Maurizio's in Edinburgh, City of

Me and my partner fancied a nice chippy with a view and we had seen that this was meant to be the best in the queensferry area so we made the 40 minute drive here, we ended up arriving to the place completely closed. Nothing has been said on the Facebook about it being shut and couldn’t see any other info anywhere else. We arrived at around 5pm and it’s a Tuesday so we definitely arrived within advertised opening times. Luckily another chippy in the area was open so we went there instead and it wasn’t a completely wasted trip but wanted to warn others incase they have the same happen.

Lovely food and lovely staff. This is the second year that I've taken a large group of students from Edinburgh Uni to Maurizio's and the communication in advance was great, and the food even better. Thank you for accommodating us. We'll be back again.

Visited here for a fish supper and separate chips. Place was busy and staff were under pressure but they coped very well. Nothing was too much trouble and when two tourist ladies said their order wrong. Chef said wait ten minutes and it will be sorted. We got our meal and it was lovely. Everything was perfect and not a bone to be seen. 5 star.

First time I’ve ever had to throw away a fish supper - the fish was grey and had been cooked ages before and the batter was solid. Most Scottish fish and chip shops cook to order and this was wrapped us for us immediately so I should have realised. The white pudding was also in an unappetising firm batter. So disappointing and embarrassing for such a beautiful town where tourists visit. We won’t be returning.

Visited the shop for 2 fish suppers & a hamburger supper: The fish was overdone & batter hard & unpleasant to eat. The hamburger had to have all the unappetising batter removed before tasting the hard burger underneath. Since retuning home one of our party was very sick which has prompted this email We could not get connection via phone number. We have had many suppers from this shop & this is the first time we all felt the food had been lying for ages … taste out of 10 would be 2 … Not a pleasant experience this visit :-(

Went for family trip to have fish & chips by the seaside… no kids portions and charged additional cost for sauce !!! A bit tight. Food was ok but won’t be in a rush back I’m afraid.

Stumbled across this place a year ago when visiting Queensferry to take in the breathtaking view of all three bridges, Maurizios offer your traditional Fish & Chips, Sausage, King Ring & other favourites but also kebabs & pizzas, perfect for everyone if your not in the mood for fish and chips. The staff are always really friendly & smiling making you feel welcome, food doesnt take long to be cooked and its always fresh. Favourite of mines is if you ask for a single fish they will always throw in a few chips which is great if you only want a few rather than a whole portion, great to eat whilst admiring the fantastic Scottish view. Always visit Maurizios when in the area, favourite chip shop by far in the area, slightly pricey but for the quality of food I dont say no at all, always freshly cooked, hot and ready to eat.

This was the best fish I've ever eaten. The staff were friendly and helpful. Such a pleasure to be served

Visited this chip shop on Sunday and was very disappointed as food was terrible , fish was soggy and greasy and chips were not good either. I was also overpriced as the prices on the website were different by far from what I was charged. When we were in the shop the man behind the counter was on his mobile shouting and we couldn’t hear ourselves think. I phoned up,later in evening to complain about overcharge but they couldn’t care less. I will never be back

Visit here once a month, got fish, chips, black pudding and peas last night, very clean place, great selection of foods, drinks and ice creams, friendly staff and reasonable price.

Promised delivery in an hour, took two. Rang to ask my order was, she put the phone down for ten minutes while I listened to her taking orders from other cistomers. If you youre going to run a service business, you prioritise existing orders over new orders. These guys take your order and then put it on hold while they take all the other orders they can get. When she finally picked up the phone again,she said she had to take the new orders before she could deal with my existing order. Right. Who cares about promises or customer service? Who cares about anything but profit?

Visited here today as it smelled so good and seemed very popular but taste wise it certainly wasnt the best chips we have ever tastied. The portions were very large but prices were a bit ridiculous, they wanted £3.60 for a fritter roll...are they having a laugh? We have never paid more than £1.80 for a fritter roll anywhere in Scotland, definitely wouldn't encourage them. Some things on the menu were a bit confusing, like a scrunchie, never heard of this before but it's actually a pizza crunch, we had to ask what it was. It was very clean inside and service was good but food definitely not worth the money! We wouldn't go here again!

Was really disappointed with the fish. It looked unappealing and didn't taste any better. The batter was soft and chewy. Pizza was cold and the meal was delivered 30 mins late.

Excellent offer on pizzas for 3 nights of the week. Best to phone order just to make sure they are open.

We usually get the food to go and every time we have done so we have been respected and cared for to the upmost degree. Along with this, the food is always fantastic and it’s fried to perfection. I definitely would recommend eating here.

Stayed locally recently and had takeaway from here twice. First time was a pizza that was dry and rather tasteless covered with fatty unseasoned meat. Give them a second chance the next night with Fish & Chips, tasteless, fatty batter, thin fish, beige chips. Not for me. Sorry.

Amazing fish and chips! And now ice cream too! Always fresh! And very friendly staff. Always worth a visit when in Queensferry.

just moved to my new apartment n had guests unexpectedly last night! tried this shop for the first time based on a friends recommendation, delivery was on time within the estimated time and food was done to perfection. defo will be back again at first chance.

Had a fish supper, out of this world prepared freshly which makes the fish batter crunchy and tasty had some ice cream too which was heavenly! Highly recommended!

Unimposing shop, friendly staff, huge piece of fresh fish battered and cooked on order. Varied menu with pizzas and calzones (that you could have haggis on!). Gelato for those with a sweet tooth. Sat out on a bench with an awesome water view and devoured some of the best fish we have tasted.

Io e il mio fidanzato, in vacanza in Scozia, l'ultima sera prima della partenza abbiamo deciso di prendere del cibo a portar via presso questo locale italiano. Il proprietario è stato di una gentilezza unica, così come i dipendenti. La pizza molto buona, davvero! Per la prima volta in vita mia ho assaggiato il kebab, che mi è stato offerto dal proprietario. Fantastico! Nel caso in cui dovessi tornare a Inverkeithing mi farebbe veramente molto piacere tornare a trovarli.Saluti dall'Italia :)

This has so many different cuisines that it is mind boggling. The service is great. I did not have to wait at all. I had the fish supper. Unless you are Desperate Dan I would share it! You get to large fish and enough chips to fee a small army. It was excellent.

Qui si può acquistare una buona pizza e si riesce a respirare aria italiana. Il proprietario e i ragazzi sono molto cortesi.L'unica pecca è il sale nel sugo della pizza.... un pò troppo, ma nel complesso... si può fare!!!

Hot food for 60 people delivered to Our Lady of Lourdes, Dunfermline. The food was hot and delicious. Everyone enjoyed the meal and no complaints. They gave us a great deal on the price. Would definitely recommend . Thank you very much.

Good chips, but the other bits ( chipsteak and whitepudding) were coldish and greasy Would maybe ask to get fresh made if i venture back in

Loved the fish & and chips from here. Fresh fish and chunky chips. Busy place. When you order a fish supper the staff should let the customer know that there are different sized suppers. We were automatically given large suppers without being asked & it would definitely be too much for some people as you get 2 fish. Great quality tho.

This is a fantastic shop selling lots of different types of take away food from Pizza to Kebabs and of course Fish and Chips. The portions are a great size and neither the fish or the chips were greasy. These were a lovely treat on a Friday night overlooking the Fourth and the bridges. Well worth a visit.

Bowled up after an excellent trip on Maid of the Forth by recommendation of the crew!! Not disappointed! Scampi, fries, tasty curry sauce, small fish and top class battered sausage. Not too pricey. Certainly not greasy. Busy place naturally but staff working flat out to serve quickly. Highly recommended.

This was local to where we were staying and I'd never had a doner kebab so...I had the mixwed kebab, in case I didn't like the doner. I didn't, but the shish and chicken parts were very nice.The chips were typical chip shop, but the place itself was buzzy, packed, lots of bustle, obviously popular locally. Service was good, with a smile, and prices reasonable.Huge selection of foods, from pizzas through kebabs to fish and chips.Portions simply humungous so excellent value.

Had a couple of takeaways from here. Lovely pizzas, son even had pizza with haggis on it! Good value for money.

After eating a plate of soup and bread locally, we decided to head for Maurizio's. The service was friendly and the place was spotless. The portion of freshly fried chips with brown sauce was shared buy two of us. We found a bench to sit on and ate our chips with a fantastic view of all the bridges over the Forth. We were lucky with the weather and there were lots of tourists visiting.

Consistently good chippy, everything off the menu is always very good. Reasonable prices. Fast delivery.

Very greasy fish and chips, fish very thin (3mm) they try to make up by giving you two, but my stomach couldn't take one.

Very hungry after a 3 hour boat trip to Inchcombe island. Fish Supper, small fish supper, and smokey sausage supper. The chips were firm and well done. Haddock fillets were fresh and the batter thin and crispy.When the first fish supper arrived I thought it was the large one but this turned out to be the children's one. Mine was 2 haddock fillets!Price was very good compared to what I am used to up in Aberdeen but that is typical.I'm very picky about fish and chips and Maurizio's is now on my approved list. Highly recommended.

Being right next to the shore, this town is beautiful and a chippy is exactly what you fancy near the water. We went here and it was over £6 for two bags of chips. We wouldn't have minded had they been good. They're charging tourist prices and not giving the quality to match. The chips were bland, overly oily and the condiments were sparse. Really gutted about this place.

for £7 you can buy a fish super that contains two battered fish and a large portion of chips which is phenomenal value. The battered fish was delicious as was the chips

Well all I can say is.. £9 for two bags of chips and two drinks!!!!!! I almost fell through the floor and even queried it with the rude guy behind the fryer. I could not believe how much they cost. As I had paid for them we ate them but I have to say they were really not the best chips and certainly not worth that money at all. Left half of them for the seagulls. Will not be using this place ever again and just wish I was brave enough to have asked for my money back as we could have got a lot more for our money in the other outlet down the road.. Now I know why the other place had such a queue and we got in this place so easily.Dont bother going here unless you dont mind being very ripped off.

They advertise 20% discount if you order via their Facebook app. We done that and places the order for £42.10. Not a bad size order!When I went to collect, they refused to apply the discount, claiming that because I had gone via Scoffable the discount was invalid and said that they have to give the discount to Scoffable rather than me.The guy was getting really aggressive so I just paid up and thought to chalk it up to experience.But when I got back I went on to their FB page again and followed the link to their website and guess what the link only goes onto this Scoffable site.Don't know what's going on there, but obviously wouldn't trust them with my business again.By the way the pizza was terrible as well.YOU HAVE BEEN WARNEDNext stop TRADING STANDARDS OFFICER

Best place for fish and chips in Queensferry , lovely staff friendly and welcoming. Would recommend going and having fish and chips.

Not an Italian person in sight, the new immigrant establishment run on a shoe-string with tasteless cheap food at over the top prices. Girl serving was very nice, guy with the big jaw behind the counter frying the crap, who looked like the boss, was rude to the staff working there and obviously has learnt with 'trial and error' and still cant get things right. The other chippy along the road is no better... very low quality food with high prices and rude staff. AVOID AT ALL COST - Best get a proper chippy from a traditional Italian run establishment would be my advice.

The take away service and food was excellent,delivered on time.this was the first time we have had a take away from a fish and chip shop.

The pictured Maurizio is actually Maurizio 3 and has great fish and chips. And a small variety of other dishes. All deep fried. I only had the fish and chips. Portions are huge. Small is plenty. Nicely battered haddock. Also a good selection of ice cream. No sugar free though.The other Maurizio is at the other end of town and has a wide selection of kebabs and pizzas. All food is very tasty and the staff at both locations is very friendly.

We got a very nice welcome here, the staff very pleased to see you. There is a fantastic range of food on offer, it is delicious too! You can tell that the staff are experts in preparation and presentation.I have to say it is well worth the visit and as an added bonus you can see the famous three bridges across the river Forth while you enjoy your fabulous food.Can hardly wait to go back, maybe see you there!

Tried it for the first time since it reopened under new management. I read the one and only other review and sympathise with that customer.However our experience was the exact opposite. We thought the fish & chips were excellent. Friendly service included at no extra charge.The portions not cheap but are fresh and good quality and huge too. We would definitely go back and and recommend this excellent chippy to anyone.Just even drive past and look at the happy faces of the customers dining inside at the window.Certainly one of the best chip shops in Scotland!.

Saw this local fish shop on the way to Harry Ramsdens & thought we would support local enterprise. Ordered 2 fish meals, 1 was OK but the other was obviously overcooked or had been kept hot after cooking and the fish had dried to a small tough limp. We pointed this out & were told it was Ok.....and they continued to argue the point for 5 mins. Could live with being unlucky with the fish but Not with this type of customer relations !

Located a short walk away from the harbour in South Queensferry this chip shop offers most Scottish chip shop favourites and an extensive pizza menu.Service can be slow on busy nights due to demand, but every time I have eaten there it has been very enjoyable.It has some outdoor seating, but no indoor as it's primary business is takeaway.
