Came here with my partner on a Friday night. We ordered the mixed antipasti board to share as a starter, then 2 x pizzas (one with anchovies and capers, the other with gorgonzola and giancale). We were a bit disappointed with the antipasti - it was expensive and could have done with some olives, relish, etc. But the pizzas were amazing! Thin and crispy and so much flavour in the toppings. I would go as far as to say they were the best pizzas we’ve had in Cambridge. Overall it was a lovely evening and wouldn’t hesitate to eat here again in future.

Honestly the most amazing pizzas in the world. Hand made my an Italian family the traditional way. The Lord Orla pizza ( anchovies, spicy relish , blue cheese and olives ) is simply a masterpiece. And wines all very reasonable and tasty

Last night I went to Maurizios for an evening event with music and drinks. The night started well I bought a number of drinks and me and my friends were having a good time. Later in the evening the owner/Mum of the business came up to me and was like “who are you?! Why are you here”. And asked me to leave which I said I would straight away. As I was waiting she proceeded to be really rude and start talking to other guests behind my back and pointing… My friend was in the toilet and I just waiting for her and then leaving. The whole family then became really hostile as we were leaving, baring in mind we had done NOTHING wrong and had been good guests all night, and bought lots of drinks. As I left 2 guys from the event tried to fight me and intimidate me. Which was super scary. They also chased another of my friends down the road and hit him, he now has ice on his face and arm?!?! The whole family are cracked out and super rude. The pizza is good, it’s just a shame the restaurant is ran by the wannabe Mafia. 1/5 don’t go unless you wna get intimidated, spoken about and beat up. EDIT: I didn’t use ANY foul language and I didn’t knock anything off your counter. I was nothing but respectful to everyone. The crazy mother/owner is super toxic and riled everyone up for no reason. The only reason I refused to leave was because I was trying to get my friend out the toilet and obviously wasn’t going to leave her in the establishment with a bunch of psychos. My friend is filing a police report after being assaulted. Well done! EDIT 2.0: “we didn’t expect so much drama” the drama was instigated by your staff so I don’t see how it was unexpected. It’s lovely to see you being so professional online! A shame your staff are not like that in person after a couple of drinks.

The owner of the restaurant was rather rude to a group of people, who seemed to be part of a performance, she was also rude to me and my friend. We were asked to leave very abruptly, to what no-one seemed to offer resistance, and pushed while we were gathering and picking up our coats and belongings, while being intimidated by a group of individuals who seemed to be family/staff/regulars, I don’t know, but they appeared to be permitted to stay after the bar was being emptied. They definitely had the complicity of the owner. She however, motivated these youngsters to be openly aggressive in the premises, to the remaining customers, including me and and my friends. She definitely did nothing to stop it happening. I must said I didn’t hear any foul language or witness aggressive behaviour from any of the customers but I did from the staff. The people who had previously been threatening us were then prompted to chase some people in the street after they left from the door. At this point we left as they started shouting at us and we feared for ourselves. But didn’t know until now someone actually got assaulted, I’m appalled by it. I suppose this is part of their policy on ‘We don’t condone any form of violence and equally we’re not responsible for what happens once you’ve left the premises’ but will shout from the door while our staff/family/regulars beat you up. The guys, who were incredibly drunk, were clearly allowed by the owner to be threatening. It was my first time there and I must say that it was scariest night I ever had in Cambridge! The response given by the owner seems incredibly cynical when someone got physically assaulted. Independently of what could had happened earlier. Awful behaviour.

Buonissimo! Leave convention behind and enjoy a genuine Italian experience. This is not a restaurant - it is an Apertivo bar which means you drink as much as you eat and you take a long time over it. There will be a few home cooked main courses, but sharing a number of 'planks' is a much better way to enjoy the excellent selection of Italian wines. Maurizio is a great host.

We were offered a welcoming short wine tasting by a brilliant young sommelier and learned about four new-to-us wines! This was free! We then started with the friarelli -- a dish I've only ever had in Italy -- turnip greens sautéed in olive oil and garlic -- fresh and delicious. Next was the pappardelle with country mushrooms and Tuscan sausage in a cream sauce -- velvety and unctuous! The 'Lord Orly' pizza with a thin, crispy crust, spicy n'juda tomato sauce, anchovies and olives might be one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten (although I tried the Larda Bianca and that is also delicious!) Our Barolo wine, a Valipocelli was a very wise choice (sommelier advice) to accompany the pizza -- it was strong, with a balance of tannins and dark fruit. We ended with the dessert 'Nutella Bella' with chocolate hazelnut spread generously across the pizza dough. The service was warm and friendly, the Patron, Maurizio, was welcoming and the atmosphere genial. I think Maurizio's is my new favourite Cambridge restaurant!

The food was great just like the atmosphere. The atmosphere could be a bit more Authentic Italian but overall a good vibe. For the pizza’s there weren’t many options I fancied but they have a large selection of pizza’s and some pasta’s aswell. Dessert was awesome aswell and we even got limoncello on the house (they do it almost all the time so give it a try). But where this restaurant really shines is the helpfulness and the friendliness of the staff. We mainly got served by Lisa and we had such an amazing conversation and she had the best energy I ever felt. She was the sweetest and treated you with upmost care and basically like family. We came as a group of friends and the service was super friendly until we'd ordered when it disappeared. The food took quite some time and we were all really hungry when the first plates appeared. Everyone at the table got their dishes and I was told that my pizza would be there presently. One of our numbers had finished their dish when my pizza finally arrived. It didn't have extra mushrooms as ordered but I was too hungry to make it a thing. I took a photo after one slice - no shrooms. After the main, we ordered two puddings to share and that's when a really pervasive sewage stench started wafting over. The waiter got us a candle after we mentioned it but it didn't help and we left pretty quickly after dessert because that stench was overpowering - the tiramisu was nice but it was accompanied by l'eau résiduelle which cut into the enjoyment. There was some confusion about the bill, luckily one of us had calculated very well so we didn't agree to overpay. That said I paid the extra mushrooms that never made it onto my long awaited pizza because I just wanted to leave. Pity, this started out so promising and fizzled out into smelly confused disappointment.

Excellent Service, Authentic Pizza…. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by staff, and throughout the meal, Lois our server, provided top-notch customer service. She was incredibly attentive, always making sure we had everything we needed and ensuring our dining experience was perfect. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the pizza. It transported me back to Italy with its authentic taste and flavour. The secret, I believe, lies in the fresh ingredients they use, which make every bite a burst of deliciousness. I am already craving another visit to savour that mouth-watering pizza again!. The only minor inconvenience we encountered was the lack of an on-site car park, as the restaurant is situated in the high street. However, this was quickly resolved as we discovered off-street and other nearby lanes offering convenient parking options.

To sum up: - pricey pizzas: £18+ for a Regina (when you add the service charge at the end). - pizzas are big, but they taste OK-ish. - service is awful, long waiting time and pressure to buy drinks - CHECK YOUR BILL, they added a dodgy £6 item in ours. Long story: The atmosphere is quite there, you really feel like you're not in Cambridge anymore, which is really nice. The pizzas have a medium thin crust, the tomato base is good. But I found that the ingredients were scarce. They could have easily doubled the amount of onions and beef on my beef pizza, and they could have added easily 30% more cheese. Overall, they are OK-ish, they fall flat a bit. The size of the pizza however, is surprisingly big, which is a good point I guess. I'm being picky on the ingredients because of the insame prices of the pizzas. When you add up the service charge (not included in the prices on the menu), the regina pizza is more than £18 to give you an example. And the service is 😞 awful. We were pressured to order drinks, pressured to order fast. We have waited about 1h on our table before having the pizzas served. And finally, please, CHECK YOUR BILLS! They have added a dodgy £6 item that we did not order in the bill!! 🚨 Then they assume that you will tip them at the end, on top of the service charge, so ask to be charged the right exact amount on your card!

Simply excellent! The pizza was the best I have eaten in the UK so far. The tomato sauce is not the standard British sauce (which tastes horribly in a pizza), they prepare it freshly every day and one (at least, an italian person ;)) can really taste the difference. The dough is also well prepared. The tiramisù was the best I have ever eaten! Although I was already super full after the pizza, I don't regret that I ordered it! First the feeling of this unsual restaurant is good : you part of a big family, good vibes are coming to you… decoration makes you feeling you are in a sort of family house. Then it comes time to eat and drink. And that’s when everything gets less nice - let’s say it. Tortelloni on menu become tortellini in the plate, and thankfully the tomato sauce was amazing - the totelini were about being well cooked and the feeling tasteless-, service has been long- which is ok on busy nights and then the plates have been taken away before being emptied ! You need to eat fast !! Next we have been told to vacate the table … no dessert no coffee no anything ! Despite not being treated well by the staff (because of rules nothing personal i Am Sure ) the good vibes work in Cambridge as the place was full. But thé magic confort atmosphère should not excuse everything. I would not recommend the place over all

All portions were very good sizes and phenomenally tasty! We had a couple of cocktails and washed it all down with a huge portion of Tiramasu and a sweet wine. We would highly recommend the pizza bianca options and all the pastas! The family-recipe tomato base sauce was possibly one of the nicest I've ever tasted. Will definitely return in the future!

This place is amazing and the owner is wonderful. Such attention to detail and ensuring that we ordered the right amount of starters / mains. Recommended good wines for each course. The pasta / pizzas are all fresh and delicious. This place is a must and we will return soon. Akashi was great serving us. Thank you

Generally staff are good but disappointing quality of food for price. Very small portion of basic pasta (tomato salsa and chilli sauce) for £13.5. Small coke for £4. Service is charged £3.68.

We had a lovely meal here just before Christmas. The pizzas were delicious and so was the home made tiramisu! But best of all was the atmosphere and our friendly waiter. Will definitely be back in 2023!

I don't usually like to leave negative reviews for businesses, but on this occasion, I feel I was left with no choice (also noting the fact the owner (a 6.5ft angry Italian male) of the restaurant was goading me to 'leave a review, as it's the only way to justify your behaviour - go on f%*k off, f&*k off', as he physically pushed me out of the restaurant. We, 3 ladies arrived at Maurizio's for a dinner booking at 7:30 pm, which it turned out we had booked for the wrong date - our mistake - but the manager was happy to accommodate us and led us to the back room which at that time was empty of other customers. Good start, place seemed nice (first time there, smelled lovely, nice atmosphere). After waiting about 10 minutes we asked the manager if we could order, which he took without writing it down. Didn't think too much of this as it was reasonably quiet with no other customers in the back room. After a while another table of 3 arrived and also a larger group sat behind us. When we noticed the table who arrived after us by at least 15 minutes had been given their food, but ours had not arrived we asked if everything was ok. Then swiftly our bowl of olives arrived (starter). A few minutes later the owner (male) was mooching around the tables talking to the waitresses clearly trying to fathom out which table was which (he asked us if we were table XX, lifting up the numbered wooden spoon with that number on', we obviously assumed that be the case seeing as it's the table number his manager left when ordering our food...?) At around 8:30, still no food had arrived. I asked the waitress if everything was ok with our order, which she replied - 'yes your food is fine'. I mentioned noticing the staff seemingly confused about table orders but she seemed unconcerned about this. At 8:45, the chef came to our table and told us that our order had in fact not been placed (probably due to the fact the manager hadn't written it down when taking our order). We told them that one of our group had to leave at 9 so clearly this was a bit of a pain as we had asked on 2 occasions about our food, to be told all was in hand. Then to find out that we had to start the order again and my friend had to rush her meal. At this point, my friend said "are you serious" to the manager, who responded "don't blame me" and walked off. The owner (female) came over and apologised for the issue, and asked what they could do by way of apology. Gratefully we asked for a bottle of the Montepulciano, as it was what we had already bought and paid for, and wanted to enjoy with our meal (bearing on mind over an hour later the bottle we brought to have with our meal had been drunk). she was reluctant and offered us a bottle of house, which as we weren't drinking their house wine, we requested a bottle of what we had selected. She did bring that, which was great. At this stage another bowl of olives arrived (still no food!). Clearly another mix up in the kitchen. At 9:00pm our food arrived. The pizza was nice, although the olives were not pitted (which seemed odd as the whole bowl of olives for the starter were all pitted), so one took me by surprise. The spaghetti bolognaise was unfortunately not well presented and wasn't overly tasty, and the other pasta dish, was not al dente, it was uncooked. Even though they knew we had these issues and we made it clear our friend was due to leave at 9, none of the staff checked in on us after the food had been given - as you would usually expect someone to do, especially if there had been any issues. The owner (female) came back to offer us the bill, when we mentioned the uncooked pasta dish - she didn't seem to take it well (no response, other than grabbing the plate off the table and walking away with it). She then came back with the bill and had "taken off the pasta dish because we didn't like it" (no apology - she seemed to have had enough of us!). I looked at the bill and noticed a 10% service charge was automatically added - remember folks, it's discretionary to pay a service charge in the UK, if you feel the service has been good enough to deserve it! - I asked her to remove the service charge and this is when it all got really bizarre. although seemingly quite a timid lady, she physically recoiled in disgust at the request and quite stroppily started to rant at me about 'what more can we do, we are a small business etc etc. I tried to remind her that one of the waiters had been quite rude to one of our table members, but she kept talking over me. she started saying 'don't come back here again', which i replied 'don't worry I won't be'. I couldn't actually get a sentence out without her talking over me, but she started to say that my aggression was making her shake and that she just wanted to get us out. I was not being aggressive, just trying to justify my request to remove the discretionary service charge as we were not happy with the whole experience. Yes they gave us a bottle of wine to apologise, but that didn't solve all the problems and more followed. Anyway, we finally paid the bill (without service charge) and went to leave. On the way out all the staff were gathered around the front entrance. The manager, who took our order in the first place and who had been a bit rude in his response to one of our table, gave me a broad smile and said "have a nice evening". To which I just said, calmly, "you should have come back and sorted the issue yourself, that would have made things better from our perspective". I then notice the male owner, is coming towards me and is clearly very angry. His wife (i presume) must have suggested we were being aggressive to her (which we were not - there was no scene made at the table), so he started shouting obscenities at me, telling me to "F off out of our restaurant, go on, F off. and leave us a bad review on Trip advisor, it's the only way to justify your behaviour, go on F off". I was honestly confused but his strange (but clearly sarcastic) suggestion to leave a negative review, so asked him what he meant, at which point he physically grabbed me, spun me around and started quite heavy handedly man-handling me out of the door. I nearly slipped on the floor whilst he pushed me and was so shocked to turn around to see him being restrained by his wife and other staff members whilst he continued to shout obscenities at me. His wife then ushered me out the door and that was the end of it. I honestly cannot believe we experienced this. It was the most bizarre and terrible experience at a restaurant I have ever had. I fully expect the owner to reply to this review with some comment or suggestion that we caused the whole thing - but looking at some of the other reviews on here (out of approx. 100 reviews, 20 of which are either poor or terrible), there seems to be a theme occurring. A business that: 1) Seems to think spouting you are a small business is enough to justify poor service and poor-quality food 2) has owners who seem unable and unwilling to recognise their businesses faults 3) and are unwilling to respond to feedback from their customers without sarcastically goading them to leave a poor review (I have read the same thing in at least one other review) Someone else mentioned likening the place to Faulty Towers. I would agree, but also think they need to contact Gordon Ramsey's Hell's Kitchen... Never again...

One word- terrible. Firstly when we arrived we waited 10 minutes to be seated. No one acknowledged us. We then had our order taken after 20 mins of waiting at table, by a waiter who just "memorised" what we wanted! We thought this was odd....

I've left several Google reviews in the past few years, often claiming that the food is great. But wow, I feel like I need to alter stars on other reviews as never have I been to somewhere so welcoming and experienced the most incredible food. From the minute we entered the restaurant, Maurizio was so welcoming and took time to come and chat to us even though we later learnt that he spends time in the kitchen too. He introduced us to his homemade tomato sauce and chilli relish about 3 minutes after stepping through the door. I actually felt as though I was visiting family, I was made to feel so comfortable. We chose bruschetta and the dirty bread for starters. I would never in a million years chosen the dirty bread, but Maurizio sold it so well with the homemade tomato sauce and chilli relish - no regrets, would highly recommend. The special of the day was tortellini in the homemade tomato sauce, which my partner opted for and I went for an 'easy cheasy' with mushrooms and olives - both fantastic and very tasty. To top it all off we couldn't leave without trying the chocolate salame (homemade, of course - there's a running theme here!), Which was outstanding! To Maurizio, your partner and your team... We had such a wonderful evening and when next in the area we will be sure to return. The photos really do not do this food justice. P.s. the new team are doing just great 😊

Welcome back to R&H's crazy food reviews. This time we espressoed our interest in Italian cuisine by heading to Maurizio Dining & Co. The ambiance was perfect, with candle lit tables and a rustic atmosphere. The service was decent but we found ourselves waiting on drinks and the bill. The food was decently priced for Cambridge, with a pepperoni pizza costing us £14. Finally, the food was fine but nothing particularly amazing, wouldn't recommend it to pizza fans. Until next time, Pasta la Vista.

After waiting nearly an hour to be served cold pasta on cold plates, I approached the owner to ask how much longer we had to wait and if the plates would be warm! He became very abusive, swearing and ordered us to leave. I am 71yrs old and never have I been treated like this. So glad we never need to return!
