The annoying first. If you check out my restaurant and pub reviews it is a regular gripe that i make, why cannot they serve the food on hot plates? The food was piping hot but both our plates were cold, not even warm, as a result the food cools quickly. The Batemans beer was excellent and would have loved another pint but had another pint but we had a show to go to. Cold plates aside, the food was excellent and large quantities. My fish platter was impressive and my partners pasts she said was lovely. We would normally have a pud but we were full from the main course. I would have been interested to see the portion sizing as we have found that puddings are getting smaller and smaller in a lot of places we have been. Overall I would definitely recommend a visit.

Last Wednesday I celebrated my 80th birthday with family and friends at this fine establishment. They catered for my party of 24 people with efficiency and utmost service. The people serving us, the waitresses, kitchen staff and all in between did so with a most pleasant manner and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food as always was excellent. The conservatory was decorated beautifully as well. Well done.

We come here every year when passing through towards Yorkshire. We stay at the Hampton by Hilton, Humberside Airport, just over a mile away (but to walk to the pub is not safe to walk especially if it’s dark). The food never fails to surprise. The portions are out of this world and the quality matches. I had the giant yorkshire pudding with steak and ale filling, mash and vegetables. There was not one piece of fat or gristle in the steak, and it was all so tasty. Unfortunately, I simply could not manage a desert as stuffed with the main course. My other half had minted lamb chop with mash and vegetables. She said it was superb. For desert, she chose the apple and blackberry crumble with custard which she only managed to eat 75% of as she was full too. She said this was also superb. In short, I recommend this place highly, but you must book as it’s always full.

Oh my goodness portion sizes are huge and all very delicious. I just had to start with this because they were big and lovely. We called in the on off chance of parking our motorhome and having dinner. The car park is small but arrived earlyish and slipped in available space. The pub still has a pub feel despite having a good sized dining area. The menu is good. We just had mains, which was just as well due to size. The fish platter would have done two of us, but I soldiered on relishing the lovely fresh salad and delish homemade tartare sauce i ran out of steam and to my shame left some chips and half a fishcake (possibly the least successful on the plate). Himself had steak and kidney pie lots of chips and seasonal veg. Needless to say no room for pudding, though we spotted a decent size sundae (I think). Great service too.

Went for a family lunch as I was told the food and service was excellent! It took the very rude waitress around 20 minutes to acknowledge us and come to take a drinks order. The drinks finally came to our table after her lengthy conversation with another member of the bar staff. To say the least I am truly astounded at her attitude. When our food finally arrived we witnessed the same rude individual approach a tall gentleman having lunch with his two friends and ask him to follow her outside. I personally was talking to the very friendly gentleman because I made a comment about the fish platter looking nice and I said I would get that next time. The gentleman and his friends were telling the kitchen lady how stuffed they were and was complimenting the chef. My family and I were watching the unprofessional waitress through the window as she was clearly being nasty to the tall lovely gentleman, he was very upset when he came back in. He was an absolutely lovely gentleman that was very grateful of the excellent food and portion sizes. Watching what had happened just put all of us off our meal because her behaviour was so disgusting. It has saddened me to witness such poor behaviour and we won’t be going there again.

My husband and I were visiting Kirmington to follow in his grandfather's footsteps. Bernard Frank Steel used to fly Lancasters for bomber command squadron 166 and was based at Kirmington airfield in WW2. We enjoyed a lovely meal at the Marrowbone and cleaver, the pub where Bernard used to drink during the war. The staff were so polite and friendly, food amazing and huge plus there is lots of WW2 memorabilia around the pub, which is owned by motorbike and adrenaline TV personality, Guy Martin. If you are in the area, this pub serving hearty English grub is a must! Julie & Graham Steel

My husband surprised me with a drive out to Kirmington and a wonderful meal at the Marrowbone and Cleaver last Friday evening , neither of us had been here before so we wondered what it was going to be like.It was fairly busy but we had a table booked so we were taken to it and asked what we would like to drink?...(also told to stay at the table except for going to the ladies or gents) Staff were really lovely. We had pate to start with which was really nice and we both had ordered the steak & ale pie with suet crust , mine with mash and my husband with chips and veg. Oh my goodness if you ever go and you don’t have a big appetite ask for a small pie ok . I only found that out afterwards. We couldn’t manage puddings but we will be going back that’s for sure.

I went for Sunday lunch with my boyfriend, my dad and his partner and we ordered 2 Sunday lunch and 2 steak pie. It was all pretty tasteless. My boyfriend has been going for years as he is a biker so he recommended it but even he said is wasn't as good as it used to be. He went again after our last visit with a friend and had the smothered chicken but he said it tasted different and the BBQ sauce was really runny. Both him and his friend had the same meal and they both had diarrhoea afterwards. I think the old chef has left so the food isn't as good. It's a shame as the place is nice and the staff are friendly.

Visited the MB & C on the recommendation of a friend. Bit tricky to find if not using satnav (we came on bikes). First thing to note it is more WW2 bomber themed than Guy Martin bikes. Follows guys interest in all things mechanical and WW2 (he’s got a merlin engine I believe). In one corner there’s a gixxer with some pictures from Guys career. The main dining room is WW2 RAF themed as there was probably a bomber base near by. Seemed busy on Sunday lunchtime. Food arrived quickly. There was an issue with the bill on my order but this was resolved quickly by management of the pub.

It was our first time after being recommended by a friend. He said the portions were large and he was right... not one of us finished the meal. The menu was excellent and there were specials as well which made choosing hard. Our food and the food I could see being delivered was all excellent , great pub food. The service was very pleasant and the atmosphere good. The history of the place with 166 bomber squadron was well displayed, a good car park and well worth a visit.

Called in on a recommendation and also a fan of Guy Martin. Was not disappointed. One of Guys bikes takes pride of place at one end of the bar and the pub is decorated with bike racing in mind but also with a nod to the history of kirmington airport. Staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was any trouble. Food was excellent and the portions were huge. Talk about value for money! Onion rings £1-50! And they were great! We had salmon and haddock and chips. Fish was as fresh as I’ve ever had and the chips were top drawer. Proper hand cut chips like your mum would make only better! (Sorry mum). Lovely relaxed atmosphere only gripe could maybe do with a bit of background music as we couldn’t help overhear our neighbors conversation.

We called in on a Monday lunchtime. It was reasonably busy. Dogs are only allowed in the bar which was fine, and we got a table. (It has three rooms) The staff were really welcoming, the food was outstanding. We had garlic mushrooms, chicken goujon's then steak pie and fish pie. The Batemans beer "Skull & Spanners" was a very tasty session ale. The decor is tastefully, and the memorabilia great. Are real tribute to the 166th Squadron.we will go again.

Would of loved to of had pudding, they said I could take it away but we had a 3hour journey ahead of us. We will be visiting again, we just won't order sides. Compliments to the chef. Keep up the good work sally, guy and staff!!

What a lovely and interesting pub this is. It has a fascinating history as a waterhole for the dambusters squadron and plenty of memorabilia which is why we dropped in with my elderly parents. The staff are very friendly and accomodating and there is a lovely conservatory at the back which is spacious. The food was good and varied and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

This was our third visit and I feel I have to leave a review as I haven’t had a bad experience. Called and asked for a table for my wife and I plus a hi chair for my grandson Sally the owner rearranged a couple of tables and said yes ready in half hour. I ordered the fish and chips my wife ordered posh fish fingers in toasted bun and salad. Both large portions and very hot fish was very fresh white and with home made tartar sauce it was delicious. As owner is Guy Martins sister there is loads of memorabilia from him and can see why it’s a magnet for bikers plus Guy martin merchandise available to buy but at the same time a great country pub restaurant. Plenty of parking for cars and bikes definitely worth a visit

Booked in as have heard it can be busy and difficult to get a walk in table , we were greeted at the bar by a very friendly blonde bartender who took our drinks order and told us what table was ours . We were seated in a conservatory type room and it was nice and bright and clean looking . The tables chairs and decor are a bit mish mashed and worn looking and exactly what id expect for a country pub well done for not making the place void of any character. Both me and my partner had surf and turf he had chips i opted for jacket potato, our food was served quickly and was a huge portion, presented well on the plate and tasted good , we will most definitely be back

It’s a pilgrimaged site for motorcycle fans as it’s run by Guy Martin’s sister and a very good job she makes of it too. Good beer and food. You won’t be hungry when you leave.

As my husband and myself are big Guy Martin fans, we have wanted to visit this place for ages. We had the week off so this was the perfect opportunity. We travelled from Boston and we were overwhelmed by the establishment and most importantly the staff. Really polite from start to finish. We got there ar 12:15, by just after 1pm, you were struggling for a table. There was a combination of bikers and locals who all had stories to tell. One lady was telling a gentleman about her father who rode in the Isle of Man TT.

To be honest as a fan of Guy Martin, a bit of a military historian and a yorkshireman who loves a pie. For me to not love this place was going to be difficult.

I can't believe we had not discovered this gem of a pub/restaurant before!!! I found this on Google, read all the excellent reviews so I had no worries about booking a table for my wife and I last Saturday evening, and I am so pleased that I did. We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we arrived, as all the staff were so friendly and efficient. The food, as expected, was delicious and such great portions, and our only problem was in fact clearing our plates; no chance. The steak and ale pie had a beautiful suet topping and underneath that, the pie was brimming with melt in the mouth pieces of steak; certainly the best pie I have ever tasted. At the time of booking I had no idea that this pub is owned by that extraordinary character, Guy Martin, which explained the motorbike at one end of the pub!!! Being an ex-RAF chappie, it was also intriguing to discover the history of No 166 Squadron at RAF Kirmington. So, all in all this was a wonderful experience and there is no doubt that we will be returning. Oh yes, the pint of Bateman's ale, Skull and Spanners, was well worth a sup!!!!

We pre booked a lunch time table and were glad we did. We arrived just after twelve and it filled up very quickly. Service was very efficient and friendly. The food was very clearly freshly cooked and well worth the wait. Even the toilets are good. This pub definitely appeals to a whole host of people, be it Guy Martin fans, motorbike fans, RAF/Lancaster fans or foodie fans. There is some thing here for every one. A wonderful experience and cannot wait to go again.

Had been previously on the way home from an outing and were unable to have food, so booking is a must! We booked this time and we were not disappointed! The food was amazing. I had the surf and turf and my uncle had the mixed grill, both in the slightly more expensive bracket. But, it was certainly worth every penny. It was cooked beautifully and could come with a range of potato and veg/salad options.

Went for a celebratory birthday meal to the Sheffield Arms which had come highly recommended. We weren't disappointed. It was the best 'pub' meal I've had in years. Two had meals from the menu and two of us had the wonderful all you can eat carvery. Everyone enjoyed their meals (lasagne and Yorkshire Pudding wrap) but the carvery was exceptional. Great choice of vegetables, meats, sausages and the most gorgeous baby potatoes. The staff were great, very cheerful and friendly and the puddings were delicious too. I understand that the Sunday carvery has even more choice. We paid £9.95 for the carvery - brilliant value. The pub is beautifully decorated; of course it was busy but the service was excellent. It still retains a local feel but definitely book if you want a meal. Thank you!!!!

I was called out in a storm to fix a problem on the road outside. The friendly gentleman from the pub kindly invited me in for a coffee and to warm myself up. I am very grateful for their kindness.
