excellent chicken schnitzel with ceasar salad - only 4 stars as my brother’s burger wasn’t quite as good as last time. beautiful garden view over the estuary.

What a wonderful roast, fresh veg cooked to perfection and a great choice of meats would totally recommend 😋

Absolutely shocking service after witnessing the land lady assault a guy and his daughter. She punched the guy multiple times in the face and was pulling him around by his jumper. She told him to leave but then once she realised the bill hadn't been paid she then proceeded to try and lock them all in. Very uncomfortable and certainly not a pub I'd go to again.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS what kind of pub has a DJ, a dancefloor and a balloon man for kids and then kicks families out the pub because a 2yr old child was too loud!!!!? Then when they offer to pay, you order them out, THEN you you realise you've messed up....LOCK THEM IN. I'll provide more of an update after assault charges are brought up again the landlady. AVOID

Me and my family went for food. There was a ballon man and disco, the 3 kids were dancing on the dance floor when the landlady approached very aggressively saying how she can’t handle the sound of the kids and we had to leave. This was at 7.15pm. The kids were just being kids and weren’t causing any harm they were the only ones on the dance floor so only ones getting involved with the entertainment. When my boyfriend went to pay the bill she assaulted him while he had my daughter in his hands, she then was screaming in his face and pulling his clothes. When we we able to get outside she proceeded to attack him (I had taken my daughter after the first time she attacked him) she then punched him in the face 4 times. She is very aggressive and scared all the children. She is clearly a big drinker and it’s scary what kind of people are trusted to run a pub. I will be taking this further.

Went on Sunday for the Carvery. Nicest meal I have had in a long time. Good service, perfect meal and being a piggy I had a dessert as well. PERFECT!!!!! Will be there again, SOON.

Went along to the first bike night tonight it was a really good great fun. The food was great everybody was welcoming all cc was welcome great night definitely recommend and definitely will be going back next Wednesday well done to all involved

I Went to a bike night there amazingly friendly staff beautiful bikes! There was a great ride out to Bournemouth beach had an amazing time. The burger was pretty nice too

My husband and I went for the sunday roast. We were not disappointed and all the food was lovely. All the staff were helpful and pleasant. We will definitely go again.

My husband and I ordered the steak pie. It was very tasty but both the meals were cold. My husband did mention this to the lad that picked up our plates, he was very apologetic. The worse thing though, was a particular customer at the bar, he was with some friends. He was very loud and his language was an absolutely a disgrace. Not one of the staff picked him up on this or told him to keep his voice down. It was a very disappointing visit in all, which is a shame, because we thought it was a family friendly pub, but we definitely couldn't bring our grandchildren here!

Staff very friendly,love a mid week platter and beer. Sunday carvery good as usual. Now things are getting back to near normal few more visits are coming.

Not all carveries are equal, some being stingy on the meat and cutting costs by using frozen vegetables. I'm pleased to say that The Master Builder isn't one of those and we really enjoyed our meals. There was a good choice of vegetables, the meat was nicely cooked and as important as anything else, the gravy was thick and tasty. Updated 7th April 24. Everything still really good, had a lovely carvery. Only downside the Yorkshire puddings were rubbery.

Lorraine the Landlady, Hubby and all the staff are amazing 👏 they were so supportive in assisting us in organising a retirement party for our friend, the conservatory was perfect and private, the buffet was outstanding and great value. All 25-30 of us all had such a wonderful time and nothing was too much trouble 👍 so a well deserved big thanks 😁

I went to the Master Builder with my family yesterday, the food itself was lovely and couldn't fault it, there was a few things which we weren't overly happy with, the table was particuarly sticky and just before i left i had a load of black marks all up the arm of my jumper from the table, also the highchairs we has were really sticky on the straps. When you go to get the food alot of the utensils have heat protecting sleaves on which is great, but the one which was used for the carrots was boiling as what it was covered in was a case with a zip, so the zip was boiling. Generally a nice pub, with good food, but just a few things that need sorting

Went for the Sunday Carvery. It was excellent. There were 4 different meats on offer. The vegetables were cooked lovely the food was hot. Very reasonably priced.

My Grandads wake was held here yesterday and it was the first time I have actually been in here. The buffet food that was provided was very nice, the surroundings were good and though it is not a Wetherspoons the prices were not too bad on the drinks. I would definately visit again.

The new management team (Jamie & Boo) is going back to traditional pub principles in getting to know new and existing customers. They're listening and finding out what is required to put the Master Builder back where it belongs as a community pub. The New Years Eve party that they put on seemed to be a success (we certainly enjoyed it), and we're now looking forward to sampling their new food menu in the coming weeks. We'll done!!

Booked a table for 9 for a family meal. We were welcomed by Boo and Jaime, the atmosphere was great all the staff were friendly and helpful. We all enjoyed our meals and we had a lovely evening. I was upset to leave as they had a singer who was great but we had the car. Next time we will leave the car at home !!! I would Highly recommend going to the master builders whether it's for a meal or just drinks.

What a fantastic proper Pub. Lovely Friendly Staff and Boo and Jaime are just the best hosts you can wish for. We had a really enjoyable evening there on Friday 15th December for the DELVIS Event. Clean & comfortable surroundings. Large car park. Friendly, welcoming staff. Menu choice a little limited but very well cooked & good size portions. Did have GF options.

Great place for Sunday carvery. Not too expensive, good quality and dogs allowed in. Probably best to book though.

Terrible service, lady/owner was very defensive and argumentative, cannot believe in 2023 when pubs are struggling they speak to their customers like that, word of mouth goes along way! Will not be going back there which is a shame because it’s very local to my family and friends, the 2 brothers it is!

This pub is my local and I stopped going there due to the attitude of the previous Landlord, which was horrendous! However, the pub has been taken over by a lovely couple called Boo and Jaime and they are wonderful hosts. Now when you walk in, you see friendly faces from all of the staff and nothing is too much trouble. They still have the delicious Carvery on a Sunday and a new menu through out the week. I can especially recommend the home made Steak Pie and also the Beer-Battered Fish and Chips (all cooked fresh and the fish was delicious). The atmosphere in the pub has now drastically changed for the better and it is a pleasure to go in there and always see smiling faces.

Every time I have been here since the new landlords have taken over I have had nothing but a positive experience. There have been events like Kareoke which have had a great atmosphere, excellent staff and lovely, friendly bar staff, especially Amy and Jamie. Have not yet tried the food but will definitely be back to try this!

Came in with family on a Friday night, luckily we had booked tables as the pub was packed. Food a basic menu (under new management, more to come) but well cooked and extremely good value. Service was excellent, atmosphere great. Will definitely return.

Came in for psychic night, stood at the bar waiting to be served the lady said they didn't give them any money for the room. Another person seemed to have foul language. Didn't come across as professional. The event had been changed to a Monday and they had barely any customers apart from people in for the event. Would be surprised if they can afford the overheads going forward on such a quiet evening, surely they must have made income from drinks people purchased for the event. Been going there for years and suddenly has been cancelled. Not sure if I would actually return.

The food was fine by one regret is that the roast potatoes are not roasted but I think deep fried this could be your letdown thank you

Having heard of this place being under new management ,I Booked this place for my sons 21st birthday October 17th 2023 ,with them providing full drinks/buffet/cake/dj/karoke. I have to say never having never been here before the atmosphere was fantastic for a Tuesday night. The staff were both welcoming,friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for making my sons 21st the night he wanted!!! The bar staff were both attentive and polite with no one being made to feel unwelcome, staff were quick to take and serve our drinks and there were no delays in providing the exception standard of food to our guests! And plenty of it!!! Overall all prices were better than i d expected and dj was both approachable, and happy to take requests at a moments notice too. This place was clean,tidy and pleasant to spend time in without feeling like an outsider ,truly everyone was fantastic. Personally i Only wish there were more places nearer to my home like this for a great family/night out! An Amazing time had by all attending...sending my compliments to the hardworking team/chef & kitchen staff for their tireless efforts to make everything so perfect....definitely will be attending again soon. 😀 Many thanks for everything .keep up the hard work.Your staff are a credit to you. New owners . Pub has been refurbished. Food good but really missing the pensioner set meals. Had an amazing night last week with live Music from Delvis. The place was rocking . Hopefully they will do more music events as West End need a buzzing place to go

Wasn't really impressed don't think we would go back again sorry potatoes bit hard meat was dry veg overcooked .

I had chicken burger and chips 1)food was under cook 2) waitress and manger was calling me a lier.when I brought it up about my food having no taste under cooked 3) chef doesn't doesn't know how to cook a meal .and has no people skills Very rude .likes to ignore her customer doesn't like to be wrong Also warned my meal up in a microwave 4 )food was not worth £13.99 Small buger and hand fall of chips 5)I now have food poisoning and in hospital on a drip. Due to chicken being reheated Bring back the old staff and management

We did not stay and eat as there was'nt an awfull lot on the 'chalk board' menu there wasnt a written menu to take to the table. I realise the new manager hasnt been there very long so i will go back again. The lad behind the bar didnt have any people skills and was very blunt. I really hope things improve.

This pub is under new management and just reopened. It all looks fresh and clean and smelling of new paint. Currently, the menu is very limited , fish and chips, ham and eggs, and burgers. Sunday lunch is available shortly. However food was of a good quality with friendly and approachable staff. Look forward to seeing a more varied menu shortly. All in all, a good start. I gave 2 stars for atmosphere as it's still very noisy, probably partly due to the location of eating in the bar area plus wood floors.

This guy has a military can do attitude for his cliental. Great beer and food too, what more could you ask for. UPDATE Now under new management! Amazing changearound with new management. Previously an OK place, now there is a vibrancy not experienced before. The decor has been tastefully done with a nice touch of old wood working tools adorning the walls. Yet to sample the food from the revised menu but from what I've seen of out going plates I can't wait to sample fully

We held my dad's wake here on 7th July. There was plenty of food and room. The atmosphere was nice too. Very reasonably priced. Will definitely go back another day for a meal.

Lovely staff and excellent home cooked food

Lovely hot food, had the all day breakfast it was huge and vert hot and only £8.50. Staff were friendly and helpful. Very nice friendly atmosphere.

Once you get past the homeless living in the car park to be greeted by an offensive very large man with a stinking attitude the only thing to do is not give them your custom

We are aware the gates don't open till 12 but to be greeted by a very unpleasant man very unpolite! We was waiting in the car park until it opened as we got there a little early but to be greeted like that I'll be taking my custom elsewhere I run a pub so I know too well what's it like but my professionalism and politeness remains in tact at all times if that's how he greets everyone it's a wonder he has any custom! Very disappointed

Held my dad's wake at the master builder April 24th.. Was a sad day but once we got to the pub we all relaxed, the food was already laid out & we had plenty of room. Great selection of food & a really good price.. Highly recommend. Have since had a great carvery on a Sunday, also lovely, great choice of meats & good price..

Our meals were delicious, best lasagne I've had out, my brother in law enjoyed his all day breakfast, especially the fried bread, hubby had fish and sister the pie, all brill!

Good motorhome stopover for ferry crossing, 15 mins from terminal. Landlord is really friendly, nothing to much trouble. Has food on a Sunday (carvery) 12 - 3pm. A little road noise during the day but quiet at night. Definitely use again.

Excellent food, welcoming patrons, fantastic service from the beautiful waitress (dark hair, oriental looks) only thing that lets this lovely pub down is the rude bull of a landlord! And we're a younger couple who have been in the pub game years! The landlord comes across as a vile, confrontational dingbat but hey ho! The rest of the guys are great so well done to his team! X

Great carvery & dished up by the Landlord. Not a huge place like the River Inn or Swan but a very nice pub with a good atmosphere & very nice carvery in a much less manic setting. Friendly staff too.

We stayed here last year will visiting family in Southampton, enjoyed a lovely Sunday carvery, the host was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return. EHU provided.

I've always disliked roast dinners in restaurants as they just never come close to a home cooked roast. The Master Builder changed that, their carvery roast was fantastic, fresh, delicious and so like a home cooked roast, huge credit to the chef 👏👏 reasonably priced and luckily for us only a few minutes walk 🍻🍻

My friends and I had a great time over lunch at the Master Builder. A great space, and friendly staff, together with good beer.

Nice place, decently priced and not very crowded. Work outings can be held here with no problem, they've got some classic bar-games as well. Went here on a few occasions and always seems to be a good choice. Food selection and quality is okay, small menu but you can always settle with something you'll enjoy.

Rubbish for lunchtime menus, can't even order a decent steak and chips!,and I had been looking forward to it for 2 weeks!. No wonder it was half empty. Never again, that's for sure!.

Had a buffet for a small wake. Generous spread well priced. Very light on salad and greenery but otherwise fine. Reasonable drinks prices. Good surroundings.
