Following on from the Restaurant's response: It seems to me something has changed, if my recollection of my first visit is correct. Of course, it is not at all uncommon for the quality of supplies to decline in the pursuit of economies. I've eaten satay and curry all over South East Asia, so have some yardstick against which to assess Oriental food. I take no pleasure in being critical of small businesses, but also take no pleasure in mediocrity. Good luck for the new year. It's been year or so since we last visited, and remember having had a nice meal in this restaurant. Unfortunately this visit was very disappointing. The food was very average, the prices not so. My wife's shredded beef dish was the worst she'd ever had. The chicken satay was bland, spring rolls ok, and my Thai curry had poor quality meat and again a rather bland taste. Pleasant waiting staff and a clean, if rather characterless environment merited a couple of stars overall. But if you are familiar with good Oriental cuisine, don't expect to find it here...not for the moment at least.

When you have been ordering very frequently for nearly 5 years, very similar order each time, but get delivered tonight not all your order and some of the order wrong despite me asking the order to be repeated back, to then drive down to try and sort so as a whole family can sit down together to warm food, the response was awful. No understanding. Last time we order - we have had many orders slightly wrong from here but enjoyed the food but this is the last time. The food isnt cheap but we dont mind paying if its right but again the service has been appalling. Need a new chinese. Cost us £70 and they made us bring back the wrong dishes to prove it!! Why has it taken us so long - because we want to support local and when the food is right it is good but the service has tipped us now. After working a long week and wanting to treat the family and as a mum not cook for one day this ended sadly and i wish i had just cooked again! ***In response it was also missing 2 dishes - seaweed and a prawn dish was wrong. Both that and the duck were clarified twice on the phone and repeated back by caller We came to collect as we wanted to try and then eat our whole meal warm and at the same time Apologies if i got 5 yrs wrong - we moved here nearly 5 yrs ago so i assumed it had been the whole time - in that case we have tried to support you from your start

An Asian restaurant offering a mix of Thai and Chinese dishes. Food quality was really good and portion sizes quite reasonable. Prices are in the mid-range. Service was very friendly.

Long wait and poor value for money. Long wait for food and when it did arrive the portions were small for the price! Wait for starters and mains combined equalled 2 hours. I wouldn't of minded but the taste and quality was not much greater than what you could get for half the price in a typical Chinese takeaway. The Cashew Chicken turned out to be chicken in a sauce with veg and peanuts...not a single cashew in sight. No mention of ingredient shortage upon ordering etc. To add insult to injury regarding the wait, a party of 12 arrived shortly after we finished starters and they received their food within half an hour of ordering!

5 STAR and Well Worth the Trip People are often fast to criticise but so slow to congratulate. After this evenings visit I would have no doubt highly recommending the Mayflower Devizes for anyone wanting a very pleasant evening out, in a truly relaxing atmosphere, able to enjoy their meal with the feeling of being rushed along by staff. Receiving a most pleasant greeting upon arrival, after being seated our drinks order were immediately taken and delivered without delay or fuss. The restaurant was reasonably busy for a Tuesday, which to us was a good sign as it is clearly a popular eatery. We were given ample time to pursue and discuss the menu, with appetisers brought to keep us going whilst our food was being freshly cooked. The starters all arrived promptly and we found them excellent both in quality and presentation. The waitress, most pleasant, even remembered to ask if we needed more drinks. Clearly an eye for detail that was much appreciated. There was no rush between courses, and we were given ample time to enjoy & digest our food with light conversation, before the empty plates were cleared. Always smiling our main courses, again well presented and of high quality, were delivered by the same waitress whose pleasant manor and welcoming approach certainly made us feel at home. Nigel was particularly attentive, making sure everything was to our satisfaction, and again giving us the opportunity to top up drinks on this rather warm evening. Given the high quality of the food, the level of service and the amount of drinks that were had ordered, we were surprised by the relatively low cost of the entire evening. A FIVE STAR experience if every there was one and well worth a visit. I know we will be returning soon even though it is almost a 50 mile round trip.

Ordered the Singapore chow mein as a takeaway, it was ready quickly and was delicious

Very expensive!! Small portions and never before have we paid £4 for a small bowl of rice or noodles £8.95. Food as in photo plus 4 drinks 83£. It tasted but the price is not ok. We visit Devizes as tourists and do NOT recommend it!

My daughter and I have talked for a long time about giving the mayflower a go- and finally we did. The food is ok. The customer service also. But really nothing special and actually a little aloof. The portions again adequate. The ambience in the restaurant is non existent. No nice music. Door wide open as clearly kitchen staff getting hot- but I ended up freezing and came down with a nasty cold in the days afterwards. No silly litlle niceties that you get from other local restaurants- after dinner mints for example- hell I even get them at the cheap buffet in swindon! However the price tag for the food and eperience is not exactly average. Too expensive for mediocre food and pretty depressing dining experience. Have tried it, but will now stick to my takeaways with free prawn crackers and cheerful service in furture.

Nice food , but shouldn’t accept orders for delivery on a busy weekend evening unless you want to wait for hours . Sending out an email saying you’re busy and a time giving 2 hours later than what you expect is all well and good but doesn’t give the option of cancelling your order if you want to change your mind as no one picks up the phone either , stating no staff available .

We stayed in the area over the last weekend and decided on a takeaway from the Mayflower. Probably the best we have ever had in terms of quality, taste and service. The food was stunning and we couldn't recommend it enough. The only downside is the parking unfortunately but you can't have everything..

Ate here yesterday evening and the staff could not have been more helpful to look after me and my allergy. The food was delicious and I would eat here again.

We’ve been to The Mayflower a few times and each time have had a very good experience. The food is always very good value for money and delicious. The staff greet you with a smile and are very efficient.

We were welcomed by the owner who seated us and took our order for drinks and starters giving us time to relax and choose our mains. Probably the best Thai we had eaten, lovely clean restaurant, friendly staff and gorgeous food.

Had a fantastic banquet meal for 8 this evening to celebrate my Dad's 90th birthday. We couldn't have chosen any where better.

Contemporary Chinese decor with plenty of coloured lights. The staff are efficient, courteous and fuss free. The menu offers a broad selection. Our meals did not take long to arrive and were delicious. The Katsu Chicken Curry is highly recommended. Our evening was interrupted four times by a misbehaving fire alarm but I trust this was a 'one off'.

After moving to this part of Wiltshire we have searched for a Chinese/ Thai takeaway that serves really good food. At the end of the day eating out or takeaway is a treat and so if your going to treat yourself it should be really good. Mayflower is exceptional. The people I speak to in there are always accomodating and friendly, they are also honest and hardworking. The food is really really good, the kitchen staff are a credit you really must try their Thai food it's great, my personal favourite is the Thai chilli basil.. I've seen comments about the price changes in the menu. There is big signs everywhere explaining prices have changed. In the last 2years of pretty well reported mega inflation and supply challenges how is this a surprise to anyone? Also I'd rather they didn't throw away a load of printed menus and just explained that the prices had changed, as this is far less wasteful and environmentally considerate approach. Plus in the modern digital age why not just look at the online menu? Both me and my partner, and my kids have eaten here during the day and it is now our regular go to place for takeaway. I spent time working in South Malaysia, and have eaten at oriental restaurants all over the world, and have family friends who own quite prestigious Chinese restaurants in Soho, Cheltenham, and Cirencester and I would be more than happy to say that the food is fresh authentic and excellent at this restaurant...and both me and my Mrs have tried every other takeaway in Devizes and Melksham, and this is our regular go to for Thai and Chinese food. Finally the staff I speak to and the owners I have spoken to at this place are amazingly friendly and helpful. A genuinely great dining experience in Devizes whether takeaway or eating in.

Great overall experience. We booked as it’s always busy and got a great welcome. Lovely food, great veggie and gluten free options with handling of GF done properly. Mixed platter starter was excellent. We will be back for family meal next month.

Dropped in without a reservation and we were in a rush as we were off to see a theatre production. However, the food was very nice and the staff were friendly. We would definitely go back.

We visited this lovely restaurant to celebrate a birthday. It had a nice calm atmosphere and friendly staff. The menu was huge making it hard to choose from as I could have eaten everything on it. The food arrived in good time and was of a fresh, flavoursome, high quality. The presentation was also first class. This is high quality Asian cuisine and not to be dismissed at Chinese style takeaway. We will return as we have always enjoyed the food. Highlights for us were the smoked chicken and the mayflower mixed meat stir fry special. Also the wok chips were delicious and full of flavour.

Lovely evening. Food was fantastic! Best Thai food I've ever had. Great service. Very accommodating to food allergies/preferences...all food cooked fresh. All staff extremely helpful/friendly and all wore face masks. Def reccomend and will be returning to eat in or order take out. Book ahead to avoid disappointment as very popular ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Collected my daughter from respite in Devizes and decided to stop for some food. Absolutely first class meal, staff were brilliant. Will definitely return My daughter loved her meal and her desert. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

I visited for a takeaway. The food I ordered was good and they had it ready as promised. I was surprised when paying that the amount was significantly more than on the menu. I just thought I had looked at an old menu when ordering. On checking the website I found it also has the old prices. I'm well aware that they probably had no choice to put their prices up, that isn't my moan. It's only fair that customers know how much they are charging. Once you have the bag in your hand you feel obliged to pay what they are asking. It was almost a tenner more than what was advertised on their menu and website!

Great food and yes, it took some time and wasn't cheap but then I wasn't looking for cheap 'fast' food. Waitress was very welcoming and good at her job too. What more can I ask?

Had a great take away last night. They were very helpful in their gluten free options and we had Thai from the choice available. It was the best food I have had of this type for ages. A huge thank you from the three of us that had this delicious dinner.

We didn't realise when we booked it that this restaurant served Thai food as well as Chinese - what a treat! Our Chinese sharing platter starter was amazing, every element cooked to perfection, each dipping sauce delicious, and the Pad Thai with Chicken in Peanut Sauce that followed was every bit as scrumptious. A pot of Jasmine tea was the perfect way to finish off a truly excellent meal. Highly recommended.

At 5,40pm. on Saturday evening, on a whim, my wife and I turned up at this restaurant in the hope of a meal. We had eaten there before on a few lunch occasions, when we are usually the ONLY customers, and have had several takeaways......

Dined in beautiful resteraunt with an oriental touch. We ordered the crispy seaweed, Ribs pork and mushrooms, sweet and sour chicken The food was amazing but the seaweed was very salty and was unable to eat it. Very helpful and friendly Staff.

Went for dinner at the Mayflower, friendly welcoming staff and the food was fresh and delicious. Our only criticism would be the wait for the food. We didn't complain or question as we weren't in a rush however would have been a nice gesture for them to give complimentary prawn crackers.....as most Asian style restaurants do this anyway when you arrive and chinese takeaways always include if you spend a certain amount! Would recommend 🍜

Come to cotswold for a long weekend break from Liverpool and looked for a decent Chinese/Thai restaurant for a dine in meal. After googling the local area and being recommended by the hotel staff we came across mayflower in Devizes. I’ve nothing but praise for this little village restaurant. The food and service was second to none. So tasty and portion size excellent we will come again in August during our next weekend away to the cotswolds. The Staff were very polite and the restaurant clean. Thanks for a wonderful evening.

Just had a lovely lunch at the Mayflower (Thai) Can really recommend eating outside, it felt very holiday-like The food was brilliant - especially for a vegetarian. The lunch menu is a mix of tapas plates and larger dishes with plenty of options. It's not too fatty so doesn't leave you feeling dodge like some Chinese places! The staff were also very accomodating when I made a mistake with my order. Enjoy

The food is excellent but delivery is always very slow unfortunately. EDIT in response to owner. If you brand yourself as a takeaway then it is perfectly acceptable to criticise slow delivery times. However I am not surprised at your response, as every time I have come to your restaurant you have been rude and unfriendly. Whoever is making your food is the only thing keeping you in business, because it certainly isn't your customer service skills. Sorry you are unable to take criticism, but it is a part of life, and you should be open minded to what customers have to say so that you can improve your service. You don't need to worry about me ordering again, I decided when I wrote this review that I would never spend money on a takeaway who think a two hour delivery time is OK for a takeaway. However, perhaps you should stop alienating your potential customers with your poor attitude, as the restaurant industry will have a rough time recovering from these tough times and will need all the customers they can get.

We had our ist take away tonight from the mayflower and it was one of the best takeaways we’ve had, the food was very tasty, the portions were very good ,there was plenty of food for the 2 of us.The menu includes a Thai selection and all the food is reasonably priced.We shall be using the Mayflower as our regular Chinese restaurant from now on, loved it.
