cooked really well and tastes amazing. the spicy curry is sweeter than most so I left that but everything else i ordered was tasty

We had to wait for over 90 minutes for the food and once it arrived the food was cold.

Driver seems to have been sent to incorrect postcode initially.

Fish as always was fabulous but the chips let them down tonight! Also couldn’t be bothered to butter the barms which is unusual. Still enjoyable but not the usual best

didn't receive sauces or children's drink with child's meal.

i paid for my order by credit card, when the driver delivered our food he asked for a pin number which i didn't receive, my husband then, not knowing gave the driver £15. i am disgusted by the drivers action taking the money as the foo was paid for.

We used the friary for my Dad’s wake, fish and chips was his favourite meal and they couldn’t have been more helpful. Great communication, 80 fish and 120 chips with sides thrown in. It went down a treat and was enjoyed by all. Thank you for all your hard work yesterday it really is appreciated.

First&last time Ordering from here. Ordered 4 meals for the kids One was missing, when i called the shop the lady was apologetic but wouldn't deliever the missing meal. I get mistakes happen, although ifu cant rectifie it you should not be advertisin

Just a perfect chippy. Couldn’t recommend more highly. I got a chip barm with haddock and peas 👌🏼 was in and out really quickly too. Will dine in next time!

I couldn't fault this chippy.. is easily the best about. I've eaten here a few times now and had the fish, chips, sausage, scallop, gravy and curry (not all at once obviously) but everything is always amazing. Being from a seaside town of Blackpool I hold chippy's to a high regard and never have found one that's as good as my local back home but this (hate to say it) has topped all of them. The fish is banging. The gravy and curry are probably the best I've ever had. If you haven't already. You'll have to try it. Try it once and im sure it will be your Fav chippy forever. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

fish was lovely. however, paying over 9 quid for a large fish, and it's regular sized fish is a joke. 3 quid for a small portion of chips which tasted like they've been in a microwave rather than a fryer. most likely sat in hot hold for too long. 17 in total spent at this place. amazingly cooked fish though, so give em props for something.

Very poor quality, have ordered from here and it has been delicious but tonight the fish was nearly all batter and no fish and the chips very overcooked.

First time visiting with our students today.. Considering there were around 15 of us including staff the customer service was incredible! The food was amazing and the staff were efficient and friendly! Thank you so much for making us all feel welcome! Caroline

Would just like to thank the owners,and the fabulous team. Ordered from just eat,the app said they had delivered,but they hadn't. Because I have a disability they cooked a repeat order and delivered it themselves,I can't thank them all enough.

Awful. Greeting and service very good but I’m afraid that’s where the positives end. Decided to try the Friary due to Whittakers in Cheadle being closed for holidays. What a mistake that was. The place was very busy so I’m thinking this must be good. How wrong was I? Everything was overcooked. The chips were dry, overcooked and some were burnt. The “jumbo” cod was also overcooked and far from “jumbo”. Overall I was extremely disappointed and I wont be going back. So, Friary you had your chance and blew it!

Lovely have been here in person and took out. Staff are great, food is delicious and sit-in dining is great. Overall good place would recommend 10/10

First time order on just eat. Normally use Whittakers. When I was young we could go into a local chippy & order scragg ends. I didn’t think they still existed. Fish ok but chip’s absolutely horrendous

Ordered 2 portions of chips. One didnt show up. So either staff forgot part of the order or the driver stole a portion

Love extra crispy batter and it taste Devine excellent quality ,it was just like I cooked it.Iwas a chef before I became disabled,if you have not tried them all I can say is give them ago and any way you want them ask them .it doesn’t cost you anything

Can't give a star rating as the food we ordered NEVER came, If you want to order anything that involves UBER and just eat, I would think again, The Friary were just as bad, they told me that they had delivered the order and didn't believe me when I told them adamantly it hadn't, i was told they can't refund the money that I paid, I would have to claim it from Just Eat/ Uber, after using the fryery for years this has left me feeling that I won't be using either of them again,

Service today is absolutely shocking. Starting more than one order at a time and just eat orders taking priority. Maybe if they stuck to one order they wouldnt be so flustered . Disorganised is the word that comes to mind. Could have walked out without paying maybe certain staff need to take more interest in the job

Not as good as last week but ok

On a visit from Derby to a relative I came to this place for our tea. The fish, chips, peas and curry sauce were excellent, probably the best fish in batter I've had for sometime. We had a sit down service which was not fast but9 food was worth waiting for. Very fresh. Had to visit again today. So impressed by quality, service and price. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Fish and chips outstanding. A little mix up but all dealt with promptly and resolved.

Totally cocked up the order. Asked for fish and chips and received a burger and chips… Also, the burger had a hair inside. Furious!

this chippy used to be great now its not, chips were awful, ended up throwing them away, they looked like yesterday's leftovers, not value for money, more like waste of money, think I will have to look elsewhere in future, it's too expensive to be throwing away!!! not the first time thus has happened.

Just been in there asked for pie chips and gravy. And they tried putting the pie in a microwave. Might aswell go wetherspoons if you want soggy pies

Always great quality from the friary. Best chippy on just eat locally. The “large” sides could be a little bigger is only gripe but always super tasty and relatively quick!

chips cold & had a strange dry texture, sausages look anemic almost undercooked put me off the food unfortunately, expected great things from this place after reading the reviews unfortunately didn't live up to it . The only things that are good are the Drinks which are nice & cold & the fruity curry , delicious. Will be asking justeat for refund

worse food I've ever had from here. All cold, soggy chips, soggy fish. over cooked and cold sausage, scallops tasteless and cold. no salt or vinegar on anything. the only thing hot was the gravy.

Only been here twice.very friendly people .lovely fish and chips.

can't knock the quality of the food, 100% to the STAFF.However it will be the first and last time I tip the delivery driver as it arrived late,and as I opened the door to him I saw he had the PAPER BAG with food inside on the WET ground,and basically dismissed me with a wave of his hand after picking the bag up and handing it to me.NOT VERY GOOD IN MY OPINION,Especially putting food down on the wet ground and still expecting me to eat it after the paper bag getting wet. HAVE WORDS WITH HIM!!

Missing items a bit frustrating but food good

Food arrived late and cold 25 mins after it was collected. Unable to call the restaurant - going to BT call screening or saying user busy. I wouldn’t mind if it being late if we could at least speak to restaurant. One portion of fish cold but top was crispy, the other was completely soggy. Never usually leave reviews but was so disappointed with the meal and service.

Have ordered a lot from here and it's always been excellent but today the food was nearly cold, there were a lot of black chips and they tasted warmed up Fish wasnt great today either. Hoping it was just a one off.

the food was great bit the just eat driver was a nightmare! the friary made fresh food and brought it to us in a taxi! would defo order again but would prob collect next time , again ...this was just eats fault and not the friarys fault x

The app was showing it was on the way for a very long time. By chance, some people who had been at my house found my order dumped outside of somebody else's house on their way to their car. It was freezing cold obviously! Disgraceful service, don't order from here.

Chips were tasteless.Regular portion of xhips was small, same as the child's portion we ordered. No barms, so they decide to send bread.

I just thought that it was okay really, and the staff seemed quite tired, and indeed stressed so I didn’t feel that much better myself (I won’t blame humans for being human)… though it really didn’t help that there was a noisy, aggressive, and rude family in here — I was put off before I even ate but I also thought that the food itself was just okay — perhaps it’s better to takeaway than to eat in here if anything. Incidentally, the pie itself seemed unevenly cooked with some parts being hard, and some parts being soft — if I came back then I’d probably get a Holland's rather than a Greenhalgh's pie — how it looked here looks very different to how it’s advertised on the latter’s website — but who’s to blame? Well, don’t ask me

Okay. Positives: always looks clean and impressive here. Always wanted to go in because of this. However, I ordered regular chips and some gravy. Went home, opened the chips, and the portion size was extremely small. I even asked the woman in the shop if it was enough for two people and she said yes. At other chippies you tend to have some left overs, but we were left hungry sadly. Also, I was the only one in the shop, and the service was still slow and not too warm. Maybe they were preparing for the county game fans, I’m not sure.

Woman waiter very rude, asked if we were on a budget when we asked for glass of tap water. I am outraged at this behaviour from a member of staff and quite frankly she should be sacked immediately.
