Rubbish food,super salty,and made me sick

Food arrived two hours late. Female owner on the phone lied to me twice about where my food was. Refused to offer a refund. Incredibly rude on the phone, I beg you to not buy your food from here. There are plenty of good Chinese takeaways in Plymouth but this isn’t one of them.

Always wanted to try the takeaway, had it a couple of times now and my wife and I think they make the best special curry in Plymouth

I’ve had a few takeaways and deliveries from here and have never been disappointed. I do tend to have the same every time so it would be an idea if the staff tried to persuade you to try something different,have a bit more knowledge on what goes in a similar dish as to which I’m ordering. I’m not complaining at all ,just need a bit of coaxing into trying something new. Thanks Masterchef never disappointed 😀

After seeing the bad reviews and low stars for this Chinese it really put me off ordering from hear, BUT I TOOK A LEAP OF FAITH and I have to say that I was pleasently suprised at how mice and tasty the food was and cant understand why the negative reviews, my new address has tennets that all said the same that it was worth trying and has always been really nice food. So of ur like me and look at reviews, take my advise and order anyway because u can have ur own experience, which if it isn't good then u don't go again. Im so glad I ignored the reviews and I had to make my own review to update and show that its obviously got alot better!!!! 😃 🙂

Having read some reviews who give a one score. I'm amused as to there reasons? Most are nothing to do with the food, which is what it should be about. I've ordered from here on numerous occasions. And the food has been brilliant every time. The portions are generous, and the food is hot and tasty. Price wise, it's average for a Chinese. And the staff seem pleasant every time, even though they are always busy. This is the only Chinese we order from. 👌🏻

Absolutely the best Chinese in Plymouth the bbq sacuse is meaty and sweet best sauce going there salt and pepper chips are always spot on not like others chicken balls are always perfect and always comes hot not one experience with it being cold, am gonna order now hehe

This used to be my favourite chinese, however recently we have been ordering collections and countless times I have watched the chefs and even the OWNER be weird and inappropriate with the counter girls who look barely legal and even customers. My family and I will not be ordering again.

Absolutely lovely chicken curry and egg fried rice delivered to my door.

Ordered Singapore fried rice, beef and black bean sauce and battered chicken balls with sweet and sour. The food was fantastic, especially the Singapore fried rice. Decent portion for price too.

Do not order a takeaway from here. Order was messed up. Food was awful and staff very rude. Cash only, no receipts!!!! Ordered for a birthday. 7 people. When we rang they said they would deliver missing items that were paid for but we would have to pay delivery. Then we were told the missing food was less than £10 so they wouldnt do it. We rang again to hear staff in the background making insulting remarks. "Charlotte"was exceptionally rude, " Sherry" who was also rude. We dont think that was their actual names as they had to think about it. They said the manager was on holiday and to come and see him when hes back! Just absolutely SHOCKING.

Absolutely shocking. Order Christmas Eve, as we do every year, however ordered at 18.30, not delivered until 9.30. Once received, order was all wrong and missing items. Recently orders have been wrong and no apology is given when you call. Will not go back. Final straw, no concern for delivering good food or customer service.

Best Chinese I’ve had in a while!! We had a large varied order, it was quick delivery and every dish we ordered was tasty and warm. Couldn’t fault any of it!

Ordered food last night and it was awful crispy beef was over cooked and egg fried rice absolutely disgusting opened container and it full of oil. Worst rice I have seen ever whoever's cooking needs to stop.

At 11.20 I rang because no order to be received, to have a answer phone even tho they close at 12am to be passed on to their dragon house team once I’ve had spoken to them, to be told my order had not been put through and sorry it was forgotten at 10pm REALLY!! Even tho the money had be taken from my bank! Disgusting won’t be ordering from these again customer service is shocking no phone-call to say anything was wrong with the order or they couldn’t deliver our order! sat here hungry and waiting for our takeaway on Saturday evening which we only treat ourselves once in while is utterly disgusting and upsetting! Sister company of new dragon house, increased prices with decreased food portions and quality, the chicken balls have now been reduced from 10 to 9 to feed the delivery drivers who kept taking one on every delivery as it's a popular delivery item, so I'm told from a previous employee so you are basically paying for delivery and to feed the drivers aswell.

Food arrived cold, greasy bag containing chips was split. Chips overcooked obviously reheated. Chicken balls swimming in grease and cold as was the curry and rice. Very disappointed as a long time customer.. WILL NOT BE ORDERING AGAIN!

Good Chinese but can be inconsistent with their flavours. On some days it’s nice and other days not so nice. The girl who always takes orders for deliveries needs to do better with remembering clients order specifications and familiarise herself with their menu.

Wokfusion sister company, forwarded to them when wokfusion aren't able to take orders. My warning now, AVOID. I've had 2 orders from here now, only due to wokfusion not being open and thinking maybe the first order was a 1 off mess up, both orders turned up barely warm both times, I order a rice dish and in comparison to Wokfusion this rice looks and tastes days old, 100% no way this food is freshly cooked, I am not a fan of pepper and that is literally all I can taste after 2-3 mouthfuls, disgusting and a waste of money. Also do not call expecting any type of apology for a terrible/cold/incorrect order, expect bluntness and a rude attitude.

this chinese deserves a way higher rating! this is my go to chinese, I love it. everything tastes fresh and delicious every single time. they’re very quick and always friendly!!! should be 5 stars, and i am fussy with my chinese. love it

Consistently good take aways from here. Usually an hour to deliver but worth the wait and always hot. Our go to for Chinese food.

This was Wokfusion 'sister company'. Wokfusion saw me through good times and bad. Very good quality and reliable. Best tofu ever ! I was a very loyal customer and recommended to all. I feel very sorry to say that Master Chef was a massive let down, not one but two occasions. Also over £10 more for the same order with very less quality and taste . Will never go there again. Wokfusion RIP

Having not ordered from Masterchef for some months all I can say is that it was back to it’s previous best after some average offerings. Hot and extremely tasty food, delivered within the time they said. Great customer service too as there was a slight miscommunication over one of the dishes that was ultimately corrected. So whilst we can be super critical in reviews I think it only right to give praise where praise is due. I will be ordering again.

Food comes cold lately and not as good as it used to be

I feel I need to share my experience regarding the customer service i received from master chef this evening! A long term customer spending on average £40 per wk We received our meal this evening without any sauce I called them right away to be told it will be sent out right away 🤨 40 minutes later nothing !!! Called them again and was told we will give you a free one next time (really I’ve already paid for it ) not happy a very dry meal, ruined They were not prepared to do anything more THATS THE LAST TIME I USE THEM Left feeling un valued !

Full order didn’t arrive, when phoned up to complain the lady was dismissive and very rude and unprofessional. Have been a regular customer and won’t be using again.

Ordered from here with friends, took over 2 hours to arrive after chasing it up, when the food arrived it was like warm and missing an item. When we called to give them a chance to rectify the issue we were hung up on. Wouldn't use again.

1st time i order n recommended every one to do so. You won’t regret. Food was delicious n it will be much more better if turmeric was put less in Singapore fried rice but still rating i will give 9.5 out of 10.

Once again the food we ordered was late and cold, and when I arrived home I couldn’t believe that there was hair in the food and egg shells, I rang them up and explained everything to them and they told me to bring the food back, so when I arrived there they was so disrespectful and arguing to me and didn’t even care they wanted to reheat the food I have just brought back and give it back to me, they did refund me but never give no apology, never again will I be ordering from there ever again

This Chinese is truly awful. Staff are ignorant and do not care about customers. Food is always late, they’ll keep you waiting hours. Order always missing something or wrong. One of us was violently ill after eating too which brings hygiene and food preparation into question. Unfortunately the owners rake it in from unsuspecting students so don’t give a stuff about locals or long term customers. Avoid like the plague! Don’t just take my word, read other reviews here.

Always reliable, never had bad food from there and the staff are friendly. It's often the only Chinese open when I finish work.

Ordered a takeaway which arrived with food missing alongside with human hair within the food. Absolutely disgusting and unprofessional! Called the shop and explained the situation where the manager (a gentleman) was totally rude and not understanding at all! Regret ever ordering from this place and would strong advise not to order! alongside awful food you would receive awful customer service. Totally disappointed

After a genuine mistake when taking our order in the shop meaning we recieved a random dish instead of what we ordered. Master chef delivered a replacement of our correct dish and said we could keep the random and as it turned out delicious dish ( #18 pekingese crispy chicken). Probably our tenth meal from them and as always great food. Thoroughly recommend this takeaway!

If I could give zero stars I would. Terrible food that took hours to come & some of order incorrect. Receptionist was incredibly rude & after reluctantly agreeing to deliver what I ordered & paid for, we didn’t even eat those dishes as they smelt funny & it wouldn’t put it passed them to have spit in it. Needless to say, I’d recommend you avoid. You’ve been warned. Oh, and a picky side note, they don’t give free prawn crackers for huge orders, which is pretty stingy 🤣

They tried to kill my wife with negligence. Ordered a sweet and sour vegetables. NO MUSHROOMS, because she is highly allergic. And recieved a portion full of mushrooms. This is illegal and they should be shot down for mistakes like this. They offered to replace it, but took over an hour for delivery. Recieved no apology.

Massive improvement since previous post, staff are polite and helpful. I usually order my crispy chicken, beef or lemon chicken with sauce separate but forgot, opened my order once home and they remembered and separated it for me. May seem simple so some but feel they're a company looking to best please their customers.

Phoned up for a Chinese for 3 children 1 poorly man on dialysis and myself and mum. Called to see where it was 2 hours later, and they told me it hasn't started cooking yet??? My children are waiting for there tea and ready to go to bed! The lady on the phone was apologetic but not sincerely, sounded like she just needed me to get off the phone, I told her I wouldn't be using her service again and she told me that's absolutely fine!? Please if you want to eat and good customer service avoid this absolute terrible place, my poor children and partner are sat here hungry. If you want a good Chinese, quick and friendly please go to YUNGS!

Chips were fabulous but the pancake roll was cold and not freshly cooked. Shame, because food from here is usually superb.

Yet again we find ourselves phoning the very nice and polite ladies working front of house to find out when we can expect our delivery. Ordered at 18.00, one hour delivery to drive 13 mins, Second hour in next phone call, “it’s on its way” 2hrs 30mins from order, a cold, wet, way below average of fast food Chinese meal arrives. We have been customers here for several years, but today will be the last order from us. It will mean nothing to them, but just a word of warning if you decide to use them.

My goto Chinese of Plymouth. Whilst this place isn't what I'd call cheap, you deffo get what you pay for and that's quality. Gals are ace on the front serving, always poilet and friendly. Food is always hot and fresh and their Satay sauce is amaze! Highly recommend.

Very poor quality food and service. We have always used this restaurant and the food used to be of high quality and service was good; however, in recent months both the quality of the food and service have deteriorated. Do not use unless you are happy to wait for 2 hours for poor quality food and missed items. Although they replaced forgotten items it took so long the rest of the food was ruined.

Recieved our meal (frostily). So here is the review I said to the delivery man I would happily post. On first sight I thought "Yes, the food is going to be totally fantastic!!", but on my first bite of fried rice it tasted abit off and smelt just as funny. I had this with special satay, it was averege but the chicken was under-cooked, so turned out was the beef. Left quite abit.Now to my partners special chow-mein. At first sight fantastic again, but when tipped out he needed a telescope to find the noodles. It was all just sitting in a barbacue sauce watery thin stuff. All of the meat was jammed together which may have been ok until you got to taste it. Again the chicken was under-cooked. Was discusting and again tastes completely off. We were really looking forward to this as we are unemployed and like everybody else have bills to pay. The only things that were ok were the barbecue spare ribs, even if the sauce has set completely and now comes out in one piece. We recieved it early and like I said to the delivery driver I would write a review. Bet the driver wishes he had not moaned at me now.

Good food but always late. They say 30 minutes but delivery normally 1-2 hours. Order well in advance but don’t be shocked if there late and your calling them to chase your order

We ordered at 17:30 on a Saturday night. The order was for myself, my pregnant fiancé and my 6 year old daughter. We expected the food to take a couple of hours to arrive as the girl mentioned on the phone, which was absolutely fine, it was Saturday night after all, and we expected it to be busy. Well come…. 19:30 the food still hadn’t turned up. I rang Masterchef and they told me it would be another 15 minutes. I left it half an hour, and at 20:00, guess what… still no food. By this point I had a fiancé with gestational diabetes who’s blood sugar was dropping drastically and was on the brink of going into a hypoglycaemic state (low blood sugar). We had to give her a snack to regulate her blood sugar which was disappointing as now she wasn’t really in the mood for the Chinese food. Well anyway, I decided to give it another 45 minutes, but alas, still no food. So I rang masterchef at 20:45 and asked for either a refund, OR, some form of compensation to account for the almost four hour wait for the food. I was told NO…. they weren’t willing to offer a refund, and they weren’t willing to chuck in some rice or a bag of prawn crackers to compensate. So now the time is 21:00. Still no food. At this point we have a 6 year old who is literally falling asleep without having had any dinner and my fiancé who has now already eaten something else because her blood sugar was dangerously low. 21:15. I gave up waiting. Just as I’m about to cook a meal for myself and my daughter, the food FINALLY turns up. A near four hour wait for the food. I was going to refuse it, but seeing as I had already paid for it and Masterchef clearly weren’t going to refund or compensate in any way, I took it in anyway. To add a cherry on top - the food was bland, chicken drastically undercooked, and one of the dishes were missing. Great. Should I ring up and complain? I thought to myself. Then I remembered the terrible attitude of the girl on the phone and the the chefs behind her who told her not to compensate us for waiting 4 hours for our food. They probably wouldn’t have gave a toss either way. I know you’re probably reading this and thinking “there are two sides to every story, he’s probably exaggerating” - I’m honestly not. I’m a patient person and don’t hand out one star reviews unless an injustice has occurred or I’ve encountered a genuinely terrible experience. The attitude of the owners is terrible, they make you wait hours for your order, the food is undercooked and disgusting, and to top it all off they genuinely don’t care if they’ve made you wait hours on end for your food when they promised you otherwise. I would rather Masterchef were honest with me and told me it was going to be a much longer wait than 2 hours, rather than dress it up and still take my order. Unfortunately they probably get a lot of custom from the Uni students to keep them in business, so customer service and loyalty to regular customers isn’t at the forefront of their minds. To put it bluntly - DO NOT order from this establishment. Don’t just take my word for it. Check out their Facebook page and you will see similar reviews and experiences.

Ordered at 6.35pm to be told 1.5hr delivery it’s now 9.15pm still nothing. We rang 8.30pm and told 20 minutes tops .... Hate being lied to, either tell the truth or don’t accept the order if cannot accommodate. When we called at 9.15pm to cancel they said it’s bagged up ready !! No thank you, already lost our trust and regularly weekly custom

Such a shame - the food is normally great, recently the service and timescales have slipped. If they told me I would be waiting 2.5 hours for food I would have gone elsewhere. When you call to find out what’s going on and the member of staff cuts you short with no apology and hangs up... that’s not good enough for me. Sorry, but I don’t have time to deal with this moving forward and will order elsewhere

Quite simply the best salt and pepper chips and chicken I have ever had in my life! And even got a free tub of curry! Friendly staff and will 100% be getting my chinese from here every time I order one.

Very surprised to see negative reviews here, we have always found Master Chef to be excellent. Really good quality fresh-tasting food and always ready promptly although I do tend to collect rather than wait for a delivery. I've previously had one problem with the online ordering system but it seems to be quite slick now. Understandably popular, get your order in early, recommended.

Awful. You will be waiting 3 hours for food. Many cases of food poisoning from this place too. Do not order with these guys. We asked if we could have any sort of compensation for waiting did 3 hours with cold food and they told us no. DO NOT ORDER! spend your money somewhere else.

It's been good up to now. We have had good food from here before. Then despite spending over thirty pounds on a meal delivered, the food was cold, and there were no complimentary prawn crackers with it. Disappointing.

Was always apprehensive as it was rumoured this establishment was closed down due to traces of CAT in dishes!!, however gave it a go due to new management and locality of restaurant to our home. To our disappointment our small order took hours to be delivered by which time it was getting very late and we had passed hunger. The staff were extremely rude when checking the status of the order and kept passing the phone over to one another. When the food finally arrived the order was wrong!!! And what we did receive was extremely oily and luke warm. Reluctantly telephoned to have this corrected and was passed to various people who accused us of lying and hung up on me. Will not order from here again we should of read other reviews but gave the benefit of doubt. Don't waste your money.

Disgusting!!! I was a regular customer but stopped ordering as food got very gelatinous. Thought I’d give another go & wish I didn’t. First, they got my order completely wrong. Delivered a beef dish, which I can not eat. Second, They also completely forgot part of my order. Mistakes happen but third, they were Very very rude when I rang to tell them & request what I asked for. They acted like they were doing me a favour when I asked them to deliver what I ordered. I asked if the rest of the order would be replaced as 1 person was missing a side & another missing their meal because the food would get cold before rest would come. Very abruptly told no. They demanded the wrong dish back, which is fine as nobody wanted it, but I didn’t like the way it was implied we were lying about their error. 4th No apology & nothing offered as compensation, not even prawn crackers when we asked for them, dispute spending nearly £50. 5th When the food came it was horrible! Gelatinous, oily, small portions & poor quality meat. I am very angry & wont be ordering their TERRIBLE food again!

Food tasty and hot on arrival fast service

Used the pre-order system on Saturday afternoon, as assumed Saturday night would be busy and I wanted to place an order in good time for a timely delivery. Order placed at 16.26 for delivery at 19.30. At 19.40 the order had not been delivered. I called and spoke to someone who said my order was placed, but not sure what was happening. After speaking to someone else, I was told the delivery driver was just leaving with my delivery and it would be here in 10 minutes. At 20.00 still no delivery. Called again and was told the driver had left 20 minutes ago. We only live a 5 minute drive away, so couldn't believe he had left all that time ago. Driver arrived 35 minutes late at 20.05. Took my order and realised that the chips had not been delivered!! Called the store for the 3rd time and told, not sure when the chips would arrive, no refund can be given, but maybe discount next time I order....trust me, I won't be ordering again! Finally, 20 minutes later, the chips arrived while the rest of the meal was going cold. Really unimpressed at the poor service, lack of apology and being lied to when told the driver was on his way. Clearly my order hadn't even been cooked yet. Will not be using this takeout again.

A better Chinese but still room for improvement flavour wise

I couldnt enjoy my food as the driver that delivered the food was very rude to me only because i was paying by cash and he didnt have change. So i had to go back upstairs to get the exact ammount. (Trying to be helpfuland understand him) I Said tp the driver sorry to make you wait. But his reply was that im stingy and rude and that i should just let him have a tip. While saying that he was staring at me as if he wanted to hit me and he was shouting it on my road. Honestly Very Unproffesional!!! I would never ever order from Master Chef again!! People like this dont deserve a job if they dont respect people and just selfishly thinking of their money and tips.

Food is some of the best Chinese I've ever eaten.... Its just unfortunate at how quickly it comes out the other end. Had this on the weekend and took a phone conversation with a doctor the next day, both my wife and I have been diagnosed with food poison. Ideal for weight loss. But not an enjoyable experience.

Since the shutdown of most establishments I can honestly say I have tried most of the Chinese takeaways left open. I can honestly say this one is the best and have now been on two consecutive weekends. I collect mine from the door so can’t moan about the delivery times. I have had duck with green pepper and black bean sauce which was lovely but this week I had sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style with fried rice and very meaty flavoursome bbq spare ribs. The sweet and sour sauce was rich, lovely and thick with tender lovely chicken. I honestly can’t fault the food. I would recommend people to try it but expect delays if waiting for delivery due to the current situation. Don’t be put off by a long delivery time, try the food. Enjoy. Stay safe all

¡Pedí comida para llevar esta noche y no podría haber estado más impresionado! Pedido en línea y tuve una llamada para aclarar los comentarios que dejé sobre el pedido, la chica del teléfono fue muy amable y paciente. La entrega se retrasó un poco, pero de nuevo la chica se mostró educada y se disculpó cuando llamé para ver cómo estaba y le expliqué que estaba en camino. ¡La comida llegó muy caliente y fue fácilmente la mejor comida china que hemos comido! ! Esperé casi 3 horas para que se le dijera a un pedido que esperara otra media hora, solicité un reembolso en su lugar y luego se lo pasé al propietario, que es el hombre más grosero con el que he hablado y que me colgó el teléfono cuando pedí un reembolso. ¡He usado a Master Chef en varias ocasiones en el pasado y definitivamente no los volveré a usar! ! ¡Calificaría 0 estrellas si esa fuera una opción! ! !

This was my favourite Chinese but after putting an order through at 17:53 and still not arrived by 19:05 I thought I better ring and they don’t even have my order on their system and nobody on shift remembers my call? Worst customer service and the person on the phone gave no empathy. Very disappointed, you have just lost a customer!!! Call log for proof when I put my order through and rang later.

Went in store and ordered, spent £15 on a small dinner for myself and partner. Service good, food was cooked and served promptly. Enjoyed it at home, very generous portion sizes and equally great tasting food. Thank you

After running late with a nail appointment I gave these a ring to order our tea. Told them I’d be half hour and when I arrived the food order was literally waiting for me. Everything was pipping hot and tasted great!! Would use again 👍

Absolutely fantastic customer service, and amazing food. Placed a telephone order to collect, the girl on the phone was very polite and when we collected all staff were very welcoming. Highly recommend

Pedimos desde aquí que nuestro chino habitual estaba cerrado, ¡pero me alegro de que lo estuvieran! La comida era tan sabrosa llena de sabor y grandes porciones! Llamamos a las 7. 15 el servicio en el teléfono era 5 * Pedí recomendaciones y eso es lo que recibí. Pedí un par de artículos que normalmente no haría pero eran muy buenos, ¡especialmente calamares de sal y pimienta! Increíble servicio, y la entrega rápida no puede esperar para ordenar nuevamente. gracias sigan buen trabajo

The curry was like water no flavour with a few bits of chicken in it I've used this place for a few years now it is not good at the moment.
