Mayflower Chinese Takeaway in Wirral

I know, I know, it's a chippy. But the chips were soaked in grease and not at all crispy. Felt like the chips had been frying for 60 seconds before being put into the tray. I might try them again in future but there's too much competition around to make a mess of such an easy dish.

We have been ordering a Christmas Eve Banquet every year, about 10 yrs now, beautiful food 😋 can't wait to order this yrs 👌

Always had nice meals from here, Old school chips, chicken curry nice or special fried rice. I also like the spring rolls with sauce.

Horrendous. Ordered shredded beef, was given shredded no beef. Just hard batter. Straight in the bin. Meal i ordered prior was a beef dish and was kung po , came with no vegetables when it should of. Last 3 meals have been attrocious. Local or not i wont be going again. Getting worse by the visit.

I ordered a king prawn curry with fried rice. I was really looking forward to it as I love Chinese curry. I got 10 king prawns in the sauce with some onions & mushrooms. I didn't think 10 was bad. But the king prawns weren't great. There was no flavour to them whatsoever. I may have been eating anything. The curry sauce was also quite thin for a curry sauce. I just feel it wasn't worth the money - £7.80. On the plus side the fried rice was delicious. Based on this visit I won't be ordering from this Chinese again. What a mistake ☹️

I like the tofu veggie meal, it used to be labelled as low fat and it certainly feels as though it isn't greasy. The chips are good, never had the fish. I've had many Chinese dishes from here over 20 years and they are all good, but not fancy or top class. It's a good little Chinese takeaway and I don't think it deserves to be insulted because of its fish and chips!

Good quality meals. Fast service and plenty of choice on menu. Their special curry, one of the best I have tasted

We only go to this chippy , we found it to be the nicest one around , we have never had a bad meal in all the years we have been going there , my favourite is chicken balls , special fried rice or fish and chips , chips are the best and hottest , fish are cooked to order ,

Tried here after seeing some encouraging reviews elsewhere. Chips were just ok. The fish wasn't fresh and was of poor quality. It was presented in bland, half cooked batter. It wasn't particularly cheap either.

DO NOT EAT HERE! we ordered salt and pepper chicken which was mostly soggy veg and soggy greecy chicken and a chicken burger which was disgusting! SAVE YOUR MONEY 1/5!!!

Everything I have ordered from here has been extremely good, Love their curry dishes and their chow mein dishes.

Lovely Chinese food and the takeaway is like a restaurant meal. Good price and always hot when you get home. Staff pleasant and home delivery too

Our usual Chinese takeaway was closed for some reason so we decided to try elsewhere and gave Mayflower a go. What a dreadful mistake. To start, we ordered the special appetiser. The ribs in the appetiser were inedible, just pure fat! The rest of it (spring rolls, chicken wings and won ton were ok, very greasy!) The worst thing was the main. We ordered crispy beef in chilli and garlic sauce. To say it was tasteless would be an understatement. The sauce resembled gloopy oil with chilli flakes it. There was NO flavour whatsoever. I have never ever had anything like it. Needless to say this wasn't eaten. What made it worse is that it was about £3.50 more than we usually pay for the same meals! We will never go back here.

Great, hot fresh takeaway. The service might not always be with a smile (watch out for dragon lady who seems to rule everything with an iron rod!) but the food has always been good.

Always freshly cooked and you can tell by the chips always tasting excellent. Never had a poor meal from this takeaway, the crispy chicken is especially tasty..

Local chippy and really really good fish and chips! Freshly made right in front of you and a VERY good sized portion for the price! Wouldn't really go to another chippy at all!

Tenía varias excelentes comidas chinas de aquí, todo generosas porciones y muy sabroso. La semana pasada decidimos por pescado y patatas fritas como un cambio, aunque tengo que decir que el pescado estaba muy bien cocinado, masa agradable y la luz y el "pequeño" porción de patatas fritas era enorme; era absolutamente precioso! Servicio rápido a un precio razonable y con una sonrisa- no podría desear nada más.

We picked up a takeaway from here on Christmas Eve. The food was absolutely wonderful and oh so tasty. The spare ribs in honey were amazing and I would definitely go back here for a take away. yum

Sólo un "fish and chips" completamente decente. Yo uso frecuentemente porque es consistentemente bueno. Las comidas son muy buenas, con abundantes raciones y patatas fritas son también muy bien.

Had a few meals from here in pSt few months . Service was very fast and large portions lovely food no complaints about any of the meals .

Used this chippy for sometime, recent visit was a shambles, went early to avoid the and rush ordered meals was told 10 mins, 40 mins later still waiting,people came in after me ordered meals and left before me! And when finally got order it was wrong, won't be using them again

I 100% agree with the below. If you can't crack a grin over a counter when giving a paying customer a portion of chips then you don't deserve to be working here! CHEFS this Doris is letting the side down!

Its such a shame with this Chinese chippy as I have been coming her for many years the food is good but the customer service is appalling. The main woman that serves you with the redish hair and glasses is so rude I dont know how they keep there business going. I am shocked at how her attitude never changes. This has happened every time I have visited and I will not go there anymore. An example of her disgusting behavior is snatching your money without a thankyou she does not even look at you mumbles and refuses to make eye contact. You simply can not continue to act this waywhen people are coming. I dont know what her problem is which is a shame as the food is good value for money but there whole attitude towards people stinks! You have been warned!
