German Doner Kebab in Edinburgh, City of

Don’t trust cons— paying nearly £50 and getting nothing in return is unacceptable, especially when the delivery time kept changing and I was forced to make other arrangements and go pick the food from somewhere else.

Ordered many times by delivery these years but first time writing the review. Me and many of my friends said the same that their beef just doesn’t taste like beef but overall it’s still tasty, and the chicken doner is always delicious - I always choose mix. No matter which form/category you choose to order, the content and the ingredients are all the same; so they are all the same tasty all the way through. Thanks GDK. And another thumb up for the packaging, being beautiful and clean. I also love the yoghurt sauce and the chilli sauce/spicy here - they mix chillis with black pepper powder! Amazing! Overall, highly recommend. Worth the price.

Guys, my recommendation is: go to Berlin, try kebab and then - when you know what's what - do it right. For now, it's not enough to get more then ** from me. Sorry, it's a NO.

For the third time out of our three attempts, our order had food and drinks missing. Sauces were not added nor the extra meat requested. On calling, after a long wait, we were offered a refund for the food that never arrived?! In whose world is that compensation? Of course we shouldn't pay for stuff we never got. It was bland, lacking meat and cold. Never again. We'll support the independents in future, as you should if you want decent food and service.

Only giving 1 star because I can’t give 0. Had me wait 2 and a half hours for a delivery to be told on the phone that it’s been cancelled. Then had the cheek to tell me to order again so I can get fresh food. My kids weren’t hungry anyway, bams.

Getting worse every single time I'm coming in. Horrible service, no table service, order was wrong so had to wait longer for food, portions smaller and more expensive again.

I went to the store today. The service was very good. The staffs there Rohith and Deva did great job.

Extremely angry at the staff, especially ALI 😡😡😡😡 . Made an order online. When I got there, I had to use the bathroom as I'm 7 months pregnant , on my out , the worker embarrassed me in front of everyone telling me I should of not used the bathroom as they were reserved for customers only !! Even i was a customer, and 7 months pregnant . I gave him my order name telling him so he could verify my order and told him I was pregnant even it's obvious when you are in your 7th month. I got so embarrassed and upset that I decided not to take the food and walked out . My husband went in to speak to a manager, but they told him no manager was in . My husband asked for an explanation from Ali and all what he said was " i didn't know she was pregnant " SHAME SHAME SHAME . I'm telling you at the beginning not to tell me that these are not your standards because these standards have been maintained for over a year in this place!!! Dirt, filth, manure!!!!!!! The walls are greasy and full of dust, everything is greasy and dusty, the floor is awful. It looks like no one has cleaned it for a dozen or so months. I wonder how it is possible that when eating there you get cold food. The meat inside is cold. People are not pigs so they don't like to eat in a pigsty

Second time trying to use this place (first time got told they were closed at 22:45) there at 22:00 this time and used the self service till and ordered to eat sitting in, loads of empty tables, and got told 20mins later once order was ready that it was take away only, no eating in even though there were some people had just left from eating in. Chips were cold, juice was warm, kebab was average. A generally disappointing dining experience with quite disinterested staff (one star for service and atmosphere as minus values are not available). Won’t be back.

Very big but empty restaurant like for Sunday 6pm. For me Kebab means meat. Unfortunately majority of my OG kebab was a salad. Food was tasty but I wish to have more meat for this price.

No matter which country or branch of German Doner Kebab I visit, I always leave with the same level of satisfaction. Their doner kebabs are consistently cooked to perfection—neither undercooked nor burnt, just the right balance. The seasoning and fat content are spot on, delivering a flavourful experience every time.  The ambiance in their restaurants is inviting, and the staff are always friendly, which seems to be a hallmark of their service. We recently visited their location in Edinburgh and, once again, were thoroughly pleased with our experience. Thank you for maintaining such high standards across all your branches.

En realidad estoy horrorizado por el servicio y la calidad de este lugar. Ambos tomamos un kebab y un lado con una bebida - que llega a 43 libras, que es un dinero loco para un kebab. La carne estaba seca. Los dos pedimos chapuzones extra y mis novios vinieron con ellos y el mío vino sin ellos. Cuando fui a preguntar la mujer dijo que el mío ya estaba dentro del kebab. No me dio una hora del día aunque no estaba ocupado. Mi novio entonces tuvo un estómago muy molesto durante unos días después de comer este kebab, y dijo que nunca volverá a pisar los kebabs alemanes Doner. Esta mañana recibo un correo electrónico de Google que dice que los doner kebabs alemanes filtraron todos mis datos personales, incluida la dirección de mi casa a la web oscura. Estoy sin palabras. Muy muy muy molesto. Nunca volveré aquí y ahora mis datos son públicos para los estafadores.

I'm actually appalled by the service and quality of this place. We both taken a kebab and a side with a drink - it come up to £43 which is crazy money for a kebab. The meat was dry. We both ordered extra dips and my boyfriends ones came with and mine came without. When I went to enquire woman said mine was already inside the kebab. She didn't give me a time of day although it wasn't busy. My boyfriend then had a very upset stomach for a whole few days after eating this kebab, and said he will never step his foot again in German Doner kebabs. This morning I get an email from Google that German doner kebabs leaked all my personal details, including home address to the dark web. I'm speechless. Very very very upset. Never ever will I be coming here and now my details are public for scammers.

Visited gdk in dundee,Stirling both were amazing But this one terrible noisy delivery drivers being served before sit in customers my food was average my partners was rubbish hardly any filling in bread tasteless will definitely not be back to this one

Literally obsessed with their chicken wrap and their gym box (sooooo hard to find a healthy meal/big salad in Edi)! Have only ordered delivery but glad I finally found this place after several years living here.

We are very regular here but unfortunately one of the portions was literally less than 50% than others. We will be back but they should consider this carefully. Thanks

Trying to order OG Kebab on deliveeoo. Says sold out. Called to ask if it will be back up before closed. Guy over the phone said its available.. deliveroo still says otherwise. Not that I'm hangry and petty just wanna say stop lying lol.

Freezing food and chaotic service. Obvious preference given to delivery riders, but there was confusion at each stage. My order was opened by the despatch lad and examined, then scrunched shut and left, whilst other order were made. Really rubbish service

The content for the veggie kebab was replaced with potato tots, with no warning or phone call about items being unavailable. False advertisement and poor value for the money.

Dicked mate, chicken kebab was basically a mix of fat and the paper its served in, homeless bossman was squaring up to the staff, receipt machine was spitting bare receipts about the gaff, and they had fake weep vents... Absolutely Shocking!

Venimos aquí para un regalo de cumpleaños. Hicimos la orden de camino al restaurante para que pudiéramos recoger. Primero nos dijeron que no había opción de carne de res, luego nos dijeron que no tenían bocados de queso de chile en nuestro pedido también, así que después de volver a hacer nuestro pedido tuvimos que esperar de todos modos a que se hiciera, el personal muy educado, la comida muy promedio, volvería... ... no.

Disappointing Experience I used to enjoy the service here but unfortunately, this is the second time in a row that the experience has been disappointing. Despite the restaurant not being very busy, the customer service was very poor. I had to wait 25 minutes just to place my order because the girl at the till was clearly new and struggling. The manager/supervisor was present but seemed careless and uninterested even as the queue grew longer. On a previous visit, I was served cold food. When I brought it to the manager’s attention, he refused to acknowledge the issue. I chose not to leave a bad review then because I thought it might have been a one-off. However today’s experience was even worse. I hope the management takes steps to improve their service and customer care. It’s disappointing to see the quality drop like this.

Amazing experience Basically I’m from london and last week i visited edinburgh and i went this gdk and I got good service and also food as well. But most important thing i forgot my airpods on the table and i left the restaurant and after travelling 150 miles away i realised that i forgot my airpods i called at restaurant and the guy akhil helped me out he delt very nicely and said don’t worry i will send it by post and next day he sent it as well . I am very appreciate for his kind gesture Thank you akhil .

the box was good, plenty of chicken and very delicious. but the va vegan doner kebab has very little of the vegan doner and what is there is almost impossible to chew, which is very disappointing. would probably be decent if it wasnt rock hard 🤷‍♂️

I would not order from just eat again. Order was wrong. Fair enough mistakes are made but trying to get refund from just eat especially to my actual bank card I paid it from and not to just eat account is impossible. Against uk consumer law at that. Also given messed up whole order expect refund of service and delivery fees given poor service. Having to go through my bank to seek compensation. Don’t use just eat. German Donar kebab when order is correct are great though. Just eat let side down

Buena comida. Grandes porciones, buen precio para lo que se obtiene. Puede estar ocupado, sin embargo, no esperamos mucho tiempo para la comida. Food was amazing and good service

Ridiculous service salaad had a hair in the person who served me was very rude arrogant. I will be reporting them to environment health edinburgh. Will never use this establishment again. Shame on them it's a disgrace. I will be reporting them to my uncle surwar who's this German donor kebab boss. Shane on the management.

Awful service from Rashid. Very rude. Painfully slow service in one of the worst GDK branches. The lady serving was also slow and rude. The branch is dirty and I would not recommend.

I had to change my opinion as I went there again recently, and I must say quality of food and service had declined a lot, firstly when I was trying to order I had to repeat my order 5 times and despite me repeating few times to the person serving, he wasn't able to take the order correctly, and once realised that requested to amend the order to correct item at this moment the person without any word just went out back to the kitchen and I had to wait for next waiter to come to confirm order and take payment. Secondly they did not have chicken as it was not to long to closing time so this is understandable that it has finished, so I had to order beef kebab with cheese fries and I must say it was one of the worst food I ever had, after eating half of the kebab I felt sick on my stomach, my partner ordered vegetarian option and also had to leave half of the food, definitely I do not recommend this venue to grab a food on the go. Unless you wish to spend evening in the loo.

So much quicker delivery when through just eat than direct through GDK app and Uber who deliver to 20 other places before getting to you.

I pre-ordered the food for 11:40 and it was delivered at 12:45! If the restaurant does not have capacity to cook in time then please let the customer know because it is not nice to wait more than an hour for a lunch as I have other stuff to do not only to stay at home and to wait! This is ridiculous!

The worst kebab I’ve ever had. In the box, the meat was dry with literally just a few thin slices, plus nearly raw fries. I’ll never eat anything from this place again. For that price, you can get much better food elsewhere.

Lower rating as I was a bit dissapoited with service (but what expect from chain restaurant...) and kebab wrap by itself. Its definitely not my taste. It was more like fitness kebab with fresh vegs and dry chicken and donner meet. I like more meety kebab, rich in spicy and garlic souse. This one is perfect for a lunch or brunch on your office brake. Not too heavy for stomach. Our test you can find soon on our chanel ChippyKings on YT.

Not happy! I was running late to pick up my order and when I arrived 5 minutes after pick up I was told it would be 5-10 minutes. I watched the staff be unorganised and get orders in front of me mixed up. I waited 20 minutes until I asked again where I was then giving a bag that was on the shelve for 5/10 minutes yet my name or order number had not been called. My food was barely hot

DO NOT GET DELIVERY. Every single takeout order they fulfill is undercooked, half the portion size, and will ignore any dietary requirements! Hands down the worst installment of GDK in Edinburgh.

The food could have been good, but it was spoiled by the fact that I had to wait 20 minutes for my lunch, which in itself is not much if everyone else was not served in the meantime, but they forgot my order and I didn't even get an apology.

After loved the taste of German Doner Kebab in London, we tried the wrap in this branch in our Edinburgh trip. But the result was horrible. We had dyspepsia after eating here, an I even had a diarrhea. At the end I couldn't sleep the following night. I definitely don't recommend at all!

First GDK trial ever, and the overall performance was sub-par. I walked in on a dispute between chef and waitress. This escalated quickly into an argument (2 people arguing turned into 3 getting quite loud). I ignored this confrontation, ordered a meal on the digital screen, and still no acknowledgement of my existence. Food was prepared pretty fast, it was the £13.99 gym box. I was presented with a closed box. No confirmation, no thank you, no ‘would you like to confirm the selection’. So I asked to check the contents. I had ordered the famous chilli fries, it seems someone had neglected to sprinkle the ‘special spice’. I asked this item to be replaced. Instead, it was then OVERLY seasoned (exaggeratedly) rendering untouchable. I sat down to eat my meal and the spring rolls were too cold. So I disposed of them immediately and proceeded to the og beef kebab. This was colder than the spring rolls, smothered unnecessarily with excess sauce which I assume assisted, if not caused, the rapid temperature decline. Two bites in, and that was also thrown away as it was inedible. The only thing I enjoyed from the whole experience was the can of 7-up. Won’t be returning to any location anytime soon, won’t be recommending it to friends or family either. A BIG thumbs down from me.

Food was cold. Doner box was sent in a triangle container and the amount of foos was not the same as when it comes in the box. Doner panini was supposed to have extra cheese and the cheese was nearly non existant

I ordered an OG Kebab and selected no onion and no red cabbage and I received just the bread and the meat no tomato and no lettuce even though it’s included in the meal, I tried to speak to justeat to no avail.

No complaints, tasty and filling fast food. Very polite and efficient staff. I usually go to the Glasgow location, I was pleased that the consistency and quality was the same in the Edinburgh branch, as this can't always be guaranteed with chain restaurants. I would recommend the OG kebab, the waffle bread is unreal and the spicy and garlic dips are brilliant.

Located inside wavery station in Edinburgh. Takeaway and eat in is available. Ordered a vegan option meal. Price reasonable with portion. Tastes nice.

our food was ordered for 5pm and it came at 6:30pm which i was really dissapointed about because one of my households had to go on his nightshift and since the food so late that my household had to leave before the food came. absolutly dissapointed.
