Martock Chippery in South Somerset

What the hell is this?? 😲 I ordered savaloy and chips and instead got something that looks like a dead turned inside out rodent with chips. The chips were alright, a little soggy. The reason why your savaloys look like they've died in the Sahara desert is because you just chuck them in the microwave.....you need to put them in a container of water and then microwave them in the container of water. What made it worse, was that someone looked at this after it came out of the microwave and then thought it was good enough to wrap up and serve 🤦🏻‍♀️ and take money from me for it. Yum, does this look good to you?? 🤢

Great food, perfect portions, always freshly cooked, great staff and friendly atmosphere at very competitive prices. The best chippie around.

What a fabulous lunch and friendly service! The southern fried chicken burger was so delicious and moist, and the halloumi fries and Brie bites were a must have!! Complete with chips, and a battered sausage and Mars bar - mmm mmm mmm (not all for me, I promise this was shared)! Will now be going on a 26 mile run🏃‍♀️!

Nice fish and chips. Freshly cooked too. Quite busy when we called on a Friday night. They only take cash, which seems to be a theme in Martock.

Just had cod and chips. Disappointing. The chips were undercooked and the fish was over cooked. Too much batter to fish ratio, the fish was very dry and the batter was so hard it was inedible. Also unbelievably greasy. I don’t like leaving bad reviews but I’m afraid I won’t waste my time or money going there again. The dog seemed to liked it tho, however he couldn’t drink enough water afterwards, probably trying to wash that grease down.

Dropped off a delivery for the shop, and was given haddock and chips for my troubles ! Absolutely lush, with super friendly owners, beautiful little town too 👍

Sadly seems to have gone down hill at speed since management change over. I thought I would give them another go after disappointing fish and chips, the fish was under cooked .Still not good second time around had to throw the meal away nearly inedible . Gave 2 stars as service was friendly

Tucked away at the back of Martock's miminalistic shopping centre you will find the Martock Chippery. Take out or delivered service from this rural business knocks the batter off many urban competitors. Always the best quality cod, but what many people do not know is that there is a variety of fish available for 24 hour special order. Whatever your taste, if it is on the menu, you will not be disappointed. Busy hours means exactly that, so if you must, be prepared for a happy queue of local Somerset folk.

Still not getting things right... They've decreased the menu and portion sizes which isn't a huge issue but they still have no concept of order management. There's always huge queues as they appear to only be able to take an order, then cook and serve that order before taking the next order. This creates huge queues of people waiting to order and a long wait as they fry up another batch of chips. Don't even bother trying to phone your order through as they never, ever have it ready for when they say they will. Invariably they only start cooking it once you've turned up and queued to tell them that you've arrived to collect.

Great chip shop never disappointed very tidy place ps need to be super hungry lol i do manage to finish just can get busy just got to be patient with the codvid going on good job guys

Today was the first time trying the food and will be the last the chips were not cooked properly still crunchy In side and the fish was foul not impressed. I will not be returning. Shame I have to give you 1 star just to leave a review as honestly I'd of put no stars worst fish and chips iv ever had.

Ordered cod and got some other type of fish without being told it was not cod so could of had an allergic reaction the batter was very soggy and the chips just as soggy

Staff always lovely, efficient and quick. Fish always FRESH and beautifully cooked to tasty perfection. Chips are small but plenty. Very pleased to enjoy every visit and delicious fish'n'chips.

Martock chippy is the business! Really generous portions of chips, good quality everything else. Friendly staff what's not to like. I drive an extra 5 or 10 mins to go here as Yeovil and ilminster chippies aren't as good.

Chips soggy and the half chicken came in two pieces over cooked and dried out, even the cat turned her nose up at it. Will not use again. Friday 5 pm.

Freshly cooked every time visited. Excellent fish (very fresh) good portion size chips very good. Pleaseant staff.

Just been to get 2 large cod and large chips. Which I normally get. Its enough to feed 3 of us. I was served by a blond lady who glared at me constantly and then utterly stitched me up. Chips ONE THIRD the size of usual portion, complete with batter bits fallen off the fish....i.e. tiny portion of dregs and no chips. They were freezing cold too. The two fish were smaller than the size of ONE portion we usually have. Moral: I won't be back. I'd rather drive all the way to Somerton, not get ripped off, have a decent meal served with a smile!

Chicken and mushroom pie....frozen in middle....chips soggy and mushy. All in a miserable experience. Took pie back....no apology....avoide at all costs

Massive portions and well cooked

Unfortunately this doesn't let you mark less than one whole star! The food is atrocious. Burnt offerings, reheated or annihilated chips, rock hard batter / breadcrumbs, quality of the meat used for burgers is poor to start with then obliterated in deep fat fryer. Items left off order. Cleanliness has also gone down hill over the last few years

Last couple of days Discusting batter hard and chewy and fish was dry what there was of it...was stacked on so not fresh and chips were greasy and warmed up...chucked straight in the bin.so after spending £ 20 I will never be going again. .😈 and this was about 6 pm so was open for a hour...I thought fish was cooked to order not warmed up off the shelf

So on ordering when they opened at 5pm, we got reheated chips, the two fish missed from the adult meals- tho I suppose that could be said to be as much our fault as theirs- and one pot of mushy peas that on opening stank sulphurously which I took a small mouthful of before deciding it was inedible. Thanks guys and never again

Its good if you like burnt batter and they dont tell you about it from sitting on there warm trays.
