We have been visiting this coffee shop for the past 8 years. Today we arrived and were immediatly greeted by a member of staff advising us that there would be a wait for food. No hello or our usual welcome and we knew something was amiss. A quick Facebook search confirmed that it was under new management. The staff were no longer as friendly as the previous owners. We’d like to give a special mention to Dee who we were informed no longer worked there. What a loss. We waited half an hour for our food despite the place not being at full capacity. Witnessed a lot of other customers complaining about the wait which didn’t make us feel at ease. Food arrived, one order was wrong but given the delay decided against sending it back. To be fair the waitress immediately tried to rectify the mistake but I politely declined. I really hope we can put the experience down to teething problems with the new manager as this place used to be expectational. I sincerely hope the new owners adhere to the policy of if it isn’t broke don’t fix it as this place used to be amazing but today’s experience did leave us unfulfilled.

Managed to get last table available this morning. Previously we have eaten at outside tables. The staff are busy and friendly, and were seen cleaning the tables regularly. We had 2 breakfast, and food was hot and tasty. There is a clean toilet at the rear. The only minor fault I could find was the premises are fairly small, and room does feel somewhat cramped when full of customers. I would happily recommend McDees Cafe to anyone.

We booked a family afternoon tea at McDee’s for our son’s birthday and it was excellent from start to finish. The food was delicious and beautifully presented and the service was kind and generous throughout. They also went above and beyond to make something special for my husband to eat as he wasn’t able to have the afternoon tea due to his dietary requirements. They made us all so welcome and we really enjoyed it. I’d highly recommend McDee’s and we’ll certainly be back. Thank you for making our son’s birthday do special.

I came here after my wife had had a nice drink and cake with friends. I had an xmas turkey barm with salad and small salad potatoes, and it was fantastic. My wife had the quiche, again with salad One of my pet hates is getting so called salad that's unwashed and dry, this salad was fabulous. The whole meal was fab and my wife raved about her quiche. I didn't have the coffee but I asked for a strong hot chocolate and they didn't let me down. Overall, it did the job and I'll defo go again. I've read some of the reviews on here and one commented about the size and that there wasn't a table available. I could imagine being disappointing but there's nothing that can be done about the size of any place you choose to eat at. My advice is, if you go early you'll get a table, if you go later, it's pot luck. Unfortunately, the sign of a good cafe is the difficulty of getting in. It was a little pricy but considering the delisheshness, it was well worth it and I'm looking forward to our next visit

As this cafe is local to us and we had heard good reviews, we decided to try it. It is in a lovely location in Culceth village and provides indoor seating in addition to shaded outdoor seating, perfect for today’s hot weather. We ordered diet cokes which were served to us swiftly upon seating with ice and glasses, which was lovely and refreshing. We ordered a ham and cheese toastie in granary bread. The toastie arrived in less than 5 minutes after ordering and was very tasty. It came alongside salad and coleslaw, which was a nice addition. We also ordered carrot cake, which was beautiful, flavourful and moist. And a lemon meringue pie slice, which was absolutely amazing, a big portion size( could perhaps be shared between two people) and tasted stunning, the highlight of our lunch here. Before leaving, we ordered cappuccinos, which were lovely and had plenty of foam on top with a dusting of cocoa powder, good attention to detail. Overall, we would definitely re visit this cafe as the food was excellent, it is local and reasonably priced.

The local independent shoe stores to us have all closed so we make the trip to Culcheth twice per year, we always arrange our visit to coincide with lunch! McDees food whether before or after the ownership change remains the same and that’s beautiful. It’s freshly prepared, tastes great and the staff are a pleasure to deal with. The new surroundings are very tastefully done, comfortable and clean. We are always made to feel welcome as are my two boys aged eleven and ten who always ask before we set off, are we going to the cafe for lunch. It’s always full when we visit which is testament to its appeal.

From all day breakfasts to afternoon tea for ‘ladies who lunch’ Mcdee’s has it all. Fresh cooked on the premises the food is great. Visited for the first time today. Was greeted by a lady who said she would be with me in a minute but as the shop is that full of tables there was no counter as such so ended up standing in the middle of the cafe and tables whilst people ate whilst my order was took.I decided to take a seat at a table whilst I waited and the same lady then shouted across the cafe asking for my order. As there is no counter I had to shout back and my order had to be repeated a number of times. My order was bacon and egg on toast with brown sauce. When my order was ready it was presented in a cardboard box. I went to the counter and paid just short of £4 for bacon and egg which is a little steep. I don't look physically disabled but I actually am and have a tube in my back for medical reasons. I asked if I could eat my breakfast inside as when I stood up to pay my back was sore. I was advised no by the lady as I had paid for my food to be taken away and not to eat in. I was not offered the chance to pay extra and it was just a straight no I cannot eat in. Another member of staff tried to advise me I could stay seated when she heard this but I was already looking like an idiot in front of everyone in the shop and I decided to leave. The best bit is despite the nice presentation the order was wrong. How do you get bacon and egg on toast so wrong, charge just short of £4 and have so little friendliness to your customer. A friend of mine advised me to try the cafe a while ago so I did. I have just rang him to tell him my experience and he too now doesn't go in anymore Avoid at a costs and I will not return.

Jacket potato’s Cooked in the microwave not fully cooked and hard . Scone stale and inedible. They charged the incorrect amount. We questioned this and the lady serving did say that she had made a mistake. Yet when I paid the bill I was charged an extra £3Expensive for undercooked poor quality food. Almost £30 for two jackets, one coffee and a quiche. Won’t be returning or recommending. We have lived in the village for many years . This quality and service is not acceptable.

I'm self employed and go to cafes everyday to work as I like the ambience and it helps me to focus. I don't often buy food because of cost (and food allergies) and I typically make one drink stretch 1 hour or more before I buy another or move on as, again, cost, and the fact that I don't go there because I'm thirsty. I understand that this can be seen as a bit miserly and annoying for cafes, but the way I see it my custom will add up over time the same as someone who comes in say, only once a week, and orders food - AND I try not to occupy a table when the cafe is busy, so as not to deny the cafe more high paying customers.Anyway, I got the vibe from staff after a few visits that my visits were not particularly welcome, and finally on one occasion I was asked after half an hour to buy a second drink or leave as "This isn't an internet cafe". The cafe was about 3/4 empty at the time.I left and won't be back. Shame.

McDees was previously one of the best, affordable cafe's in Culcheth. It changed owners a year or so ago and we hadn't really been in since. So today we decided to give it a go for lunch and were distinctly unimpressed. Prices have gone up significantly, over £21 for a breakfast, a bowl of hot pot, plus one cup of coffee and tea each is excessive. Service was a bit too unprofessional as well, being called "cock" by the waitress didn't leave my better half endeared to her! Sorry but this place has definitely gone down hill recently, I can't see us going back, something a few years ago I never thought I'd say !

We called in for a hot drink after seeing the Coffee Shop whilst driving through Culcheth.Staff welcomed us. We noticed the nice display of cakes available and decided to have two scones one with Jam and two cappuccinos. The coffees were good, the scones were a little dry, but not worth complaining about. When I went to the counter to pay I was charged exactly £13.00. It was only when we left the shop and I told my wife about it, that we realised how expensive it was and thought they must have overcharged us or mixed up our order with another customer! I made my way back and questioned one of the staff who had served us and was serving customers outside. She told me our Sultana scones were £3.75 each ( no mention of the cost of Jam )and coffees £2.75 each and she pointed to the menu on the window. My wife was convinced that the scone with butter was priced at £2.00 in the table menu ! Whilst we occasionally like scones I do not recall ever paying that price at other coffee shops for them, so I will not be returning again.

Wow, just come back from Afternoon Tea. The surroundings are very homely and the staff welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. We were asked whether the sandwich fillings were to our taste and could have changed them if we wanted. The food was very nice, well presented and tasted great. There was mini quiche and a small salad, crisps, sandwiches, mini cakes, cream scone and a small dessert. It was accompanied by bottomless tea or coffee. It would make a lovely treat/present for a friend. We could have had alcohol but as we were driving we just had coffee. Need to book in advance but we only booked a couple of days before.

Very enjoyable visit. It was almost full when we arrived at 10:15, found an empty table and never felt cramped. Service very good and excellent scone, butter and jam. Having not seen each other for some time we stayed chatting until 11:30 and were never disturbed or rushed once. Yes at 11:30 the cafe was almost empty but we were left in peace. Thank you.

Such lovely ladies that were very friendly and the food was excellent. We have had a few afternoon teas at various 'renowned' places but this was the best by far. There was so much to eat that the waitress offered to parcel up anything we couldn't eat when she first brought the food over to us, suggesting this happens all the time. It's a really small cafe so you would need to book in advance for a table as is very popular.

Lovely food, freshly made. Breakfasts are wonderful, staff friendly. The room is a little on the small side therefore you can feel cramped and very little room for movement around the tables

Firstly I want to extend a big thank you to Gill for being so accommodating & replying promptly to my messages. I booked afternoon tea as a treat for my Mum after we recently suffered a family bereavement. We arrived to a beautifully set table & a warm welcome from all the staff. Gill introduced herself also which was a nice touch. The afternoon tea was by far the best we have ever had. Sandwiches delicately made with delicious salmon, prawn, thick cut ham & turkey & cranberry fillings. The quiche as always was delightful & the coleslaw crisp & fresh. The cake selection was simply amazing & the dessert presented in the mini glasses, was a real treat. The afternoon tea is priced at £15 pp & its worth every penny. Everything about our experience today was simply fantastic. Thank you to all the staff & Gill.

Took my daughter for lunch the other day, was about 1/2 full when we arrived, but we were literally sardines by the time it had filled up. Too many tables cramped into the small place. We checked out the menu, and I'd normally have a sandwich, but they averaged about £7.00, wow seems steep!!We plumped for the soup which I have to say was delicious. Came with a big slice of chunky bread and butter. Service was good, food was nice but still too expensive.

I visited for the first time ever this weekend with my Dad. My Dad eats here regularly & suggested I try it. I wasn't disappointed. We both ordered the home made quiche & whilst I thought the price was a little expensive for a square of quiche & some salad, it was the best quiche I've ever had. Staff were pleasant & the venue lovely. I plan on going back soon.

Breakfast was lovely, nice to see a cafe offering brown toast and poached egg being on slimming world it's just fab. Eggs where tasty and you could taste the quality in the food. Nice to see the staff having conversations with the locals, my only comment would be there is only 1 girl with their hair in a tight bun this is unusual cause usually I find in the catering industry staff have their hair in hats, nets or tight bun. Just a suggestion. Lovely little cafe, tasty food, polite staff. Being a wagon driver this is often hard to find. Happy new year

I visited for lunch with my wife, we sat by the window and waited a while to be served. The breakfast is normally really good, I had the full monty which was fine except for a large foreign object on my bacon which I think was a burnt piece of stuffing...... We had a pot of tea for two which came a while after the food had arrived. We used to call for lunch at least once a week and the food and service and was generally quite brilliant although we stopped visiting as often mainly because we noticed a drop in standards. Don't get me wrong, my complaints are about odd niggles hear and there and nothing that serious and at the end of the day this caffe even on a bad day is better than most.I have rated this visit as average although if I hadn't experienced any issues I would have rated given a very good rating.

We called in McDees for breakfast on Saturday 7th November. We had never been before and called here because Bents was so busy. The choice is superb, produce is high quality, and the service is excellent. It was busy but we didn't have to wait long. I had bacon, sausage and tomato and my partner had smoked salmon and poached eggs. Absolutely delicious.

Usually fabulous service. However today we waited 20 minutes outside hoping to be served. The staff could clearly see us as they where sat eating near the windows. Two staff present on the tills facing the window which means we where in clear view. If they where busy it would be understandable. Such a shame as I liked the establishment previously to this.

Had heard about this place on the grapevine. Travelled from home to get lunch there (5miles) nothing special, sorry to say. It's just a small cafe, similar to many others, not outstanding. We had home made quiche salad. The quiche was enormous in size but not quite as big on flavour. However, the staff are very attentive and pleasant. If you live locally, then it's fine but I wouldn't recommend a special journey to visit it.

Another cracking meal Having had a really enjoyable visit with my parents last year we returned on a Sunday evening. Once again we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and received excellent service. I had a burger again which was cooked nicely and had great flavours. The bun was a bit dry though. I had it with truffle parmesan fries and they were great. My Mum had mixed grill hanging kebab. All really good quality meats. She swapped fries for a portion of garlic broccoli. My Dad opted for the roast again and that was also fantastic. Clean plates all round. Previous visit: Absolutely banging prime cheeseburger! One of the best tasting beef patties I've ever had. Thick and juicy with superb flavour. You won't find a better one in Warrington. Really high quality meat. The bun was nice and the sauce was tasty too but didn't need quite so much of it. I like a messy burger but it was slipping out of my hands. The triple cooked chips were fluffy and crispy and just about the right size portion considering I had the rib starter on the side too! They were delicious as well, nicely seasoned and the right amount of sauce on them. I was disappointed that the pulled pork burger addition wasn't available but I still thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The service was great too, really pleasant staff. My Dad enjoyed the roast and my Mum really liked the teriyaki fish kebab. Closer to a fine dining place but not overpriced for the quality of the food and service.

Birthday Meal for the wife who had a fillet steak I had a ribeye both of which were cooked to perfection, the chips were huge and very tasty. Size wise they were on par with the stones at stonehenge, nice to get proper sized chips. The wife also had a side salad which unlike most other places contained more than just lettuce. A bottle of Waddling Duck Sauvignon Blanc and Orchard Thieves cider for me which made for a great experience. We thought it couldn't get any better until the sweet came out, a cherry cheesecake but no ordinary cheesecake. The chef had made a large cherry out of the cheesecake mixture with a red glaze and a slither of chocolate for the stalk and placed on a biscuit base. Overall a very good experience, from initially walking in to walking out all the staff were very helpful, smiling and never in your face. We'll be back on Saturday.
