Mayflower Theatre in Southampton

Great venue, comfy seats, lovely staff and of course Brilliant production of an excellent show!!

Went to see "Joseph and his technicolor dream coat " Was really disappointed. Thought this was supposed to be one of the all time greats. More like a Pantomime. Very very disappointed. If you are going to change the show it should be advertised as revamped.

We had a fabulous time at the afternoon tea and then Joseph and his technicolour dream coat. Very high quality. The children were excellent. Big smiles all round . High energy in the audience. Fabulous. Well done and thank you.

I love the shows and the variety of them but the seats are awful! Rip them out!

Great show, the theatre was clean and welcoming with comfortable seating, the staff were also helpful and polite.

This was my first visit to the Mayflower Theatre. I live in the West Midlands, and my daughter and I were looking at what was on at different theatres outside of Birmingham as we fancied something a little bit different. The Mayflower Theatre was home to Hamilton on the date we were looking to see something. We really enjoyed our visit.

The stars of the show all I think signed autographs and chatted to the waiting fans by the stage door it was lovely to see.

I worked here many years ago so it always has fond memories. Beautiful building, better seats/space than years ago, and as always a great selection of shows.

Always a good evening out here , easy to get to and from. Even when fully booked you do not have a problem getting served in the bar .

Lovely theatre. I remember going here when it was a cinema. Seats are a bit cramped.

I've been here many times, the disabled access area is brilliant, and the staff have always been helpful; they even have plant based ice cream for the interval #winning

We saw the Welsh National Opera performing the marriage of Figaro. The opera company were fantastic, a brilliant performance. The Mayflower theatre sent out an email with the incorrect end time, stating it would end at 2145, this was misleading as it did not end until 2230. There are limited toilets for the Circle, so get there early to make sure you can go before the performance starts.

Seats are too small for leg room, was uncomfortable after 10 minutes so I couldn't focus on the show. I'm only 5ft 9! For the gents, it's only cubicles so long queues and was late back after the interval due to this. Will be avoiding this venue in future.

Large theatre, helpful staff, architecture inside is impressive. Nice bars. Lovely visit.

Great theatre, would advise against parking in West gate car park, took 30 minutes to leave!!

Worst toilets in any theatre why take away the urinals just 2 cubicles and a very long queue now well done 👏

Great performance of Hamilton. Good acoustics. Sadly spoiled by lack of legroom in seats. Knees are touching seat in front, could barely walk at the end of first half of a lengthy performance. I am 5ft 5in. Prefer the modern Mast Studios, or Fareham Live.

Really nice theatre. Seating comfortable and good angle of incline. They really helped us out when we arrived on the wrong day for a show!!

I was there yesterday (23/4/25) and I was watching Hamilton and was sat in the row just in front of the back row. During the song "say no to this" (2nd half) some random lady leaned in and said loud enough for the other people around us (including my dad) to hear and said " excuse me, can you shut up". Which took me by suprise a bit because that had never happened to me before so I kind looked around a bit like "what?" And then I looked at my dad and at that moment I knew he wouldn't bother even asking the womean why she said that. So after the show he reported it to a staff member who was like " well we have a very strict anti-singing policy" and my dad was like " well she wasnt singing and while I appreciate that, I would like something to happen about it, as my teenage daughter has just been told to shut up in a show she really likes" but I highly doubt the person he was talking to is going to do anything in the favour of their " policy". I used to love thetre but after this I'm well Kind of thinking whell what'the point. Both tickets and merch are ridiculously expensive, staff doesn't really bother with anything that their visitors are unhappy about and of course you get rude people like this. To make matters worse I was just minding my business watch Hamilton. So I've got my next show here in may (kinky boots) so well see how that goes b and I'm not trying to sound Karen-like but I don't think there really is another way of having this somewhere. What a shame.

Great view wherever you sit. The seats are very comfortable too with good legroom.

The most uncomfortable seating ever. I couldn't watch the second half and sat in the closed bar waiting for the rest of my group. 1 star only because of friendly staff

I had a great time at the Mayflower Theatre! My parents treated me for my 30th birthday and got tickets to see the Hamilton tour, and the show was astounding. The theatre staff were super friendly and helpful, the inside was a little cramped (but it would be for the number of people in attendance), the seats were comfortable and everything ran so smoothly. It was a great afternoon.

Good venue, easy to get in and out afterwards. The show was excellent as well.

My grandson and I had a marvellous visit to the Mayflower Theatre recently to watch 'Hamilton'. Terrific performances. However the short interval midway through the performance for comfort break gave rise to very long queues especially for the toilets. 2000 people need more facilities. Despite this hindrance we both had a great time.

First time seeing a show here and saw Hamilton. Had the feeling of a West End theatre and the production was amazing

Lovely old theatre. Great atmosphere. Top notch shows. Our front of rear circle seats were central and had good leg room and fantastic views.

Great show (Hamilton) but really uncomfortable by the end of quite a long show. The leg room is very tight and I am an average sized woman. A person on my left could not sit through the second half. Time for new seating.

Another visit and seeing Hamilton was exceptional

Went to see Hamilton, which was brilliant. The staff and security were helpful and efficient. Very impressed with seats..knees were not touching row in front. Great experience.

On 07/04/25 I went to go see Hamilton at the Mayflower Theatre and I was blown away! If you're considering going... I highly recommend you do! The cast was incredible and the live band was fantastic. The set and lighting was mesmerise, truly a spectacle to watch! The merchandise was great and had a wide variety. We only bought the programme. The foyer was nicely decorated with costumes from the show and places to take your pictures. The show was 1hr 15 per act with a 15 min interval making it approximately 2hr 45mins long. We got out of Southampton at 10:30pm easily with the show starting at 7:30pm Hamilton is a must watch, get tickets while you can!

This is a very big thank you to all the staff working on the matinee performance on Hamilton on the 5.4.25. The show was amazing, unfortunately, a few minutes before the end of the show my mother was taken unwell. I would like to thank all of you for your help and professionalism, your assistance helping her up the stairs, ensuring that exit doors by the lift where closed to give my mother privacy and time to take a moment recover and messaging down to the foyer to have someone waiting with a chair to sit on whilst I fetched the car. A very big thank you. She is fully recovered and ok .

Showing Hamilton, very good performance, great theater well organised, great experience

We saw Hamilton at the Mayflower Theatre earlier this week and it was absolutely incredible. The cast brought so much energy to the stage, and every musical number was flawless. Our seats were great, but honestly, the layout of the Mayflower means you’re guaranteed a good view wherever you sit. It’s such a well-designed theatre. We’re already looking forward to seeing what other shows are coming to Southampton - this visit definitely reminded us how lucky we are to have such a fantastic venue so close by.

This theatre is wonderful! I’ve visited several times, but am motivated to review for what has to be one of the best productions I’ve ever seen - Hamilton! 🤩 Such a wonderful evening in Southampton!

Hamilton was absolutely phenomenal. Quite possibly my new favourite show!! Can't fault the performance or venue it was a brilliant night.

Lovely theatre with super helpful staff both on the phone and in person at the performance. Good disabled access to accommodate my mobility scooter and good provision for disabled access seating. Highly recommended.

Really good place, has easy accessibility for wheelchairs and the like. Servers drinks and food inside at theatre prices but that's what you expect and the bar has a good selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. The shows are always good that I've seen there and never been any issues

Great place, good shows close to train station , so walking distance not an issue .

Enjoyed many great shows at the Mayflower, the most recent being Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake. There are also many good bars and restaurants locally if you wish to extend your evening.

Really great theatre..just as good as the West End..but cheaper and you can get great seats. Parking can be a challenge.. best to arrive early. Lovely theatre staff.

Went to see Hamilton Very well acted but we did struggle to hear what they were singing rapping sat on the balcony very high up lots of steps

Bit dated. The stage is very darkly lit and difficult to view from the balcony. Lots of steps and lifts not working. There were some disabled people who'd struggled to get up the stairs. Uncomfortable seats. On a positive, the show was great

Just watched Hamilton and it was fantastic, one of the best theatre experiences ive had. The only reason this is a 4 instead of a 5 is because the toilets (at least the ones in the balcony) were not in a condition i consider acceptable.

An amazing set for a Murder on the Orient Express. Great acting, wonderful cast.

It's the biggest and best theatre in the South for a reason. Shame "Picture you dead" was not better attended. Live theatre is the best!

Went to watch "only fools and horses" with friends. Amazing seats, perfect view

Brilliant show, good staff. However, terrible seats for those over 6ft in the top circle. I'm 6' 4" and had an awful time. Legs bruised, and dpoilt the production of OFAH.

Seats are really tight together on the balcony. Felt quite claustrophobic. Very warm inside. Great multi storey car park in next road but queues to get out after shows are ridiculous and not managed.

Love going to see shows at The Mayflower Theatre. Always get in early enough to get a drink and snacks if you want some. The staff are always polite and helpful too.

We were in the circle and the seats are small for people with long legs, the show was great. Parking is available at multi story car parks.

One of the best places to go in Southampton! Clean, lovely staff, and the show was amazing! There was a medical emergency in the crowd, and the staff were quick to react, and the show was restarted quickly. Fantastic atmosphere. Quite a magical experience!

Really nice venue. If you're driving, a bit of advice: don't use the car park immediately behind near the station. It gets really jam packed when leaving after the show because everyone wants to do the same and the lights outside cause a problem. We might try parking and walking next time.

Tonight myself and my husband came to watch the only.fools.and horses musical 8.3.25 which we had been looking forward to as my Husband is a huge only fools and horse fan We were seated in the Balcony section seats K8 & K9. We cannot belive how compacted these seats are. Neither of us are all or overweight but we both felt extrenly costraphobic and uncomfortable due to the lack of.room. What did not help was the fact if was beyond hot in there to the point my husband felt faint and I was sweating . Due to these factors we were left with no choice but to leave at the interval. We were not the only ones in this posistion as we witnessed others also walking to there cars for what we can only assume are due to similar experience of ours. We have been to many musicals and shows before and this is by far the worst experience we have had. What makes this worst for us personally is this was the first time we have been out as a Couple in a year and a half since our youngest Child was born,  what was meant to be a nice evening out has now Been ruined.

Good theatre and well produced show but accessibility was not very good either organisation or facilities which were limited

Loved the performance we went to see. Theatre ground floor of what I think is student accommodation. Food and drinks reasonably priced at theatre prices. Multi storey parking available nearby but you will need to walk. Bear this in mind so you have time to get there

Had a great day when I was at the theatre to see 'Cinderella' by Birmingham Royal Ballet.

Visited here yesterday to see our friend Sam Lupton star in the production of televisions Only Fools And Horses. Wow. What a wonderful theatre, steeped in history, and the show was also outstanding, receiving a standing ovation from the audience. The theatre staff were all superb - friendly, helpful and professional. Theatre is as important today as it’s always been. Please do go and see a show here if you get the chance, you won’t regret it as it is a wonderful experience.

Lovely theatre, hosting some fantastic performances, both touring shows and local ones. Most recently I was here to watch Murder on the Orient Express, which was amazing. The seats are comfortable and have room for long legs and the prices for drinks and snacks are most reasonable. Only comment is that it gets quite hot in the theatre so bring layers you can take off.

I went to see Murder on the Orient Express. Throughly enjoyed it. Very good. And time & effort was spent on props, excellent train. Would definitely go again.

Me and my girlfriend went and saw Ghost it was amazing. The acting singing and dancing. Fantastic night.
