A 16th Century pub. It is quirky and rambling. Our room was well appointed and prepared giving a comfortable night. A lovely overnight stay. Great value for money.

We're locals, we love the masons arms. Unfortunately, during the first couple of minutes of our last visit - we were greeted awfully, rude language, very unpolite behaviour from the bar tender. He had no time for us whatsoever. A party of 5, we asked to sit for drinks outside on a Thursday evening in early April during the good weather. We were turned away as it was too busy for food. We asked if he knew what time they stopped serving food down the road, and we're met with "you've got a phone havnt you, I'm not an encyclopedia". In disbelief we thought we may have started on the wrong foot. Instead the response was "It's a Thursday night, look behind you, we're busy". We said we were locals who come in a few times a month and he said " I'm local, so what?". We asked to speak to a manger and he said he's not available. Furthermore, we only live down the road and had cycled in that evening for a beer, as a group of locals who usually enjoy a beer and dinner here, I'm sorry, but we won't be coming back in a hurry. An utter disgrace, shameful. Common courtesy costs nothing, especially in a hospitality setting. Do better

Beautiful meal, great views and our waitress (Grace I think was her name) was so friendly and helpful. Dog friendly too.

2nd stay at the Masons Arms and equally as good on all fronts. Lovely place to base yourselves for exploring the Lakes. Will definitely go back. Thanks again to David and the team

Visit for Sunday dinner! This was a very disappointing meal. Expectations were high as previous visits have been good. Unfortunately, all 5 of us did not enjoy our meals. The roast dinners had undercooked vegetables with no seasoning on carrots or parsnips, the nut roast was not very tasty and just disappointing and there was a very small portion of gravy. We asked for 2 more jugs and were given one. The veggie burger was not a ready made one and very underwhelming. The ribs were a bit burnt unfortunately. The whole meal was disappointing as we booked due to our previous brilliant experience of the restaurant. These concerns were politely passed on to wait staff and were not reflected in the bill. We felt reluctant to pay the full prices for meals that were not enjoyable. Not rushing back.

Great pub grub and the location is ideal - a glorious view from upstairs tables. Staff were very friendly. Was perfect for gluten free options too!

Stunning hotel. Staff, rooms and views were brilliant. Food was the only downside. Could have been more upmarket. Would 100% recommend staying here or walking here for a pint.

Just back from our third visit to the Masons. Always our go to when visiting the area. Great little place, good atmosphere, lovely rooms, comfortable and clean, great breakfast and evening meal and friendly efficient staff. Would highly recommend.

Food, drinks, location, accommodation and even the weather were all great. The views are exceptional.

We stopped for Sunday lunch here on the way to Bowness. It was fantastic. A really lovely, old, pub. Lots of original features and amazingly good food. The staff were very stretched but kind and attentive still. Loved it.

Didn't stay just went for lunch. Glad we did the food was perfect and pub very cosy.

Did not reserve a table on a Tuesday, but booked full from 5:30 pm and no space whatsoever for walkins, with a visibly tired and hungry child. Could even get past the doormat when we were rudely turned out again.

We loved the place, were greeted and served well. The menu was appealing and the wines were good.

Lovely pub been a few times in the past so was really looking forward to bringing a friend here! However was completely let down - went in and immediately had two very unpleasant interactions with two different male members of staff. Completely rude and unwelcoming. We walked straight back out - no pub is that nice to make me want to stay in that environment!

This is the fourth time we’ve visited this establishment which speaks for itself. A perfect location to relax in. The staff provide an excellent service. The food is beautifully prepared and served hot. The rooms are cost and cleaned to a high standard.

A perfect place for a peaceful get away just me and my dog. Everyone was so friendly and as a woman travelling alone I felt really comfortable. The local area is beautiful and full of walks and is very quiet. Food both in the evening and at breakfast was lovely and well catered for my vegan diet. Strawberry Bank suite was really comfortable, overall a lovely stay

Andy the manager was amazing. Hats off to him ! Food was incredible And the service was even better. I’d happily recommend or come here again what a delightful experience.

The Mason's Arms has always been one of my favorite eateries, but unfortunately, our small family group had a very disappointing Sunday roast lunch yesterday. We each chose a different roast—beef, turkey, and gammon—but all shared similar thoughts: the beef was chewy and tough, the turkey was underwhelming, and the gammon/beef combination failed to impress. What surprised me most was the roast potatoes—they were hard and tasteless. Surely, any chef should be able to prepare a delicious roast, and perfectly cooked roast potatoes should be a given! While we’ve enjoyed good meals here before and the staff, especially the lovely female server, were as friendly as ever, we all agreed that we wouldn’t return for Sunday lunch. It’s such a shame, especially as this was a rare family outing. P.S. No one asked if we had enjoyed our meal—otherwise, we would have shared this feedback directly.

We found this place by accident while put looking for something for lunch. It's a beautiful cosy pub that also does accommodation. There was a fire in the bar area making it very cosy. There were quite a few people coming in as we were at our table. There were just 2 members of staff greeting people, showing them to their tables, taking drinks and food orders, serving the food, taking payments from quests who were leaving. It was clear that they were understaffed, but the service was absolutely amazing and with a smile....there was a really good feel to the place. The food was delicious and the menu had a great choice.

We recently stayed here for a 50th wedding anniversary celebration. It couldn't have been more perfect, from the location with its breathtaking views, friendly staff, warm atmosphere, great food and drinks and especially the fact they make dogs so welcome too. The rooms were beautiful, clean and just a joy to be in. The waitress blew my mind by remembering all of our meal orders (8 in total) for dinner without writing it down! The food was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection. In the morning we had breakfast which was gorgeous. A selection of cereals, croissants, juices and then a cooked breakfast. We had 2 dogs with us and they were given the option to have a sausage for breakfast, which was cut up and in a bowl each. All in all a perfect get away. We would all highly recommend visiting, especially for a nights stay. Thank you team, we will be back!

Very nice food and overall experience. However I found the scotch egg could have more seasoning and the sausage n mash had too much mustard in it.

Wow, what an amazing place, this place is 1000% a hidden gem, the food is is absolutely incredible with an amazing view !!! There food hygiene rating is 5 and they make you feel very welcome, do not miss out on this pub, you will regret it.

Although we didn’t stay at Mason Arms I can vouch for the food being incredible. A group of 4 were over the moon with all of our dishes and also the service we received from the lovely mihaela. My personal favourite were the ribs & Chicken supreme.

A stunning country pub in the most beautiful location. We rented one of the cottages which was well furnished. The highlights were the food and service both of which were excellent. Staff very friendly and able to provide advice - including from where they got their pies! (Which we’ve subsequently bought!!)

Had a fantastic Sunday dinner here it was one of the best I've ever had 😋 very tasty and filling and will try the pie 🥧 😋 next time !! The service was on point and extremely friendly couldn't do enough for you !! The place is one-off my favourites and can't wait till next time

Wonderful overnight stay for me and my little girl we were made very welcome. The room was great with views of the hills and sheep. Our dog was welcomed and loved having his own sausage for breakfast. We cant wait to come back. Thank you. Sunday roast was amazing!

Wonderful pub, great atmosphere, had a very tasty meal here at the end of a family camping trip - just what we needed! Cosy in the rain and stunning views when the sun came out. Well-kept lovely old building and friendly staff. Will definitely return, for a meal or for an overnight stay sometime.

Called to ask if we needed to book, they said we could eat outside - drove 40 mins to get there and when we arrived they said “the hub” had got it wrong, whatever that is, and told us they couldn’t help.

Staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgable, food was restaurant standard, the beer/wine was lovely, the overnight stay was in well appointed rooms, breakfast was very tasty, all in all exceptional.

Called in for an early evening meal. The staff were lovely and welcoming... two ladies serving at front of house. Cosy relaxed atmosphere with great food..really wholesome and tasty.We had the steak and ale pie encased in short crust pastry and the sea bream in a lovely caper butter and lemon reduction.

Stopped off for a drink whilst on our travels...the views were really nice from the beer garden, the drinks were cold and refreshing. The service was to be expected, but nothing was outstanding, and it seemed like a bit of a locals pub, so it did not feel the most welcoming and comfortable.
