Ordered chicken in black bean sauce chow mein Drive from Dinas Powys to pick it up get ho.e to dry chicken and noodles rang to complain and told we don't do Blackburn chow mein so not sure why they take orders for it And it was dry and nasty any way I would avoid if possible

I ordered on wendsday and quite honestly had the most shocking service not only did they tell me they were closed on Wednesday when they were open they hung up on me when I’ve now reported food poisoning to say I’ve literally felt like Im dying is a understatement that’s fine I’ll take it further guys 👏

Only ordered chicken balls and chips but was very disappointed. The chips were certainly refried and the 'chicken' didn't taste or have the consistency of chicken. I phoned to complain and to be fair they agreed to replace it. Unfortunately, it was still unsatisfactory and so was uneaten. We all have our own expectations and sorry to say, this was way below mine.

We ordered delivery last evening and the whole experience prompted us to review. The lady on the phone was so lovely and understanding. She didn’t at all seem like the job was a chore. Bubbly, bright and easy to talk with. The delivery arrived in about 25mins, the quote was “within the hour” so we were pleased. As for food, quality, quantity, everything absolutely great. My new go to Chinese food place in Barry.

First time trying here tonight and we were not disappointed! From ordering over the phone where the girl was amazing and professional to the delivery driver to the food. Food came fast and earlier than expected it was piping hot and absolutely delicious. Will definitely be ordering again.

Having read reviews and word of mouth recommendations we thought we'd give mayflower a try as our usual was closed. Staff friendly and polite. Food offensively salty. Couldn't eat it all as was just too salty. Had singapore noodles, ribs, crispy chilli beef, rice and curry sauce. Hoping it was a one off and will give another try. Ribs were very nice though

Foods always good, but the Delivery was shocking, rather than knocking my door the person called me as they said the street was busy.. it wasn't, and then they left my food on the door step for someone to just take as they walk by especially if I was slow to the door.

I always get my food delivered, the delivery is fast, the food is always hot, food is cooked well and tastes amazing. Staff are friendly when phoning, delivery drivers are always happy and nice to talk to. I use this as my regular Chinese, highly recommended

Proper cheeky little Chinese, chicken balls were lush but I didn’t like the crispy beef. also didn’t help when Jude Bellingham ran into the store with a mullet and proceeded to rail my 12 year old niece into the poor quality table and chairs bought by the owner. Won’t be buying again if that weird guy called “Hstikkytokky” or whatever asks my 7 year old brother to “Hold his wood” and call him a sort

I'm not sure why this place has such great reviews. The food was average to below, extremely salty this evening and nobody could finish their plate. I ordered the Thai Green Curry and was confused and disappointed, mainly because this was not close to tasting or looking as it should, the joy of this dish is that it has a heat to it with a background of aromatic flavours such as lemon grass / corriander with the sweetness of coconut milk unfortunately I was met spice, no flavor and a texture of glue. I'm assuming a thickener was added when this dish calls for a watery texture. Unfortunately a waste of my money and I now I've to cook dinner (which I was avoiding) as nobody wants to eat it. In the bin it goes! I've given 2 stars for speedy cooking and I now have spare containers for the left over from the dinner I'll be cooking tonight.

Loved the food apart from the chips were too salty

Ringing up was like speaking to the cast from little Britain! Chavtastic with terrible customer service skills trying to order being told 'wait' and then hearing swearing from them.. lost me as a customer! i went to Wongs and it was brilliant!

Have always used Mayflower and they've always been amazing, but have to say, we had a takeaway from them last night which was the best chinese we've ever had! Was Superb! Highly recommend the chicken in sea spicy garlic sauce, and kung po chicken. Wow!

PLEASE READ FULL REVIEW I have to say that this was the best chinese i have ever had. The duck was so tender, curry sauce gorgeous and the poppadoms so light and not a bit of fat on them. first time diner and yes we will be back :) 6 months after above review: Has mayflower been taken over or new staff? Only cos food wasn’t very nice this time…. My curry was soooo runny, massive chunks of mushrooms, looked like the person who made it could only be bothered to cut them in half. May as well not cut the atall if I am honest. The chicken was like plastic/ rubber chicken…. Was awful. Poppadoms where lovely and nice chips for a Chinese but I only have a couple of chips as they make me I’ll. disappointed as last time the mayflower kindly made me duck in peking sauce and when I asked about another meat in peking sauce that wasn’t coated like the ones that was on the menu it seemed so much of a bother to them so needed up having the house special curry that wasn’t nice and I left 3/4 of it. Won’t be having Chinese for a long while now as even the day after my stomach is suffering. Sorry previous I gave 5 stars and now it’s a 2 star.

We have been using the Mayflower for many years now. Whether pick up or delivery the food is alway very hot even in the cold months of winter We have never had a meal where we have not enjoyed it. The flavours and quality have always been spot on. I am sure I will still be getting our wonderful food from her for many years.

I can honestly say Mayflower has the best chinese food ive tasted. Nothing beats the flavour. The staff are so polite and always happy to help with any changes you need. Delivery is always spot on. And the owners go above and beyond for all customers Will be a regular customer for life A* rating

Absolutely disgusted, Would give 0 stars if I could. I have been ordering from this takeaway for years and have had minimal problems. Today is the last time I will ever be ordering from here, they got our order wrong so we rang them and attempted to politely explain the problem (they gave the wrong sauces with our food) and we were told that we ordered wrong, not sure how that's possible when you have sweet and sour chicken hong kong style and curry sauce. Anyway after explaining ourselves and being repeatedly told that we misplaced our order we agreed to go up ourselves and get it replaced, the phone call ended and we were about to leave. We then got a phonecall from the Chinese owner and my partner got literally screamed at over the phone and was told that 'it was what we asked for and they would not re-do our order and we would get a sweet and sour sauce next time' (completely useless to me next time) following this proceeded to shout in Chinese and hung up. As a side note to this their Chop Suey tastes like canned chicken and they severely underpay their drivers (and likely staff) £5ph (illegal and I have evidence to prove this) and they are some of the nicest delivery drivers around, my advice to them would be to work somewhere else as they get treated just as bad. Customer service is non-existent. My advice, find somewhere else to eat.

I would like to thank the manager of mayflower for contacting me about my complaint, I can say she did all she could to rectify the issue and apologised for what had happened, I will be going back to mayflower as I've always had a brilliant service from them the staff and food has always been second to none I cant fault them first class and highly recommended

Ordered from here several times and had always been OK but had a takeaway from here last night and after eating it we have all been quite ill including my young daughter. Won't be ordering from here again as it was obviously caused by the food.

The food is really nice. The boss smokes in the kitchen though and the staff are so-so. It’s one of the better places to eat Chinese food in Barry.

First time we have tried this chinese as our normal one was closed. Lovely staff on the phone, It arrived and was piping hot which is great, it looked and smelt amazing but unfortunately the curry sauce was so spicy and so peppery we couldnt eat our food, my partner eats very spicy hot food normally and even he couldnt eat it. Thankfully we had chicken balls and spring rolls that hadnt touched the curry sauce so we could eat those but that worked out as a very expensive cost for just those and ofcourse we were still hungry. Such a shame :(

Absolute disgusting service and extremely rude staff. During the heavy snow I phoned to see if they were still delivering, I was told yes she checked my area and said the driver will deliver if I met him on the main road.....I agreed. so I explsined I will call back with my order in 5 minutes with my order when I called back was rudly told they have changed their mind now and they won't be delivering my order. Absolute disgraceful customer service and seeing as they was the only Chinese takeaway delivering and I use them quite often really disheartened me . I will not be using this Chinese again and the staff need to learn some people skills. Highly let down 😲 they were delivering to other people in my area and wide spread across Barry angry does not even come close ....
