Delicious food, exemplary service highly recommended.

Very busy when we first arrived-there was a queue at the door-some people were coming through the door and pushing in, the staff didn’t seem to pick up on this until it was pointed out and then people knew to join the back of the queue. Table booked for 2.15pm, got there early and was seated quickly. Food and drinks are always good here, but what lacked this time is the service-found we were having to wait to catch the eye of waiter for sauce and then the bill at the end of the meal. Compared to last time when we were upstairs the waitress was on it, always attentive. Didn’t dampen our experience, just though it was worth highlighting-we’ll be back as we enjoy Maxwell’s.

Martina was serving us and had amazing service very nice manners and served our table with such an energetic and happy atmosphere

10/10 experience! Went to celebrate a friend's birthday, the cocktails and snacky sharing bits went down a treat! And a free glass of Prosecco for international women's day!

Brilliant place! Kids loved the times playing and the food came in very good sized portions. Reasonably priced and accessible for central London. Highly recommend.

I had a good time in Maxwell's Bar & Grill. The food was great, a good selection on the menu, and the staff very nice. Especially Martina who served me made sure that my wishes were taken care of. Definitly a recommendation if you are close by! :)

My first time in London, a place located near Covent Garden, a beautiful surprise! Not only I ate very well, but my friends and I were warmly welcomed by the manager Samanta and for the rest of the lunch we were served by Martina, who advised us in the choice of food, reassured us and made us feel at home. Her presence has certainly illuminated the bar. For this reason I thank all the staff of Maxwell's bar and grill. I hope to come back soon!

Had a delicious lunch deal, which is available Mon-Fri, 12pm-5pm. You get a burger, fries and a drink for £15. Thought this was a brilliant deal! The staff are really friendly and welcoming and the food was really tasty! I had the waygu burger and a glass of red in the deal. The food was so nice we also ordered salt and pepper squid and some ribs as sides! The music is great and it feels like you are in an American diner! Cannot fault the service!! Will be back! Great cocktails too!

I went with some friends for lunch...really excellent food and service, the young and super helpful waiters recommended us and brought us some delicious burgers, the dessert was also excellent. Super recommended place!!

Rude waitress. The terrace is non-smoking, however there is no sign indicating this when you decide to sit there. The waitress makes it clear to you that you are not welcome when you ask if you can smoke. Furthermore, when the time comes to ask for a jug of water or the bill, she rolls her eyes and doesn't take the time to respond to you with words. Adding that the carafe served was half empty, had it been served to previous customers? The cappuccino was fortunately much better than the service.

I came and ate here last week with my dad and the food was great but not as good at the service from the beautiful Martina, she made our night, we will be sure to come back whenever we visit London.

45-50min wait between dishes, long wait for drinks but were extremely busy on a Saturday night, food came out hot and waiters asked her food was and kept us up to date

Of an age when remember Maxwell's in Hampstead! Been coming ever since and generally been good. Went a Sat after theatre ... pretty busy. Greating was good and friendly. Service was average at best tho. My daughter and I both had the wagyu burger. Why do restaurants serve fries/chips in a basket! Nicely done burger and good chips .. bit mean on the ketchup/mayo serving tho and bacon was a tad tasteless. Served my cider with ice in the glass sorry prefer it chilled but undiluted with ice! Gents toilets were messy.

Awfully loud, a sensory overload! Asked to turn down the music and they barely did that. Will definitely not recommend if you want somewhere peaceful to talk

The gluten free menu/food doesn’t automatically apply if you have a child that is GF. We had to wait approval from the manager. Then we were told, the chips are cross contaminated so we could have salad instead of chips!! Beware!!!!

Highly recommend for anyone with severe nut and shellfish allergy! The staff were really on top of it. The burger, fries and chocolate milkshake were delicious. Will definitely eat here again!

We visited for my daughters 18th birthday which was a couple day prior. The very rude bolshy foreign young lady server told us after we had ordered that both both my daughters weren't allowed cocktails. Her reason was that the excited girls weren't 21 I'm sure un England the age to drink is 18, she said they could have 1 lager or 1 250ml of wine. Wine really!! The girls were both upset it was going to be a treat. Stay away if u want an enjoyable experience. The server ruined it b4 we had started. Found a lovely place a couple doors down. It and the staff were fantastic.

So clean which is rare in London! Great food, fab staff great place for burgers & diner style food. The toilets were also amazingly clean and the Manager Scott and staff so friendly. Definitely recommend this place 👍

My favorite place to have dinner with my friends! The Mac and cheese balls are to die for and are perfect competition to rival Mac and cheese balls from the Cheesecake Factory if you are American. While the food and drinks may be pricy, they are worth the price. You can taste that everything is made with love and the staff are always happy to answer any questions and meet diet restrictions and accommodate for allergies. The music also adds to the American bar&grill vibe.

We came here for dinner just before going to a show in London. We had heard about Maxwell's Bar & Grill from friends for doing steak and we weren't disappointed! It was very busy when we arrived but seated fast. Food was good value and came quickly would recommend

Awful customer service We researched and booked a table for this Saturday at 5pm through their website. We are going to see a show at 7! Whole family looked at menu, then today they are now fully booked. Awful a they offered 7.30, when we will be in a show! No call just an email Just lost a customer and for the worst customer service a poor review.

Drink prices were correct and the waitress was really really kind and nice.

Excellent lunch. We all had something different and all 4 meals were really tasty. Great cocktails, even better it was happy hour.

We all ordered different dishes (Mac'n Cheese Balls, Chilli Cheese Steak, Maxwell's Classic Burger, Nourish Punch, Brownie Fudge) and were completely thrilled and couldn't fault the taste at all. The waiters are friendly and fulfill requests that are not necessarily on the menu, the waiters are just a bit slow, hence four stars for service. The music is good and has a good volume (unlike some locations), the decor fits the diner atmosphere. Overall we were very at peace.

The flagship burger was a bit of a letdown. A margarita was served to us that was so salty it was unable to drink. Maybe the lid fell off.

In London on business and looking for somewhere different to eat. I stumbled upon Maxwell's online and booked. Service was impeccable and the food was just what we wanted, tasty, good portions and freshly cooked. Unfortunately I didn't catch our servers name but she was from Brasil so hopefully that helps as she was fantastic, understands customer service perfectly and couldn't be faulted. When I am in London again I will definitely come back to Maxwell's!

The service was commendable, the music selection was enjoyable, and although everything was satisfactory, the desserts were particularly outstanding.

Such a lovely place, with wonderful staff. We had lunch that catered for all, fussy and non fussy eaters. We were late to our booked table and the manager and his staff were totally amazing. Thank you- we really enjoyed our lunch.

Food wasn’t great but service was very good. The down side is when you order the bottomless cocktails option after about 3 drinks they stop putting alcohol in them.

Lunch with friends Saturday afternoon. Very nice restaurant, excellent food, perfect value for money. We tried the burgers and the nourish bowl 👌. The icing on the cake, Amalio who took care of us with great kindness. An address to recommend, we will return!

Staff are great! Personable, polite, eager to please. Good atmosphere too. Food, I ordered sirloin steak had to send it back as it was lukewarm and pepper sauce was cold. New one cooked, hot but gristly and couldn’t eat it. Not charged but ruined our experience. Loos, sticky floor and broken toilet seat. Not impressed as this was a special occasion and it’s quite pricey here for what is, essentially, a burger bar

After reading mixed reviews I was a bit hesitant but I couldn’t have been more wrong! We arrived 15 minutes earlier than our booking and they seated us. Great service, good food and a lovely atmosphere. Would definitely go again!

My wife and I discovered Maxwells after an afternoon at the theater and we had a lovely dinner sitting outside in a nice enclosed and warm dining area (in January!). She had steak fajitas- very tasty- and I had the Classic Maxwell Burger which was delicious. Highly recommend.

We had company Xmas lunch here, in the basement, I had the vegan option. Food was fine, I’m not vegan and the roasts also looked good. Everything was fine, recommend for no frills and generally ok. Have to bear in mind there was a lot of us so catering was limited.

I always go to Maxwell’s Bar and Grill when I go to Covent Garden. I love the delicious food , great service and clean restaurant.

very nice and friendly place. American classic. I had the hamburger and chips while my partner had the ribs. All good. The only thing perhaps was the service was a little slow. But the waiters are very kind and the atmosphere is very cool

Gem of a place for a burger, steak. I probably overdid it going for the Tomahawk steak meant for two, but I was hungry so finished it anyway. There was a slight mixup with the order with one of our group, but they were kind enough to compensate us with a round of drinks. Friendly staff, and enjoyed the vibe and background music.

Service and food is amazing here and it’s a nice place to have a bite to eat and meet friends. The only small issue was that I did write a note on my booking which was for our table for two not to be a booth as I am big and tall and simply won’t fit, therefore need a table with a chair. This wasn’t read, so there was a bit of embarrassment and waiting for them to rectify the issue on the day. However the host was very patient and worked hard to get us seated, our waitress was great, as well as the staff generally being very welcoming and friendly, regardless of whether they are taking your table or not. The food came in a reasonable time and was excellent! The £15 burger meal and drink deal is really good value. I recommend the churros for dessert - absolutely delicious along with everything else we ordered. Good service, good food, good menu, prices and portions. Just please make sure to read the notes for bookings ahead of time to save any issues, etc. Otherwise, perfection!

“A fantastic experience at Maxwell London” I had the pleasure of visiting Maxwell London recently and was pleasantly surprised. The Aperol Spritz was simply perfect: balanced, refreshing and served with impeccable presentation. Furthermore, the food lived up to my expectations; Every dish I tried had exceptional flavor and was prepared with attention to detail. The atmosphere of the place is cozy and elegant, ideal for enjoying good food and drink in the heart of London. The staff were also very attentive and friendly, which completed a wonderful experience. Definitely a place I will return to and recommend to anyone looking for good food and cocktails in the city. Came here at an incredibly busy time so staff were understandably rushed off their feet. However, still got our food on time. Food was okay.

Went in for lunch on Sunday. We waited an hour for our food after ordering. No member of staff came to apologize for our long wait. When I approached a waiter about this he seemed surprised. He did however summon a manager to speak to me. She deducted 25% from the bill , which I appreciated, however I paid 12.5 service charge, which in retrospect, I wish I had asked her to remove. I wouldn't go there again.

I wish I could have read the reviews before going in. Got excited that the place bears my name and skipped the basics on this one. Where to start? Hostess showed zero empathy ( she looked like she was the boss around the place ) . Asked for a table to have dinner and she said there were none, I counted at least 6 empty ones for the whole time I spent in this place. Music was crazy loud the whole time, the only people that seemed to enjoy: the staff. They work hard, so they deserve to have some fun. Not funny was the price… 42 Pounds for a dead baby back ribs cooked couple of days before ( judging by how dry it was) and a glass of gin and tonic…. Not worthy…. And you mandatory pay for service charge… So there is no way no to praise this disaster of service. Please if you have read until here, don’t waste your precious time and money going there… there are plenty of great options for all tastes and budgets literally just a block away.

We had a wonderful evening here just before Christmas. The atmosphere and service is too notch. It was reservation only due to the high demand. The food wasn't perfect but it was excellent value considering you're dining in the heart of Covent Garden. So I would still give this place 10/10 for the complete experience. Our teenagers loved it too and they're notoriously difficult to please.

Wonderful place... Sophisticated and very tasty food... I was served by Sara, who was very attentive and polite. I was a bit confused with English and she saved me there. LOL

Fabulous meal here staff very friendly

The food ranged between tasteless (cheesecake) to mediocre (ribs) to excellent (prawns). I was truly surprised at the cheesecake. It wasn’t just that it wasn’t to my taste, it was that it looked amateurish. The crust was weird and rock hard and the presentation wasn’t great (see photo). The ribs didn’t fall off the bone (forgot to take a photo). The prawns were delicious. The music is loud, the staff are attentive, If sometimes forgetful. We had a good time.

SO there was no service , no water bought to table offered drinks they did not arrive , chips was hot steak was cold not a good experience , was not happy to pay a service charge as there was none , wont re visit , felt all a bit rushed and mad food not to return for im afraid !!

Unfortunately I didn’t have the best meal. We was sit in the restaurant for about 20 minutes before we was asked what we wanted to drink or eat. I understand it was very busy so I didn’t complain l, but needs to be quicker. I then was recommended the ribs and told they fall off the bone but instead they was cooked, but not enough as they didn’t fall off the bone and was very tough. Also not enough sauce. Chips were okay. My starter of Mac n cheese balls were nice. My partner also had the burger and it was very average aswell. I feel bad giving this review but I feel the quality needs to be better during busy times like Xmas so you don’t ruin the reputation.

Food and atmosphere were both good, but the service was very poor. Waited a while for our starter and waited even longer for our main course. The manager did take off the service charge and reduced our bill by £15. Shame really because it could have been a much better experience for us.

We’ve visited Maxwells a number of times now and have never had any complaints, the food and service have always been great, the guy who served us on our latest visit was attentive, polite and made sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant was extremely busy, so busy we couldn’t wait in the restaurant bar area when we arrived a little early for our booking, but despite how busy it was, the service and food were still great.

I have used Maxwell’s for years and they never disappoint The food is always lovely and the staff are very accommodating and friendly It’s my go to restaurant in the west end .

We ate here after a visit to the theatre. 6 of us, it was very busy, we had to wait 5 to 10 mins for our table , that was pre booked. So we moved away from the door as it was cold and congested and sat near the bar and ordered drinks. The table was ready before we got all the drinks, although I don't think it was our original destination table wise, and as it was it was straight opposite the door, which was kept open most of the time we were eating, which made it a little cold and uncomfortable. Could of asked to be moved I suppose but it was so busy, it seemed a hassle. Food was great though and it's a nice place for an American diner, would definitely visit again.

This place is very busy but the staff is wonderful and the food is great. We are an American family so we went there for their Thanksgiving menu which was really good, so we went back the next night for their regular menu. We were not disappointed!

For London, the value is resonable, proving that top-notch quality doesn’t have to break the bank. Highly recommended for a memorable meal! We sat down for a quick beer at the counter. The climate was pleasant, seeing other customers' dishes pass by I must say that it intrigued me because they seemed very tasty and well presented, I will return if possible.

The food is lovely. We really enjoyed the food. The staff also went out of their way to seat us earlier which was really good. The atmosphere was also nice, although it was packed, very busy. The starters took a long time to come out, and the sharing nachos were nice but they have massively reduced their portion with this. The mains also took a long time to come out and there was confusion when the food came to us as to whether it was ours, it was then taken away and then brought back again. We were also rushed at the end as our table was needed as it was so busy. There was then a £20 service charge. So the service experience was mixed. The atmosphere was okay. The food was very good. It was not the same as it used to be when they were at their old venue.
