This chippy relly nice love this place food top off any chippy never even had a bad 1 from here love the home mad stake pie from here

Lunch was delicious, the portions are huge , everything is so fresh and tasty ! There is loads on the menu , service was excellent!

From the moment we walked through the door we were looked after! Seating is pretty basic but the staff were lovely! We opted for fish and chip supper plus a smaller OAP version. The plate came with a cold drink and tea - fish and chip supper would not be complete without a chip butty. The mushy peas were perhaps warm versus hot. I saw they offered deep fried ice cream - so we had a go - there is a first time for everything. (Not on the weight watchers menu) The menu also offered other non fish and chip food like pizza , chicken and burgers in addition to a full drinks option. For those who struggle with stairs there is a lift. Toilets were clean. I have to emphasise the willingness of the staff to please - a real treat. We would certainly visit again.

Ordered a sausage supper to share with my daughter. Long wait but expected as it was a Friday evening. Got home and was majorly disappointed when we opened the box. 2 thin, extremely well done at one end sausages which looked like they'd been sitting for an eternity. I think they put extra chips into compensate for the sorry sausages. Chips weren't much better. Waste of £7.50. Won't be back.

What has happened to McMonagles over the past year. Had one of the worst fish suppers yesterday I have ever eaten. Fish was so thin you could hardly see it in the soggy wet tastles batter that was stuck to the box. Chips also soggy and very mushy. Absolutely vile ended up binning most. As for the £13 pizza lol having a joke with that price. A very thin based again tastles pizza with very little cheese chicken and sweetcorn on top. £13 is a disgrace worst pizza I have tasted. This is an urgent SOS call for John McMonagle to return to his sinking ship before its completely in the canal for good to show the current staff team how to make good fish and chips once again. I won't be returning until he does. Avoid at all costs you have been warned ⚠️

im a regular visitor to mc monagles i eat upstairs main meals and snacks and suppers downstairs the food is always good the staff couldnt be more kinder helpful and since im in wheelchair the staff always rush over to open doors for me very kindly very friendly upstairs in resturant they make great soups and homemade steak pie is great as is other meals

If you want everything deep fired then here is place for you staff are boring never have a smile on their faces or get it delivered with an arrogant driver

I like to visit when I'm anywhere near Glasgow, fish and particularly the chips remind me how this dish tasted when I was a lad.

They fry in veg oil, and a portion of chip is £2.40. They have a takeout and sit in restaurant upstairs. See menu for full prices. My chips were nice.There is a picnic area outside with table and benches where you can also sit and enjoy Your food.

My husband have not been to this restaurant in a few years and forgot how tasty the food was, we are so glad we went back for our pre anniversary lunch. Will definitely be back and also recommend to my friends and family.

Five stars on a good night, 0 on a bad one. Best time to order is on busier nights like weekends because the food is made fresh. Highly recommend the store baked pizzas.

Was dining in boat today first time in 12 yrs what lovely staff you have John so attentive to our needs and what can I say about the food was so fresh I had prawn cocktail then Apple pie and ice cream my pal had homemade broth and chicken tikka sandwiches with same sweet as myself what a difference having the lift make well chuffed will be back more regular thank you. Mr John McMonagle and staff great prices too.

good menu fish and chips for pensioners at great prices they now have an extension with a lift for wheelchairs .drink prices ok .and new furniture large outside area. and if you are in your care free carpark outside ok for breakfast .lunch and evening meals they also do home deliverys we have been going since it opened.

We went to the upstairs restaurant for a wee treat. We had haddock and chips £9.95 and scampi with chips £9.95 (Both these dishes would have been £7.85 if bought from the counter downstairs). The food was plentiful, fresh and hot but to be honest I wish we'd bought it from the counter downstairs and sat out the front at the picnic tables. I wasn't really impressed with the service, and the restaurant was loud and felt cramped. We didn't realise we had to pay at the till on the way out, rather than at the waitress serviced table, and feel this could have been pointed out to us rather than leaving us sitting waiting. I would definitely eat from here in future no problem, but I would not eat at the upstairs restaurant again. Why pay higher prices to be made feel uncomfortable when you can have the same great food cheaper downstairs?

Not good daughter I went in for fish supper carry out came home chips dry maybe reheats but not nice fish was pale colour it hard not great taste couldn't eat it which is disappointing because I have ate out of here many times it has been nice but give it a while I think then try again it's not cheap you want a decent fish supper not much to ask

5 of us paid a visit to this lovely Fish & Chip restaurant today at lunch time. The service was very good and professional, the fish and chips were the best I've tasted for years - freshly cooked, piping hot, lovely dry chips with no sign of grease and the haddock was tasty and exactly as it should be. No complaints other than the cups of tea which the waitress said were "free" (but in reality were included in the price) arrived as cups of hot water with a bowl of tea bags which had to be added at the table! A nonsense and none of us enjoyed the tea at all - think again McMonagles, you're spoiling the ship here.Otherwise it was lovely, the decor was "nostalgic" and, if we had wanted a sausage supper we'd have gone to a Sausage & Chip Restaurant.

I’ll start by saying the staff were good- no complaints there. Interior is like something from the 1950s , tired , old not great. The menu is rubbish. I genuinely thought I was going for a chippy but inside. There is no mention of anything in the menu that u would expect from a chippy like, sausage supper, black pudding supper etc.. it’s just like a normal menu with burger/ steak pie/ pizza. If you want a sausage supper u can ask but it’s not on the menu.For two adult meals , 2 kids meals and 2 diet cokes it cost us £30 . It’s not cheap. The food was fine. My advice, get a takeaway from downstairs and eat it in the car if you have to eat here. Otherwise - don’t bother.

The novelty of eating on a canal is fun and you are up off the road and water height. The service was great and the prices were good but no newspaper for your chips like old days but good fun for the kids.

We have had fish n chips on numerous occasions, this time we sat in and had the steak pie, it was wonderful, thoroughly recommend a visit to the "boat" lovely staff, great food and reasonable prices.

We went there last Thursday as we were stuck in Clydebank waiting on car mot There was no fish ready so had to wait on it being cooked We just got one fish supper to carry out between us and sat outside on the benches to eat it the chips were not too bad we were given two large pieces of fish haddock apparently but not nice not fresh and not very good I was going to bin it but a seagull was sitting watching us so I put the fish supper on the ground 90% was left and next thing a flock of seagulls appeared so they enjoyed it while we went for something good to eat got a nice pizza

Just got food delivered. It was awful will never buy from here again. Fish was dried up and chips were tiny crumbs with loads of bad bits in them. Ordered 3 suppers lucky if we actually managed to get a full one out of it.

I mostly come to McGonagles for ice blasts but on a few occasions have had food, and even dined in, it is a fairly nice experience and the food is quite good although some prices can be a bit high, very nice and enjoy mostly every time!

Hadnt been here for a while, but we always enjoy going here. Its a chippy with a difference. Food is excellent, you can sit in or takeaway and service is fantastic. Highly recommend.

Most of the waitresses were really nice accept for the one who served our table with the desserts. She literally flung them across the table. The meals we ordered were well presented. Unfortunately the chips were of substandard quality. Bits of black on most of them. Considering that this is a fish and chip restaurant it was very disappointing.

My husband had the soup it was very good and I had the fried mushrooms they were nice then both off us had the steak pie is was beautiful with bread and butter and 2 juices

Die Atmosphäre entspricht nicht so ganz dem was man in einem ehemaligen Schiff erwartet, es ist nichts maritimes übrig.Die Bedienung hätte gern professioneller sein können! Es ist schon ok einen Stuhl weg zu nehmen um Rollstuhlfahrern Platz zu machen, aber die Art und Weise ist unmöglich gewesen! Eine Bedienung warf mir meine auf dem Stuhl platzierte Jacke zu, fast auf meinen Teller und nahm dann den Stuhl weg. Die zweite Bedienung entriss mir dann die Jacke und brachte diese inclusive Brieftasche, Portemonaie und Autoschlüssel irgendwo anders hin!Der Fisch und die Pommes sind in einer ordentlichen Qualität gewesen, wenn auch nicht herausragend! Daher also immerhin noch drei Punkte.

Food was cold and greasy. Waiting staff were incredibly slow. Recewhvwd drinks about 15 mins after ordering them. Do not recommend!

Good fast service despite the table next to us complaining about.everything the staff.did.really.well to deal with it. Complaining ice.cream had melted. ( boy sat on his.phone and didn't eat it) they.replaced it.without.any.problem. we had all our.food quickly.baked potatoes are huge kids loved their fish.and chips. Good friendly.service.

We popped in here hungry and cold after swimming for some dinner. Staff were lovely, food was hot, tasty and fresh and our young daughter especially loved the 'butter sandwiches and free ice cream with rainbow sprinkles'. I'm sure we will be returning soon for dinner on the boat !

Fantastic, excellent, wonderful.Love it.Gluten free fish supper, this was excellent, a lot nicer than the one in Whitby, and it was rather good.It was better than one in Largs.The restaurant is lovely and the staff are nice and friendly.The fish was fresh, moist and sweet.The Batter wasn't heavy, its light and crispy and what I really liked was their wasn't a greasy pool on my plate.My wife and I will be back.

I'd read some of the reviews here before I visited, and from the descriptions of supposedly rude staff I would say I definitely met them all - and none of them were remotely like the nasty people some others complain about. Efficient, welcoming, pleasant, helpful. So don't believe everything you read. I had fish and chips, which were piping hot and obviously just cooked, served in an attractive way and with a very short wait time, so full marks there as well. And the ambience is good. Folks, this is a fish and chip restaurant, it's not claiming to be a five star eatery, so judge it as what it is - which is an excellent example of its type. And good prices as well - where else can you get a fish supper for two, with bread and tea, and have change left from £20? Free parking right outside as well. I'll be back.

Popped in here for lunch on a day out with my nieces. Fish and chips was good and service was fine. Kids menu was good value with the kids getting a meal, drink and ice cream for £4.95.

Family visit for lunch after Christmas shopping good value for money got order wrong but was quickly sorted Staff helpful polite and friendly good deals for pensioners would highly recommend will be back on next visit to Clydebank

We regularly visit hear to have our gluten free haddock and chips. The meal is freshly prepared and is accompanied by a cup of tea. Unfortunately, we cannot take advantage of the bread and butter also offered with this deal as it has gluten. We have asked for them to consider keeping a GLUTEN FREE loaf in their freezer for such occasions when customers require it but WITHOUT success. Many places do this now and just take out the number of slices required and toast them. It would make our meal deal complete and we would feel like all the other customers. McMonagles make a special point of telling prospective customers that they do Gluten Free by advertising this on a billboard outside.

went in with family for fish and chips Staff were so helpful and cheery they even said try the business lunch which would give us a starter or dessert and work out cheaper so been back twice! each time excellent service and what I like is I am disabled and they have a small lift which helped me so much that I will return knowing I don't have to climb stairs! they have a great menu and even a small menu as I don't eat a lot although my son in law helped me lol sitting on a boat eating fish and chips is lovely They also do delivery and have a separate chip shop downstairs for takeaway Will be back!

Called in today for a fish tea. The service was excellent very welcoming and friendly staff who seem very happy at there work especially the young girl who served us wish I got her name she was very chatty telling us she just got married 2 weeks ago. The Fish and Chips was one of the best. We will definitely be going back.

Walked in to be met with a snide look from everyone behind the counter as if I was a terrible inconvenience. Was ignored for at least 2-3 minutes whilst standing at the counter with no one else in the shop, whilst all the girls chatted amongst themselves, blatantly ignoring me. I was then asked “Have you been served then?” by one of the girls who was well aware I was waiting. Got given too much change to have it snatched back out my hand and a receipt shoved at me on the counter. Terrible customer service and mediocre food. Won’t be back.

Bearing on mind this took over 2 hours aye thats right over 2 hours to be delivered - pizza not cut (other chippies do this)I really didnt want to eat the whole thing in a oney. Half a portion of chips and same with onion rings.

Best in the country by far no other chip shop restaurant is anywhere near as good and the upgraded decor has made it even more inviting

I have to admit I am running out of words with which to compliment this establishment. I have been using this restaraunt for 10 years at least, and I have never been disappointed in a meal. It is true to say, while I have had fish teas in other places, and some were very good, none ever surpassed the Clydebank eating place for neither service nor quality of fish supper. I am sorry if I am just.repeating previous compliments, The reason for this review is, they are improving the facility to add a lift. this allow the less able to access the upper deck sitting in room.

Hadn't been into the boat for too long, decided on Lunch since we had no Children with us and we could just enjoy the peace. We were greeted by a very friendly smiling waitress who quickly took us to the front of the boat and gave us options on which table to sit. Tea and coffee delivered order for food taken , we opted for Haddock and fish Cakes, Absolute Gorgeous food and great portions, Work is being carried out at the moment but you would not know as the boat is spotless. Well done to all involved, will definitely be back

5 of us in Clydebank on a quick visit yesterday. All had cod and chips wiv 3 mushy peas and an iron bru each. Staff couldnt be friendlier, best fish and chips ever. The boat setting impressive too.

We visited this restaurant on the spur of the moment while on a trip to the local distillery. The staff were very friendly and efficient and we were welcomed and seated within minutes. It is a rather quaint establishment which appears to be a converted boat. Food wise we were pleasantly surprised as the quality of the fish and chips was excellent. There was plenty on the plate and it was the tastiest haddock supper we have had in a long time. The only disappointment was the tea wasn't brewed in a teapot- picky I admit but the only criticism of the experience. Definitely worth a visit.

My husband knows this area, so we called here having been to the shopping centre. The boat setting is quirky & probably liked by kids. My husband is not a fish eater, but there was lots of other things on the menu. I had the fish & chips & my husband the chicken. Also included in the pice was either tea or coffee. The service was good, order taken not long after we sat down, asked if we wanted our drinks now or with our food. Food arrived and was piping hot. Hot & tasty food, nothing fancy, but good value for money. We saw 4delivery cars outside that seemed to be busy. Down stairs for take away & the upper deck for eating in. Quirky treat for kids.

I went here for a take away of chips and my brother with chips and cheese. The chips were very nice and not greasy in the slightest. The fact they came in a carton instead of just wrapped in paper was also a nice touch. The chips were also really hot and looked very fresh. The only reason for a mark down is the price. They are the most expensive chips ihave had in the area. (£ 1.95). Were really nice though

I placed an order at 8.28pm last night and it was delivered at 8.38pm. I would normally be dubious but it was fresh cooked and absolutely amazing! The best batter in Scotland methinks

Have had a delivery from here and grabbed some food when passing by and I have to say I do not understand what all the hype is about . I find it expensive for what it is ... just a chippy in the form of a boat lol don't think I'd be back if I'm honest I've definitely had better food from other chippys

I got some mac n cheese and it was amazing and I love that I can also have an ice blast to drink wich is very refreshing and my sons got the kids fish and they didn't leave not one bit of it as they loved it and with the kids meals you also get a small ice blast with it and I'd say it's definitely worth the money you pay and cooked with care.

Popped in on a Friday night did not have a booking but shown to a table right away by very pleasant waitress ordered three fish teas fish was Braddock very tasty lovely crisp batter chips piping hot really good portion size and good value will return when in area

We visited this restaurant as a family on a Saturday afternoon.The staff were fantastic and very accommodating.The restaurant was clean and tidy and surprisingly relaxing.The food was very nice and not too expensive.I'd recommended a visit to check it out for yourself.

Went out for a late lunch with my dad and husband. We had great service from the young women in the restaurant. The food was served quickly and was delicious, portions were very generous. Will definitely go again and have already recommended it to others. We use the takeaway a couple of times a month which is also fantastic. It was a lovely experience.

Just came home from mcmonagles and what a shock. Not been in almost 18 months first thing I saw was price increases. Got a fish supper was half the size you used to get so your paying more and getting half not acceptable john mcmonagle your ripping people off now. Chips hard and cold and sausages inedible brick hard will never ever return. Only reason you are busy is because there is no other competition. Hang your head in shame won't be back.

Kids favourite place and also ours. Food is always cooked to the highest quality and the portions are great. Staff are also very attentive and knowledgable. Can't recommend highly enough

We always have a great experience at Mcmonagles. Novelty for the kids having fish & chips on the boat. Great sized portions, the staff especially are a credit to this place - friendly, observant but not overbearing. Good value for money too. One of the best places for fish & chips :)

I've just had my last visit to this place for take away. Again the food was not up to scratch. . Fish over cooked. 3 bad meals in a row, So I will not be going back. I can't fault the serving staff as they were great.

Love the quirkiness of this being a boat. Great childrens' menu with lots of options, a drink and and ice cream for under £5. Huge adult menu. The haddock and chips that I had were excellent. Good fun and a bit different.

We ate in the restaurant part of the "boat", but it also has a walk-in chip shop in the downstairs section. The staff were friendly and presented the food (cod and chips) is a maner that made us feel very welcome. The restaurant was clean and the tables where laid out with folded napkins (standing fan) and good cutlery. It was quiet when we went in but I think it would still be as nice even at full capacity as there aren't too many tables. All in all a nice place that we will definitely visit again.

Having ordered dinner from mcmonagles the food was outstanding. I ordered the pizza crunch and my partner had a sausage supper. Great priced for the portion size we recieved.The service is top notch. Couldn't recommend enough.

Go here quite often when in clydebank.come from portglasgow and mostly visit clydebank for this boat. Food is beautiful. Family friendly, caters for all.wonderful friendly service and most important best food ever.
