Very large and delicious fish but in the last year the chips have really gone down in quality. A real shame because they used to be five star across the board!

Proper fish and chips and great service!

Classic chippie (in a good way!). They coped admirably well with Good Friday and the "limited menu" seemed to be actually everything you could reasonably want so no worries there!

Fabulous fish cooked fresh so the batter is lovely and crispy. My only moan is that the chips are sometimes not as hot as they should be. I also have a side of mushy peas. This fish bar is not local to me so I have to go out of my way to go. And it's worth the drive. There is a small car park around the back of the shop. The staff are always friendly.

Used the App to order. Food came 2hrs later and wasn’t that warm. It was edible, but could have been quicker and a bit better

I really enjoyed eating here when it was more like a cafe that you could sit on your own in rather than ordering a fancy table next door. Food was always amazing here but recently it's just average. Staff are rude, abrupt and unfriendly. Anything you ask for wrapped in paper instead of a tray will be squashed beyond recognition. Such a pity as previously I would of driven miles out the way just to eat here.

Nice food again under these owners. Always busy and lots of choice. Salt n Pepper Squid was a little too salty but a beer washed it down and they once forgot my scallop which they made up for next time I went. Staff work hard and try their best. Michaela rocks!

I have only used Whittakers for delivery as it is the nearest one to me that caters for Gluten Free fish & chips. It is absolutely gorgeus fish! Batter is so light and crispy, fish is huge and thick, so tasty. The service is fab and the drivers are always friendly and polite. Wouldn't order from anywhere else now, even if I found a closer one that caters for Gluten Free!

Whittakers fish bar serves the best fish and chips My family and I have ever tasted. Everything is so fresh , the batter on the fish is amazing,. and the chips are just perfect. We order on line and it is delivered within the agreed time . We never leave anything on our plates, for the food is so delicious. Our orders are dealt with in a very profession way. Service is polite and friendly and we feel so lucky to have such an amazing Fish Bar in our locality. I highly recommend a visit to them , you will not be disappointed.

used to be fantastic today was well below par my salt and pepper calamari was cold and the salad was a quarter box of some onion and 2 slices of salad no lettuce very weird you can charge 2 pounds for that extremely disappointing usually it is very good maybe change of personal, not sure but not good.

The fish and chips is always excellant. We ordered delivery for a Friday night, so delivery took 75 minutes, but this was what the app indicated, so it was not a problem. As ever the food was fresh and hot.

Fish had lost most of the batter to the paper that it was wrapped in. The chips were cold and had seen better days. Not at all happy a happy customer. Don't get it delivered go to the shop it might be better.

I got a takeaway but they delivered gravy instead of mushy peas. Bit disappointed with that and please tell me who on earth has gravy with fish and chips?

Having now tried every local Fish and Chip shop in the area... I can confirm this is the best, the chips are cooked perfectly and the fish batter is light and tasty. If you are not happy with your local or they sit heavy for hours after... I would strongly recommend you travel here you will love them. They also have a carpark at the rear. I hope you enjoy their fish and chips as much as I do.

Having tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, I fancied something tasty and consoling for lunch today. I ordered fish, chips and mushy peas via Uber Eats this lunchtime. We were delighted. The meal had been cooked well, was hot and seasoned to taste, nicely wrapped and presented for delivery; more to the point, it was most satisfying. Thank you. Usually, I visit the shop in person. Whittakers Fish Bar is consistently the best in my local area.

Very long wait ( over an hour ) for home delivery, which is unusual. Only live 5 mins away so should have walked there. Food excellent when it arrived.
