Mavi Ruya Turkish Bar & Grill in Sheffield

Just back from an amazing meal. The food was delicious and the portions generous. The staff were very efficient and extremely friendly. We were given complimentary Turkish delight after the meal, which I typically don’t like, however this was so good and I could have happily eaten more. Highly recommend and will absolutely be returning.

This restaurant has a nice ambiance to it. The decor is very nice and stylish. The staff are very friendly and happy which helps to create a pleasant event. But, beware! The food is at best average! And the prices all round are very extortionate. To rub salt into to wound, they then add a 12.5% service charge to your bill for serving you with food and drink at already over inflated prices. Sorry! Wouldn’t recommend. £290 for a family of four, then that service charge if 12.5%, REALLY!

Portions were perfect, meze dips were fab. Meat was exquisite. We will definitely be back.

Been back to this amazing restaurant again , been here for family and friends birthdays and general evening meals with friends. The quality of the food is amazing and taste out of this world. Which is made even better with the happy and relaxed atmosphere, made by the amazing staff , which are so helpful. Can't wait until my next visit

We went on a Saturday with no booking, they fit us in without issue. Seated upstairs. Very attentive staff and the food was quick. £100 inc auto 12.5% tip for a small meze, extra bread, 3 soft drinks, chips, a mixed grill and a veggie main. So a little on the pricy side but as the food and staff were nice I dont mind. I would go again.

Absolutely incredible place. Our family was passing through and decided to pop in for dinner at short notice. We were dressed comfortably as had a long drive so we were feeling under dressed but we still received absolutely impeccable service and made to feel very welcome. The staff were very friendly, the restaurant was warm and had a great atmosphere- each time someone ordered a desert on their birthday a song was played and everyone clapped their hands. The food was outstanding - I am not often blown away when eating out but tonight I was. The only down side is it’s 4 hours away from my home… but I am still considering a night away in future so I can eat here again. Thank you so much x

Great NYE dinner. Very busy but didn’t impact quality in any way. Service was excellent and food was as it always is. It’s good simple quality fresh food. It seems to cater for all party sizes and everyone seemed to be having a great night. The belly dancer was a plus point and made the NYE’s visit memorable

What a fantastic dining experience. We ate here today as a family of 5 for the first time. Very nice decor- tables which aren't squashed too closely and comfy seating. All the staff from front of house to table service were really pleasant and very efficient. The food we ate without exception was outstanding- compliments to the chefs. We will definitely be returning customers. Thank you.

The food lacked any semblance of flavour and the restaurant was also extremely loud and felt like a canteen, which made it difficult to hold a conversation. One of the cold starters tasted like an ashtray. All in all, a very disappointing culinary experience and overpriced food.

Booked our Christmas Party here and opted for the set Christmas Menu. What can I say. The whole experience was brilliant. All of the staff were absolutely amazing; helpful and informative. Considering the restaurant was full and we had 13 people in our party, everything ran smoothly and the food came out hot and was just so tasty. Highly recommend the Mavi Ruya Special...what a treat for the eyes and the belly! I will definitely be returning and all of my staff said the same! Well done Mavi Ruya for making our Christmas Party special.

I was recommended this place from a friend so I decided to book for last night as it was my birthday. On arrival we was made to feel welcome and seated straight away. The service was fantastic and was recommended to try the sharer platter for 2 people which we did. The food was amazing 👏 and would definitely be coming back soon 😋. We'd heard reports that this place was good; it's fantastic. The whole atmosphere of the place on both floors and outside makes you feel welcome and wanted immediately you enter. The service is fast, friendly and very informative and the food is excellent. There's a great variety and you find yourself looking at all the dishes being served around you, often with envy. Great beer, I recommend the Tuborg Gold and a good choice of wines. All in all, a great dining and social experience. One tip, book well in advance. Update: went again on Saturday 16th November- again, FANTASTIC.

A mid week visit and the atmosphere was vibrant. The food was excellent and plentiful. The service we received was warm and friendly with a special reference for Leo who was charming and helpful. I highly recommend a visit to this restaurant but advise you book in advance as it is very busy. You won’t be disappointed.

My goodness what a wonderful place! I’m so sad I didn’t try it sooner!!! Firstly the warm welcome by the guy at the door who checked our reservation then the wonderful food! The platter for 2 was wonderful, the food was full of flavours and the service was impeccable! All the staff are very engaging! I would definitely recommend this place especially for special occasions as they have such as good atmosphere for celebrations ❤️

Great food, great service! Because it’s such a popular spot, it’s always packed in here therefore it is a little hard to hear the people in your own party sat right opposite you. The staff are always really welcoming and are very happy to celebrate any birthdays/occasions with you! The food, drink, and service is always on point. Beautiful Baba Ghanoush too!

Kuzu Beyti tastes nothing but smoke no spice or anything, Mavj Rüya special was very entertaining and delicious. Prices are too high for seemingly no reason. Return would be very unlikely.

It began as a charming eatery in Sheffield, known for its quality and inviting atmosphere. However, over time, I’ve noticed a decline, likely due to an increased focus on commercialism and a diminishing sense of customer care. The experience now feels rushed—you're seated, place your order, the food is served, and before you've had a chance to fully enjoy your meal, the plates are swiftly cleared, sending the clear message that it’s time to leave. Unfortunately, the personal touch and class that once made it special seem to have faded.

This was our first visit as we came from Doncaster, I can highly recommend this restaurant the food was outstanding, the best lamb chops we've ever tried, three of us went and we will return, the staff showed us around the restaurant, even took us upstairs to there other bar and seating area, I can only praise the staff for their hospitality and professionalism .

Absolutely Fabulous place, the food is divine. I’ve eaten around the world and if I could chose somewhere to eat authentic Turkish food this would be the place I would come every time. Quality deserves merit and this place doesn’t disappoint with the electric atmosphere and friendly staff. I hear they are expanding too and no doubt this will be a future franchise!!

Our second visit to Mavi Ruta and it didn't disappoint again. We shared the larger platter between 4 and it was a great feed. The meat is incredibly tasty and well cooked, with a beautiful charcoal flavour. Honestly the only thing I would change is adding a few local craft beers on tap.

Amazing service even when very busy! We managed to get a table without a booking but do recommend booking in advance because we arrived quite early and it got very busy later on. Mocktails were very tasty!

Superb food - great service - you could tell all the ingredients were really fresh - the service was prompt without being rushed - the staff were very friendly - their warm baklava dessert suggestion was spot on - really tasty and the lamb shish was excellent, every ingredient fresh and tasty - will be our first choice when we return to Sheffield next time

We were so impressed with this place. The staff were really helpful and knowledgeable about the dishes, giving lots of info on the restaurant itself which was interesting. The food was exquisite, really professional (Michelin Star worthy I'd say) and delivered to the table really quickly. Loads of vegetarian options with a gorgeous vegan & gluten free main which I had. Really relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Will definitely be going back!

I could not recommend this restaurant more! The great service started even before we arrived - I called earlier to ask if they had a quieter table if possible as one of my family is hard of hearing. When we arrived, the manager gave us tables to choose from. The service throughout the night was friendly and attentive, even though it was a busy Friday evening. The food was excellent - Meze platter to start with great flavours. Mains of lamb, chicken, pide and Adana - all tasted fantastic and full of flavour. The best Adana we had had in the UK! Deserts were again incredible - the warm baklava and cheesecake both tasted amazing. Portions were generous too. Wine was lovely and all for £200 for four of us. Will definitely be back here, such a lovely evening and memorable food

This place is a gorgeous and I wouldn't be surprised if awards follow. We went for our first anniversary and were taken care of and had a brilliant time. The food was fresh and tasty, very authentic food, beautiful atmosphere and I almost divorced my wife to marry the baklava. We had a Turkish white wine which was lovely, a really nice change. Will definitely be back. Special shout out to Leo who took care of us, knew every dish inside out and taught us some Turkish pronunciation!

It's a lovely building and a cool place for a special occasion. We had chicken shish, veg musakka and creamy halloumi chicken. All were decent. The shish cost £20.50 which is a bit steep for something rather basic, in my view. A nice evening, good food and service.

What a fabulous night we had. Visited for a friend birthday tonight. The place just amazing! The atmosphere is incredible, soon as you enter the building you been looked after. We all had starters which was all fantastic especially the oven baked mushroom, all the mains were tasty, hot and well seasoned. Everything tasted fresh and delivered just right and on time! The staff is always very attentive and chatty. All dressed smart and tidy. Really nice to see a place where plenty of staff around and all of them working comfortably and not rushed off their feet. Thank you for making our night special.

1st visit, very clean, friendly staff. Expensive meal for what it is, service charge added to bill for a table of 4, only noticed after we left. Food was OK, freshly prepared but just average.

I had never heard of this place so didn't know what to expect but upon entering, I was impressed. I was greeted by a very well groomed and well presented host, (physically and verbally) who showed me to my table. The decor was modern but with a turkish vibe and was beautifully executed. The seating and tables were very comfortable and the tableware was was lovely. I was very impressed how they seemed to effortlessly cater for everyones needs. There were older people, young children and babies in the restaurant, but the atmosphere was celebratory and joyful. The music was ambient and the birthday celebration ritual was jubilant. The food itself did not disappoint. All the food was freshly prepared and looked beautiful on the plate and they didn't skimp on portions. The plates were big and very worth their pricetag and the taste was absolutely delicious. Well worth a visit, if you can get in. It was very busy, but Excellent!!!

A party of 7 of us visited this afternoon for my Mum's 86th birthday. It was our first visit and I had booked a table in advance. We arrived and were warmly welcomed. My Mum uses a walker and the staff pointed her in the right direction and made sure she room to get to the table. Then they helped her get in her seat. We had a large meze between 5 of us and 2 had their own starters of halloumi and bread with halloumi. Really tasty. Good selection of dips and bread was great. The main courses were huge. Mum had seabass and loved it. Beautifully presented. Three of us had vegetarian moussaka which was incredible! Another had salmon fillet and I think the others had pork chops and chicken. Huge portions and everyone loved their food. No room for dessert. We also had a bottle of wine which was lovely. The service was brilliant. All the staff were friendly and professional. So pleased we discovered this place. Already talking about returning. Thank you!

The restaurant was classy and beautiful. The food was healthy, light, affordable and tasty. The service was outstanding, simply the best in my Tina Turner voice as we were served by Mr "501" Levis, he is just excellently brilliant. The embodiment of great customer service as he was attentive, courteous, knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. We highly recommend the restaurant and we will come back again and again and again for Mr 501 Levis service🤗😊👏👍!!!! Top tip: on a sunny day ask to be sat outside and order the Ruya lamb dish and Ruya Mocktail just lush 💕❤️😋😍!

WOW!! This was our very first visit today & we will definitely be back! From the moment we walked in we were greeted by a very welcoming beautiful, smiley, warm lady named Mary. She was very attentive throughout our meal too, even when the restaurant got super busy. The customer service she gave to us was top notch which unfortunately you don’t often find anymore. This lady is an absolute asset to your restaurant! Thank you Mary for making us feel so comfortable, keep smiling & being you 😀 P.S, Next time we will dress to impress 😉😂 I also have to mention how beautiful the exterior & interior design is, what great effort you all went to here, I couldn’t stop looking around! Everything was just perfect & the restaurant was so clean & comfortable too. All the staff seemed very professional, calm, very smart & the atmosphere was perfect, not too loud or quiet. I honestly can’t believe how quick our food arrived at our table, we ordered a huge meal & it all tasted fresh & was delicious! Thank you to the hardworking super chefs! We definitely ate way too much but then Mary gave a box to take out..although we aren’t sure we will eat for at least a week now! Please don’t judge us, it was only for 2 people & definitely eyes bigger than the belly tonight 🙈😂 Prices are great too for both food & drinks. A lot of restaurants really overcharge too much for drinks but I think you have it just right! The only recommendation I have is to please let staff take direct tips. We were happy to pay the service charge to everyone but we would have also loved to give extra directly to Mary also for all her own direct efforts & incredible service! Thank you all for having us & we will be back & will recommend to anyone 💗

2 different taxi drivers pointed out this smart-looking restaurant as we passed, so we booked for Sunday evening. Their website states "we pride ourselves in offering the finest Anatolian cuisine. With over 20 years of experience creating mouth-watering dishes and seasonal specials, we have something to suit every palate. " The restaurant is very smart and beautifully presented. We received a very warm greeting at the door, and you pass a wonderful display of meats and an extremely long charcoal grill as you are shown in. The menu was pretty extensive with a great choice of really interesting dishes - it was quite difficult to choose! Our table of 6 all chose different main courses and they were all very different but equally delicious - we all cleared our plates. To start, we chose, to share: - Large Mixed Meze served with excellent, warm bread: Cacik, Soslu Patlican, Hummus, Zeytinyagli Fasulye, Barbunya Plaki, Babaganoush - Lahmacun: Very thin Authentic Turkish Flatbread with a Savoury Blend of Finely Seasoned Minced Lamb, Aromatic Onions, Tomatoes, Fragrant Parsley, and Red Peppers We cleared the plates! Then for my main I chose: - Mavi Rüya Special: Marinated Lamb Meat, Roasted to Perfection with a Medley of Tomato, Onion, Aubergine, Mushroom, and Garlic. Prepared in an earthen clay pot and cooked in a Wood-Burning Oven, Crowned with Cheese and Elegantly Covered with Balloon Bread, served with rice This was a spectacularly served dish, brought to the table with the "balloon bread" beautifully raised, then opened up by the waiter to reveal beautiful aromas and the glorious lamb. This place is always a 10/10, atmosphere, quality and vibe is never in doubt. The portions I believe have reduced in size but the prices haven’t. That would be my only gripe.
