All systems down so can't order any food online, in person at the till or by using their machines. All the workers are just standing there not knowing how to fix it and don't care because they get paid and get to do absolutely nothing, most of them don't even speak a word of English and can't understand a thing I am saying. Unbelievably frustrating.

Good - would recommend adding normal cheese options for vegan burger for the vegetarians

As far as McDonald's go, this was an impressive one. The staff were extremely efficient and cohesive. It was the first time in a long time we barely had to wait for our order. Mind you the chips were cold, but the rest of it was spot on.

It was one of those damp, dreich Edinburgh afternoons, the kind where the cold mist hovers in the air, curling around your neck like a clawed hand over Aurther's Seat leaving you craving something anything that feels hot inside warming the soul. Naturally, I found myself drifting into the drive-thru at McDonald's on London Road, drawn not by hunger but by something deeper, something darker, the need to fill an existential hole. And there, illuminated was my prize: a cheeseburger. Not just any cheeseburger, mind you this isn't a Marks & Sparks review. This cheeseburger was about to lead me down a path I hadn’t anticipated. After parking and peeling back the wrapper, I was greeted by something that felt oddly charged, more suggestive than any piece of fast food had a right to be. Those buns brown and brazen didn’t just sit there with a soft, pillowy innocence. They were firm! With the kind of weight that made them feel knowing, like a pair of dark, insidious temptresses. And there, wedged between them like a man with far too much confidence, was the Scottish meat. This wasn’t just any slab of prime Scots beef. This was thick, juicy, unapologetically bold a Scots beef patty that hadn’t just been placed there, but positioned with intention. It sat with an almost obscene arrogance, daring the buns to hold it all together, spilling out at the edges like it knew it was too much for the arrangement, but didn’t care. There was a reckless hedonism to the whole thing, the kind of encounter that makes you question whether you’re a participant or a mere witness to something far more illicit than a burger transaction. The first bite confirmed what I already suspected. The meat, firm and defiant, pushed back against my teeth. This wasn’t a passive slab of beef; this was an active participant in the drama, each chew like some orchestrated foreplay between me and the elements of this burger. The buns, though seemingly overpowered, held firm with a sultry grace, their softness offset by the resistance of the meat which opened me right up to a new experience. It was a balance of power, a dance of surrender and dominance, each bite laden with innuendo. The onions casually atop were like voyeuristic provocateurs, sitting there in their small white cubes, offering just enough of a bite to remind me that this wasn’t your standard issue fast food affair this was something else. That thick patty of Scottish beef was far too substantial for the delicate space it had been given, like a raucous guest at a genteel dinner party. It didn’t belong, but it was there, making its presence known in every bite, daring me to finish it, daring me to question if I could handle it. As I sat there, rain streaking down the windows of my car, the dampness pressing in, I realized this cheeseburger was more than just a sum of its parts. It was an encounter brief intense absurd yet deeply satisfying. The buns, the onions, that brazen slab of meat, all came together to create something more almost indecent. Sometimes, you tell yourself a cheeseburger is just a cheeseburger. But sometimes, as I learned that afternoon at McDonald's, it’s something much, much more a fleeting moment of transcendence, wrapped in mayo stained paper, that stays with you long after the last bite.

Late night drive thru always welcomed

I do my best to not come across this place, as the few times I did (as my work obligates me), I had bad experiences. Evenings and nights. The place is always a mess, hygiene is not at all the best, staff is far away from being welcoming or friendly, on the contrary they tend to ignore you, acting to be busy with an empty bag in hand. I would truly try to not visit this place if possible.

Don't order online; a) You will never get your dips. b) You'll be left playing the wonderfully fun game of "what random substitution or blatant ignoring of my order have they done today??". You expect something to go wrong whether it's a £5 or £50 order.

The worst McDonald’s in Edinburgh. Every time I’ve been (or ordered online) the food is cold, my order is wrong and the ice machine is “broken” so the juice is lukewarm.

Horrible service staff just ignore you.

We went to this McDonald's today from England, there was no ketchup in the filling pipe, when I ask for the ketchup in the the reception she gave only one for the family, and she said we can't give you more than one, I was like what?? 😟😟She is very rude, the way she treated us was really bad.

Just waited ages for our "galaxy and raspberry pie" to be cooked. Got home to two apple pies - they still charged the more expensive raspberry pie price though. Not good enough. And again today - given the wrong burgers this time. Maybe couldn't hear me properly over the hilarity and carry on they were having. I'm glad they're enjoying themselves at work but not if it means they canny hear me.

Taking an hour to deliver? Where’s my food

I ordered £34 in food last night and the delivery driver must have gave it to someone else in my street when I phoned to ask about it they said there's nothing they can do as the driver was in my street but he was definitely not at my door imy advice is stay away the staff and drivers are incompetent and don't have a clue what they are doing it outrageous that a big company like McDonald's won't even refund your money or give you your order that you ought to turn the first place my advice is stay away

Mc crispy for over 5£ Terribly made

Visited 6/7/24, for breakfast. The place was filthy, there was garbage on tables and even those that were clear were covered in crumbs etc. I won't be back.

Absolutely horrific experience here. My partner and I are moving home and on a long drive from Scotland to England. We have not eaten at all today and both of us have health issues. We got to the drive through on Meadowbank and when at the speaker, the behaviour of the girl was vile. There was barely any information on the menu board and with no cars behind us, the cashier tried to rush us when trying to order. The menu says Caramel Frappe i.e. no mention of coffee, so we asked if it was the coffee one. The server replied that it was just a Caramel Frappe. We paid said we would just take them other things we had ordered. When we got to the window to pay, I tried to ask again re the Frappe. The (same) server said that the Frappe contained Coffee flavour but not coffee. I said that was fine but was the menu board just said Caramel, we had asked the question. The server then stated that it was how I had worded it (basically being extremely pedantic and trying to provoke). I asked if we could please pay for our food and leave. The cashier told us that she was not serving us for being "extremely rude". I asked to speak to her manager. She did not say she was going to do so, she just shut the window and walked away. Eventually, another girl came and was stone faced and immediately as pedantic. She didn't introduce herself and went on the same power trip as the other girl. Again, I explained that we haven't eaten all day, are on a long journey and just wanted to pay for out food and go. She too refused and said she was the manager and was not going to serve us as she had been listening on her headset to us placing our order and stated that I had been extremely rude. The only rudeness came from the tardy, power hungry staff at this branch of McDonald's. Apparently their names were Sophie and Kelly, one of them being the manager. It was by far the worst experience I have ever had in any food establishment and these people don't deserve to be employed in a customer facing role. Their behaviour resembled playground bullying and they should be ashamed of themselves. The place was empty and I make no wonder!

For one coffee need to wait 1 hour

A small to mid-sized McDonald’s that remains open 24 hours a day. Drive Thru and free parking available too. I have to disagree with other reviews - the staff here are pretty good and are working the best they can with the resources they have available. Tables are usually free and cleared quickly. The male and disabled bathrooms are usually kept tidy too. Most of the food is OK, but for some reason, the fries are always disappointing. Every time I get them, they’re either cold, soggy, or bland. Drinks are always fine. The desserts are generally good, but the ice cream machine is prone to breaking, which may result in certain items being unavailable. The biggest issue and most common complaint you'll hear about this place is that if you order in-store, you will probably end up waiting a long time to get your food. Delivery orders (UberEats, Just Eat, etc.) are prioritised first. These delivery drivers often take up space at the counter and the booths on the right-hand side of the restaurant, which denies seating for actual in-store paying customers. On my most recent visit, it took 25 minutes to get 4 items (a burger, a wrap, a drink, and a hot pie). By the time I finally got my food, the burger and wrap were room temperature. Based on that experience, I would not recommend this location and would likely not return. It just takes far too long to get what should be "fast" food. My suggestion to McDonald’s: lose the delivery orders and dispatch from a commissary kitchen/delivery-only kitchen.

Terrible to order from, several times now they've left out multiple items from the order and when you call they're never able to take calls, basically a scam, wouldn't be surprised if the manager stuffed their porky face with my food.

Staff on the counter was really rude, it was not busy, i ordered for eat in from self ordering counter, it did not had any paper in the screen i guess to print receipt, so I went to the counter to tell that lady, She was not friendly, rude. I get a McDonald's about once every 4 - 6 months, it's one of those things that you fancy having every so often but the idea is always better than the actual thing. The branch at Meadowbank is 5 minutes walk from the office so easy to pop in and take away, I always avoid the drive through as previously every time you have to end up parking up and waiting anyway after paying and going to the 2nd window. I used one of the self order machines inside and it's easy to work, the only pain is you never get a paper receipt so need to catch your order number on the screen. Food today was average, I know it's a fast food joint and don't expect first class dining, but seemed it was pretty much thrown together and the undercooked chips were a bit unappealing. It was ok today, filled a hole and despite a bit messy was as expected. Big Mac Cheese Burger Chips Irn Bru Update Visited again 5/4/24 and rather than use the drive through I went in thinking this would be the easier option. Ordered with the self service machine which actually had tickets for the first time, then waited 25 minutes for my food. Fast food?, not in this place, as I watched the manic movement behind the counter I couldn't believe how slow things were prepared, 3 orders before mine in the 25 minutes. Eventually got my food, on a tray even though I'd ordered take out, so transferred to bag and left. It's certainly not the best place by any means, but local to the office so the only positive is convenience.

This place is a big dump, starting with the rude and unprofessional staff, I was waiting over 30 minutes for a Big Mac order, and when the cold fries and undercooked meat finally arrived, I politely asked for a change and The staff who wear a white shirt (I imagine they are supervisors) have ignored me and just spent a long time, when they finally paid attention to me they told me that I had to wait 5 minutes for them to change my order, and I wasted almost 1 hour to eating a Big Mac, I don't recommend it

Whole restaurant being served food while NO ONE is in the drive through. 20 minutes to be told the system has crashed yet people are still ordering inside and food being given at the end window!

This was the best McDonald's experience I have had in years, my family was very happy with both the service and the food. It s been so long since I have had Cheesburgers with the patty freshly prepared on the grill, with the cheesburgers steaming in front of us when we ate them . We were so impressed that we have made it our goal to enjoy a nice meal most days here!

I was tonight in store for a hot chocolate. Kiosk didn’t let me pay (it happened 6/10 times I was here) . When I got my order the hot chocolate was boiling hot that u burned my tongue, my friend was saying that I’m dramatic however when she tried she burned herself as well cause it was way hotter than her caffe. When u tried to get some ice or have it remade I was met with rude attitude and I was told that that they don’t have any ice. I wasn’t offered any milk and my friend needed to talk to them again to get some. Overall it wasn’t a pleasant time for me. I spent there 10 minutes and staff members were more interested in each other than work.

Horrible they forgot everything I ordered except the drinks

MC delivery via the "McDonalds" app. Lot of use that was. Order a few things and the share box £7.29 never arrived, just the dipps that come from it. Phone Uber who delivers it, no answer, phone McDonald's on an Edinburgh number, get voicemail, "won't deal with any app orders, see app for details" so I paid 7.29 for sharebox that never arrived and cannot speak to a sole about it. Been trying for 30 mins nothing, my time now is worth more than this. Won't order again.

I visit this McDonald's most often as it's near my office. I've found the food standard to always be really good. I'd say this was one of the better McDonald's branches. The meals are usually fresh and hot (bar the odd occasion the chips are a bit cold). Overall though, I rate this branch 👍

I'm not impressed with the vegan choice and I had the vegan burger but it wasn't very tasty and the children didn't like the food as they prefer burger king because the burgers are bigger and tasty. But unfortunately no burger king is near to where we had been shopping.

Literal sh1t show of a place. Go here if you want bad attitudes, to drive around twice and they try and double charge you, and to get your order wrong. Oh and the food is as hard as wood, cold and tasteless! Not the first time all of those things have happened either. Will not go back again!

My delivery was late for more than three hours and my food was cold and incorrect, I do not recommend ordering from here because each time I do they give me the wrong order, go somewhere else but save your money, I’m expecting a full refund on my recent order.

Everytime I come here, without a doubt. They always forget something with my order. I asked the guy this evening if small fries were included with my order as I noticed I didn't see them. Guy said yes, but obviously that was he haw as was missing that item when I checked soon as I got home. I ordering/used the drive thru service. The cleanest and the fastest McDonalds I've eaten at BUT, not to this particular place, but in general, whatever happened to your hot drinks? They are all disgusting and it wasn't this way before. The coffee is terrible, I tried them all looking for a bearable drink, the 'hot chocolate' tastes of water rather than milk! I used to love coffee at McDonalds now I avoid it like the plague.

I honestly would not recommend this McDonald’s as the staff are useless and they will rob you of your money if you make orders for delivery I asked for a two full meals costing at £9 odd each for them to send me a bag of 1 medium Fries and a single juice and they also refuse to refund or fix the orders when I went to the restaurant got told to leave the premises so they know what they are up too they just don’t care

This afternoon, Wednesday 23/8/23 I had lunch at 1250. I was served by Cai and Jake (or Jack?) and I was left feeling really pleased. Enough to go out of my way to write this review. Brownie Points where Brownie Points are due, I always say. It started with Cai helping me with the App and choosing a deal. There were no other cars in the drive through, so he didn't rush me or make me feel like I'm bothering him. That unfortunately happens all too often these days. After payment was made I went to next window where I remembered something so asked Jake/ Jack for a special request. Once again, like Cai, he was smiling, polite, friendly and helpful. Between them, they made my McDonald's personalized to my taste, they both brightened my day by being friendly and they went above and beyond when they didn't have to and most actually do not. Thanks, Fellas! Ronald McDonald would be very proud 🦚

Worst McDonald that iv ever been in !!

Had to return four ice cream Mcflurrys, that were bought for the family to eat, after our meal in the car. When we looked at them, we couldn't believe that they were they the smallest ice creams ever had out of ANY Mcdonalds. The whole take-a-way meal for the family was over £25 and they couldn't stop themselves for skimming on the ice cream.

Stopped here this morning early on way to my site......wouldn't advise it if listening to foul language is not your thing, possibly understand if it was a busy place & the staff were under pressure, but only me at the counter & 1 other customer sitting in... At one point, 3 members of staff at counter & none thought to ask if I was looking to be served.....

Coffee smells of cheap perfumes. Milkshakes machines never work. Drive through and then walk in because the order was wrong and I don't want to spend another half an hour to get back to drive thru. Not recommended.

Again on 28th June too many drivers in and noone can get near collection point coz them barging thru to get to the collection counter due to deliveroo drivers all queuing up....1855 order coffee, handed at 1905!! Getting absolutely ridiculous in all branches, all walking about in the branches like they own the chain!! Get them out restaurants until orders are ready to collect.... 1 rider smoking grass over at click n collect 4 &5....Terrible management in branch!!! 1 espresso and 1 mcflurry....20minutes 🤯

The worst MacDonald's of my life, rude staff, they didn't have napkins on June 22 because of the drive thru, the drink was an irun bru and it was hot because they didn't have ice, they charged me for the bag and I had 3 double cheeseburgers and a mayo chicken and some small fried papayas that have been put under the hamburgers and imagine how my horrible potatoes were, they tasted horrible, the ice cream was a big one and they have put it in a small glass and half, what a disaster of a restaurant, it is incredible how they have so many managers and with so little quality control and interest in good customer service that we are leaving our money on that site, I do not recommend it, perhaps other macdonald's work much better

Another company that advertise delivery within timescales that are just fictitious. If you are hungry, don’t put yourself through the misery of ordering from here as the staff don’t even check the orders processed by multiple home delivery platforms. Garbage.

Worst experience. I ordered Veggie deluxe meal, in which I requested hot chocolate but they delivered me water of bottle. Also I paid extra for cheese, but there was none. Seriously pathetic.
