Staff were great and very helpful, the food was lovely and worth the money. Beer isn’t the cheapest by a long shot. It’s a shame really as I’m sure more people would visit if it was.

My daughter decided to take me for tea.......added salt to the wound as she paid over £11.00 for each meal. Cheese sauce pot had a fly in.....and the food was cold. 2nd time round slightly warmer, burger was like dog meat and the steak was cooked wrong. No offer of a refund. They actually asked me what they could do to make it right....have they been on a customer service course. Don't give the place the time.of day.

Main restaurant is ok but the play area, tables are unclean, meals and desserts coming out at different times. Staff tried their best.

Absolutely terrible service, majority of staff have a serious attitude problem. All tables have dirty plates on them, none have knives or forks, staff in play area swore at my family after telling us to move tables & lying about it being reserved. Already put complaints in & nothing gets done. This is a shameful pub & management is horrible.

We recently went to the marquis and from start to finish it was brilliant. The staff were very friendly and even when they ran out of one thing it was quickly rectified for another. The lady in the wacky warehouse named Ellie was fantastic. Very helpful in her approach to what we needed and was very professional even when some customer wasn't happy. The manager on the shift Friday 16th Feb think it may have been Rob was very helpful and when I discussed that my daughter just wanted strawberries as dessert due to allergies he made this happen. This was a very nice mean and the family enjoyed the occasion

We came for a family meal for my son’s birthday, food was lovely, all came out at the same time, good cost as well. I especially want to thank Thursa for being lovely, accommodating and just really helpful and friendly. She’s a credit to you! Made the night a bit less stressful as it was very busy.

Service was fantastic. Ordered through the app and drinks came quickly. Emily served our drinks and she was so polite and efficient. We had some nibbles and the portions were amazing!

Just wanted to say a big thank you to the staff for all their hard work. Very accommodating and helpful. We went for a festive special with bingo. Food was lovely as always but the staff...even though they were extremely busy...we're efficient and friendly and made us feel welcome.

Nothing special. Long wait at the bar to order. Food was average. The place itself is in need of urgent refurbishment. Faux leather seating is cracked and large ares of 'plastic' missing. It's looking very tired. The tables had been wiped but had a sticky residue. All in all not good.

Came for a late carvery after doing some christmas shopping on sunday evening, the standards were just as good as when weve visited previously on quieter days. We got more than we bargained for as there was a quiz so we stayed for that too.

Food is really nice and hot. Tried a few other carvery’s around here but this ones by far the best. Staff really nice as always.

Had hunter chicken today and not going to lie it was awful the chicken wasn’t cooked including my partners and they didn’t offer any free puddings/ free drink or even knock it off the bill just got told they’ll let the chef knows the bill came to £80 and it wasn’t even enjoyable for me and my partner it was our first time here and we won’t be coming back either! We always go to Greene kings and never had problems but today it was just awful meal. It wasn’t worth the price at all supreme Hunter chicken it was called £9.49 I wouldn’t pay that after today experience but we ha don choice to has we didn’t get complimentary or it knocked off bill. Not happy at all. I won’t be visiting again.

We decided to try the food here, as we'd heard really good things about it, and I'm glad we did! The food was really nice and they had different vegetarian options. Would definitely recommend!

We went to the Marquis without a booking, there were no tables inside but we were told we could sit outside. After we had ordered it started to rain, as we were getting our carvery the lady allocating tables came and told us we could move inside (and even went and got our drinks). The carvery staff were really friendly, patient and plated up plenty of food. The carvery meat and vegetables were the best I've had, I will definitely be going back.

Met at the door by a friendly member of staff who showed us to our seats. Explained what we had to do with the covid situation. She kindly asked to do the track at trace. Food was lovely. All staff had PPE on and were friendly and approachable. Social distancing was followed and staff thoroughly cleaned the tables, chairs, walls and windows. This is the best and safest place that I have been to since the pubs and restaurants have opened back up. We will definitely be returning.

Came over from Leeds to visit family. We all had a carvery and it was the best carvery we have ever had. Red hot, fresh veg and the meat fell apart in your mouth. They’re not shy with the portions either. We would travel up from Leeds to eat here again and have the carvery. Thank you

Just popped in for lunch on Friday 21st Aug with my husband and the kids. Overall the pub had good COVID measures in place and the staff were very friendly. However the soda machine wasn’t working and they had no ketchup. We ordered two kids meals nuggets and chips and sausage and mash and these were very average. The sausages were overcooked and hard and the chips tasteless and the gravy had a film on the top of it. For the adults we had scampi and a all day breakfast, both very average and with no ketchup quite tasteless. Sorry to say we paid and left and will not be visiting again overall it was a 3 out of 10.

Menu food is hit and miss and so is the carvery, today my eldest son had a chicken burger. Was actually really good, the rest of us had carvery, it was terrible,every thing but the gravy was awful. I'm guessing the food had been stood a while. Was just not good. Dessert was awful. Got a share sundae. Came in a pasta bowl, was the cheapest quality icecream. Imaginable, and I mean like cheaper then tesco own brand. Covered on whipped cream with a couple of cheap cookies. Diabolical.

In the last week we have visited twice and loved it. Food amazing and staff fantastic. Kirsty was excelent all the rest of the staff were so friendly and professional, it's now a regular for us, Can't falt it 5 stars from us

Came here with partner an kids for first time sinse restrictions lifted, told an hour wait for food, I guess that's ok but didn't look busy to us, got seated straight away as booked a table, ordered/payed drinks, starters and mains on the app, easy enough to do, child's starter arrived before ours, two soggy garlic bread "fingers" (just standard garlic slices) child tried it but wasn't impressed with it so father ate it (does'nt like waste) our starter then arrived, no cutlery? Whent to look for some, couldn't see any so asked a waitress for some, she said that's fine and even made mental note where our table was...she walked past us a few times and looked over at us..still no cutlerly, Ok so partner started eating it as was getting cold and after waiting a good 5 or so mins, fair enough you can dip these halloumi fries in the sauce using fingers but the side salad with a dressing? Halloumi was like chewing rubber very squeaky.. anyone that has had bad halloumi will know what I'm talking about.. was definitely not the best, plates taken away then some time later cutlery arrived but was told "here's your cutlery for your mains".. ok atleast we was given some at last, mains arrived looking well presented, tho our child's chicken I couldn't give to him because it was pink, I'm not one to complain or make a scene but in hindsight should of, came here to enjoy our time tho, child still ate the rest of the meal, partner enjoyed part of his meal as chicken was tough and hard to cut in places, my meal was very nice and filling, can't knock them too much with this 50% off at the moment, but I wouldn't of been best pleased paying full wack, I'm sure it isn't always like this and I guess it can be hit and miss like any family restaurant really. Also I know it can't be helped to much and not anyone's fault, but my pet hate at restaurants are flies!! little and huge ones flying around our table trying to land on our food, it was just constant and annoying! There was atleast 6 at once and it just ruins experience abit to be honest, having to keep batting them away or rushing our food haha, some people are not put off by them but I admit I do have a problem with them, I can't even have one in my house until I've hunted it back outside where it belongs! Anyway I have ranted on abit, so overall yes I would recommend, it's a nice place and staff seem nice tho the waitress didn't remember our request but that can be put down to having too many jobs to do at once maybe? I'm not sure. I think food can be hit and miss anywhere you go really especially family pub restaurants, just please remind staff when you place food down make sure the customer has cutlery, also chicken should be probed to make sure it isn't undercooked and in same breath make sure food isn't over cooked.

We have been to this pub several times in the past and this was our first visit since lockdown endedVisited as a family of four.We booked a table the day before and we were really impressed with the whole set up here.Staff were lovely and they were constantly cleaning tables/chairs when other customers left and they were all wearing masks.You can still pay at the bar but there is also an option to use the app that you can download all drinks/food/cutlery etc is then brought to your table.There is a one way system in place for walking through the pub and also a system in place for the use of the toilets.We felt very safe being here as there were good spacing between tables and it was'nt crowded at all.The food was lovely too..really good portions.Would def recommend

Been a regular of this establishment for about 5 years now. Was amazed at the increase in quality since the pubs shift to carvery. Visited multiple times since lockdown was lifted and have to say the service is exemplary. The cleanliness, the friendliness of the staff and the amazingly cooked and prepared food are all excellent. In my opinion this makes this pub/restaurant the best in the area. Cant wait to visit again. Always a lovely day/night out.

Been to marquis twice now since reopening from lockdown but we always come as it's our local always great service and staff so friendly all restrictions set out brilliant will defiantly be back

Came here for a Cavery with a friend. The social distancing measured are well planned out and we felt safe through out our visit. The staff here are some of the nicest people in the industry and they couldn’t do enough for us. Every single member of staff was absolutely lovely and so polite! This was the first time I had visited and I will definitely be coming back. Thank you!

Myself and my family went for tea on a Thursday evening and the service was excellent and the food was good. Felt safe, staff were seen to be cleaning and they couldn’t do enough for us.

Visited tonight for tea with my partner and 2 children. The minute we walked in we felt so comfortable and relaxed. COVID rules explained, seated and option to order food/drink at the bar or via the app. (Which is easy to use). All the staff are as welcoming/friendly as ever, nothing is to much trouble. The food is lovely a favourite is the carvery but main menu is just as good . We visited many times before prior to lockdown as it’s one of our favourite places to eat/drink.

Staff friendly as always, social distancing has been implemented really well. Happy that's it's back open again!

Children played in the Wacky Warehouse Play Area. Enjoyed their play. Had the Carvery which was ok. Have had better at the Marquis I must admit.

Been working in the area called a few times for tea , had a carvery first visit was really nice , burger day after same cooked perfectly and chips really hot. Staff so helpful, was served by Elisha who couldn’t do enough for you . Deffo recommended

Friendly staff from the moment we arrived, comfortable surrounding, well set out pub. Carvery, well, pure excellence, veg cooked perfectly, meat succulent and melts in the mouth. Childrens portions plentiful and arrived quickly.

Very busy when we turned up but staff where great and soon found us a table for 14. Food fantastic and could not fault the staff at all they where fantastic

Never been to this wacky warehouse and walked in abit lost. A member of staff called Sue saw us and immediately made us feel welcome. Saw us to a table, told us about the menus, carvery, were to order, play area was and made such a fuss over my daughter. And couldnt have offered to do more for us. Sue was so very kind and to us all. Food was lovely for the price abd Definately come again.

This was my second visit to the Marquis in the last couple of months and again I was very impressed with our meal. The food was spot on, and the service was warm and friendly. Another really enjoyable visit. Wish we had something similar near us in the New Forest!

Came here for food after my nieces 4th birthday party The food was lovely , the Carvery was lush and the ultimate ice cream sundae (wow ) I couldn’t even finish it A big shout out to Sue who gives the most amazing service and it’s the little things ( getting a baby spoon ready for little niece meal ) Checking that we are ok , Sue is a credit to you , never had service like this in a long time , keep up the good work Sue

Been a few times for tea ..but I wont be returning ..had hunters chicken..chicken was burnt on the bottom...no onion rings on my plate even though it stated them with the meal..chips were luke warm..very disappointed tonight ..

Great family friendly pub. When ordering food we were told the wait time as it was a Saturday afternoon which was fine. The carvery was perfect! A lovely staff member Sue saw me setting up a surprise birthday cake for my sister with candles and helped me very kindly. Thanks for the help Sue!

My family decided to take me here for my birthday. I ordered Gannon with eggs , it was completely inedible, the gammon tasted off , the eggs were undercooked and the chips and peas were cold . Not once did anyone ask how the meal was , even when she cleared the table and could see that I hadn't eaten anything , did she inquire as to whether everything was alright .

Lovely place, good food and they have an area for children to play. As well as ample parking. The burger and chips I had was lovely and my 2 year old enjoyed her kids meal.

Visited several times and never had a bad meal, thats why we came back.....Until tonight that is.

Was advised that the wait for food was 40 mins but it didn’t come for an hour and 20. The food was all cold as if it had been sat out for a while and my gammon was burnt. Didn’t receive a check back, so didn’t have opportunity to send my food back. Just had to eat as much as I could. Appalling quality and service.

Excellent all round. Friendly staff and good choice of food - the Carvery was delicious.

Friendly staff, huge choice of Gin and draught drinks 😋 & delicious carvery. Would highly recommend

Just been for a carvery with family and it was lovely, meat cooked perfectly and veg not hard. Will definately visit again.

Dessert didn't appear after 30 mins so I chased it. No apology for the delay, we were just advised that it would be with us in 10 mins. Which it was...but a 40 minute wait for a cold dessert? Then only one of the two appeared. We were told "I'll ask about it" (still no apology) only to be still waiting 40 mins later. By now we had a fractious 3 year old on our hands, had finished our drinks and after having to ask twice I really didn't feel like asking again for the missing dessert so we left without it. Very poor customer service meant a disappointing end to a birthday day out.

Third visit and was very busy so they're doing something right, food was all hot this time. Negatives would be; less meat than the Toby Carvery and the roast potatoes and gravy aren't as nice either.

I'd not been to the Marquis in years, so was curious to see what it was like. We had a lovely welcome when we arrived. The carvery was really good with a nice selection of vegetables and it was suitably hot. Would certainly consider visiting again.

We had a large table reserved for 22 people. We all had the carvery which was great value at 4.99, Sue was great, she checked on us several times. At the end of the night we discovered we had gone to the same school together many years ago!

The team in the wacky warehouse at the marquis are absolutely fantastic, especially the team leader Nicky. After issues with a different greene king pub re my daughters birthday, Nicky the manager went out of her way to get my daughters party rebooked with them. Not only that upgraded her party free of charge to a build a bear one. She went way above and beyond and stopped a complaint to greene king head office. The party itself was fantastic Nicky ensured it ran smoothly and all the kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves. A big thank you to Nicky and her team, who made my 5year olds birthday truly special. Will be booking for future parties

Excellent night at the wacky for kids Xmas party?! well worth the ticket fee! £3.50 and kids got a buffet of hot food, 2hrs play a visit from santa and a present! The staff are amazing! Nikkie, Emma and Laura! They always make time for all the kids and play along with them! Would highly recommend paying them a visit!!

I visited here on Monday night with a friend. I was enjoying my visit until I heard some commotion over by the bar. One of the female staff members was (or seemed to me and my friend) to be almost screaming at a male member of staff to fetch something back because she needed it (this is what it sounded like). I didn’t mention this in check back as I thought it was irrelevant to my meal (which I enjoyed). This same female staff member also served me and my friend at the bar and I don’t think she smiled once and basically threw our drinks at us. I will not be visiting here again and will encourage friends and family to visit elsewhere that doesn’t allow staff members to scream and shout in front of guests and be treated the way we did. It’s a shame that our visit was spoiled by this member of staff as we enjoyed our meal and were treated politely by the other staff members.

Came in yesterday for a nice meal with my friends As I approached the bar there was a young girl shouting at one of the chefs in front of customers which I didn’t think was very appropriate I did feel very bad for the young lad that was getting shouted at I couldn’t tell you what it was about but I know that he was very shocked that she even did it. As I was there I did feel that she could’ve been some sort of manager but then realised the young lad in the shirt was the manager but the way she speak to him was beyond me I wouldn’t stand that if that was me. I will be returning again as the food was great and the service was spectacular the two people that was on the floor was very nice and very approachable just wish that I got their names. All in all Great pub And great atmosphere

Been a many time to marquis throughout my life. Many a party has been held by my extended family and trips for a quick pint and a meal with friends and family.

the pub is beautiful outside and decorated very nicely just shame the service and meal not up to the same

I came in earlier on today with my family and when we came to order food, a member of staff in a wacky warehouse shirt who I am assuming was a member of management came to inform us there was no steak in the size we had ordered the girl who served us suggested using 2 smaller steaks or a better steak the management stormed off into kitchen and the lady at the bar followed her in and we were then sat at the table when we heard the lady in the wacky shirt shout “don’t ever speak to me like that infront of guests again” personally I never found a thing wrong with the way she spoke to her! Disgusting treatment of staff and I personally think she should be sacked or at least suspended! I cannot believe that young girl stood for that!

Called in after a busy day on Sunday around 3pm with a friend and although it was very busy the food was tasty and the service was great . I had roast turkey with all the trimmings and the meat cut like butter , all severed with a good selection of seasonal veg

Play area was a joke. Some kids over 5 in the under 5’s got rewarded a free return pass for throwing balls at my 1 years old on purpose. I got no apology, no nothing. POOR SERVICE. Food was lovely; so can’t complain at this.

Just want to say a massive thank -you to the staff at the marquis, especially Sue she’s a diamond couldn’t do enough for us, made us so welcome, booked the function room for my daughters baby shower, absolutely excellent in all aspects, the buffet was beautifully presented & excellent value for money, I booked for 30 people & 33 attended there was more than enough food & some left over ( booked the gold package) would highly recommend it thank -you once again.

What a shambles. Had to argue about getting a table upstairs after being told over the phone that we could have one, fo8d only like warm, lamb shank needed a saw to cut into, Yorkshire puddings tough and chewy. After a complaint to the very polite and obliging manager, we got a refund. We will never return to this place or recommend it.

It’s a while since I’ve been here but the staff were lovely, the car very was really nice although not sure it was worth £7.99 for a standard plate and the desserts are very expensive but we will come again. Sue our waitress was lovely

The carvery is wondeful and my grandkids love going with us most Wednesdays. The staff go out of their way to make sure everbody happy.

We have been eating the carvery here for a number of months and it's never anything but consistently good. Couldn't wait to go today (as I'm working tomorrow) after coming home from turkey, it was excellent as usual.

We visited the marquis as a party of 53 for my mum 80 birthday and i must say we where really pleased and delighted about the food and service .we had a little room to ourselfs which was lovely ,all the food was good and hot which is a bonus being a lot of us .Definetly would use again thank you to all the staff and a big call out to the behind the scenes who do all the hard bit Simon ,Lewis ,Andrew ,Coops .

been today and was plesantly surprised the food is really lovely meat melts in your mouth all veg is fresh and yorkshire puds home made plus for an extra £1 you can have an other yorky and 2 pigs in blankets also they do 3 plate sizes staff lovely asked us if we were enjoying our meal we went at 1pm and was really busy but its a big place and queueing was minimal well worth waiting for best carvery ive had this year

We visit here on a regular basis, the fasilities are always clean and the staff are amazing!! Our lady who waited on our table was called Sue, nothing was any trouble!! She spoke to the kids making sure they were okay, she had time to talk to us even when she was cleaning tables. I love this lady!! When ever we come she always greets us like a friend and that’s why we love coming, all the staff are the same!

Children played for an hour in the wacky warehouse, then we ate in the Restaurant. We all had a lovely Carvery. Delicious, hot and plenty of choice. The staff are very friendly in the play area and the restaurant. Had a lovely evening.

Came here for my daughters 15th birthday and was joined by family and friends. Sue the lady that looked after our party was fantastic and very organised. The food was lovely and again Sue and her team made it all run smoothly and couldn't do enough for us. Thank you!!

Been here quite a few times & we absolutely love it. Amazing food and staff and the play area for the kids is fantastic. Been today as a big group for my grandmas 70th birthday and the staff were amazing especially Sue and couldn’t do enough to help us.

Would just to to thank Rebecca who is an absolutle credit to your restaurant. She was amazing when we had a few issues with my son who struggles in new places. However there was another member of staff there on this occasion who was very rude and seemed like she wasnt keen being at work this day. She had no manners and made me feel very uncomfortable. I did ask one of the guys there her name (Kira) (Keera) (Not sure of spelling) as she didnt seem to be wearing a name badge. I asked her name because I wanted to let you know she wasnt really doing good for the restaurant, infact I think if it wasnt for Rebecca being so helpful I dont think we would return. But she really did make me feel at ease when my son went into meltdown.

Took some friends who were visiting for a carvery and was not disappointed, good service from the bar staff, the staff were suffering from the heat and Wearing Xmas tops on the hottest August day didn’t do them any good. The young lady who took care of us was called Rebecca and is Credit to them very jolly and polite.
