Korean BBQ (K.BAP Restaurant) in Southampton

Really enjoyed the experience at K.BAP - so many delicious flavours and textures. Loved the selection of tasty fresh sides like kimchi and pickled radish. The novelty of cooking in the middle of the table added an interesting element, and it was great for keeping food warm. Staff were very attentive, ensuring there was no risk of undercooking the meats. The fried chicken just fell off the bone and melted in the mouth too (after getting through the insanely crunchy coating!). The mix of delicious Korean spices went incredibly well with a couple of cold Korean beers. Highly recommended if you're ever in Southampton!

We have been to k bap so many times now. The food is the best I have ever had. I cant fault this place. Food is beyond belief. Staff are friendly. We come over from the isle of wight to eat here. Love it.

Ended up at K.BAP by chance before catching a train home, and so glad we did. We tried marinated beef for the BBQ and deep-fried chicken in sweet and sour sauce, and both were incredibly tasty. I cannot claim to know Korean food well, but I do know when something is delicious, so I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant and I wish I could visit it more myself. The lady who attended to our table was very friendly, helpful and all-around lovely, many thanks to her for our most enjoyable lunch break.

Very bad service. The light was very dark, and one lamp kept flashing. The staff had a bad attitude and ignored people. There was a terrible smell at the table we were sitting at. When we asked to change seats, the waiter simply said, "You can go." So we immediately chose to leave. It was one of the worst dining experiences we had in Southampton. And what I said is the truth, from the time I entered the restaurant to the order a total of 4 times you did not pay attention to us and finally we need to write our own order and send you to successfully order. Do you respect your customers? I've been putting up with you for 30 minutes, your shop does smell bad, there are empty tables next to you, you are not doing anything to solve the problem, but just tell me to leave, how can I not be angry? Is that how you serve? you have time to make excuses here, so why don't you deodorize your restaurant and learn how to talk to customers instead of just telling me ‘you can go’. I think old woman have to do more instead of teaching the customers what to do You still don’t know how bad you are!!!!! You can’t see a smile on my face because you never respected me! You haven’t have a good, smiled face since I entered, just black and impatient. I have to wait so long for any need I have. Or even do it myself. You still don’t understand you how poor your service is? You don't know how to correct yourself, and you're still here begging me to respect you? Are you a beggar? Politeness is for people who have manners. Not for you. Try to do more and correct you. Instead of confronting me here. I am the customer not you. Restaurants are a service industry. Do you need some literature to prove it?

Came here for lunch with my 1 year old daughter and friend. We were greeted by a sweet woman, who directed us to a table and catered to my daughters needs e.g. highchair. Might not be everyone’s preference, but we were told to write down our order ourselves, which I actually liked because of convenience. The menu also had a range of dishes from kimchi jjigae to Korean corn dogs which I was impressed about. After looking through, we ended up ordering osam bulgogi with rice, fried chicken, and haemuljeon which all came out hot and tasty. I truly recommend this restaurant!

As a Malaysian travelling here for business trip, I’ve had bad experiences of eating asian dishes in European Country, this korean restaurant definitely have delicious dishes and not expensive as well. I had Soondubbu Jigae and Fried King Prawn, both very nice and are to my taste👍🏻

Had a really delicious meal here tonight. Everything we ate was delicious. The Bibimbap was so tasty sizzling hot and the Ddukboki was yummy! The fried chicken was so good and fresh, smothered in yummy yangyum sauce. I would say it is a little expensive though, £21 for 6 pieces of chicken but atleast it was tasty! Service was great, the lady was very lovely and welcoming. I’ll definitely be back!

I come from South Korea. This Korean restaurant is just wow, very good chef with amazing customer service. If I could I really wish to visit everyday with my family. Take away for Ban-Ban chicken just amazing ~ I am also Korean, but both the quantity and quality were good. The chef and the owner who have been working with me for a long time are both healthy, and the son who works with me is also safe.

The lady at the front of house was so wonderful! She was so kind to our little one and went above and beyond for us. The food was spectacular! We had the fried chicken, noodles and the BBQ pork. It was insanely good. You get a lot for your money and it is really fantastic quality. We will be back! Thanks so much for having us.

Lovely restaurant, really enjoyed cooking my own food. The other people with me had a bowl meal. In true Korean style the bowls were very spicy, I would not like to know how spicy the meals with a chilli next to them were. My marinated beef was not spicy whatsoever, it was moist and soft. Just don't overcook it.

Food tastes so-so. It feels like everything is made from store-cupboard sauces. It's not that delicious, to be honest. Tasting your supplies would be a good idea to improve the taste.

Fantastic place. The atmosphere is really calm. The food is absolutely delicious. I like how convenient the ordering process is and how helpful the staff is. They are so friendly and make you feel very comfortable. Each time I have gone, i have had a great experience. I would definitely recommend this place for some good food, atmosphere and comfort. Will be going back again and again!

We were in a minority here, the place was full of Asian guests, always a good sign of authentic food. Don't be put off by the non description exterior, the food is excellent and the staff friendly and delightful. The food isn't cheap, and it shouldn't be, it is good, tasty and worth it.

We tried the beef and pork soup. Both amazing. The mixed starters with raddish, kimchi and bean sprouts were great too

Myself and my friend have always loved making Korean food ourselves but have never been to Korean restaurant. The reviews seemed amazing, and the experience certainly lived up to our expectations! We ordered beef dumplings, Tteokbokki, army stew and pork belly BBQ with rice lettuce and kimchi. It all tasted amazing and you can tell it’s made with love! The staff were so lovely and attentive. We will 100% return! Ps- if you’ve never tried Tteokbokki or had it elsewhere, please try it here!

Ordered a shared BBQ set, fried chicken and prawn dumpling. They were all delicious especially the fried chicken which we had 2 portions of, it was juicy and the taste was just right ! The ox tongue was bit chewy though. The staff were very friendly and helpful, he helped us cooked the BBQ and cut into bite size pieces. I wish he could introduce himself and offer to help with the BBQ cooking. The price is just below London's prices for Korean type of food.

너무 맛있습니다! We stopped in for lunch today, and it was great. We've been looking for a Korean restaurant for ages, and I'm so glad we found this one, I want to go back and try everything on the menu! Food was delicious, especially the cheese tteokbokki, and the portions were very generous. I had the army stew, which I've been wanting to try for ages, and it was so good! The service was fast and the lady who served us was very friendly. I am definitely planning to go back again!

The lady who served me was very polite, the place looked nice. However, I the food was very overpriced. This is a shame because it looked like a very nice place and I get the fact that it's a "top" Korean chef etc. but the fried chicken I ordered was fairly bland, and then the other portion was the same bland chicken just smothered in a sweet chilli sauce and sprinkled with almond flakes. There was no stand-out to this especially for the price. If you would want to charge your customers nearly £20 for a portion of 6 chicken wings, then at least make this a meal set or make it so stand out that the price is justified. I don't think I'll be returning and quite frankly I would want a refund or some compensation due to how poor the food was for the price.

No frills restaurant for some korean food very close to Central Station. Very good and affordable, filling and delicious. Lovely service with attentive staff. Did not get BBQ option this time but will definitely try next time.

Visited twice on business trip. The bibimbap was delicious because it was made in a stone pot. Seaweed soup is also good. I packed chicken and sweet and sour chicken, but I liked the sweet and sour chicken better.

Great restaurant with great service - staff were welcoming and friendly, with good advice on what to order (for a newbie to Korean food!) and the food was delicious, and fast. We had vegetarian dishes only (bibimbap and ramen) which were excellent. Highly recommended, we'll definitely be coming back again

While the overall quality of the food was okay, we ordered chicken wings, which were listed on your menu. However, upon receiving our order, we discovered that we were served something entirely different, was thought that the restaurant make chicken wings in the different way so we tried and realized is nothing alike chicken wings so we asked the staff can we order some chicken wings then we got told that they were sold out. Not only were we given the wrong dish, but there was no prior indication or explanation regarding the unavailability of chicken wings. It was disheartening to have our expectations dashed without any forewarning. Furthermore, the substitute dish that was provided in place of the chicken wings was far from satisfactory. The taste and quality were subpar, which further compounded our disappointment. We firmly believe that had we been informed about the unavailability of chicken wings, we would have made an alternative choice. Communication and transparency are crucial in maintaining customer satisfaction, and we felt let down in this regard.

Jumped in here on the off-chance before heading off to the cruise terminal. Gorgeous fresh food, really friendly service, and they were happy to accommodate our luggage!! Highly recommend. Table next to us were having the BBQ which I would have loved had we had more time, it looked fantastic.

Very good food and makes you feel so warm and homely! Pair it with a couple of Korean beers or Soju with Friends and you couldn't wish for more. The service is excellent and they come over often to help with the BBQ and check all's well. I'd go weekly just for the Bibimbap if I could. Enjoy!

As I enter K-Bap i am met but a lovely and polite young man who escorts me to my table. Theres a nice and diverse menu. I have ordered kimchee, a squid meal and a grape soju. The customer service has been fantastic so far and the food smells fantastic on the other tables. Here comes my kimchee and soju and it has been such a short wait. The kimchee is delicious, the spice dances around my mouth spreading an ecstatic range of flavours across my mouth, and the grape soju is a nice flavour as well. Would definitely recommend the combo. My main meal has arrived now. They have warned me rhat it is spicy but I am prepared. The vegetables and the squid is a good to perfection and the sauce has a spicy but sweet flavour. The spice is a nice spice where it compliments the food and really brings a party to my mouth. The rice is fluffier than a cloud and its a fantastic vessel to soak up the spice from the squid. The lady that I am being served by now is a beautiful soul. Kindness radiates from her eyes and she has a motherly aura to her. She has offered me to try Ssamjang for the first time and is refusing to let me pay for it. I had a lovely conversion with the woman and she truly is a beautiful human, a woman who gives off a sense of home and kindness aswell as hope. She is the type of person who restores your faith in humanity. The type of person that we need more of in the world. Food speed = 10/10 absolutely nothing to complain about. The food was fast and was the right temp Food Quality = 10/10 I had a fantastic meal and the portion size was good. I can eat for england but that was plenty for me. Venue = 7.5/10 the venue is a quaint restaurant off a main road, theres nothing wrong with it as it is lovely inside and very authentic and homely. Im just more of a fan of wow factor so apologies. Customer service = 10000/10 The customer service I had the pleasure of experiencing here was incredible. Some of the best ive ever had. Overall 10/10 I had a wonderful experience here and I would recommend anyone that is visiting southampton to give this restaurant a good.

Took my mum here for her birthday as she loves Korean food, first time here.. the food was absolutely delicious, the staff polite and attentive and we never felt rushed at any point… everything we are was so good, it can be on the pricy side but it was worth it…our waitress even indulged my mums self taught Korean and played us some BTS 😂 overall a lovely experience and we can’t wait to go back!

The full menu and side menu were each priced in the low 20s, and I was satisfied because they were delicious! I will definitely visit again☺️

5 stars to the KFC, which tastes reallyyyyy good. The Banban. Young stuff has a very good English proficiency, which is quite joyful. The owner could be Korean, sharing his photo on the wall, seemed to be kind. Generally, quite good

Excellent. The staff apologised as we arrived that service would be slow as they had a trainee but we had better and quicker service than most restaurants in Southampton! All the dishes we ordered were very good, particularly the BBQ ribs, pancake starter and fried chicken. We will be coming back many times to try everything else

Love this place and have been a few times now. The food is always hot and fresh and the service is wonderful. Highly recommend the bibimbap dolsot and the pancake to start.

Never had Korean BBQ before but honestly this is a game changer, the food was amazing the staff where so polite and helpful. I didn’t have a clue what I was ordering, so we asked for a helping hand and they would even go out of there way to help cook the food for us. I can strongly suggest the ox tongue (unreal). Just an amazing time.

Lovely restaurant. The staff were very friendly. My mum has food allergy and the staff were very kind to try to help her. I don't have a food allergy but ive always wanted to try korean food and I really enjoyed it. Would love to visit again. I highly recommend. But if you do have a food allergy then it will be best to ask staff before ordering. I would give more stars if I could. Happy chuseok 🐇🌙

My first time having Korean food was in New Malden (basically Korea town in London), and Kbap was just as good, if not better. I took my friends who had never had Korean bbq and we all loved it. We ordered way too much but finished all of it, it was that delicious. On top of this, the staff who worked there were very smiley and accommodating which added even more to the experience. Thank you Kbap and you are definitely our favourite place to eat in Southampton now. Everyone should give this place a try!

Never had Korean BBQ before, but this was amazing! The BBQ beef bulgogi was really tasty and we got lettuce and rice with the veg to go with. It really was a great experience for any foodie! We shared dumplings, the hot chicken bites and a noodle dish. All were really tasty and filling! Definitely recommend if you’re on the lookout for Korean. They have a lot of authentic dishes to choose from and the staff are very friendly, if you need help choosing they have some recommendations!

Not a pleasant visit this time (3rd times) no service provided as needed to wait more than 15 mins to add an order but in the end have to walked to the counter to get the ONLY waitress cum lady boss (I guess) attention but been told off rudely by her 3 times “can’t you wait “? I do understand not all customers always right but at least you can tell me politely ‘I’ll get back shortly pls take a seat first ‘ but not ‘can’t you wait with your temper showing in your face’ , I do understand you’re busy alone working with no other service staffs but that’s not my problem and I do pay for the service charge that they charged ! I seen it for the third time where there’s only 1 staff working maybe that’s the way to save cost but if is so you still need to provide a decent basic services didn’t expect much when you’re busy ! To add on wasn’t given any menu when we seated (have to request after 10 mins) but the third group behind us 2 paxs seated by the window was given immediately when seated and only realised is because they are KOREAN and we are not. The food was OK! But not the service.

We’ve been coming to this place for more than a year already and it never disappoints. The Korean Fried chicken is spectacular specially the spicy one; the chef needs more than a day just to prep this fabulous spicy sauce for the fried chicken, no wonder why it is so good

Came here due to the top rated reviews, but was disappointed in the end. Arrived after 6 pm, only 1 waitress on duty, lead us sat down and left a self-tick ordering sheet with menu, no greetings, not feeling welcomed. Ordered 4 dishes, rice, noodle, pancake and soup, 3 of them were flavoursome, noodles only tasted blackbean sauce and all of them are expensive considering the location, service, food quality and dining conditions. Compared to other Korean restaurants i've been in SOHO and Portsmouth, this one is over priced and won't come back again.

Went there for a lunch and got a Bibimbap. The food was delicious and you could make it spicy as you want with Gochujang-based condiment. The service was vey nice. Unfortunately there were no lunch deal and £15 per person is a bit high. However due to little number of Korean restaurants its understandable. Additionally the restaurant décor was more of a fast food, thus not an ideal place for a date.

Expensive go to Manna Korean instead. More updated music would be appreciated. Understaffed staff ignore you when it's busy.

Always get takeaway from here as do not live close to K BAP. The Yamyum Korean Fried Chicken is always a staple and never fails to impress. It is a very large sharing portion and is great as a main in its own to feast on or to accompany different dishes. The staff are always very welcoming and friendly. I've not eaten in but can vouch for the professional services received multiple occasions on pick up. Would highly recommend this to get your Korean fix of food anytime!

Needed a quick takeaway meal.so we stopped at this place. But got surprised by 5 star service with an aloe vera drink on the house while I was waiting for my order. Very nice and kind staff. The food is absolutely lovely (my favorite pick is the kimchi, very hearty) and very well packed. Definitely would go back again when dine-in is allowed.

Enjoyed the fried chicken and the stew there. Very tasty and there is a good amount of chicken. The service is nice, definitely will come again. Edited: I have ordered the Jjamppong through uber eats so many times, as I am really a big fan of it. But I ordered it again recently and really disappointed to find out that they changed the types of noodle in the soup. It is just less chewy and lack of texture compared with the old noodle. Hope you can change it back!!!!

The best Korean food in Southampton (and possibly beyond), the lady boss is really friendly and very accommodating, and all their food are freshly made and well packaged to takeaway. Their tteokbokki, seafood pancake, and soups are amaznig, and the korean hot dog is good even when it's gone cold. Can't wait to be able to eat in again!

K.bap’s boss lady is so nice. Every time she comes, she says it’s too cold and gives her a hot drink. The rice is also delicious. I love it.
