Called in late on Sunday afternoon after a walk. It was quiet and we were not sure if they were still open, we stepped Inside the old church and were impressed, it is beautifully decorated. The owners were most welcoming and the food and service was great, it was the most elegant surroundings for a Thai meal we have had it was a lovely ending to the day.

We popped in for breakfast after doing some birdwatching. We had a pot of tea each, a sausage bun and a bacon bun, all were very good. The staff were friendly and helpful. The 2 breakfasts came to £11.50. We will definitely go back again. I've been back a few times now and have always have enjoyed the food. It's still good value too.

Dropped in here Sunday lunchtime. Wasn't very busy but it was around 2 p.m. staff were not very welcoming and took 20 mins to get our coffee. But it was nice. Ordered starters and mains, or Thai fishcakes and sweetcorn fritters. Fishcakes abit rubbery and fritters ok. We ordered beef and chicken stir fry , with rice.really small portions, 4 to 5 small pieces of meat and little veg, but it was tasty. Plates were not pre warmed. Small portion of rice and 3 pounds, seriously! Rice is so cheap. Not sure we would return.

We were visiting Hartlepool and came across this cafe/restaurant on the headland. We called in for a hot chocolate and a cheese scone and were so pleased we did. A stunning building that boasts a stained glass window and views of the port. The building was spotlessly clean (including the toilets), and the service and the food was excellent. We visited in the morning and breakfasts and bacon sandwiches were being served, but it also doubles up as a Thai restaurant in the evening and the menu offered a good choice of dishes all reasonably priced. We will have a return visit next time we are in the area.

I had the most delightful experience at this cafe! The hot chocolate was simply divine, made by the male waiter. The customer service was exceptional; the staff were warm, friendly, and attentive, making sure every need was met with a smile. Food never came Absolutely shocking , ordered waited 1hr and 45 mins had to ask where food was , part of order came as we where all walking out, During the wait no communication from staff , had to ask for some crackers to tide us over , gave us some prepacked crackers , never received update on the food., Female toilets need a light outside as you can not see the raised step to which one of us tripped , mind the step sign should be higher on eye level . The place was not busy atbh no the wonder , waitress had said on way out that yes it's normal to wait a long time , if we knew that we wouldn't of booked or booked amd ordered at 2pm to have it in time . If you live or are visiting the North East, you must visit this fabulous restaurant. We visited in September 2023, staying on the Headland, I couldn't believe the interior! It's stunning, with a beautiful bar and seating overlooking the sea, awesome pink and gold sofas, in the eaves of this once church At the time we went, it's only open to dine in the evening, Thursday to Sunday, and so worth it, food is lovely, atmosphere, and staff fantastic I believe it's also open for breakfast lunch and takeaway. Please go and support this beautiful restaurant The best in Hartlepool. ❤️

However the service was dire and after finishing our meals were left waiting over half an hour and nobody came to offer desserts or clear away. So we left. After taking payment the waitress was immediately back on her phone! I do hate to criticise local businesses and especially ones that have so much potential. But that's what happens when you don't have management on the premises.

This restaurant is situated in the historic Headland area of Hartlepool in a former chapel. The interior has been imaginatively adapted over 3 floors to give different levels of seating, all of which offer great views across the bay to Tees-side. Although a lovely location and venue, I found Mary Rowntree's to be a let down. I had been told of their afternoon tea so decided to visit with my sister. We were giving menus quickly but it took a while to get served and even longer to receive the food. The tea selection was very limited, we ordered the Victorian afternoon tea and were underwhelmed when it arrived at the table. With a mish-mash of unappealing sandwiches such as plain grated cheese with large onion wedges and plain ham and a pitiful looking side salad. The cakes, half of which were certainly not homemade and had clearly been taken out of a packet, were dissapointing and we were only given one of each cake (as well as one of each type of sandwich) meaning we had to cut everything in half, hardly convenient or worth it for the price. The staff seemed overwhelmed and rushed even though there were only maybe 3 coupled tables in at the same time as us.There are much better afternoon teas available in Hartlepool, maybe this is more of a panini and crisps venue.

Called this morning for scones, tea and coffee. The fruit scone had obviously been zapped in the microwave as it was exceptionally hot, not to mention hard and chewy around the outside. This was a shame because I think it would have been a pleasant enough scone served cold. Service was a little slow given how quiet they were. I was surprised by the lack of menus on the tables too which meant we had to wait for a menu, then wait again for someone to take our order and wait again for the order to be prepared.
