Little mester in Rotherham

I've had enjoyable meals here before, which makes last night's sausage and mash in a Yorkshire pudding even more disappointing. Sausages undercooked, pudding as dry as cardboard and difficult to cut, mash was indescribable, peas dry and like bullets. Almost certainly leftovers from lunchtime, which sat on a warming tray for a few hours. One of the good points of this pub was that dogs were welcome, and created a good atmosphere. We can still take them in, but it's obvious we aren't welcome, and now banished to odd areas. Don't feel welcome any more.

Great pub with friendly staff and good beer

Been here many times with the kids for lunch. Very local to us. Nice place go eat. My husband and I have also had many nights out here. Great atmosphere. Very friendly. Recommended.

Great pub, great atmosphere! love the fact that there are dogs areas inside so you can go for a stroll and call in for lunch with your dog and not have to sit outside in the cold feeling unwelcome! Keep up the good work guys!

Fantastic pub, great food friendly staff who are always welcoming and helpful.. even better its dog friendly and have a little dog bar.. all dogs are well behaved and adds to the family local atmosphere

Went with Mrs for food and drinks, soon lost my appetite when a customers dog was running round p*****g on the carpet literally next to where I was sat in front of the apparent bar manager who denied even witnessing it. This will be getting reported to the correct authorities, I've no issue with dogs been in the establishment but when your bar manager is letting dogs wee all over the floor then ignoring what she's seen then had cheek to kick me out for saying something to her. Disgusting attitude from the bar manager regarding this incident, and all your bar staff for allowing customers dogs to run free and not doing anything about it!

The first time we have been here and found it to be a lovely cosy pub. There is a large car park, and I noticed there was a bus stop just outside on the main road. The selection of food on the menu was nice enough. A real variety for everyone. The staff were very pleasant and the food came in a reasonable amount of time. I had the chicken mix and chose the strips, skewers, mac and cheese with chips and mayo. My husband chose the build a burger. Both meals were lovely. Sorry no photos today.

Really nice comfy pub with very friendly and helpful welcoming staff. Nice selection of pub food on offer. The chips and curry sauce pub snack was delicious, and my friend enjoyed the hunters chicken sandwich. Very welcoming to dogs as well.

Food is ok, shame about the bloody dogs all over, constant yapping and dogs in carpeted areas where food was being served. Not what I would call hygenic. Shame, friendly staff and decent food.

Went here Saturday 27th jan for food and drinks with the Mrs. I had chick n mix and got food poisoning it’s now Monday n I still feel unwell after losing a day wage already. If I still feel unwell Tuesday I will b returning n demanding some sort of compensation. I won’t be eating there ever again.

Cheap local pub with OK wine and good atmosphere. We tried the food once and would never eat there again but some people love eating there. Pub is very tired and tatty but staff are friendly and service is good.

Good food and even better prices! A cosy atmosphere where dogs are very welcome. It was very charming with all the Christmas decorations! We will come back!

This was our first visit under this franchise ( tried it many years ago when it was a pub but cannot recall it's name) and unfortunately I was not impressed. The establishment needs refurbishing as the decoration is neglected, the toilets ( male ) are smelly amd have seen better times Not impressed by one customer, walking around with a non sevice dog on a lead whilst we were eating, even though there is an allocated 'doggy bar'.... On a positive note, the food was good and tasty,. Not keen on the over cooked, crispy chips as they appeared to be previously cooked and then warmed up by a re-immersing in oil...

We had to wait a long time for our meal this time. Its usually better. Not enough staff. The eggs were hard on 3 of our meals. We would have preferred a softer egg yolk to dip into. Julie our waiter was apologetic and kind.

First visit to the little mester, food was OK nothing special but neither was the price just run of the mill pub grub at a reasonable price.

Staff attentive, food lovely, it’s just a shame there’s a very small minority who choose to get wasted and abuse staff, otherwise would give 5 stars

Had the mango chicken kebab with halloumi and omg was amazing, tasted just like Nando’s would 100% be getting that again and the biscoff cheese cake is to die for.

Really nice friendly staff good food and drinks at good prices but the pub is very tatty ripped seats peeling wallpaper and broken toilets and the ceiling lots of mold and black marks think Green King should give this pub a make over

Went for a family meal (7of us). The first THREE things we asked funavailable, one member of staff told me this was due to delivery men being on strike. When I mentioned this to the manager she told me that they had a delivery that same day but the items had sold out. The food we finished up with was OK but not what we wanted. The place is looking very tired now .an.some of the seating is in a disgusting state.

Had our first visit with our pooch today, the staff were really welcoming especially to our dog who got loads of treats and sausages. The food was really good,reasonably priced and we'll definitely be back. Thanks to everybody who was there today who made our first visit so enjoyable.

Popped in for a bite last night with my husband our grandson and his girlfriend. First time at this pub. Good food! Chicken wings and Nachos were lovely. Followed by beef lasagne, steak and ale pie and chips, beef burger and chips and chip shop platter. Yummy! Sadly too full up to eat a sweet. Warm welcome and great service from Cameron and Curtis. Thank you 😊 We will be back!

I recently visited this place and yes the food was OK but what made the night was our waitress Cody. Couldn't do more for us even if we asked her too. Friendly and chatty actually made our visit very pleasant. Will be returning again and hopefully get the same experience.

An OK pub, looking a bit tired in areas. Plenty of TV screens if you might find a reason to want to watch some sport, maybe some football for example 😉

Had a lovely waitresses called Cody very polite happy to help and couldn't stop apologising to us, but she had no need, to start with we sent the pint of John's smiths back as it had a tinny taste, needs pipes cleaning, my lattee was so full anyone would have spilt it no matter how careful they were, husbands burger had no flavor , I asked for a mediam steak and got one that was rare, with the blood spilling out onto my plate so it was sent back, it was done when it was returned but it was very fatty, chef needs to pay more attention to the orders and remember to season the food, one of the worst meals we have had

Our local pub which we visit often. Good beer selection, value for money food, friendly staff. Sport on TVs plus other entertainment eg quiz, disco.

Boasts of good home made meals that are served from 12 noon till late night. Drinks also available with ample parking space and an open terrace if you prefer to be outdoors, thumbs up!

I come here quite often with friends and the staff are always very friendly. Lucy and Cody often run mobile orders to me and my friends and are very welcoming and chatty. Their is a great atmosphere and would recommend this place for people who want to feel welcome and comfortable in the community. Food is excellent and Lucy and Ayla deliver great service when giving us our food!

We booked for a family meal just before a visit to the Butterfly House… friendly staff… tasty food - lovely steak and ale pie… my wife’s curry was lovely… good food enjoyed by all!

Waited about an hour for our food. The soup starter was cold. When it came back the dish was hot but the soup was still cold. Stodgy pie crust. Chicken was cold. Even tho the staff member was apologetic about our lengthy wait for food and we were offered a drink on the house, it doesn't alter the fact that this was poor service and the food was awful. Definitely won't be returning to this place.

The food I ordered mashed potatoes pea's pie and gravy. I was unable to eat the pie crust was tasteless filled with mushroom bits in a watery grey sludge like substance. The portion size s where small like children's size but given that size the size complemented the meal as as unable to eat such discussing badly cooked made food.

Was really quiet when I arrived and slowly stated to get busier and the front of house staff gave fantastic service throughout.

Me and my daughter went to visit a friend who lives in Dinnington so I googled pubs nearby and chose the little Mester and we weren't disappointed. We were greeted by Julie the landlady she was friendly and welcoming and had reserved a nice table for us by the window. You could tell this was a pub that is popular with locals with a friendly relaxed atmosphere. We used the app to order our meal which was straight forward to use. The food was great value for money, tasty and good sized portions.Two of us had the kebab wraps that were delicious and one had the fish and chips, she got a really decent piece of fish. Cody who was waiting on was friendly and made sure to check in on us during the meal. I would certainly recommend this pub if you are in the area you will certainly be made welcome and enjoy a good meal.

Love this place it has great service by all team member and everyone will go out of way to help you. Isla is a great team member with a smile on her face all the time and always checks if your food is ok. Would recommend to family and friends it's lovely at little mester.

Been in a couple times now since moving to the area, always a friendly welcome. Food has been spot on. We usally have one of the dogs with us too and they're always centre of attention! Oh and Curtis is a top lad!

The Little Mester is an nice local pub owned by the Green King group. Located in Anston 10mins from M1 J31. They serve a variety of ales and lagers and serve your standard pub food served throughout the day. Only pub in the area still running a football team, pool table, and Dart board are on site and the beer garden is a good seating area outdoor. Some of the seating indoors is well worn and could do with a revamp. Nice and clean inside but the blinds were drawn on this visit making it look dark and unwelcoming inside. Staff were well presented, pleasant and polite. Games night on Mondays, quiz on Tuesday. Gin cocktails and coffee is also served here. Toilets are modern and fresh looking although on this visit the lighting was dim giving a seedy atmosphere and very unwelcoming smells. Everything you’d expect from a good pub, friendly and welcoming staff that are happy to have a chat with myself and my mother -Prue was on hand and so helpful at giving good food options for her!- and prompt service, and a good atmosphere.
