Marina Fish & Chips Restaurant in Rotherham

Sadly yesterday was our last visit after an unpleasant experience with Marina. After many enjoyable visits here for lunch with our 89 year old mum- the insinuation was that we were not old enough for the pensioners special, lol! My youngest sister is 61. We are all in receipt of pensions - there is no reference to exactly what age you need to be for ‘ Pensioners Special’ anywhere. We won’t be bringing our ID to prove our ages as was suggested🙄😂 The fish and chips are good but the rude and unpleasant treatment is not- we will find somewhere else to spend our pensions

Ordered Two all day special fish and chip meals, taste was fine but the portion size especially the chips was very poor, It was as if they was a pensioner special.

I am coeliac and have to have gluten free options Each time we go to this fish and chip shop even though they advertise gluten free they always say that they have turned that fryer off and cleaned it all down even though on most occasion it is only around 5pm It is always when one certain fryer is on I just think it is too much trouble If you don’t want to do gluten free then don’t advertise it We will not be using this restaurant again we will use either Whitbys or papas they don’t treat me like I have 2 heads

What lovely food . The fish and chips were first class . The waitress's were fantastic

We have been to this restaurant several times now for lunch and every time the meals have been excellent, This time was no different delicious, The staff have always been very welcoming and friendly, Looking forward to my next visit.

Sttod in queue 5 mins, staff totally ignored me, didn't even ask what I wanted. They seem more interested in serving customers in cafe side. But shouldn't have ignorance as standard. Better places around that actually welcome customers.

Quality Fish n Chips ,served by helpful and friendly staff, I've only ever had take away, so I cannot comment on the restaurant side.

We each enjoyed a lovely pensioner special today. Friendly atmosphere, attentive staff and excellent quality food. A nice clean and airey restaurant. Fully recommended.

Great Fish & Chips loverly friendly atmosphere

Pretty average fish and chips, the chips could do with a little more colour. My wife had a medium meal and she got a scabby piece of bread and a pot of tea with it. I had a large fish and chips, I had most of the fish which seemed fresh but left most of my pastie chips. The girl that served was lovely though.

We have been regulars at Marina’s restaurant for quite a number of years. Clare the waitress who works on a Saturday is an absolute gem. She’s warm and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. She makes you feel at ease and is really down to earth and welcoming. She’s been off for a number of weeks and we really didn’t feel comfortable without her there. There was an older lady who served us and she was rather rude to me and my mum and my autistic daughter got upset, so we decided not to return until Clare was back. Clare is a great asset to the place and I’m sure the clientele return again and again because of her.

Fish and chips was really tasty lovely place utensils and crockery lovely friendly staff will definitely be visiting the restaurant again

Absolute worst fish and chips I have ever seen. Small portion Soggy and under cooked That little curry sauce it was pointless Dangerously under cooked sausage So sad to see what was once a good establishment left in tatters Also, no kebabs, no large fish. Stay clear

First class food, service and a lovely place to eat.

First time visit, and not a great lot of choice! The fish was like rubber and the batter wasn't even crispy! The chips portion were tiny too! Disappointed and will not be getting a return visit again.

Sat in the restaurant with my partner. The food is spot on. Crispy batter and perfectly cocked chips without being saturated in oil. The gravy and mushy peas were also delicious. Can’t find a fault with this place. Highly recommended.

Chips white fish could do with being cooked a few min longer too didn’t know partner was going here as last time chips were white & soggy Davians much better gutted did eat a few chips as was starving 😞 on a good note the peas were nice

I visited this restaurant on Saturday 22nd July with my husband and 2 grandchildren. The restaurant was clean but when it came for me to order our food there was a problem. I explained my husband had not got a big appetite due to illness and because there wasn’t a “small plate” option I asked if he could have the child meal option. The waitress said no, and said he could have a smaller meal but we would still have to pay the full price. There was only 4 more people in the restaurant other than us so I thought a little more care could have been put into trying to accommodate us.

Totally do not understand why EVERY time i phone to order home made fishcakes they NEVER have any never want to help just simple NO so i just stopped wasting my time gone down hill

Nice fish & chip shop with good parking can get busy but worth the wait in my opinion & also has a fish n chip restaurant too.

We have visited here many times and really enjoyed it . Visited today around one pm what a disappointment .I had scampi and my friend had the haddock the side salad was disgusting watery soft tom brown lettuce asked for tartare sauce it was slimey . When I was asked twice about our meal I explained how awful the meal was the young woman went into the back and quite loud and clear someone said 'So WHAT DO THEY WANT ME TO DO ABOUT IT ..The young woman came back looking quite embarrassed took our £30.00 and we left that s the last time we will be visiting disgusting customer service

Very small portions for fish, bordering extortionate pricing for something so small, a medium fish is now a child size portion gone in four bites.

Yeah had takeaway fron these guys a couple of times so thought we would give the restaraunt a go…. Was bang on…. Fish and chips definitely hit the spot… Thanks,.. would deffo visit again.

Have used this place for few years but tonight our group attended the food was ace as usual but the staff member on duty with big pony tail made us all feel like we shouldn’t be there. She has no people skills and had a frown on her face from walking in we had to ask for everything this is not the type of employee that is good for your business the lady we used to have was amazing this person never even bothered to ask if we wanted a pudding and then she called me back to say I had not paid her enough then she counted it out in front of me and said “oh two notes stuck together”not an apology. I also do not like being referred to as “love”she also severed a coffee which tasted of water no coffee she is not an advantage to your business it will not stop us visiting you but rest assured if we come in and she is there we will walk out. She could not even acknowledge that one of our party was completely blind.

Very nice and accomodating staff. Love the food in this place, portions are very generous and cooked well. The restaurant is also very nice with it's sea theme.

Some weeks you get loads and others it's minimal. I put this down to making chips stretch out if they trying to complete your order. Fish is always white and fresh never had a bad one.

Our first time using the Restaurant for a fish and chip lunch after using the take away many times in the past. We both ordered the Senior Citizens Lunchtime Special (cod and chips with your choice of sauce, bread and butter and a sweet with tea or coffee). We really enjoyed all the food. It was freshly cooked and plentiful, We both recommend the honeycomb and toffee cheesecake (yummy).

Went at the weekend with my partner for some 'Chips & Fish', that's how my partner puts it, as I'm from the West Midlands. We were going to have a takeaway but were persuaded by the very friendly staff & dined in instead. I had a haddock, my favourite of the cod family, my partner had a cod, it was absolutely superb, crisp golden batter, both were a very substantial size, very fresh, all prepared within 15 minutes along with the usual accompaniments, the chips very nice & the mushy peas were 'green', very green, very tasty! The restaurant is very airy with a look out to the outside world, it's advisable to reserve a table & you get an elevated level with posh chairs which can seat around 6 people at a round table. We enjoyed it very much & would highly recommend it if you're around the area for a good old Fish supper!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐💕🎶

I was served Raw uncooked pink fatty chicken meat . Absolutely disgusting waste of £6 meal thrown in the bin. Tight economy and they get away with serving crap like that Absolutely disgusting DO NOT VISIT DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Absolute disgrace, they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it

Went for takeaway on seperate orders, no problem and no stress. Great staff behind the counter and great food to go with it. Never had bad food from the plaice, get it! Anyway nice one Marina

Mosty go for chicken kebab which is really good.

Faultless! Perfect food, staff and price and the cleanest loo I have ever been in.

Food was quite nice though portion size on the small side. Service was excellent, but the menu is somewhat limited. The decor reminded me of a set from Dynasty or Dallas, not as awful as that sounds. But my main complaint is that it was so cold! Very uncomfortable to be honest.

Usually have a pleasant experience when me and my family go there, usually get what we order. Not today unfortunately, its just the little things but at the end of the day we pay for the food and for that service. My mum ordered the Marina special and it should come with bread and butter, 1 of the waitresses ask if she wanted it and she said yes, she never got it and I asked about it, still never got it. I had the salmon and it always come with parsley sauce, never got that aswell. There was also another waitress, must be new because I've never seen her before, she could at least put a smile on rather than look constantly miserable and when I ask her something, not to look down on me would be a bonus 👍

We had lunch everything was freshly cooked and was superb value for money. I had aunch special of fish chips and curry sauce. The fish was cooked to perfection, it was pure white & broke away on pieces when cut, the batter was crispy & light. You got plenty of chips, as it was the lunch time special for great value of £5.50, you also received a free sausage or fish cake. Chips were priced at £2.40 which I thought was also good value at the moment.

I have coeliac disease, therefore require a gluten free diet, and Marina do gluten free. I have been going to the takeaway for over 2 years and never been disappointed. Went to the restaurant for the first time for a celebratory meal. Fish was succulent ,batter lovely and crispy, and chips excellent. Everything was first class. Lovely staff and spotlessly clean. Would highly recommend. Well done Marina.

Just had these fish and chips and can say there the worst I have ever had won’t use agin or recommend

Haven't been for a long time as last time they were awful. Tried today and they were appalling. Batter held on to chewy fish with thick uncooked floury paste. Limp undercooked soggy chips, and very dark green peas which oddly enough tasted ok. All went in the bin. Never again. 😡

Honestly it's a chippy it's pretty average nothing screams out to me just your average trip to the chippy nice quick and easy
