Meatliquor in Croydon

Came here Friday night around 8pm and it was really quiet. We waited best part of 20mins to get served despite there only being three other covers in the restaurant and I had to go up and get their attention as the staff seemed busy socialising. Given how long we’d been waiting we had time to memorise the menu and ordered drinks and food at the same time. To our great disappointment when ordering we were told they’d run out of mac n cheese, chorizo and also most importantly buffalo sauce so couldn’t do any buffalo wings or chicken “monkey fingers”. The buffalo wings were what we were most looking forward to. Thus a rethink to our order was required. We both ordered a Dead Hippie Burger with bacon, some chilli cheese loaded fries and a slaw to share. The burgers are good but nothing special… fairly flavoursome, however, I did think it was arguably salt heavy without the balance of flavours I’ve had with other burger joints. The bacon patties must have the best part of 2-3 grams of salt per patty. Only one gherkin in the burger seems a little stingy or could be lack of quality control. The lettuce was soggy where it’s placed at the bottom of the patties, maybe a meatliquor USP to put lettuce below the meat? If it is… Doesn’t work for me. Loved the chilli cheese loaded fries. The Fries were still crispy and the flavours and mix of toppings worked a magical combination for the tastebuds. The slaw was fresh. Could have packed a little more zing and bite but in the grand scheme of things was a solid side. The Toffee Apple Hard Shake. One word. Epic! The Angelita Margarita was also decent. Would I return to MeatLiquor? I would another branch as I’ve been Brighton before and had far better service and the whole menu was available. Would not bother wasting your time with this one if you want Buffalo wings and attentive service. Food 5/10 Drinks 9/10 Service 5/10 Menu Availability 2/10 Decor 7/10 OVERALL 5.5/10

The food and service are both pretty good as you'd expect. It was also a nice touch to give a free burger to the member of our party celebrating their birthday. It's a nice restaurant and perfect if you like a good burger. Just one issue. Charging £6 for a large can of beer is too much. Particularly in a Boxpark venue where there is draught beer available for less in most of the venue. But for the beer then not to be chilled properly isn't great and it was the same with the second round of drinks we ordered. So please get your fridge turned up or maybe even get some proper draught beer going on?

Used to be a regular visit, and on last nights visit it was hard to flag down staff, drinks took a while to arrive (despite being made by some really hard working bar staff and clearly ready for collection to the point I had to hold my hand up to flag someone down) and when food arrived a main was missing and no cutlery was offered - the server ran off before we could ask. Good product. Staff and Customer service needs more work.

I first tried Meat Liquor about a decade ago, up at the one in Oxford Circus. The food was great, the bar was well stocked and the whole thing was a joy. Queues around the corner. However, it seems like the magic is gone, and Meat Liquor is now just another burger chain. The Dead Hippy was over cooked and rubbery. The chicken wings were dull and small. It really was disappointing to see one of the greats fall so far. Staff were lovely. It’s a shame the food sucks now. If you want an outstanding burger, go to Bleeker Burger. Don’t try this.

I’ve been looking forward to coming back here since the 1st lockdown & today was my first opportunity (I live over 100 miles away) - it was well worth the long wait to return. Really lovely friendly & helpful waiter, delicious food & great atmosphere. There is nothing I don’t like about this place & I can’t recommend it enough

Been going meatliquor since it first opened in boxpark went last week the food has definitely gone down hill the dressing in the dirty chicken cheese burger is different too what it used be dont taste as good and the buffalo fried used have stilton on them now they come with a blue cheese sauce that tastes awful. Fab meal and atmosphere for my Hubby’s Birthday during the England match! We visited MEATliquor Croydon for my husbands 40th Birthday at the weekend and it happened to be the same time England were playing. It was a great atmosphere and yummy food. Special thanks to Ben for all of his help securing us a great table with a view of the football and also for making my husbands Birthday extra special with badges and a dessert. The service really was outstanding from Ben and his team - even during a crazy busy time while the football was on! Thanks so much!

Won’t ever order again. Chips stone cold, reheated in the way suggested and were inedible . Monkey fingers came as just battered chicken fingers, neither sauce included in the bag. McDonald’s chicken nuggets would have been better. Expensive yet did not get what we paid for, very disappointing.

So firstly id really like to single out Ben for his outstanding customer service! He was incredibly helpful, when the food didn't meet the usually high standards, and re made the food, Uber then managed to mess up delivering it and then Ben managed to re organise replacement food to be delivered (minus the shakes and sorry cards) which i believe the uber driver pinched

I’ve been to the original Meat Liquor site in London many times years ago and absolutely loved it. The burgers were unbelievable. At Croydon Boxpark however, I was really disappointed. The bun was a little dry and almost stale (they usually put the bun under the cloche on the plancha when finishing the patty so it all steams and cooks together which makes it nice and juicy) but this didn’t seem to be the case. The patties were also under seasoned although the chips were great - I ordered a dead hippie. I would love a burger cooked medium although our ridiculous health and safety/EHO isn’t a fan of flavour so unfortunately we have to ruin the patties and have them well done!! (Of course, this isn’t Meat Liquor’s fault) Service was friendly and the price is good for the portion and usual quality of food. But when you’re cooking something as simple as a burger, all the elements need to be spot on. I’d still return and try something else as I have faith that this was just a one off!

I visited this branch with my best friend for dinner. The staff were very attentive and helpful, as well as the host being kind enough to hold our table for a bit because we went to the wrong area of Box Park by accident. The service overall was excellent. I ordered chicken strips in buffalo sauce and sriracha fries; along with a strawberry milkshake then a vanilla milkshake. The milkshakes were astonishing, I could’ve drank at least five glasses in one go !! The presentation of the food was great. However, I found the taste to be quite overpowering when you first bit into it then it gradually becomes quite bland, which I wasn’t too keen on to be honest. Also the chicken strips were like 95% batter and 5% chicken; although the fries were delicious so i guess it made up for the taste of the chicken. I felt sick after my meal and eventually threw up the food (not in the restaurant). Meat Liquor is also cheap (between £10 - 25 per person) so I guess it’s a great place to bring a few friends to eat at and catch up. The atmosphere of the place was very relaxed too. Despite the chicken and feeling sick afterwards, my overall experience at Meat Liquor was positive, hence the 3 stars out of 5.

I came with my friend for a burger last night and we had really excellent service from a lovely waitress called Fi. She was really polite and was super efficient. 10 out of 10 for service. The burger was delicious, I had the bacon cheeseburger but the all looked great.

Really enjoyed our visit last week - sloppy burgers, chicken burgers and monkey fingers all demolished quickly. Once we’d got into BoxPark (little to no social distancing in the queue or in the dining hall) Meat Liquor was an oasis of calm. No attempt to ram everyone in like some places. It was relaxed, not rushed and food was great. Ideally they’d have more dessert choices but that’s my only criticism. Loved it. Just be prepared to queue to get into Box Park (about 300 long when we were there) - or boom and jump the line!

Food is so good here, every time I’ve been I’ve ordered something different and never been disappointed.They don’t like you having conversations, though, the music is ridiculously loud. Maybe I’m just too old for that level of noise, but the burgers make up for the atmosphere.

I usually go to Meat Mission in Shoreditch solely for a feed of fabulous wings, which I love, but was in Croydon and decided to try this Meatliquor venue. The buffalo wings were shockingly small and dry with no slathering of sauce as I'd expect, and the buffalo fries, which are twice the price of regular fries, were basically the same as a regular fries with the tiniest sprinkling of blue cheese over them. Bacon cheeseburger was nice and consistent with other Meat venues and the beer was lovely and cold. I used to queue in New Cross many years ago for my Meat Easy fix. I won't be back to the Croydon Meat Liquor.

I can't recommend Deliveroo from Meatliquor in Boxpark Croydon.On first attempt, the order was randomly cancelled after 10 mins. No explanation or apology.On the second attempt a few days later, the delivery time of around 30 mins unexpectedly increased to one hour a few mins after ordering. In fact, it didn't arrive until closer to 90 mins. The deliveroo countdown increased continously beyond the original hour estimate.The entire food order was mostly cold. The cooking instructions were ignored. The meat items arrived medium/rare instead of well done. A very poor experience, made particularly irritating since I subsequently discovered that the online price for Meatliquor food through deliveroo is more than you pay in store. Deliveroo say they encourage stores to maintain the same price as eat in but this has not been adhered to. This markup plus the deliveroo charge and the overall poor experience mean I won't be using again.
