Massala Express Ltd in Lewes

We almost lost all faith in takeaway curries in seaford...the last few places we've tried and been expensive and awful so gave up...we thought we'd have one last go...and massala didn't disappoint! We had the set menu and there was more than enough, all hot, big chunks of meat...honestly couldn't fault a thing....you have just gained 2 more customers and restored our faith in the curry takeaway 😀....its a yes from us!

Ordered tonight through their website, I called them after an hour and they said they havnt received payment even though it has gone through (currently fighting for refund). Guys on the phone wants to learn how to speak to women with respect as he was shouting over my partner as she was talking. He said we ain't loyal customers as we have only ordered 10 times

Great food, very friendly staff and reasonably priced

Me and my wife don't have curry often, having a take out is a treat for us.... And we tend to eat the same dishes... We weren't disappointed, absolutely lovely, full of taste, decent portions.... Feeling stuffed, as we kept on eating as our mouths said carry on as it tasted so good, with bellies screaming 'no more'.......Thank you Massala Express for our dinner.... It was so good.

We have been using Masala Express for many years however this evening have been extremely disappointed. My curry was tasteless. I have never been so disappointed with a take away curry before. I had 3 dishes that tasted exactly the same, each as tasteless as the last. Very disappointed and am not sure I would risk going there again sadly.

UPDATE Had an order 2 weeks ago and think the chef has changed. The food was excellent again after an average few months. Ordering again today so hope he is still there! I used to use Shahjahan before they closed so I tried Moon of India twice which was bland on both occasions. Now had 3 meals from Massala Express and the food has been excellent. Tried them in the past but was disappointed. Chef must have changed. Service is friendly and timing about 45 mins for delivery. Priced reasonably and decent portion sizes. My go to now unless it changes.

Asked for a slightly hotter and reduced sauce vindaloo and the results were spectacular perfect will be my go to order from now on.

The best Indian takeaway locally at time of writing. Update: we were given a voucher for the viceroy and went there for twice because of it, just had another from the Masala guys.... amazing same price but with 4 free poppadoms and a sag aloo thrown in for good measure. Worlds apart on quality and quantity 👌

Masala express has been our go to Indian in the Seaford area for years now. They are consistently the best, lovely service, very reasonable, large portions and on medium / large orders we always find they have thrown in complimentary vegetable sides which is always such a lovely gesture. 10/10

First time using this takeaway , service was good delivery was good food was lovely and hot , just one point the lamb was a bit chewy but was lovely apart from that . Will use again , many thanks .

Just moved to Seaford from Woking. Our first takeaway last Sunday after the move was a great surprise. Lovely food and generous portions and very reasonably priced. Another takeaway this Sunday was just as good and generous. Definitely value for money and delicious food.

So sometimes when you go to a curry house things start to blur and taste the same not here oh it’s lovely everything taste different and fresh. Generous portion sizes and excellent quality - pineapple bhaji is an excellent and unusual side did I love!

You just can’t get a good curry in Seaford anymore, and there used to be loads to choose from! Had a Chicken Tikka Masala and it was just a tasteless Korma with red colouring. My friends had passable meals but if you can’t make a Masala sauce and your restaurant is called Masala Express you have failed.

We always use to enjoy our food from here ! Our last meal was not as should have been . When complained we was offered the same dish next time for free . Same dish came still. Not RIght and only discounted £6 on a £9 dish ! We order at lest once a week is this how you treat your customers? We won’t be coming back

Great prices, great staff and great food.

Always come piping hot and well cooked. Can be a bit of a wait for delivery to arrive but its worth it. They are always happy to help over the phone if you have ordered through a delivery app. The only thing I can say not so good is that the last few I've had, the food as been more spicy than I expected. Those I usually have elsewhere are a bit much for me. Still - best curry house around the area.

We thought we would try Massala again, when we last had a takeaway the chicken and flavour was very nice, but found it very watery, was very disappointed to that our meal was again very watery

Having used ME regularly in the past, was very disappointed with our take-away order yesterday. Not only is rice not included with main dishes any more, an additional £1 has been added to all of the menu items. The onion bahjees did not come with pickle or salad/onion. We understand that these are difficult times for the restaurant trade and have tried to support ME throughout the pandemic, but do not appreciate being ripped off. Our usual order increased by 35% which is way above inflation + they pocket the extra VAT from the Government concession.

Dreadful service ..waited over an hour past expected delivery time for soggy poppadoms and few bits of chicken floating in sauce aka chicken korma. When I called to enquire where food was, they couldn't care less. I was told what do I want them to do.. expec

Why have we not ordered from Masala Express before??? We had a take a way delivered on Thursday and it was the best we have had in a long long time.....delivered hot.....fresh and very tasty...full of flavour.....I requested my Kori came with extra fresh chilli and it was just how I like it all portions were large.....Onion Bhajis were full of flavour crispy on the outside.....all the dishes we're authentic and we were delighted to have finally found a decent indian take a way....we also were given a free side dish....staff on the phone were polite and helpful and the delivery driver was also polite and friendly....Thank you 😋

Simply the best. Vegetable Samba is sublime. The owner does not like anyone to go hungry. Unlike similar takeaways the food is not drowning in oil. Highly recommended.

Absolute disgrace, placed and order, 1.5hrs wait. Order not delivered on time, phoned after two hours only to be told it would be another half an hour. Didn't really seemed bothered when I phoned just said we are busy. I won't be using them again. The meal eventually arrived 3 hours after being ordered

I used to use Shahjahan before they closed and was concerned that Massala Express would not be as good, just had my second meal and the food was really great and the staff friendly, now looking forward to my next one.

Been using this place when ever I'm in Seaford. Highly recommend the biryani and tandoori chicken

Has there been a change in management in the last 12 months or so? Last few orders have been disapointing. Will order elsewhere next time.

Well I have given this place all the chances to prove me wrong but on every order they have failed. Food on delivery terrible. Cold , crusted container's , wrong orders. Other night been at hospital all day. 9 at night ordered. I was told I would have to wait for an hour but didn't care and put in the order. The food came out within 30 min's WOW GREAT. Then we opened the bag and all I could see was my nan bread and two bags of chips !!. When we removed said items will all we could see was two crushed tin containers and a plastic bag full of sauce. Phoned up and told them what I have found and to pick it up and I would like a new order and then the I was fired on with ever time you order you complain !!!!!? WOW. Well my response was. Fine OK them you take your food put the money back in the bank. There response to this was to send out a new order with brand new containers ?????. I have been all over the world and love food. I have been doing review's for trip advisor for about 5 years and have always given food places chance to prove me wrong. This place is all wrong staff you can't understand , rude and offensive responses , the total lack of customer care. I would not recommend this place at all and I have given this place every chance to prove me wrong.

The achari sauce (we have it with the chicken option) is DIVINE!! Never disappoints.

Absolute idiots phone answered by a guy who was just giggling couldn't understand what I wanted as he couldn't stop laughing. I hang up he calls back we try again by he keeps trying to funny if we ask for a rice he says oh you want a rice again when ordering curry so I said don't worry forget about it he then continued to call me back 4 times and just acted like an idiot. I told him I didn't want to order now he kept saying address please it was painful was once a loyal customer but seems in the 6 months since we used it they have employed some idiots

First time ordering from Massala Express tonight, but it'll be the last. Very disappointed in the food, most of it was lukewarm at the time of delivery, with items missing. The restaurant rectified the forgotten items, but the quality of food overall was incredibly poor. Not worth the calories!

Excellent Chinese takeaway. A while ago we placed a very large order and the owner was on hand to check it over. No mistakes and all 14 of us commented that the food was fab. Well done.

I’ve used Massala Express on a few occasions and on the most part they have been pretty good. Today however, I ordered via there website which stated 45minute delivery time. An hour after making the order I phoned up to be advised they were running behind and would be a further 15minutes. Half an hour later the food arrived. Whilst most of the items ordered were correct, one item was completely wrong, therefore we had one disappointed guest. Food was Ok,... but nothing special. Therefore overall I was somewhat disappointed with the food and the service I received on this occasion.

Been happy with these until tonight, .5 hours from ordering and we get the food after a phone call to chase it up where they told us 5-10 minutes then still took 40minutes from then. Was very watery and rushed.

Recent takeaway for twenty people, food was delivered piping hot on time and there were a few free dishes added to the order. Everyone enjoyed the food, thanks for a great service.
