Had a take out tonight and I can tell you it was faultless perfect so so good the two dishes were cooked superbly best Chinese Iv had in Plymouth in a long time ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So, a number of other reviews talk about the decor and how the place looks. And they aren't wrong, the place is a bit rough around the edges! However, the food is fantastic, tasty, good portions and very reasonably priced, there were only a couple of main dishes over £10. Recommend the lamb in chilli, loads of lamb, nice and crispy, and great sauce. You would miss this place if you weren't looking for it, the only thing that really notes it's existence externally is a menu in the window. But well worth hunting out.

Should be an attraction in itself. Check out the light switch on the way in, it's quite something. Food was nice, but I've seen cleaner crackhouses. Secret ingredient must be grime, photos too offensive to post. Toilets were like Reading festival, but indoors. Weeds growing in the toilet ceiling ft. eggs ready to hatch any day and the toilet could do with a bleach. Absolutely amazed a place like this exists, all in all great experience due to the extraordinary conditions and this will be one of the most memorable meals I've ever had. Keep up the great work.

The best Chinese in Plymouth in my opinion. We go all the time and the food is fantastic. The decor is a bit lacking but the food is so good it trumps everything else. Each dish has individual flavour and is obviously well prepared. The owner is a lovely Chinese lady, and has a nice young family. If you want some genuine traditional Chinese food made to order (not just from a huge pot in the back), go here!!! 5 stars

Delicious meal - best sit down Chinese we have had. 4 main meals and 2 drinks cost £30 so very good value. Would definitely go again.

Got a takeaway which cost £70 Special fried rice was just fried rice with a small puce of chicken and 2 small pieces of pork. No sauce. Veg curry very watery and mainly onion and bamboo shoots, one mushroom and two bits of carrot. Satay chicken so watery. They forgot the egg fried rice and we asked for bbq sauce. They eventually brought it 40 min later despite only being just down the road. When spending that much all other takeaways always give prawn crackers but didnt get any, even as an apology second time.

The restaurant needs a good clean very dirty. And the toilets very bad 👎 😑

I always go there every week just before they shut for my Singapore noodles and I always ask them to have it super spicy, they never miss a beat, these guys are lovely, their kids are very polite too and their noodles is the bomb! I won’t go anywhere else as I really do enjoy their food, keep it up guys ;-) Nick from the boat ;-)

Absolutely filthy....used loo and then returned and cancelled the order my husband had placed , paid 4 drinks and left! Tablecloths were filthy loos were disgusting and an old apple core left on table behind us, when i pointed it out, it stayed there?....DO NOT EAT HERE!

This place is absolutely horrid, the manager is very angry and there is always arguing from the kitchen. The whole place is a health and safety nightmare, exposed and hanging wires, broken toilets,uncleaned dishes, the chef even puts raw chicken in a colinder he also uses to put 'clean' cutlery in. And the food is disgusting, chicken undercooked, noodles still hard, terrible service and terrible delivery. Overpriced food and does not live up to the standard of it's price. NEVER GO HERE. It's not worth your time, or your money. STAY AWAY.

Zero stars if I could. Absolutely disgusting. Should have seen the warning signs with how dirty, cheap looking it was inside, with very rude staff. I could tell something about the food didn’t seem right but not trusting my instincts I ate it anyways. Was just hungry 🙄🤦‍♂️. Me and my girlfriend then wake up in the night with hideous food poisoning. Called them up to explain, they thought we were calling for an order and spoke very clear English. Until they realised it was a complaint about the food poisoning, then suddenly nobody could speak English. Shocking, please avoid! We have now put in an official complaint to authorities

Austin was a great host, very attentive and the food was amazing. Really tasty, lots of it and very flavorful. We were very optimistic when we arrived as we were the only table to be occupied but actually this didn't matter.

We were walking past and a couple came out of this restaurant and we asked them what the food was like. They reckoned it was lovely so we went up the spiral staircase, and after our initial concerns about the decor and us being the only people in there, we ordered a set meal for 4. Oh, and two bottles of wine! The food was delicious and we were absolutely stuffed. The waiter was young but really polite and did a great job. The total bill was £115. Bargain. We will definitely go back.

avoid!! ordered my food 2 hours before it came off just eat. turned up at 1:15am roughly after notifying me the driver was on his way at 12:10am even though it’s a 10 mins drive. we all went bed thinking he wasn’t coming that’s how long it took! food was of course warm which was a shame and half of it wasn’t even eaten as others didn’t get back up to eat at gone 1am. no compensation offered from the chinese itself but just eat offered a pathetic £12.55 when it cost us £40 embarrassing! won’t be yuns or just eat again. cheers👍🏼

The food was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend this place. It is in a great location. The staff was extremely polite and the service was satisfying.

We used the Crystal Dragon occasionally over a couple of decades. We’ve had both good times and disappointing experiences. We’ve not been in for a while although today we came by and saw the Crystal Dragon sign gone and the ‘Yun’s Chinese Restaurant & Takeaway Tel. 01752 250288 Fully Licensed’ sign in its place. The menu displays in the box beneath look crumpled and worn but are headed ‘New Crystal Dragon’.

Absolutely disgusting ordered at 11 didn't get our food till 1 and when it came it wasn't edible at all, cold tasted off, Will not be ordering off them again absolutely dirty

Was on way to the cheap chain pub opposite but looked busy so went upstairs to Yuns Chinese restaurant, we were the only people there but we were made to feel very welcome. The service was speedy and efficient and the food excellent. The restaurant has been decorated recently. £40 for two including drinks, worth a visit if you want that something a bit different. Loved it.

It has been many years since eaten here used to be the place to go for good food. Walking in to the restaurant was like going way back in time deco is old and dated and could do with a paint to freshen up, plastic table cloths on table, the toilets could do with a good clean !!! the young guy waiter did not have a clue what he was doing, On a positive the food was good lots of flavour crispy duck to start, meat curry and beef black bean sauce for mains.

Really good and quickly delivered

Where do I begin... let's start with the good - the food was great. The chicken curry and the rice the best I've ever had, either eat in or takeaway. But the rest.... was very poor. On entering a restaurant with just one other table on a Saturday night - cheap plastic table cloths, no atmosphere, weird flashing lights, terrible music. Drinks order taken by a school boy with no adults present, ordered drinks and specifically asked that our mineral waters were left in the bottles so that we could take them away with us but it turns out they were just poured from big already open like warm bottles, as was the coke - warm and completely flat. Confusion with the food order being taken but got there in the end. The other table was using appalling language (every other word being c*** or f***) and no member of staff old enough or responsible enough to ask them to keep their language reasonable for the sake of other customers. After we had finished our food we had hoped to order sweets (not realising they don't do any) but out bill had already been printed off and brought to our table. We ended up going to Wet Wok for our sweets - Crazy that Crystal Dragon doesn't put more effort into the service, atmosphere - creating the whole package / experience because the food itself was fantastic. Had I had that curry and rice, with the puddings and atmosphere of Wet Wok then it would of been the best Chinese I'd of ever had out.

Lovely meal Enjoyed our meal, excellent lemon chicken and Kung Po king prawn.Quick and friendly service. Don’t be put off by the entrance via the spiral staircase!

Quick and friendly on phone, didn't demand up-front payment. (I prefer phone ordering, not website.) The order was ready in 5 minutes, I just parked nearby and walked to collect. Chicken was plump and fresh, taste was good and pricing was the best in town. p.s. This Tripadvisor needs a repair job: I accidentally approved a bad review and there is no way to edit!

If you like your chicken chewy, beef you can snap, cold rice, your gin and tonic warm and flat, your thatchers cider warm and flat, your pint of coke poured from an already open 2l bottle of coke "also warm and flat" dirty plates and cutlery ignorant staff in a drab looking restaurant then this is the place for you, otherwise avoid this place at all cost you've been warned

Visited here after being let down by another restaurant locally. Surprised that there were no ther diners on a very busy bank holiday but nevertheless, a very good meal was had by all. Well worth a visit....lovely prawn toasts!

Never eat here. Don't bother. We have waited now on two occasions for over 2 hours for food to show at our house... Call many times and no answer or get a rude employee telling us it's on its way every 20 mins though we are a 5 minute drive from the location. When the food does get to you, it's cold, soggy and tasteless. Worst Chinese and service in the whole of Plymouth!!

"EXCELLENT "...Me and my family have just moved here and we have tried a few Chinese takeaways but my god I wish we found you first we have just had ours delivered and it was amazing....the trouble I have with others is the fried rice dishes aren't fried at all but yours is and is lovely even the rest of the family enjoyed their curries too including my 16 month old daughter she had 4 helpings of her dish lol and not to forget your delivery driver he was very polite and happy

Ordered for the first time, delivery man rung while outside. The phone was silent. I rang him 7 times and all 7 times it was silent. Rung the shop for them not to answer. My partner walked up the road to the car and received the food. The food was stone cold, so I rung the shop again, they answered and I told them what had happened. I then received verbal abuse about it, so I asked what they was going to do, to receive more abuse including being swore at. I then rung the delivery driver for him to answer and asked what was happening. He called me a white ba****d I will never order from them again, I am angry at the way he spoke to me and the state of my food. Please advise at all costs

Whilst working away with 3 others, we fancied something to eat and stumbled across the Crystal Dragon. You need to look out for it as the entrance stairs are set back a bit from the street.The restaurant was empty so we thought the servcie would be quick, but unfortunately it was very slow, almost to the point were we thought they had forgotten us. When the food did arrive it was OK.

Hakka now closed have a feeling its the same chef as food just as good and menus look familiar on the first floor.

Everything was sticky to touch. Screaming from the kitchen but food was ok.

Food was very late, we gave the order by full names of the dishes instead of numbers due to restaurants computer issues and even then after having to wait longer they brought the wrong food. We called back to complain and get the right food and they refused to help or give us the money back. Awfull service.

No frills restaurant but amazing food, had a set meal for 2 £17.50 each, more than we could eat, every bite was extremely tasty.

Conocido por una señora cuyos zapatos (zuecos) eran claramente demasiado grandes y hacían un ruido molesto al caminar por el piso de madera, sin contacto visual y simplemente grosero con su mansión. .Las bebidas pedidas obtuvieron 2 refrescos calientes y un vaso de agua tibia, momento en el que quería pagar las bebidas e irme. .Llegó la comida sin platos, ni cubiertos, otro chiflado de la cocina se quedó sin comida mientras miss zuecos andaba pisando fuerte por el lugar. . .Mientras comía zuecos miss era verter coca de una botella a otra sin preocuparse por los clientes. .El requisito mínimo es el servicio al cliente, carecen de esto y más. .Así que puede leer esto y pensar que tuve un mal día, créanme, no era necesario cerrar estos muchos o darse cuenta de que los clientes importan. .Si quieres la versión china de continue, ve allí para reírte. . si es un servicio decente, respeto, reconocimiento, buena comida EVITARSi me ignoraste, apuesto a que cuando termines te patearás y pensarás que debería haber escuchado a ese hombre. !

Not authentic enough for me but staff were wonderfull

2 amigos y yo visitamos aquí el lunes por la noche y encontramos al propietario y su personal muy amables y serviciales, comí la sopa de cangrejo y maíz dulce para comenzar, seguida de gambas agridulces con arroz frito con huevo, que era encantador, mi amigo tenía el pollo a la sal y pimienta como entrante y no pararía de decir lo buenos que estaban durante días, espero que disfrutes tu visita tanto como nosotros la nuestra

Pedí un plato de champiñones con arroz y obtuve un gran trozo de plástico, de lo que parecía un recipiente de plástico alojado en mi garganta. Me estaba ahogando y finalmente me enfermé, ¡lo que logró sacar este enorme trozo de plástico! La comida no tenía sabor y obviamente me desanimé de comer más, muy decepcionado. Realmente no puedo hacer mucho ahora pero me duele mucho la garganta.

I ordered £25 worth of food, I was a dish short and couldn't eat the food I ordered as I am allergic to onion, and I did state when requesting my order no onion as I am allergic! When I contacted the restaurant to request that the driver collect the food and issue me a refund I was yelled at in Chinese and was told I am angry, I explained I am not angry but disappointed, the lady on the phone apologized and said the driver's phone is off, and she will bring a new dish the next day without onion, I said it was not good enough and she hung up. I am now sat in tears because of the sheer rudeness and audacity of this company. What hurts most is like everyone else I work hard for my money, and never once used my privileges of being a key worker during this lock down, but tonight I felt I had to mention it! My best advice is stay clear of this establishment....they were quite happy to point out the problem but not the solution.

Never again house special looked grey hardly any meat dry no taste horrible. Will not be ordering again.

Lovely tasty food. Best Chinese had in a while

Our visit was pretty much a disaster from the start. Table was booked in advance but there was no preparation even though only 2 tables were occupied. The only waiter was a 12 year old boy who had no idea what he was doing while mum was running in and out the kitchen. Our order took over an hour to be served, while we sat in a cold restaurant area listening to a variety of terrible music which at one point included kids nursery rhymes! If only I had read earlier TA reviews I would have given this a miss. Worse than Faulty Towers.

Food arrived 50 minutes late and wasn’t very nice other than the chicken chow mein. Sweet and sour chicken balls didn’t come with half enough sauce, duck was horrible and fatty and the ‘plum sauce’ which came separately to pour onto the duck was horrible and nothing like plum sauce! It was like an oily treacle. Not good, I don’t advise this Chinese.

Cancelled due to not having certain items over an hour after ordering! I now have to wait 3 days for refund. AVOID.

Never know why it is do quiet as the food is excellent

Ordered a meal from here, it took over two and a half hours to arrive and when it did it was cold and tasted disgusting, bbq sauce was thick and so oily and old, rice was clumped together not cooked properly. Rudest staff on the phone also after I rang them four times to ask where my order was, they even hung up on me at one point. After waiting that long we gave up and put a pizza in the oven which came to our rescue as the food was so bad. Avoid at all costs. There are better chinese restaurants around we just happened to pick the worst one this particular time!

I went here only yesterday and I can say it was a mesmerizing experience. I saw an amazing fish which my friend, who is an ichthyologist which recognized it as a flower horn cichlid something he felt was like a home. We sat down, and we were greeted by a young boy, who was polite and was just helping. The radiator was on and we were even given a hot tray which was incredibly unique. We were given a portion of prawn crackers, which still had the most satisfying crunches still in them. They served good wine and beer and the food was amazing. I suggest if you haven’t yet gone, I’d go on a family trip there. I must say I am definitely going again and I could easily recommend this to another friend.

I’ve never dealt with such rude employees but you can see how rude they are by their responses to all the other poor reviews (and I’m not surprised there’s a lot of bad ones)

DON'T EAT HERE. I don't normally do this but I found an earwig in my chow mein, and whilst throwing it away found a second one!!!!! Also there was a hair in the chicken balls. Seriously this place is a health hazard! If I could give it zero star I would. Ordered it last night but wasn't very hungry so just put the whole lot in the fridge for breakfast and this is what I get!!

El Dragón de Cristal solía ser muy agradable hasta hace unos meses; No sé qué ha pasado desde entonces, pero se ha ido drásticamente cuesta abajo.Esta noche, mi compañero y yo quisimos una comida rápida y fácil de tortilla de pollo y papas fritas, así que decidimos ir a comer solo y pedirlo a un chino. No quería usar el Crystal Dragon, pero mi habitual estaba cerrado, así que pensé en darles otra oportunidad, ya que está muy cerca de mi casa, así que pensé que al menos llegaría rápidamente. 50 minutos después, llega la comida. La señora de la entrega (que también trabaja en el restaurante, es decir, no era un mensajero de terceros) decidió empujar el timbre de la puerta y no soltarlo hasta que bajamos las escaleras (desde el piso del tercer piso) y abrimos la puerta. Esto fue muy grosero e innecesario.Llevé la comida a la cocina y la abrí, solo para descubrir que había alrededor de 10 fichas en cada bolsa, no las bolsas de fichas que se llenan o revientan de otros restaurantes chinos. No solo eso, sino que los pocos chips que estaban allí estaban completamente recocidos y muy oscuros. Luego abrí las cajas de tortillas para encontrar lo que solo se puede describir como un lío de huevos revueltos con algunos trozos de pollo. Todo el orden fue completamente incomible y se fue directo a la basura. Sin embargo, no termina ahí. Luego me dirigí directamente al restaurante para pedir un reembolso, pero tuvieron la audacia de rechazar un reembolso porque "es imposible cocinar una tortilla y papas fritas". No pude evitar reír. Quería decir "bueno, sí, yo también lo pensé ...". No conozco ningún otro restaurante que tenga el valor de rechazar un reembolso o un reemplazo cuando un cliente no está satisfecho con su comida. Pagué por un producto que no recibí, así que tengo derecho a un reembolso. Fui con un grupo - reservado 6 semanas de antelación.Solo 2 empleados trabajando, 1 sirviendo en el bar y mesas de espera y 1 cocinando.Todas las selecciones de alimentos se habían pedido de antemano, pero simplemente no podían hacer frente al volumen de alimentos.Algunas personas esperaron casi 2 horas para conseguir su comida.No había ni siquiera arroz suficiente y esto se envió unos 30 minutos antes de que llegaran los platos principales.Muchas personas decepcionadas, cancelaciones y disgustadas.Evitar a toda costa! ! !

Organizamos una comida después del espectáculo para 30 personas en este restaurante para el elenco y amigos después de actuar en una producción local. Esto se realizó con al menos 6 semanas de anticipación, así que nos sorprendió que solo hubiera 2 miembros del personal trabajando. La velocidad de la comida que salía era terrible, el arroz se sacaba en grandes tazones, pero luego tuvimos que esperar unos 20 minutos antes de que llegaran los platos principales, momento en el que el arroz estaba frío. Cuando nos quejamos, nos dijeron que éramos demasiados y que la comida se estaba cocinando. Sabían cuántos habían reservado, como dije, habíamos reservado al menos 6 semanas antes, así que deberían haber puesto más personal o, si no podían hacer frente, no deberían haber tomado la reserva. Llegamos al restaurante a las 10. 15 y la comida de algunas personas no llegó hasta la medianoche. La comida en sí cuando llegó era encantadora, pero el servicio era atractivo, ni siquiera una disculpa por el retraso. No volveremos a comer aquí de nuevo.

Has a small entrance then up a metal staircase to a small but cozy restaurant. Guaranteed a warm welcome by the friendly staff. A great menu at very affordable prices. Will not comment on individual dishes, suffice to say everything we had was very authentic, tasty and piping hot. Food just kept coming... I really didn't want to leave lol.

I don’t normally write reviews but today I just had to. I walked through the barbicans and had delicate delights of food. I got the starter and main course.It was delicious. The food came quickly. I would recommend to come here.

I went around the barbicans of Plymouth with my family at six to find this restaurant. I went in and I met a woman who led us to a table of four. We were presented with prawn crackers and fancy menus. One minute later, we were asked for our drink choices . We got them immediately. We were also asked what we wanted and we got a special platter and got it in 5 minutes. It was on awesome. Definitely worthy of a family dinner.

Ordered through Just Eat. The food was cold and greasy. the prawn balls were obviously refried at least once. The food was over 1.5 hours late and the customer service was non-existent. I called at 1.50 for an ETA was yelled at that it was out for delivery when they didn't even take a name or postcode. After the initial call, no other calls were picked up. We gave up and cooked a pizza then the food arrived at 3:10. To top it off the restaurant denies it being so late so not only did we not get a refund but the pain of binning that disgusting food.

Waiting 10 minutes for literally anyone to come seat us and 3 other waiting people left by then, ohone rings very loudly right next to tables, food takes a very long time to come out and we waiting almost 20 minutes for the bill

I'm unable to review the food here as we didn't stay. There was a funny smell throughout the place, which incidentally was deserted. The toilets were perhaps the dirtiest I have ever seen, hair all over the floor from an attempt at mopping. My partner and his son waited for me and watched the very scruffy waitress (jeans and faded sweatshirt), ironing the napkins on the bar.

We visited on Sat 23rd June and had a set meal ( A ) for two, it was okay but nothing special. I needed to go to the Gent's well it was dirty, the toilet pan and surround was filthy, the floor dirty, less than half a toilet roll and the old used one still on the holder.The hand wash was empty and the sink was also dirty. The worst bit was the toilet brush it was disgusting never been cleaned for ages, had poo on it, should have been thrown out Well this put me right off, we paid the bill and left and would never go back. The mark of a good restaurant is clean toilet's.

walking in there the place is a bit worn down, but thats part of the charm, it feels like i'm taken back to Big Trouble in little china or Lethal Weapon 4. regardless of how it stimulates movie flashbacks for me, the food and service were great and thats what i hope the reader will experience when you go.

Starter was ok although they didn't have first 2 things we asked for. Mains were meat dishes but mostly packed with sloppy veg. Found a hair in one of the mains so they took it off the bill, had no intention to pay for something that wasnt edible but glad didn't have to argue that point. The waitress was lovely she had a full restaurant to wait on alone though. Far to busy for one waitress but i appreciate thats not her fault. The actual place needs a good clean sticky floors, grubby doors and the light switch we were sat by was black with dirt! Toilets also need a good clean and redecorating.

Appalling service. Ordered food nearly two hours ago and it still isn't here despite receiving a message from them an hour ago saying that it was out for delivery. Called the restaurant half hour ago and she told us our food would be 5 minutes. We called again and asked to speak to the manager and could hear them in the background telling her to tell us that that they werent there. Disgusting customer service. I was told a delivery time of 45 minutes.....an hour and half later cold greasy food arrived. When I called to explain I was met by a lady on the telephone with a barrage of abuse; shouting at me that I needed to return the food myself. When I asked to speak to a manager the lady screamed in Chinese. I have never ever had such a shocking experience.it was also the first time I have used tgis restaurant and the last. DON'T GO THERE.

My boyfriend ordered food from here via Just Eat on Monday night. Delivery was 45mins late, i phoned after 20 mins and got fobbed off saying the delivery was out and should be with us soon. Then when it did arrivea there was barely an acknowledgement from the delivery guy. The food was barely warm and 4 of our battered chicken balls were still pink in the middle. Not impressed!

Having eaten at the crystal dragon many times and decided to order a takeaway. Arrived earlier than expected however the spring rolls had been battered and deep fried and were very greasy! Ordered the special satay which was swimming in oil and although it shpuld have had beef, chicken and prawns in, it contained 1 prawn! Ordered a chicken fried rice and it was bland and totally tasteless! So very, very disappointed:(

Nearly 2 hours late for delivery and when I asked to speak to a manager I get told ‘they don’t want to speak to you’ ! Terrible service and food arrived warm at best!

Ordered food at 19:22 still hasn’t arrived. When I called to speak to the manager she shouted down the phone to her colleague saying she didn’t want to talk to me. Awful customer service, in no way tried to rectify their mistake.

Lovely staff and good quality food.

I've been here several times now. It always seems to be open when everywhere else is closed, which is a real bonus on a quiet night. It is like walking back into an eclectic mix of 70's and 80's decor but thats no bad thing - it is comfortable and warm, with a good atmosphere and good service. it appears to be family run as there are invariably children doing their homework in the restaurant. Not a problem as it always invokes a talking point, and we all know that every other culture appears to be better than the Brits at instilling the little people with a good study and work ethic. I digress -the best part here is the food - there is a good selection, reasonably priced. To be honest, it has never let us down on quality and quantity. The crispy seaweed is lovely, the meal for 2 enough for 3, and the rice dishes surprisingly (but pleasantly) spicy. I thoroughly recommend coming here for a quiet evening out. If there is anything to pick up (not really) then if you have a problem with stairs, you may need help getting up these. But this is minor.
