The food and atmosphere was lovely. Unfortunately huge set back, staff asked multiple times for water which didn't come until the main meal. When asked if the butter chicken contained cashews or almonds, the waiter said almonds and would check, after confirming we ordered. Just after dinner my partner had an allergic reaction to the curry as it did actually contain cashews...

As a veteran of very many Curry houses over the last 30 years from Newcastle to Plymouth, believe me I have had some truly nightmare experiences. I have also had some fabulous meals! Well, all I can say is that Masooms in Wantage are now up there with the best food I’ve ever had! I will not go into great detail, but believe me when I say you will NOT be disappointed! Thanks Mason and the team for a HOT night, my son was frankly blown away by the special Naga Lamb!!!!

Visited yesterday (early on a Friday evening). Exceptional food. Sumptuous selection of vegetarian dishes (as well as meat). Highly recommend. Have had takeaway from here many times before so knew it was going to be great but it was nice to sit in the restaurant for a change this time. Friendly and attentive staff. Thank you 😊

What a great Indian restaurant. Very welcoming and good service. The restaurant itself was nicely and tastefully decorated. The food was excellent, with "real" lime pickle and not the jar of chutney type that is all too often found these days. My main was the Seafood Bhuna as recommended by the chef. The seafood was cooked perfectly, the squid, the prawns, just right. Overall, a very nice visit. Highly recommended.

Recommended by hotel staff. Service was amazing and had great atmosphere, the food, however didn't warrant the price. It was ok but just not special enough for such a high price tag.

This place is a gem. Moved to Wantage about 18 months ago and have gradually worked my way around the pubs and eateries of the town. Got to Masooms recently and have 3 meals in quick succession. Each time has been fantastic. The food is extremely well cooked and presented and the portion sizes not leaving you bloated. I find the food somehow "lighter" than other similar restaurants. Definitely now regulars.

I was on a business trip. I found the restaurant by chance. Fantastic food & great atmosphere. Also, Denis is a great waiter you can ask his advice for food!

Excellent meal and very good value for money. The food was superb. The establishment was very clean and the staff very attentive. The portions are slightly bigger than other Indian restaurants in the area. Fist time I've eaten there but I will definitely go back again.

We had a Friday evening meal for two and the food and service was excellent. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. The chicken Nazakat was the star of the show - delicate flavours but rich and buttery. We will definitely be visiting again soon!

I took the team out for a meal and we decided to try Masoom's having already been to House of Spice a few times and it turned out to be a great decision. Excellent food & service and reasonably priced. I would recommend the King Prawn Madras and Duck Jalfrezi.

We were staying in the area for a few days so decided to go out for dinner. We came across this lovely Indian restaurant and as we enjoy a curry we decided to go in. We had a lovely evening and the food was excellent. Service was very good and the staff were attentive and friendly couldn't fault it. The cost was reasonable too. Will certainly go there again when we are in the area.

I travel all over the uk. And love indian food this is up there in my opinion with the best ever eaten and service was great relly good atmosphere will definatly be back thanks masooms

1 star rating for a terrible experience - this is not reflective of any food as we didn't eat any. We arrived at 7:45 and left 1 hour later and never received entrees during this time. Upon arrival, it took a while to receive service after being gestured to our table. We ordered our food and were explicit about no coriander as garnish as a member of our party can't have it. After nearly 1 hour wait our first entree arrived covered in coriander and we immediately said we requested no coriander. When the waiter took the dish back to the kitchen, he kicked multiple chairs and walls out of frustration. At this point we left. We offered to pay for the wine we drank during this hour we waited and were told not to worry. In fairness, the food we saw served to others looked good but front of house needs a lot of work and likely staff. Whether understaffed or not, this dining experience was completely unacceptable and unpleasant as diners.

Have been a customer of the Goring Masooms for 6 years. Was excited to know this was the same group when I recently moved to Wantage. Had 2 average takeouts in terms of flavour. Tonight was the third visit and was appalling. Firstly was told 40 mins for takeaway. Arrived after 40 minutes and then waited 30 minutes for the food to come. Secondly I ordered a Chicken Bhuna and a Chicken Jalfrezi - got home and they’d given me a Chicken Tikka Masala and a Lamb Jalfrezi, which was a bit of an issue as my wife has a dairy allergy so couldn’t have the tikka masala and the lamb was inedible. Seriously considering trying another Indian in Wantage going forward

We were very regular customers of massooms but the food tonight was not edible. The king prawn purées to start with was not great and nothing like they were on our last visit, but we ate them and did not want to complain. The biriyaninain just tasted of pepper as did the vindaloo. The aubergine just tasted of salt. We were served completely flat Diet Coke from a bottle that had clearly been open for some time and also served the incorrect rice to start with. We only ate a couple of spoons of the aubergine and the meat out of the vindaloo but none of the sauce. Nothing else was eaten and it ruined our night. That is the good part of this review! When we complained we were given the full bill with no apologies. We then asked to see the owner who came over and told us there is nothing wrong with our food and started shouting at us in his restaurant. He then took a small amount of money off our bill and not anywhere near enough to cover all the food that went back. I can now see why the restaurant is empty with no other customers. When we told the owner we would never come back again, he then threatened to withdraw any discount. I really do not know how this restaurant is still in business and they should be really embarrassed about the quality of food and the way we have been unbelievably treated We will never visit again and I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I will recommend the Elaichi in grove in future

Incredible food, value, and service. Quick too. The food was better than any I have had in a year in India. A beautifully fluffy and fragrant rice with eggplant and Panere cheese as well as a similar asparagus and cheese dish. Gluten free ofcourse. Superb. If there were 6 stars I would use them. The desert was a rice pudding unlike any had before. Arromatoc Cloves intercept the flavor of sweet rice pudding and soon polished lemon ice cream emerges from the warm layers. 😋

Disappointed with service and quality of food to be honest. Ordered a takeaway to collect, but was told it’d take over an hour. Once I’d got it home I was missing my bread and to be honest the curries lacked much flavour. Shame as I’ve had better curries from here in the past.

Had a really enjoyable meal here last night. Delicious food and well presented. I had a takeaway before but never ate in. A few minor issues- the two-tops are too crowded for eating. Flowers and candles and condiments leave no room for eating. Please rein back on these. You don’t need them, the atmosphere is nice enough without fake flowers and giant candleholders. The bread was delayed meaning our mains were less than hot when we got to start. As we were the only diners I am not sure if maybe they were forgotten. Lastly, please stop asking when we wanted our food. Starters then mains. Is this unusual? I get a big table that is sharing everything might have a different plan but please some make this more complex than it needs to be. I had King Prawn Achari which was a taste sensation. Partner had lamb which was also delicious.

Food was good but atmosphere was terrible, the waiters were rude and the owner tried to con us into paying over £100 extra on the bill…. won’t be going back again :(

Lovely food but unfortunately we had to stand outside for an hour waiting for our takeaway. When we phoned the order through the guy was answering another phone as well. A 45 min wsit for our order turned into 1hr 50ins ☹

Excellent takeaway last, all food fantastic, such wonderful flavours, and I am someone who usually avoids Indian food. Loved it, and my husband just had the leftovers for breakfast.

Masooms is amazing place to eat at the restaurant and to use as take away. When you eat in or have take away the food is amazing and the staff is always extremely helpful and kind! We ordered take away for 14 people, the order placement was easy and the food was amazing!!! We will do it again! Always lovely atmosphere! Magda

A nice inidan restaurant. Very good atmosphere .The lamb biriyani is awesome. Booking is not usually required. This restaurant will give u the exp of candle light dinner with soothing indian music.

What a fantastic meal. A little disappointed with the starter, all good by not wow. The main course was WOW and much better than expected. A really special curry. I will definitely be back. Spot on!! The decor was very modern and the staff very attentive.

Above average Indian food - which it needs to be given there's 2 other Indian restaurants in Wantage. The pickles and poppadoms were pretty standard as was the naan bread. But the curry itself (I had a prawn bhuna) was full of flavour and not too spicy. Just a shame the restaurant was too warm. I'll be back though.

The best Bangladeshi restaurant in the area. We had the seafood bhuna which had a very good depth of flavour, pilau rice beautifully fragrant, a couple of veg dishes again wonderfully fragrant and an excellent light fluffy naan. Very good portions, couldn't finish it all. Excellent service from friendly staff.

Love this place. The best Sikandari Lamb I’ve ever had. Amazing.

sheekh kebab starter was very smelly as though the meat had gone off, veg samosa is bought in and not cooked from scratch. I sometimes feel that if local restaurants had a smaller menu they could give more home cooked options. We left without ordering any main dish. One of the staff was drinking alcohol behind the bar and we could smell it on his breath when he was talking to us. Such a shame really.

We love this place. They have a few, one in Goring in particular. We were so pleased when they opened on wantage. Great service and they treat regular customers very well. Great selection and specialities. Highly recommended.
