Meadow Stockbridge Hants UK in Test Valley

Best place for an informal lunch/brunch/coffee in Stockbridge. Stockbridge has been calling out for somewhere like Meadow for years and the team have nailed it. The menu is spot on, not too big but still plenty of options. I have visited quite a few times and have never had poor service. I love the feel inside, it has the perfect balance of cozy, airy and light and its always fun to see what new pieces of art are on the walls. Please ignore the comments about price, I do wonder if these reviewers have any idea about Stockbridge. It is a prime market town in the Test Valley, and you have to bear that in mind when thinking about value. Nothing in Stockbridge is cheap, so maybe go elsewhere if price is an issue for you. I personally think that Meadow represents excellent value for money in Stockbridge.

Ordered two sausage baps, a latte and an americano. we were told the kitchen did not open for 15 mins (ok) so we were served our drinks in very low small cups. Neither was hot, as they had been sitting on the self for 10 mins. We waited until 20 past 12 for our baps, which were ok, although relish was hot... but this experience came to £22.77 which included 2.00 service charge.... come off it it is a CAFE ..what service. Although there was a menu some of the prices, including Baps and coffee, on the board were take away only including SOUP!! When I asked to check the charges it was pointed out to us about the small print on the menu about service charge. Needless to say we will not be going back Finally, Stockbridge does not appear to have many cafes and therefore competition is limited. I feel there is no doubt this cafe feels it can charge what it likes as it has a captive market.

Visited a craft fair in Stockbridge with family and a friend. We decided to pop into Meadow for a cuppa before our friend returned to London after visiting for a few days. We entered Meadow and were told there was room upstairs and the lady who directed us says she’d come to serve us shortly. We settled at a table, the restaurant was busy it was getting close to lunchtime. Another young lady staff member went to approach our table to see what we’d like, and was told off by the blond lady who had directed us to the table, that she was going to serve us. We all felt that the way she spoke to young staff member was brisk and quite rude. We ordered our beverages and may well have ordered some cakes but none of us were impressed how the young member of staff was treated, by who we thought was her manager. As a customer you always expect staff to be respectful to each other and we all came to the conclusion the manager was rude and it didn’t impress us at all. Working in hospitality isn’t always easy I know especially when it’s busy, but lack respect for your staff as a manager reflects on the whole establishment. Maybe she was having a bad day, but surely it’s team work and you should support your team.

Visited for coffee and cake with my friend who requires a wheelchair. Staff were so friendly and helpful, cakes and coffee delicious and toilet facilities excellent. Thank you.

We just wanted a light meal and a coffee as we were driving through the area and had no need of a big lunch. Perfect meal of poached eggs and avocado and my husband had the eggs royale. Lovely coffee and very pleasant staff. Meal took a little while to arrive but we had been appraised of that before we sat down. Very much enjoyed both the meal and the ambience. Would visit again if in the area.

We have had lunch here before and although it was very good it was also expensive for what it was Today we went back and had a coffee, hot chocolate and two brownies. The hot chocolate was in a shallow cup, which is not what you normally get when you ask for hot chocolate/cream/marshmallows. Very disappointing We paid £16.00 for this, which is extortionate compared to other independent businesses. The service charge is frustrating, we would always tip for good service but we don’t agree with when you’re purchasing drinks and cakes!

Overall very happy with the food and courteous service we received. No complaints at all from us. The only thing that stopped me putting 5 out of 5 was the price. It’s a bit on the expensive side. Also a service charge was automatically added to the bill and not mentioned when we paid. The staff thoroughly deserved a tip but I would like to be given the choice or at least be made aware it’s been added. Other than that well worth a visit.

Very disappointed .Externally it looks inviting but having ordered we waited 25 mins and then enquired where our order was . We were told that order had not gone through . They offered pot of tea on house which was a good response .We asked to speak to some one in charge but when they appeared there was no apology and indifference .Lots of staff but little oversight.

I decided to try Meadow, as the latest incarnation of this coffee shop in Stockbridge, and was asked to take a seat and they would come and take my order. There were three young girls behind the counter, who weren’t doing much, but after waiting about 6 minutes they had still not taken my order (goodness knows how long it would have taken to get my coffee). I left !

The staff were attentive with a good choice of pastries and coffee. Location in the middle of Stockbridge is very convenient. Would visit again.

Visited Meadow a few days ago and had the most amazing time. The staff were lovely and attentive, food and drink was incredible!! Highly recommend.

I used to love this place. However, on the last two visits I've noticed the portions are getting less. £31 for two teas and two small bite sized breakfasts. This seems ludicrous. I'm wondering if customers are paying for the privilege of visiting Stockbridge. Not convinced the price justifies what we had to eat, even when taking the economic situation into consideration?

When we arrived we were told that we'd have to sit outside bcos inside was fully booked, this should have rung alarm bells really bcos it didn't look full. Our coffees arrived fairly quickly by a nice waitress, but we waited for 45mins before our breakfast finally arrived & our coffees were long finished. Although the breakfast was nice, it wasn't nice enough to have waited 45mins for & it was quite expensive for what we got. It is clearly a popular place, so if you have that many seats, at least have a big enough kitchen fully staffed to cope with them or reduce the seating & have better service. The waitress kept saying thank you for your patience, but doesn't help. We won't be going again nor would we recommend it.

We arrived and were seated by a very pleasant waitress who we overheard comment to one of her colleagues that the restaurant was unusually quiet for a Saturday. We ordered two coffees a Kitchen Breakfast and a flapjack. The coffees and flapjack arrived reasonably promptly - there was then a wait of almost 45 minutes during which time we were assured by the "plump" manageress that our order would be out shortly and she was just going to get it - eventually we couldn't wait any longer and decided to leave. We were offered numerous excuses like the restaurant was very busy (somewhat belied by the evidence) and the kitchen was busy blah blah blah. If places are busy they should tell you when ordering that there will be a delay with food and give an estimate of how long it will be - not keep you a hostage to fortune!! Needless to say we shan't return and suggest you ask when ordering how long it will take to get your order particularly if like us, youre in a rush!!!

A quick visit to Stockbridge. Visited Meadow for a coffee. It wasn’t very busy. Ordered two coffees and waited what seemed like an age. Eventually the coffee arrived which was very nice , but the wait was not great.

Enjoyed coffee tea and cakes when we popped in here on our visit to Stockbridge. We chose a busy day Mothers Day but were still able to order. Bright welcoming place with lovely artwork for sale. Friendly staff .

Stunning, bright and airy building. Food was fab as was service. I had the kitchen breakfast which i could not fault. Highly recommended

Super delicious brunch, perfect portion sizes, very flexible with allergies, and incredibly friendly staff. Beautiful decor and wonderful array of art work to view and buy. Husband couldn't get me out quick enough! Definitely recommend to anyone who wants a quick coffee and slice of cake or something more substantial. Will be our go to in Stockbridge from now on.

We had a super lunch in a lovely spacious area, Delicious fresh homemade food and such attentive and friendly service - we were made to feel very welcome and relaxed. Everything a working lunch should be, very enjoyable indeed and good value for money

Poor experience. Chaotic environment, poor service, no discernible system to the service. Lots of staff but it appeared no coordination. Waited 40 minutes for two coffees and a piece of cake. People arriving after us were served first though food arrived before drinks or after but never together. Coffee nice once it arrived.

Amazing experience, ambience was gorgeous, and food, which was delicious, came quickly, with lovely coffee. Definitely the best place to eat or drink in Stockbridge.

Food is ok (not great) but is relatively expensive taking into account the 10% service charge. However, the service is poor. We arrived at 11.20am in time for breakfast (served until 11.30pm). However, by the time our orders of coffee had arrived at the table, it was 11.32am and we were told we couldn’t then order a breakfast meal! There are much better places to eat in Stockbridge - try Prego, Thyme and Tides and Kudos

We stopped for a snack at what was previously a pizza location.It was our most disappointing meal experience for a very long time. £4.50 for a milkshake that my wife could not drink £ 9.50 each for a Luke warm pancake .We know things are more expensive now but frankly this was a rip off.

Such a great place for a quick coffee, long lunch or a cheeky brunch. The improvements made both to the interior and exterior have really made this place so much nicer to be. The staff are really friendly and attentive, it feels like the continent where you can just sit at an empty table and be served really quickly. The water on the table is a nice touch. Great menu, with a variety of well thought out dishes. Also lovely art gallery upstairs to browse around.

Delicious three course supper - all cooked to perfection in such a great atmosphere. Highly recommend. Fantastic friendly service

First time since new mgt took over. Wonderfully light and airy place. Well decorated, clean and bright. Food is very good. Smaller portions than many but well presented and quick service. Can imagine somewhere like this is expensive to run so food and drink needs to reflect that. Therefore give it a go as a nice place to visit in couples or families. A pleasant upmarket experience.

I visited for the 3rd time this week for lunch. It was lovely! Staff are friendly, decor is so nice and bright, there is seating outside and the food is yummy. Really nice addition to Stockbridge

We had a light lunch at Meadow during our bike ride today. We sat outside and had 2 delicious tarts each with different side salads. The staff were brilliant and Meadow is very attractively designed. We will definitely visit again.

A beautiful interior but expensive. Service charge was added for 2 coffees which i thought was a bit cheeky. Better places to visit in Stockbridge such as Prego and Thyme & Tide.

We have just visited, as haven’t been since new people have taken over , was very impressed with the decor and the outdoor space , ordered two ice coffees waited 25 mins In the end had to go in and ask to take them away...
