Meatliquor N1 in Islington

I don’t necessarily write reviews about things like this but when it’s an insult I have to say something. I’ve always placed online order from Uber Eats As a vegetarian I always used to order the mushroom burger where you would get decent 5 big wholesome mushrooms in the bun. On a couple of occasions there would be 4 which I raised and they would take it into consideration. Realistically it doesn’t cost them much for a veggie mushroom burger. I had’t ordered here for a while and in the last week I ordered the same burger twice, on different days through Uber Eats (bear in mind prices have now gone up). It was so frustrating and insulting when I received my burger with the smallest amount of mushrooms in size! They were like baby mushrooms, decreased in size and they were only 4!! I thought it was a one off but when the second order was the same I thought enough. All I was eating was bun. You are already paying high enough prices and the food should reflect that. Especially when vegetables don’t cost them as much as meat from suppliers, but you are paying similar prices to meat burgers. If you are a vegetarian do not order from here as they are taking liberties and are cutting costs at any given chance. Unacceptable and so disappointing. There are other veggies places on Upper street who offer a far more generous service. I would recommend KOD. But don’t waste your time eating here…daylight robbery for vegetarians.

Stumbled upon this place purely by accident as I landed in Islington in the early evening and didn't fancy my hotel restaurant so decided to take pot luck... Before I start, if you don't like your food big, brash and American this is not the place for you. Having dined in similar places in the USA for real this is the most authentic recreation I've sampled. (Forget Frankie and Benny's and other so-called imitators right now....). This place is down an alleyway off Upper Street in what looks like an old converted stable or garage. The decor is a bit rough and ready but that's all part of the charm. The waitress was super friendly, guided us through the menu. My husband went for the monkey fingers (deep fried breaded chicken breast strips drizzled in Buffalo sauce) - if you've ever had 'chicken crispers' in a branch of Chili's in America they are near as identical. I went for one of the many burger options and it was huge. Fries and sides are not included though. It was all excellent food, served up quickly - but as I say - very rich so you won't leave on an empty stomach! Drinks were pricey (£6.50-£7 for a pint of beer but this is the going rate in London these days), As it doubles as a bar we liked the atmosphere so much we stayed for a couple more almost until closing time. I will definitely be back on my next London trip!

My boyfriend and I found this place by chance and it was THE best burger place we have ever been to! As soon as you walk in, you are confronted with funky decor and an edgy vibe which we both LOVED. We went on a Sunday around 12pm and were seated promptly in a large booth, as we were the only people there at the time of arrival. The waitress came over with some complimentary water which was a really nice touch and the service was very efficient! The menu is mainly burgers but they did have a few other things, and I noticed a vegan/veggie section which looked really enticing even as a meat eater. For drinks, I ordered a cocktail which was amazing, and my partner ordered a cream soda float which was delicious. For food, we ordered fried pickles, onion rings, two burgers and a cheese and onion fries to share, as well as dessert later on and we. were. FULL. I feel the need to mention the onion rings separately, as these were THE best onion rings either of us had had in our lives - they are huge! The burgers were also 10/10, but next time we go we’re definitely going to order less as the portion sizes are very generous! We both had the chocolate brownie for dessert and again, the best chocolate brownie either of us had ever had, it was so gooey and even the ice cream by itself was really good quality! Overall, our bill came to around £80, which included a service charge that we were more than happy to pay. Considering all the food we ordered, and my cocktail which was around £10 by itself, I would say that this place is exceptional value for money and you could easily have a meal for two for around £40/£50. I’ve noticed a couple of reviews saying that the service wasn’t up to standard but our experience was the total opposite as everyone we had contact with was very friendly and the service was great. Another thing we wanted to mention was that we saw one of staff members deep cleaning the place, which was reassuring as a customer as it’s usually something that you just have to trust is being done. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone!

We arrived at the restaurant at 6pm straight away we were told that we had an 1hr and 30 mins until they needed the table back. Fairs. We were sat on the smallest table in the restaurant, thinking maybe there’s bigger groups of people, that could be the reason but that was not the case. There were parties of two on larger tables through out the entire restaurant. We ordered two Ankle Twisters at £15 each expecting it to be strong as it contain Wray & Nephew. It was really weak so I proceeded to order another two shots of Wray. Two cocktails totalling at £20.25 each. SHOCKING!! Really. We order our food, which we couldn’t fault at all. Onion blings were a little oily. That’s it. Burgers were very tasty. As we began eating another waitress came over, at this point we are 40 minutes into being inside the restaurant and we just started eating. She said we had until 7:15pm to give back the table. Even though we were told we had 1hr and 30 mins. This instantly ruined my appetite because we started going back and forth. She told us they need to clean again which isn’t our problem. I just wanted to eat in peace without being disturbed about them needing the smallest table in the restaurant back after 1hr and 15 minutes. Our food didn’t come out until 6.30pm. You are meant to deliver a service where people are not feeling rushed out of your restaurant. And may want to come back. For me this has never happened in any restaurant I’ve eaten at and I was very uncomfortable. There was people sat down before us that were not being rushed out. I wanted to pay and instantly leave. I’ve worked in hospitality this has to have been my worse experience. Food was nice. Service wasn’t. I will not be going back to the meat liquor brunch on upper st.

Really enjoyed our evening here, staff were very friendly and relaxed and great with the kids. Great food, music and general vibe.

Booked to have a birthday dinner… on arrival were seated outside…place was absolutely dead…. Only 4 more people dining./drinking… we were advised the pdq machine was broken so we had to scan the QR code on the table to see the menu and order…. Food/Drinks arrived promptly…. The strawberry milkshake was not that great but the cheese and onion fries made up for it.. My ClusterCluck burger was also good… there was minimal staff interaction…. All in all an average food experience

I come here often with my partner, we love it here! Staff are always super friendly and service is always really good!

The place was so nice, graffitis and arts in every wall. Great service, drinks and burgers. A huge selection of chicken and beef burgers but they also have available a vegan/vegetarian one.

Again a great visit. Food was fresh, tasty and plenty of it. Service always good no matter who serves you. Share the loaded fries as they broke us

This is one of our favourite establishments whilst visiting family in the area the burgers are amazing always fresh and tasty. Service is always good can highly recommend.

Always enjoy MEATliquor - but which branch should I visit? MEATmission in Hoxton remains top of my list but happy to call in to Upper Street to mix things up. A great meal of course and the the Mac and Cheese Choreezo was excellent. Would have given five stars but there were no puddings available so it's only four this time round...!

We ended up in here on a whim as we were passing by. We loved the decor and the music was amazing! We shared onions to start with which were delicious and huge! So glad we had them between us. For mains we had a chilli dog and buffalo wings and shared a portion of chips. We shared it all and really enjoyed it. Really tasty! We had 3 JD and cokes and the bill including service was £58 which we thought was amazing value for money. This will definitely be our go to place for quick eats. Highly recommend! Staff were great too!

Food is really nice and the cocktails are delicious but it is a little on the expensive side think the cocktail I had was £10 and comes full of mainly ice and less of drink.I would recommend tho as is a nice place with good food.

After reading rave reviews about this place, we went there prior to a gig at the O2 Academy. We expected loud music, great ambiance and amazing burgers. What a let down! We arrived on a Thursday evening and there was actually nobody in the place, no loud music and definitely no ambiance. We were shown to a table at the outside beer garden where about a dozen or so other diners were there. We shared Wings to start, which were good. We had the Bacon Cheesburger and the Clustercluck. Both were average and nothing amazing. The Sriracha Fries tasted like fries with Paprika sprinkled over them, which at £4.85, was a tad expensive. Double Vodka's were £8.75 (without a mixer) and to cap it all, they charged 60 pence extra for each slice of lime in them!!!! In all my years of drinking, I have never been charged for the garnish! How rip off is this? However, service was good. Very disappointed and certainly won't be back.

Big group. Treated well. Starters were good but really deep fried and oily. Apparently burgers were great and regret not having one. Opted for the buffalo wings which I am upset about. I know buffalo means the sauce c’mon guys work me me. Make the wings buffalo sized. They were over deep fried and I won’t doubt cooked several days before and fried over and over. Good place just avoid anything fried.

The food was great, the onions rings were the best I’ve ever had! Service also great, Lauren our server was super friendly and attentive. Definitely hoping to be served by her again when we come back!

We had the Green Chilli chips, hard shakes, Parma and buffalo burgers. All was amazing and service was brilliant! Special shout out to Lauren for being brilliant, funny and very speedy! Will 100% be back on another date night and with friends!

It’s Meat Liquor! Burgers are tasty, fries were great and the hot mess and mac and cheese bites were really great! It seems to me the bad reviews are for when it’s delivered, which I get I can’t see the burgers travelling well, however at the actual place top marks! Yep definitely worth the minor premium over a five guys.

It’had been more than a year I had not ordered a meat liquor and I was really looking forward to it. I was a bit depressed and decided order an Uber eat and treat myself to a nice green chilli Burger and chilli fries. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! My god the beef patties looked like one had been cut into two as they were definitely two skinny! The worst was the amount of gristles i found. So decided to throw it. the quality of the meat is definitely not what I am used to from meat liquor. Very pale meat as in mixed up with other things maybe bread. But for sure not 100% meat. My burger looked sorry for itself barely much in it and very messy. It looked it was threw together in a mega hurry. Then came I opened the fries and the same disappointment. Very little fries barely no cheese plus I don’t remember the cheese being so white. The fries were cold but thank god the chilli beef sauce was hot tasted quite good so it made the fries edible and bearable. Overall terrible !!! I regret not taking any pictures to show the sorry state of that order. You have lost me on this one... £19 thrown in the bin in these really tough times. Never again
