Best fish and chips and on a par with Devon. Excellent. Friendly team. Weekly treat and drive from Abingdon as they are the best. Deserve award. Can't praise enough. Delicious and lovely team too

Great fish, chips, mushy peas and friendly serving staff - Just don't expect any goodwill from the shop's Manager! Lunchtimes are busy and genuine mistakes with orders can occur (such as a missing pot of mushy peas in my case); however, it's how they're handled afterwards, which really counts. As a genuine customer I thought the Manager was impersonal, dismissive and short-sighted. There was neither any gesture of goodwill, to rectify a previous incomplete order, nor was a simple apology/admission of error forthcoming. The one 'blob' rating therefore summarises today's experience.

Absolutely love this place friendly staff amazing food always a favourite - I live in Botely its a real treasure of a chippy - curry sauce is amazing:) free parking at westway car park.

We had a wonderful fish and chips this evening and will definitely be back, the welcome was friendly and the team were really quick with our order. The fish was beautiful and really impressed with how thick/flakey it was. The batter was crispy and not oily and the chips were very nice too. Really appreciated the friendliness of the team, worth the trip from Kingston Bagpuize and will be back!

I ordered once and ordered the hot wings and cheesy chips. Wings is basically frozen chicken wings you would get from Iceland. Chips were dry and not fresh and cheese not even melting onto chips because it wasn't hot enough. Tried it a second time, and got a bbq chicken with cheesy chips. Again chicken dehydrated, chips rock solid hard and not fresh, cheese also not even melted again once I got home. I asked for it to be cooked fresh too but was told the potatoes weren't in season. I recommend Mediterranean fish bar! much worth the journey.

I rarely eat fish and chips and I was blown away at the quality of this shop. Great, quick service where the staff knew exactly what they were doing. Friendly, polite and again FAST.

Excellent experience here today. Chicken burger and chips. The staff were so nice and helped explain some detail about a food being ordered. I was not expecting the presentation in the box for a chicken burger & chips but was pleasantly surprised. The food is defo good quality, excellent chicken burger and great chips, not oily soggy tasteless like some other places. They were also right about the stokes mayo! it is a great mayo! A refreshing change to some recent experiences elsewhere.

Best fish and chip shop in Oxford this has been our number one for long while now and hope it stays that way. Fish taste absolutely amazing you can tell it isn’t that’s rubbish stuff you get elsewhere only thing is the chips do taste a tad dry but at least they are not dripping in oil so that’s a good thing look forward for next time!

Amazing chip shop run by an amazing team. All food cooked fresh whilst you wait - always cater for you. Recommend the pizzas. New curry sauce is also a 10/10. Staff are super friendly!

Best fish and chips I've had in years. As vegetarians we don't often choose the chip shop so it was our first time trying Harrison's. There is always a queue outside the door and I can see why. Chips are crispy and not greasy, really good. Expected usual mushy vegetables burger that chip shops always use but it was great to have a good meat free chicken burger instead! Made the low price even better ✌️ will be back! (We ordered online for pick up)

I’ve been using Harrison’s chip shop since it opened weekly or fortnightly I’ve always been very pleased It’s very good with lots of choices.

Unfortunately I was shortchanged after paying for two large battered sausages, but receiving two small. The odd thing is that on receiving the order I was told they didn't have any large sausages and that they had put two small in instead - and I was then asked if that was OK.. I (perhaps foolishly) assumed they were doubling up on the small to compensate for the lack of large that I had paid for - but lo and behold, I got home to find I had indeed received two small sausages. Not a huge amount of money, but I was a tad miffed! The saving grace was that the chips were lovely and the sausages were great (despite stunted size).

Best fish and chips in Oxford. I’ve had the haddock, cod and hake. All are good but the haddock is best. The portions are generous and the staff are friendly and efficient.

January 2024 Review newest review: Still an issue with the chips not being freshly fired. They're left in the heat bin which makes them dry, crisp, yet hot. In the most recent visit. I asked them, just I was instructed by Ryan Harrison - to just let them know to request freshly fried chips. He wasn't there. The lady looked miffed at the request and reluctantly agreed. We were served two lots of large chips which were not freshly fried. They were dry, and crisp. Not fluffy centred. Everything else was fine. Firstl review: THIS is how Fish & Chips should be made. Made to order, hot fresh and satisfyingly crisp. Fish is the real deal! Not the unnamed horrid stuff masquerading as cod or haddock. Curry sauce is okay, not as good as a real katsu, the likes of which I've found in some London chippies. Off the Hook should intern here to learn how REAL chips with all the accompaniments are made! Second review update: I had rated the chippy on a later visit down a notch to 3 stars as I felt the quality of their chips hadn't been the same as previous visits. I received a friendly and helpful message from Mr Harrison himself asking me to mention any disappointment at the time or future visits so that they can help. Well, I went back, more recently, a few months after my last visit. I requested that the chips be fried fresh for me, and not placed in the heat bin. They did exactly that. They were fresh, fluffy and steaming hot! Knowing my diet, he also fried the king prawns separately. Let me tell you, they were delicious. They were wolfed down by our little one! Thank you for staying true to your promise, Harrisons, and always delivering service with a smile!

Wow, seriously good fish and chips. We just moved here, and so far, this is the best fish and chips in Oxford. I had cod.

Just had 2 cod chips and mushy peas, glad we had small portions as plenty enough. Batter very lite and cooked to order. Said we were not local and staying for night to see a show. Gave us all the info on the bridge having work done and need to take a bit of extra time to get to theatre. Thank you

Down in Oxford for a couple of days and after arriving mid-wednesday evening was desperate for some food after a 5-hour drive. Saw the reviews for this place so gave it a punt. Harrison's certainly lived up to reports - freshly cooked and exceptional fish and chips, and without doubt amongst the best I've ever had. Next time I'm in Oxford I'll be back!

We had a large order for 24 Scouts & leaders. Ryan was very accommodating and able to manage our needs brilliantly having spoken to him before placing the order. The food tasted great, with large portions. We had some very happy Scouts! Thank you!

I am a regular at this place since it opened and love the food. However, last night it was disappointing with oven chips, not proper chips. Hope it was a one off, if not, then no more of my custom!

Thank you Google for suggesting here! Just what I needed after a long day at work. Still frying fresh chips even at 8pm on a Wednesday with a small queue. Really enjoyed the food and you can sit outside in the next door shopping centre.

I wasn't impressed by cod and chips. Cod tasted a bit bland and chips could use a bit more salt. Curry sauce somehow made it worse. On the other hand, the place looks spotless, and overall atmosphere is pretty nice.

A little on the pricier side but it's because it's because it's a better product. Scraps were crazily greasy though - probably the only downside I could think of

We were a bit disappointed unfortunately! We've recently moved to the area and been a bit underwhelmed on the 2 occasions we've been to Harrisons. Yesterday's chips gave me the vibe they'd been refried - they were dry, and as they started to cool they went rock solid and unpleasant, we threw half of them away. The batter on the fish felt really under seasoned and I ended up cutting it off and just eating the fish inside (which was lovely). On a more positive note the shop is really pretty and the staff are always lovely and welcoming.

Delicious fish and chips. Find this shop on Google maps and tried because of the good reviews it has. Not disappointed. The gravy was also good, worth ordering to complement the fish&chips. I tried adding a dollop of Sriracha sauce and ooooh! โคตรดี :)

After many years of trying to find a decent fish and chip shop finally oxford gets one. This place is amazing. Friendly staff great food, the fish is light and crispy how it should and plenty of flavour. Even the curry sauce isn't the usual rubbish. And Ryan great job cooking man 😉 Keep it up guys 😁

I occasionally pop into Harrison's for a bit of cod if I'm passing. The quality has been consistently excellent - succulent, tasty fish that's perfectly cooked in light and crisp batter. Portion sizes appear a little variable, prices aren't bargain basement but reasonable given the pitiful state of the economy and how hard chippies in particular have been hit by rising energy costs. Staff have always been friendly and welcoming while I was impressed by the provision of recyclable / biodegradable (largely card and wood) packaging and cutlery. Highly recommended and well worth the trip out to Botley given the dearth of decent fish and chip shops in other parts of the city.

Really good food made with a good attitude from super polite staff! They have a lot of options you don't usually get here. I had butterfly King prawns. Other options are: - Battered pigs in blankets - scampi - calamari - whitebait You can get in with a wheelchair. It's a takeaway and they have delivery so not an eat in place.

Last Monday of the month is GF day. Amazing. The wife sends me down with a huge order and the food is fresh, hot and very tasty. Staff are wonderful and seeing how busy they are, very patient and professional. Cannot fault them at all.

Easily the best fish and chips in Oxford. Not too much batter, good portions, and they use cardboard containers, not plastic. (Would be good to move to paper wrapping instead, the food is the main thing!)

Awesome halal chicken burger, with other halal options. Strongly recommend this friendly establishment.

Great staff. Fish wasn’t very hot. But it was MEGA EXPENSIVE! £14.45 for “large cod” and small chips. 😤 £7.80 for large cod and chips in Maidenhead. 🫣

I've eaten from here a number of times and the fish and chips are always great. Traditional chip shop sides all available and yummy: we usually get mushy peas and curry sauce. I'm not such a fan of saveloy but sausages, pies, burgers etc all available too. For two adults, we find two small/regular pieces of fish and one large chips, with a couple of sides, is plenty of food even when we're really starving after a day out walking. I also enjoyed their pizza a lot, although my wife wasn't such a fan (apparently reminded her of school dinner pizza?). It's satisfyingly-greasy takeaway pizza, more American style than Italian - a matter of personal taste I suppose. One thing to note, service here is relatively slow for a chip shop: expect to wait 10 mins, maybe a little more, for a simple order of fish and chips for 1 or 2 people. It is worth the wait, and you can order ahead via their website.

Had gluten free cod and chips last night. The best I’ve ever had - better than Rick Stein. I’d love to know how you achieved such great batter - it was perfectly crispy and light. Highly recommend to anyone whether coeliac or not!!

Quality is perfectly acceptable for a takeaway (I do not mean that as a put down, this is a chippy not a high class restaurant!) but the prices are extremely high for this area, made me feel like central London. Response: I'm impressed by the speed of reply! I will judge & adjust my score as I visit more places in and around, but I acknowledge that Oxfordshire is ridiculously expensive for some things...

If you're looking for somewhere to eat in this area you definitely need to stop here. I had great fish and chips one day and burger and sausage the other. The portions were sufficient and freshly prepared. Very friendly staff.

Absolutely beautiful food! Second time ordering F&C for the family and it didn’t disappoint. Ordering online for collection through their website is super easy and when collecting, the staff was lovely. Extremely good service given and care goes into every order. Yes, it might be slightly “pricier” but it’s so, so worth it. I will always support a small, family run local business! Specially when there are no faults. See you soon!

Today large cod was £10.90. Large chips was £4.20 and you can see what a “large chips” is in the picture. I dread to think what the small looks like. It’s okay quality and friendly staff, but it’s not sustainable portions at these prices, and that’s a sad fact of inflation. Cod was £5.50 less than a year ago. Haddock today was £6.90 or so. Only chippy for miles around so it should survive, but can’t give it 5 stars like I would have done early last year at these absurd prices. If you’ve got to make savings, pass on this one.

We had f&c a few months after opening, on a Friday evening We live locally and I was so excited we had a shop near us again. I thought a Friday would be a good bet. Sadly not. I am a massive fish and chip fan. My family would testify to this. The fish was a small or medium size x2. Not at all fresh (tricky inland and impossible) The chips overwhelming and not a recent fry. I will give it another, as this might have been a one off. My rule of thumb is. If you have a wait for the food after placing the order, it's the best in terms of freshness and quality.

Great fish and chips and sausages etc, nice and fast and great customer service! The burgers are not the typical burger you would expect from f&c shop and wasnt great, no phone number to make an order before going, but other than that fantastic :)

We went for a treat at 6.30pm on a Friday night and they had already run out of cod. We chose scampi instead that was totally over cooked. The portions aren't like the normal enormous portions of most other fish and chip shops and the prices are comparatively high. Not really recommended, although the servers were good.
