The best fish & chip shop in Stockport, the quality and tast of the chips are amazing, a good range of food from the menu. Everything we buy from Matt's Place is spot on for taste and quality, we would highly recommend anyone Matt's Place to everyone.

Brilliant chippy - best fish and chips in tameside!

Just moved into the area so looking for a good chippy, tried a few and I think I've found it here. Good quality and quantity at a reasonable price. Chips are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Nicely cooked fish and decent pies.

Best fish and chips around!!! I don't really enjoy chippy, and am very fussy with fish. We drive past here often and always see a queue out the door. We decided to try it.... Won't go anywhere else now. If you've not tried here..... You need too!!

I've started working nights near by and been stopping here for breakfast (6pm) And before you say its not the best breakfast idea!!! Who wouldn't want homemade cheese and onion pie, chips and beans for breakfast?? Especially when it tastes as good as it does!! The food here is amazing. I had a fish barm tonight and its the best fish I've had in a chippy in years!! The girls who serve are really nice, polite and friendly. And matt who cooks, knows what he's doing!!! If your reading this thinking should I go?? YES!!! You will be happy I promise you!!!

I work all over the north west and this was definitely up there as one of the best haddock and chips I've had

My young daughter and I were famished after band rehearsals so we popped in here on the spur of the moment. We shared a large chips and they were delicious - piping hot and really tasty. I've never been offered a choice of mild or hot curry sauce in a chippy and the mild option was great - classic taste and again piping hot. Perfect comfort food for a busy day.

Don't know why we've never eaten from here before as passed it loads and sat in car waiting for kids to come from school. But now have had first take away and we'll definitely be back. Proper fresh fish, not frozen.

The thing Matt's Plaice has is quality. OK recent purchase was fish, chips, gravy over £7. I thought that was a lot, however as everywhere else will oil prices and that and for the quality it's now reasonable. Somewhere close is now charging £5.40 for one choice of fish only , on it's own. Only negative is i expected Hake to be more less expensive than 50p

Chicken Madras with Chips is superb, Homemade, just make sure you are very specific with telephone orders, can get very busy at Tea Time.

13/06/2022. Ordered fish chips and peas, normally anyone with common sense asks you do you want them separate or all together. Not knowing whose order the girl was wrapping. Got home and discovered she poured rhe peas over all the chips which looked like the meal was involved in a car crash, straight in the bin. Had toast instead.

Can't be bothered to update their opening times on social media. I avoid at all costs lazy people as if somone is to lazy to spend 30 seconds updating the most important information about their company, then imagine how lazy they are in food hygiene.

For whatever reason the chips are not good. Bredbury fish bar make better and fresher chips. Matts has slipped since covid. They are re-heated chips full of black bits.

We buy our Fish and Chips here and go to Etherow Country Park to eat them. We do this 2 to 3 times a week. In my opinion this is the best chippy by far in the area, and we have tried most of them. Pies are good aswell.

This place does classic fish and chips which is always very tasty and done well, its busy so there can be a bit of a wait, plenty of alternatives too, and some specials which are good. Its not an eat in place, but its packed well and stays hot. Decently priced too.

I had not been to this chippy for a fair while. They have a extensive menu with a range of traditional english fish and chip meals, pies, fish and other dishes.I had fish and chips I presume cod. It was fairly tasty and a decent portion, with a not to heavy crisp batter. The chips were chunky and fairly well cooked. Curry sauce I had was meant to be spicy and did not really taste spicy at all.Overall a good experience. Pleasant staff from this takeaway fish and chip shop.

Cracking chippy, good selection

We used to go to Fletcher's in Romiley as our local but sadly that's closed down now. I had seen big queues outside Matt's Plaice so I thought I would give that a go as a replacement. I'm very glad I did! The chips were decent... freshly cooked, piping hot, and tasty. My wife enjoyed her mushy peas. For 2 fish, 1 chips, and 1 mushy peas it came to £9.90 which seems reasonable. Especially as the fish was absolutely superb! Decent size, nice and meaty, full of flavour, and the batter was like a fine coating... no massive crispy air bubbles, just a close fitting tasty covering that worked wonders with the fish. Will definitely be going back again!!

We had been looking for a decent fish & chip shop since moving to the area. We found Matt's Plaice on google and thought we would give it a try. We have been twice now & the queue has been out of the door. Always a good sign. The food is delicious from here and they also have a very good menu, with weekly offers aswell. Great choice. Staff are friendly and food reasonably priced. Will use here from now on.

Could you please change the opening times on your website. Said it was open until 9pm. I go down at 7 and its closed. I will never get those 10 minutes back driving because of ypur misleading information.

The food here is always freshly prepared and first class. I have been a customer here since I was a lad and in the scouts. You can tell that it is a first class chippy as you often have to wait outside. Matt could do with extending into the hairdressers next door. Parking can be a problem at peak times. Definitely the best chippy in Bredbury.

Great chippy. Lovely food and great offers. Went back again and the old lady was slightly rude to what seems to be a new member of staff. Please pass this on to her, as I would not like to see people treated this way. Food was lovely though.
