Estimated delivery kept changing from 30mins and ended up here at an hour. If it had stated that originally I wouldn't have ordered. Food was dry, chips were hard and fish batter was burnt. The sausage and the pie were ok. Not great.

Best fish and chips in all of Stockport and seating too!! No heavy stomach feeling afterwards and the batter is so light and crispy.

Had to wait over two hours for two portions of chips that were supposed to be a regular size, which weren't—small at best. Got a fish cake that was clearly not homemade but bought from Iceland and just chucked in the fryer; the price for the size was a joke. To top it off, I ordered an Irn-Bru and a Monster. The price of an Irn-Bru is £1; the price of a Monster is £2.75. They took it upon themselves to replace the Monster with an Irn-Bru, as if that's okay! I'm then losing £1.75 of my money.

Gravy instead of peas & 1 bread instead of the two slices ordered….

First time we’ve ever had a problem with an order from The Friary. Two items missing which meant one family member had no food. The Friary were very apologetic, but their offer of resolutions weren’t ideal (either go to their premises and pick things up, or ask for replacements when we next ordered). Just Eat refunded the amount for the missing items without any problems, thank you Just Eat! The Friary’s food is usually 100% first class, this time I couldn’t tell you if it was or not!

The just eats driver took himself off in the opposite direction after picking up my order then sat in a street for over 10 minutes food arrived luke warm.

Disappointing - Fish was tiny and clearly cut in half, widest part of fish was less than 2", Spicy curry sauce tasted odd and the food arrived barely warm. Ate half as I was hungry, threw other half away.

We placed our order at the friary at 17.25 and it finally arrived 6.50. Very poor and absolutely shocking. X

the food was great! curry sauce and chips were on point. Food always tastes better when served with a smile, and the young lady behind the counter today gets that, so smily and polite, what a great chippy!

Very busy because it's so good. Great chippy even has a restaurant side.

I think people who have had a bad experience at the Friary need to look at themselves before writing negative reviews. I have been a customer there for over 6 years, never had any problems. Excellent food, friendly and courteous service in a relaxed, hygienic atmosphere 11/10.

Always use the Friary take out but after this evenings food never again. Both fish & chips had cold chip & the fish were both very dry. We both left our take out, not enjoyable at all.

Called in at lunch today for chips in the restaurant. Quality as always, however felt the portion sizes were less than usual. Perhaps different from the takeaway portions. Was served our food without any cutlery and nobody around to help.

Ordered for 17.55 for my parents. Was ready at the shop on time but collected half an hour after delivery time and wasn't delivered by just eat courier till 18.45.

first told delivery was going to be 19.25 didn't get it till 19.45 1 hour and 15 minutes from ordering. what a joke

Awful. Fish was absolutely horrific. I don't think had anything worse in my whole entire life. Chips were hard, like literally raw potato. The mushy peas has the consistency of baby poo. So awful I would rather use crack in front of my grandmother than eat her again. Staff were nice though.

Having tried both Salty Towers and the Friary in the last couple of weeks, I have to say that the Friary won hands down. Bigger portion, nicer chips and cheaper. Winner winner chippy dinner 😋

Lovely fresh cooked food. Fast, friendly service and a nice atmosphere. The toilet is a decent size and kept very clean. Took a while to pay though due to them being so busy.

Asked for 2 x haddock & chips. You wouldn’t think that was hard but… for given cod not haddock, chips were cold, people kept pushing fwd to be at the front of the v long queue & the staff knew but didn’t do a thing! Then while making

Service today is absolutely shocking. Starting more than one order at a time and just eat orders taking priority. Maybe if they stuck to one order they wouldnt be so flustered . i paid for my order by credit card, when the driver delivered our food he asked for a pin number which i didn't receive, my husband then, not knowing gave the driver £15. i am disgusted by the drivers action taking the money as the foo was paid for.

The best chippy in Stockport, hands down! I've ate at this chippy on a few occasions now after only discovering it in the last month and i cannot fault it one bit. Everything about it is amazing. I've had all dishes now from the chips (obvs) to fish, pie, peas, sausage, scallop and its always top notch. Especially the fish. The gravy and curry sauce is on another level and if you haven't tried it yet then you need to try it. You won't be disappointed... I've eaten a lot of chippies in my time from all over and this tops it 100%. Consistently quality food every time! Last night I had my usual chippy tea (Friday night would of been rude not too) I had to get an extra sausage so don't judge haha. Staff are amazing too, very welcoming and don't mess about. You can eat in as well if fancied more of sit down meal. 10/10

We used the friary for my Dad’s wake, fish and chips was his favourite meal and they couldn’t have been more helpful. Great communication, 80 fish and 120 chips with sides thrown in. It went down a treat and was enjoyed by all. Thank you for all your hard work yesterday it really is appreciated.

First&last time Ordering from here. Ordered 4 meals for the kids One was missing, when i called the shop the lady was apologetic but wouldn't deliever the missing meal. I get mistakes happen, although ifu cant rectifie it you should not be advertisin

Just a perfect chippy. Couldn’t recommend more highly. I got a chip barm with haddock and peas 👌🏼 was in and out really quickly too. Will dine in next time!

Decent chippy with a pretty good portion size, the price is alright and a good service in general.

I couldn't fault this chippy.. is easily the best about. I've eaten here a few times now and had the fish, chips, sausage, scallop, gravy and curry (not all at once obviously) but everything is always amazing. Being from a seaside town of Blackpool I hold chippy's to a high regard and never have found one that's as good as my local back home but this (hate to say it) has topped all of them. The fish is banging. The gravy and curry are probably the best I've ever had. If you haven't already. You'll have to try it. Try it once and im sure it will be your Fav chippy forever. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

fish was lovely. however, paying over 9 quid for a large fish, and it's regular sized fish is a joke. 3 quid for a small portion of chips which tasted like they've been in a microwave rather than a fryer. most likely sat in hot hold for too long. 17 in total spent at this place. amazingly cooked fish though, so give em props for something.

Would just like to thank the owners,and the fabulous team. Ordered from just eat,the app said they had delivered,but they hadn't. Because I have a disability they cooked a repeat order and delivered it themselves,I can't thank them all enough.

Awful. Greeting and service very good but I’m afraid that’s where the positives end. Decided to try the Friary due to Whittakers in Cheadle being closed for holidays. What a mistake that was. The place was very busy so I’m thinking this must be good. How wrong was I? Everything was overcooked. The chips were dry, overcooked and some were burnt. The “jumbo” cod was also overcooked and far from “jumbo”. Overall I was extremely disappointed and I wont be going back. So, Friary you had your chance and blew it!

Lovely have been here in person and took out. Staff are great, food is delicious and sit-in dining is great. Overall good place would recommend 10/10

First time order on just eat. Normally use Whittakers. When I was young we could go into a local chippy & order scragg ends. I didn’t think they still existed. Fish ok but chip’s absolutely horrendous

Love extra crispy batter and it taste Devine excellent quality ,it was just like I cooked it.Iwas a chef before I became disabled,if you have not tried them all I can say is give them ago and any way you want them ask them .it doesn’t cost you anything

Can't give a star rating as the food we ordered NEVER came, If you want to order anything that involves UBER and just eat, I would think again, The Friary were just as bad, they told me that they had delivered the order and didn't believe me when I told them adamantly it hadn't, i was told they can't refund the money that I paid, I would have to claim it from Just Eat/ Uber, after using the fryery for years this has left me feeling that I won't be using either of them again,

Not as good as last week but ok

On a visit from Derby to a relative I came to this place for our tea. The fish, chips, peas and curry sauce were excellent, probably the best fish in batter I've had for sometime. We had a sit down service which was not fast but9 food was worth waiting for. Very fresh. Had to visit again today. So impressed by quality, service and price. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Always great quality from the friary. Best chippy on just eat locally. The “large” sides could be a little bigger is only gripe but always super tasty and relatively quick!
