Delivery earlier than expected food cold?

Food is good but service is terrible!! Ordered Saturday night with the young lady told 45 minutes it would be ready. 1.5 hours later I walked out the shop with my order. While I was waiting a lady who was already in there when I arrived at 7.15 had been waiting since 6pm. A lady in the queue called emma twice asked how long her order would be - ignored by the young girl and then the young lad said he’d check then didn’t come back to her. In the meantime whilst waiting to be served- the girl who has her back at all times to the customers and will only take phone calls I heard the young chap take a call from another ‘Emma’ the pick up Emma’s food had been sent to delivery Emma’s house by mistake. Nothing was said to collection emma at all- I told her once I’d been seen. Again she asked what was happening with the order- the yound lad would ‘check’ knowing full well what had happened but didn’t tell her anything. Honestly such shocking service from the front of house staff. At one point the chef or owner came out twice as they were too busy ignoring the orders being ready for us in the shop to picking up the phones. The young lad was certainly trying his best but was nervous with customer if something was wrong. The young girl, I’m sorry to say should not be there. No customer service skills whatsoever. Zero. The front of house certainly makes the place run and it was not running and hasn’t been for sometime

I have used Mays Kitchen for many years. In mine, my partner’s and family and friend’s opinion, it is the BEST Chinese we have ever had. It is always fresh, hot and delicious. The staff are always friendly. It can get busy of a weekend so we collect instead. We often eat the left overs the next day and have never had any issues.

Service time a bit slow, food not great, quite overcooked. Staff were pleasant enough in my opinion.

I ordered my food , this was a Saturday night so I’d expect it to be busy, I was told a hour and my food eventually arrived after 1hr and 40 minutes. The food was cold when it arrived and my bottle of drink was missing. The driver apologised and told me I would get my bottle of drink the next time I ordered. Not exactly great and I now wish I’d asked him to go back and get it for me because I just tried ordering tonight’s meal only to be told they can’t give me my bottle of drink that I have already paid before because I have no proof! I’ve ordered from here multiple times but I will never order from here again! Disgusting treatment of a once loyal customer!

Asked for a chicken soup. Guy on the register said yes and repeated the order back to me stating chicken soup. After a two hour wait for the food, I received a chicken curry. I called May's Kitchen again and they said the order said chicken curry and, when asked, the guy said he repeated chicken curry to me. I never review places, even if I get bad service because why would I? That being said, the outright lie got under my skin. I was told that the Chef Special/chicken udon that was also ordered was good. Lots of chicken included. *Edit: Normally, I would give the benefit of the doubt and move on. However, as odd as a statement this is, I have never been more sure of the fact that I said, and heard back, the words "chicken soup."

Way bellow average. I ordered Singapore noodles. It was bland as a baby’s skin. Had to drench it in soy sauce. The house special fried rice was terrible looking and tasted a solid 3/10. I’ve ordered twice just to ensure that I was not mistaken. By far, one of the worst Chinese restaurant take away I have ever tried in my entire life. I live Chinese food, but detest the food of this place. I do not recommend at all. They did have decent chicken balls tho.

Worst Chinese ive ever been to. Forgot 2 of our dishes. Then bought them to us and gave my friend a chicken and sweetcorn soup when we asked for sweetcorn (as she is vegetarian) also looked in the soup and noticed some nice chunks of thick black hair floating around. I immediatley called for another soup when they tried to tell me i didn't order a sweetcorn soup when they read it back to us. They then agreed to make me another with no compensation and refused to drop it to us and said we have to pick it up when we had travelled there twice because of their mistakes. They then finally agreed to drop the soup to us which took half an hour. When i got to the door the soup was found on the floor with no one to be seen. Pictures of the soup can be found below:

Food = Top Notch Service = Poor Delivery = Waited around 2-2.5hrs (they don’t answer phone either) Collection = Turn up 20 mins after the given expected time because trust me , it’s not ready What a shame , because the salt and pepper chips are banging , it’s just the service and delivery that hurts

£50+ order and they forgot a second portion of the salt and pepper chili chips. Called back to have another portion delivered and I get told that I am a liar basically...having explained that 2 portions were ordered they still wouldn't have it. If you have paid for it you should get it. will not be going back.

the food here was absolutely dreadful. it took so long to come too. all the staff were rude except for the curly haired young lad who was very helpful and kind x

I saw the high rating for this takeaway so placed an order… then I saw more recent reviews that were terrible so was dreading my order arriving. I’m happy to say that not only did the complete order arrive ahead of time it was DELICIOUS! Everything tasted fresh and not heavily seasoned with MSG. Will definitely be ordering from May’s Kitchen again!

Didn’t get what I want and doesn’t taste the right smell

Have to say gone down hill since being taken over, had the kung po chicken and was more kung poo then po, coating was awful and not cooked properly, I’d give it a miss if I was you

Food was lovely… as for the rest, what a joke! Waited an hour and 45 for the food to be delivered to start with. Was told by the young person answering the phones that after an hour it was going to arrive in 5 minutes. Twenty minutes later we called back and still no food! Told by the same call taker that he thinks our food is on its way. After an hour and fourty we called back and asked to speak to a manager and this young call taker relayed the question to another member of staff and said ‘shall I just tell her no!?’ Like I said.. the food was delicious but the member of staff in question needs a lesson or two in customer service or even just general manners! Food arrived with a meal missing so restaurant sent the missing meal with a £5 refund so they did try to rectify the issue.

One of the best take aways I've had in a long time. Glad we gave it a go. On time, Good quality. Great taste 👌

I have used May’s Kitchen for the last 3 years and have never ever had reason to complain. The food is always piping hot, not greasy or salty like your general Chinese takeaway. The staff are always accommodating and polite. Highly recommend

use mays kitchen all the time but they say it will be 40min for derlivery when it takes them 90min+ . They don't ring to tell you its going to be a lot later Or offer any discounts.

We ordered a large meal for a birthday (£77) The order was reread to us when placed and yet they still forgot the chips. When we phoned to tell them we were met with a hostile response, so never actually got the chips. The Lemon Chicken was pink in the middle and the sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style was cold. Not impressed at all!!!

Just had our first takeaway from this restaurant and it was amazing. Really tasty, generous portions and piping hot when we went to collect it. This will definitely be our new Chinese.

Great food. however pick up timings should be sorted, eg, when you place your order and given a time the food should be ready instead of waiting an extra 20+ minutes, they should also confirm your order back to you to avoid missing items,

Wrong order arrived. Charged us twice. Refused to correct order. Heard telling then young boy that it was his mistake and he was paying the refund out of his wages.

Had food from hear for some reason I decided to pull one of the prawn balls apart thank god I did there was this dark grey squash lump inside it smelt off egg! I have taken a photo of this as proof.

Food is good, not greasy or over dressed, the only down is their free Prawn crackers are the smallest portions I've ever seen.

We use this chinese takeaway regular. Food tasty, good portions always hot with fast delivery & priced similar to others. When it comes to Chinese everyone has their own tastes but we enjoy the meals from there. People always will find faults & until we do find faults we will stick with them .

In my opinion Mays Kitchen is the best Chinese takeaway in Billericay. Best tasting food, friendly staff and delivery time is good. It can be busy at times, but that just goes to show how good it is!

I ordered food got told 90mins which I thought was Very long but heard it was good so thought I’d wait phoned up after 1hour 40 mins to find out where the food was and they said it was still being cooked when I asked for a time that it would be delivered the lady on the phone refused to give me a time and wasn’t helpful at all now I have been waiting for 2hours 15mins and the food still hasn’t arrived. I will never use this place again.

Have tried a few of the Chinese takeaways and May's is the best we have come across recentl, tried tonight for first time. Lovely, tender crispy aromatic duck tonight and rest of dishes were excellent. Thoroughly recommend

We ordered early 6pm and got it at the door by 6 30, the food was very hot and the barbecue ribs great, we have used this take away four or five times and has always been good, thank you

standard food, nice mushroom rice, basic main dishes. the seaweed can be variable have been ordering over past year on a number of occasions and have had the food delivered with no problems.

Good food reasonable delivery time well packed and still hot. reasonable priced Could have been a little more generous with Prawn Crackers, ( only half a small bag ( maybe their stocks were low , overall food and service was good with No mistakes with order

May's Kitchen . is a Chinese takeaway in Billericay Essex ,They serve good food but unfortuanately the kitchen staff seem to be making more mistakes with their orders, eg wrong food or items missing from order , sometimes the order to be delivered seems to take the longest route to arrive , recently we had a regular driver but he had been given the wrong address, and then to top that part of our order was totally wrong , so we had to call again to get this corrected which of course meant that our meal was somewhat spoiled by the fact that only half had arrived , that was about 10 days ago , and yesterday evening we had family visit ,our order was placed and we were told about 45 minutes however 1 hour and 10 minutes later we had to phone again and were told it was on the way ,the food was received and on checking the order 2 items were missing. another call was made they agreed to send out the rest of the food and the man taking the orders apologised ,However this was NOT his fault, again it was the kitchen staff, WE would suggest that they { the staff at Mays' Kitchen ) check all orders whether placed over the counter or telephone orders , when the food is all correct it is very good and tasty , but we just hope that they start getting things correct as there is nothing worse than expecting a nice meal to have it spoilt by incompetent people

Food is extremely greasy, and expensive but not surprised. Paid in cash and accidentally gave an extra £10 note and the woman kept it!!!! She didn’t even think about giving it back, so greedy and rude. Not a lot of money to some people but it is to me. Absolutely disgusted at these peoples’ morals and actions, will never ever use this place again. Staff are so rude.

This was meant to be BBQ spare ribs, they swam in greasy oil, no sauce other than fat. When I phoned the man said "well that's your opinion" very rude and I threw it all away! £21 down the drain!!! Never use this place.

Third time we have used this take away and it's not third time lucky. We used them again as the food has always been good. Unfortunately the delivery service is terrible. Have waited now nearly two hours and before we have had to wait at least an hour. Unfortunately when the food arrives it's wonderful. So my advice is go and get it ! Don't phone just go in and order.

Absolutely disgrace this place should not be in business

Firstly got to say the food was very nice which makes the negative part of the review even more frustrating. Ordered a delivery early evening on a Saturday so was expecting to wait a while so 30-45 mins I was told was perfectly acceptable although I was already worried when girl on the phone said she hadn't put order through and will do it when she gets off the phone. After an hour I was told it was 5 mins from leaving shop which was obviously a lie( suspect my order was not put through as was my concern)as after another half hour I had to ring them again. It did then turn up but by this time was an hour late. To top this off one of the items we ordered was wrong but I was so hangry by then we wrote that off. Conclusion good food but poor service when busy and as I don't want my takeaway treat to be a stressful annoying experience I will be trying other places in area before going back to Mays Kitchen.

Have used this Chinese takeaway for delivery on a number of occasions. They deliver on time, the food is always hot and good and it's one of the few places locally that do Sweet and Sour Chicken sliced in batter - most only do the balls which is more batter than chicken. Happy tor recommend.

Ordered a takeout two and a half hours ago now. We called the restaurant after one hour and the lady on the phone was unhelpful and didnt seem to have a clue where our order was. She told us it was out for delivery because it wasnt in the shop (and therefore must be out on delivery). We then called up again half an hour later and had the same unhelpful response. Finally, two and a half hours later we are still sat here waiting for our order to come through. So we call the restaurant (which by the way is at the bottom of our road two minutes away) and are told that we never made an order. I clearly must have been imagining things. Essentially whoever took our order on the phone clearly didnt put it through for us and lied to us two to three times telling us that it was still our for delivery. Poor service. If you actually want food i would order from a different takeaway.

One of the best Chinese Takeaways I've ever had. I've tried most of the Chinese offerings in Billericay and this is a 10/10 for me. Food delivery is quick, food is hot, generous portion sizes, no grease and it's absolutely delicious

The absolute best Chinese around. The staff are so professional and nothing is too much trouble. Even when they are busy they don't rush you. I always pay by card and they never make a fuse about it. The delivery time (even when busy) is so quick. The food is delicious and warm. Outstanding all around in my eyes. Thank you for never disappointing us.

Love the food here and nice staff too. Only 4 stars though as our favourite has recently been removed from the menu, still lots of delicious food to choose from.
