Green Bar at Hotel Cafe Royal in City of London, Westminster

We visited the Green Bar yesterday to celebrate my father’s 70th birthday with pre-dinner drinks. The service was good—attentive without being intrusive. What truly stood out was the warm, unpretentious ambiance. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, lively without being overwhelming, with no blaring music or harsh lighting to detract from the experience. The drinks were excellent; a broader selection of non-alcoholic options would have been the cherry on top. We enjoyed the courgette fries and vegetable rolls as bar snacks. The Hummingbird Beverage was a delight. Overall, it’s a highly recommended spot for anyone seeking a beautiful yet inviting setting

Had an amazing experience at this bar! Chris and his team really knows their craft. Chris asked for our preferences and he and his team created incredible, personalized cocktails—the Medicine and Singapore Sling are absolute must-tries. We ended the night with whiskeys perfectly chosen to each of our tastes. The bar snacks were a hit too, especially the rice crackers. The atmosphere and service made us feel truly special. Highly recommend!

I had the pleasure of being served by Chris, and I must say they are one of the most knowledgeable bartenders I’ve ever encountered. His passion for mixology truly shines through in every drink craft. Not only does he have an impressive understanding of flavors and spirits, but he also made excellent recommendations based on my preferences. The attention to detail and the creativity in each cocktail was remarkable. If you’re looking for a top-notch bar experience, Chris is the person to ask for. Highly recommended!

Hugely disappointing experience. Seated in the outside bar area. Our table was clearly treated differently to other guests. Not sure why. I have never asked for the service charge to be removed from a bill, as despite my Asian heritage I am very English about not wanting to make a fuss, but I was so incensed at our treatment that I felt compelled to do so. I explained why to the manager, Abel, who is clearly a very decent guy and offered us a complementary round of drinks, which we had to decline as we had theatre tickets, but the damage had been done. Thank you Abel for your efforts to make the best of a bad situation but perhaps make sure your staff treat all customers the same. Sadly, I won’t be going back.

Come here if you want real Absinthe. The staff will chat you up whilst providing excellent service; very knowledgeable and skilled.

I recently visited Green Bar with high expectations, and while the experience started off great, it ended on a disappointing note. First, the positives: The service throughout the evening was excellent, and the presentation of our drinks was impressive. We ordered four different drinks, each one perfectly crafted and enjoyable. The atmosphere was nice, and it felt like a good place to relax and have a conversation. However, our experience was soured as we were leaving. The bartender made a sarcastic comment, saying, "You guys were here before my colleague started the shift." This remark was rude and uncalled for, making it clear that we had overstayed our welcome in his eyes. We were taken aback by this attitude, especially since we were simply enjoying our drinks and conversation, not loitering or taking up space without ordering. People go to bars to unwind, socialize, and enjoy their time, not to feel rushed or judged. Unfortunately, this one negative interaction overshadowed an otherwise pleasant evening, and because of this, I don't see myself returning to Green Bar. It’s a shame, but there are plenty of other places where customers are made to feel welcome for the duration of their visit.

Very friendly attentive staff with a good selection of cocktails and the only Absinthe bar I know. Great place, highly recommended.

It has great service and lovely and nice waiters. It has a god vibe with great calf music and beautiful furniture and decoraitions.

Interesting concept! All things absinthe. Quite fun, but I reverted to the classic cocktails. Just personal preference. Wonderfully attentive staff and also knowledgable. Smart bar in a 5* hotel.

Great Absinthe Drinks, very friendly and attentive staff!

Amazing experience. Came into to cafe royal hotel and the green bar was just over to the left. Received a warm welcome and sat in a lovely location with the bar behind me, so great to get some cute pictures. Arranged this for my partner as he turned 50 at midnight (17th june) and he is a huge absinthe fan. There was a great selection of absinthe available and some gorgeous absinthe cocktails. (And lots of none absinthe related drinks but we were there for the green stuff). We had some cocktails and were given some complimentary almonds and olives, which were delicious, not usually an olive fan but they were lovely. We also ordered some small plate food and it was delicious. The service was second to none. We were served by Sam and another guy (who's name I didn't catch). They were both super professional and friendly. They are an absolute testament to the business. I asked Sam about places open after midnight as we knew the green bar closed at midnight (my partners birthday) and it was a Sunday, he gave me some recommendations which was so helpful. He then brought my partner a glass of prosecco for his bday and we were able to stay in the bar to welcome in my partners bday. It absolutely made my partners night. We were both so impressed, we asked Sam where we could give some feedback about the service we've received. So Sam, if you see this, thanks so much... we had a great time and you and the team took such good care of us. Although the booking was intended as being a one off for a special occasion....after our experience we will be back every time we head down to London!. Amazing!!

Amazing! Unbelievable! Overwhelming, Unforgettable experience ! All of these words and more don't come close how incredible this establishment is, we went for the evening for drinks, (a very fine selection of absinthe) and food to celebrate an event, and honestly what makes the night aside from the venue is the staff, namely Sam, friendly, charming, professional, a great sense of humour and someone who just simply shines at what he does, no words! Sam thankyou for making our night, you made it so pleasurable and enjoyable! you will not be forgotten, thankyou so much!

Very quiet and calm spot in the middle of an extremely hectic area with a strong focus on absinthe. As absinthe was the first alcohol I ever had, I happen to loathe it. The bar is pleasantly relaxed but suffers terribly from a lack of definition - not intimate enough to be a good date spot but not boisterous enough to be fun. Positively inoffensive but inoffensive isn’t enough to standout in this city.

Beautiful bar, feels very elegant. Service was great and didn’t have to wait long for drinks. They specialise in Absinthe cocktails but have a vast menu of other cocktails and will make any classic. Free snacks on the table. £18-20 for a cocktail so not cheap but totally worth it. Would recommend and will be back. Thanks

Good location very close to Piccadilly. Service was good, its a small bar. Not sure why they keep all the curtains closed, it would be nice to be able to look out. Ordered Champagne which was delicious.

A disappointing experience. Firstly, they were apparently unable to remove of one ingredients in a cocktail (yogurt), despite raising that this was due to my dietary restrictions. Secondly, my friend and I were sat at the bar and the bartender was very messy throughout the entire evening, which included spilling a cocktail across the table in front of me, on my hat and phone. This bartender also knocked a selection of jiggers over, one of which fell into our bowl of table almonds. This jigger was placed back on its little mat without being washed, which is an obvious health hazard to anyone who may be allergic to nuts. There are better cocktails in London, for better prices, and with better service than here. I assure you.

Lovely place, great cocktails, great service but quite pricey. £20 for a cocktail is too much.

Mateo makes the best cocktails in London.

This bar is one of the best spots in London, period. Simone (head bartender) is a world class mixologist and he along with his incredible team deliver drinks that amaze the taste bids. The service here is also exemplary and if you can't choose from the menu they will make a fantastic drink to your exact specifications. I cannot recommend Green Bar highly enough.

Accidentally stumbled across Green Bar and couldn’t be happier that we did! Matteo and Roberto provided the most amazing service, with some on the best cocktail recommendations we’ve ever received. They explained every detail of the unique ingredients used, when making our drinks and they were the most incredible cocktails we’ve even had! The service of everyone in the bar, was all round outstanding! We will hdefinitely be returning in the future.

Fab place to watch the world go by and try some unique cocktails. Not usually fan of absinthe but dared to try a couple of the signature drinks. My partner's better than mine but both really quite delicious. Great staff but took a long time to get served and get our bill, only two bartenders on at 5.30-7pm was probably too little, and disappointingly, reception a little hesitant to help get us a taxi at the end... felt they were a little put out by the request. £95 for 4 cocktails (plus 15% service), so you definitely know you're in London when you get the bill! Lovely experience for a special occasion.

Visited for a pre dinner cocktail. Elegant modern decor with comfortable seating. Despite the bar being busy the host Roberto was very accommodating and found a table for us. Matteo from the bar was also extremely pleasant and the cocktails were lovely. Highly recommended.

We went only for drinks and it was a very nice and amazing experience whit the help of simone and his very nice viewcariat sooo good 10/10.

Great experience. Simone, the head bartender made me a Hanky Panky as I was craving Fernet Branca and he used a rare Italian Gin I had never heard of. Was one of the best drinks I've had. Highly recommend.

We stumbled across the door whilst out mooching on Regent Street and asked where we could have cocktails and were escorted to the Green Bar. So glad we were - simply gorgeous! Felt so luxurious and exclusive. The cocktails were amazing and the free nuts and olives helped stomach the price of the drinks however, for the environment, the fab staff, I'd pay it again! Definitely worth treating yourself! I will be back

Just happened upon this bar. It looked stunning Kerey had a lovely gleaming smile. Sam (the man) was our waiter. He was so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
