Every now and then you are blown away by a restaurant! This was simply wonderful! A small restaurant on the Leyton high road, recommended by my daughter and her partner who live round the corner. The 4 of us had poppadoms to start with, beautifully fresh and curved for the delicious sauces. Then we had ta Tiffin Box each. You chose 4 items, one each from the 4 section crammed with choices. I had rice, saag aloo, Kala Bhuna slow cooked lamb and lamb chops. All served by charming staff. The bill with a tip was £25 each!

We enjoy Indian food and have eaten in a lot of Indian restaurants. This really is one of the best! We were on a trip from Belfast and decided to eat here due to the reviews. We were not disappointed. It really is home cooked food which is absolutely delicious! Seriously, it was so good and served in a cosy, intimate setting. The staff are very friendly but not intrusive. Even the music was pitched just right. So if you love everything traditional about Indian cuisine, then give here a visit!

Went to see Leyton Orient with friends from US and wanted to eat before parting company. Wow the best curry I have had including the smart Mayfair restaurants. Absolutely freshly cooked. The family who run the place were lovely. I wish I lived nearer so I could visit all the time.

First visit and had a lovely meal. Food was really fresh & well cooked. I had a tiffin meal which was generous & so good to taste the different dishes. Had to take some home as couldn’t finish my meal so that’s lunch today! My friend said the food tasted like his mums Indian home cooking & was authentic. Brilliant service, restaurant is run by a family & they were all so friendly, chatty & helpful. Relaxed atmosphere. Their menu is based on the Mums home cooked meals that they wanted to share with others. Think I’ve found a new favourite restaurant 😊

This is the best Indian restaurant for miles and miles. The staff are wonderful and the food really is sublime. We all had the meat-eaters’ tiffin. The highlights were the kala buna, chicken jalfrezi and lamb chops. An absolute must if you are in the Leyton area.

My latest meal in this favourite restaurant of mine was with three friends. We all got different tiffin combinations and tried each other’s food. I adore the cooking here and the friendliness of the staff. It’s BYO which makes it even more affordable. Support your local restaurant - especially when it is as good as this.

Had our first takeaway from Masala tonight. An incredible feast for 6. Each dish was distinct with a wide variety of textures and flavours. So pleased we tried this place…there was nothing I wouldn’t order again in a heartbeat. Not only was the food top quality but the guys were so friendly and even helped me carry the (heavy) load to the car. This is very much a local business that’s worth supporting. We’ll be back! All the best.

After reading the numerous rave reviews I thought I'd give this place a try. I am always interested in anywhere that promises a whiff of home cooking as opposed to standard pre-cooked sauces of many indian restaurants. Of the eight dishes we sampled, two I would happily eat again, the Begoon and Shim (Aubergine & Asian broad beans) and the Fulab rice, both of which were absolutely not standard restaurant fare. The aubergines were delicately flavoured, and the beans were a delightful texture, and there was very little oil in the dish. The rice was spiced mainly with kala jeera (black cumin) and was pretty good. After that less good. All the other dishes were swimming in cooking oil. As this was a takeout, and we were at home, we were able to pour some of this off. Most curry dishes start with a long frying process (of the onions, to caramelise), but there's really no need for such large quantitites of oil to be used. Many restaurants achieve far better on this score. This was as bad as the oil in dishes that plagues the otherwise excellent Pakistani takeouts, the various Kebabishes, but I didn't expect it in a pukka place like Masala India. Combined with this, the lamb, chicken and egg curries were fairly bland (though the meat was well cooked and tender), the sauces looked liquidised and really, no different, for me, from the bulk bought-in sauces that are the staple of many Indian restaurants. A dish of mixed vegetables fell into the same category: bland from a spicing point of view (and i don't mean not enough chilli) and absolutely swimming in cooking oil. The roti was, as the owner had explained to me, simply a thick chapatti and I wouldn't recommend it. I'd be tempted to eat here again if I knew there were more dishes hidden on the menu of the two dishes we enjoyed.

I live nearby and had been meaning to try this place for a while. We ordered a takeaway tonight of Lamb Shank Biryani, Trio of Chicken, Vegan Curry and a Garlic Naan. Wow - we loved it and the flavours blew our socks off. Lovely bold Indian flavours with lots of layers, not just hot. And it was more food than the 2 of us could eat, so a very nice lunch for one of us tomorrow too. Compliments to the chef!

5 star restaurant! Not only is this my favourite local restaurant this is probably my favourite restaurant for food! Just everything about this restaurant is great! From the owner, staff and always the best food! It never disappoints it’s always great every time! I always go with my husband and two children and the owners always make us feel welcomed and go above and beyond. Honestly I could come here once a week if I could! Definitely the best Indian food local and also in London in my opinion. I know there are other Indian restaurants that try and do it differently or a la carte but it’s never as good as this place. Please don’t change your chefs 😅 Thank you. See you soon Sophie & Family x
