A great place to meet friends for lunch or a cuppa! Lovely welcoming staff & fabulous homemade cakes & lunch choices! Good value too! My toastie was delicious & one of the best skinny cappuccino’s in Sutton !

So lucky to have this place just around the corner. Great coffee and best cheese on toast EVER! Always such a warm welcome from the staff and highly recommend

This place has changed owner and the change is not a positive one The food portions have shrunk but not the prices ! Drinks don’t appear on the menu so you don’t know how much it is going to cost you They are supposed to be child-friendly but we found that they weren’t The playroom was shut when we got there and cold The waitress who served us could do with a course in charm as she has none She was very abrupt , not friendly at all When you spend a fair amount of money in a place like that , you expect a warmer welcome Won’t be going there again

Recently changed ownership which sadly has really changed the atmosphere, portion sizes and quality of food. Used to like coming here mainly for the play room at the back and a couple of exceptionally friendly staff members, it is now clear that they don’t welcome children any longer. One Staff member was so rude when I was clearly struggling to leave with a crying baby, she told me I had to clear up after myself. Does that include taking our plates and washing them up? She clearly didn’t want to have to do her own job. She also kept wanting to take our plates plates away when we hadn’t finished. It is such a shame because it used to be a real gem of an independent coffee shop. I will stick to the big brand places from now on!

Had an awesome experience while having breakfast here today! Even had a free birthday cake treat 🤩 would definitely recommend popping into this little beaut!!

Poor service, only one other customer in the premises. Ordered two drinks that came 15 minutes apart and had to remind staff about second drink. Wont be returning.

I just wanted to say a huge thank-you to Dean and the ladies for allowing me to work out of the Cafe for 2 days whilst my son played county development cricket all day round the corner at the Four Oaks CC. One of the only reasons I could do this was that they have a secured Wi-fi connection (unlike the branded high street coffee shops. I got speaking to Dean over the time I was there and he is a real friendly, down to earth, local guy. I hope your holiday with your father goes well.

In light of the recent challenges, I decided to support a local business & get my usual cappuccino from Max's Coffee Shop, but my experience was shocking & extremely disappointing! I'd walked over with my dog & not being sure I could take her inside (missed the sign on the door), I asked politely & was met with a hostile & exasperated roll of the eyes & a point to the sign! So I missed it! Easily done & certainly didn't warrant the hostile, rude & obnoxious attitude which I challenged again politely, and was told I was being 'arsy'!! Certainly never going back & will be sticking with the big brand coffee shops I have to drive to, where excellent, welcoming & friendly customer service is a given!! Arrogance from a small business thinking they have the monopoly of the area doesn't pay in the long run! Any successful business owner would tell you losing 1 customer is 1 too many!!

I love the latte here , add one of the delicious cakes ....probably a rocky roads , what better way to kick off the day .

My husband and I visited this coffee shop today ...a very wet Friday ! I only noticed it whilst reviewing another coffee shop in Sutton . Our youngest grandchild is called Max so naturally we had to give it a look . Fabulous . We were instantly made welcome and were able to find a table newly sanitised . It was table service only and our drinks and snacks arrived very quickly with a smile and a quick word from us as to why we had chosen to visit this particular coffee shop. Music was playing quietly and the other 5 tables well spaced had customers enjoying a coffee and catch up. We will definitely return here and maybe have more than just toast and coffee . ! There are a few tables outside suitable to use in dry weather . It’s in a small row of shops and on road parking is available . Sensible prices too .

Excellent Coffees ,Fresh Cakes & Some Snacks. Good Seating Inside & Out With Kiddies Small Play Area Inside. Lovely Friendly Staff & Sensible Prices .Parking Outside Or In The Side Road Opposite.

Well what can I say other than I love independent coffee shops but Max’s is the best. It’s so lovely and friendly. Very welcoming, great decor, comfy chairs and the coffee and cake selection is amazing. Whether I’m grabbing a coffee to go or staying in for a chill it’s a great environment. I’ve come several times with friends, family and on my own. I came to a graffiti workshop with my kids last summer which they loved. Max’s run lots of workshops and clubs and has a real community feel. A bit out of the way to usual area for eateries but worth the journey.

Always a warm welcome from this local family run business, lovely coffee and superb range of hot beverages and delicious cakes, now even offering tasty jacket potatoes, just what’s needed with the colder weather on its way, take away too, fabulous place in a great location

Visited for the first time today and what a fantastic coffee shop. Great cakes and drinks and service was brilliant. Really friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere with trendy decor. Highly recommended and we will definitely be using here regularly in the future. Many thanks.

What a little gem. Very lucky local residents to have a wonderful privately owned coffee shop within the neighbourhood. Great cosy ambiance, comfy chairs and sofas, supporting local artist and crafts. Fab secure play area for the little ones too. Exceptionally clean and comfortable. But not forgetting the yummy panini, herbal tea and of course the lovely ladies that greet and look after you during your entire visit. So attentive, accommodating and friendly!! A great hub whilst waiting for your bank to make that important transfer! Thank you ladies for looking after me yesterday whilst it was grim outside, but lovely and cosy in your wonderful coffee shop. I would have tried your delicious cakes and ate the biscuit that accompanied the tea but unfortunately I’m on Lent.... A place not to miss, to eat-in or on the go, plus 🐶friendly too. Such a lovely cosy coffee shop. Emma normally manages to provide some really gorgeous gluten free cakes which is such a refreshing change from the prepackaged stuff you find in the chain coffee shops. The coffee (and tea) is also fab. Dogs also welcome so it’s a great place to pop into after walking the dog.

We regularly enjoy visiting Max’s for the gorgeous coffee and cakes. It’s perfect for families as it has the playroom at the back for toddlers, is dog friendly and the owners are lovely. It’s very welcoming considering we usually take over with our twin babies, toddler and dog!

This coffee shop provides for young children, therefore mummies and grannies can have a relaxing coffee. Can enjoy the very tasty coffee or indulge in a tasty cake. Look out for the themed days - some for children, others for adults.

This little gem of a coffee shop is a proper little find. The locally sourced coffee beans, yummy cakes and savouries are all so reasonably priced. Lovely for an adult only visit or with the little ones who are v happy in the play room. Comfortable, stylish with lovely decor and fantastic friendly service!

This is a lovely coffee shop and very child friendly - they have a room which leads to the toilet which is full of toys! My 2 year old had a great time.

Absolutely love calling in to Max’s Coffee Shop. So lovely to visit a non chain, individual, own personality coffee shop. Beautifully decorated inside, tables and chairs outside, great coffee, amazing cakes and you can even have a Prosecco if you fancy it! Barista evenings, Gin tasting evenings and lots of community events. Very friendly in there too, make you very welcome whether you are a staying in or coffee on the go customer. A real hidden gem of an establishment.

We attended Max’s for their Mothers Day Special event and were certainly not disappointed

I’ve reviewed it before and I’ll review it again. Max’s is the perfect coffee shop. Everything about it great. Emma runs a brilliant set up that is perfect for kids as well as people wanting to escape for a quiet coffee.

Pass this place at least twice a day on the school run and finally found some time to park up and venture in.

Absolutely love it. The coffee is brilliant, as well as the friendly atmosphere. Love it. The staff are wonderful, the service is very high standards. If you love hidden gems and cafe's that are quirky, you must try Max's.

Always a treat to pop in to Max's for a great cup of coffee or 'proper' pot of tea and a warm welcome. Fab range of cakes and snacks and great for the little ones too. What more could we ask for :-)

Forget paying £4.95 for a slice of cake at aromatica. Go straight to Max's where you can get delicious cakes, tea and coffee for half the price. A fantastic little coffee shop that also opens late on a Friday and holds occasional gin evenings etc. I've visited for tea and cake about 3 times now and it's been scrumptious every time. Stay away from the big chain shops in mere green and support your local community where the coffee, cake and service are far better.

Family run business serving delicious coffee and cakes in stylish surroundings. They periodically offer other events such as Gin tasting, Lego card swapping, parent and toddler mornings and shopping evenings. Connecting room for children to relax and play in with a superb selection of toys.

Heard about Max's coffee shop from some friends so thought we'd pay a visit. Such a friendly place and the coffee and cakes are superb.

I love it at max's. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and you can get a perfect coffee with a lovely cake from a local supplier. I think there is a great community vibe here too, as they often run gin tasting and beauty events. There is even a play room with toys to keep the little ones entertained.

Great coffee and cakes. Stylish decor. Friendly owner. And it's round the corner from me! The bonus is the little kiddie room at the back where you can shove your baby badgers while you have a relaxing sit.

Very nice coffee shop with locally ground coffee and good selection of cakes. Friendly service and nice ambiance, good for casual meetings with friends, or small casual business meetings. Specialist evenings for Gin tasting. Bar also serves drinks.
