Gaslamp Brasserie & Bar in Rotherham

Came to gas lamp today and Eve gave excellent service,was welcoming and was very freindly and enjoyed it very much.

Food was lukewarm verging on cold and despite telling waiter nothing was done. At £25 for a main course which was congealed and inedible it was very disappointing

Amazing breakfast, excellent service and a lovely cosy atmosphere. Been here a few times and each time impressed.

Lovely food and atmosphere. I do find the poached eggs to be quite hit and miss, although staff will correct any issues without problem.

I always really enjoy my trips to the Gaslamp. the food, drinks and especially staff make the venue very special. I will always try and make it to the Gaslamp whenever I can!

Went to Gaslamp this evening for dinner had the chateaubriand absolutely outstanding Ruby was brilliant and we thanked the chef Simon and his team for his magic the Irish coffees were not quite on point but a lovely meal overall and great service.

Amazing drinks and food, couldn’t recommend enough! Service was amazing the staff are so friendly and welcoming and certainly make you feel special (the girl with the ginger hair) . Had the fillet steak as it was cooked absolutely perfectly. Thank you for looking after us all !!!

Had such a good night last Wednesday for the new menu launch. The service was very quick and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. The food was delicious. We had 3 courses for £29 which is an absolute bargain for the quality. We also had a few cocktails that were to die for!! A++

Popped in last Sunday sat out on the balcony very cosy, blankets, heaters so no chance of getting cold even though it was a chilly day, staff friendly, had a Sunday dinner, very nice, drinks were good .

Great Sunday roast, Yorkshire puddings the size of your head absolutely brilliant. I had Gammon and Pork both were very tender and tasted great. Veg was nice, the roast carrot in treacle was a surprise but tasted so nice. The prawn cocktail starter had an extra spice about it. Would recommend booking as it gets busy.

Overall food is ok with downside most of the time being the long waiting time for the food making us reluctant to head over.

Both the food and staff are incredible. Service is unmatched. The chicken is tender and juicy. We had an incredible night.

Terrible service and food not to expectations, at 7pm we ordered from the set menu to be told that items were unavailable so, we ordered from the main menu, Filet steak chips with garnish along with a chicken dish, the food came after approximately half an hr which was not ours, further when our meal arrived the chicken breast was dry and the chicken wing had been left and burnt along with it whole meal being just warm. There are a few nice restaurants in Wickersley which would have probably been much better that we should have chose, this is our second visit in a couple of years and nothing seems to have changed, we also used Seasons and would probably not go back again. The ambience in both these establishments are lovely its the food that lets them down.

Such a lovely place which is such as shame as the service is awful. The time it takes you to order to the time you get the drink is way too long. We ordered our second round of drinks (no cocktails) and we had to call downstairs (we were sat upstairs on the balcony) to ask where our drinks were. We waited further and our drinks didn't come. The place wasn't particularly busy, we went downstairs to pay as we had waited 20 minutes. The order hadn't been processed. A member of staff apologised but offered no reason why our order hadn't been processed after 20 minutes and 3 bar staff were waiting at the bar, clearly not making many drinks. This is not the first time this had happened to several members of our party, hence the reason for writing the poor review. Really disappointed.

Great welcome, really friendly staff. Hubby had chicken baguette with homemade chips and I had halloumi and salad. Well priced

We visited as a group of 8 for the midweek deal and had a good meal - we especially enjoyed the goats cheese starter and the desserts. The service was outstanding - the staff were friendly and helpful, but they really came into their own when one of our group was taken ill. They could not have been more kind and caring - providing cushions on the floor, then calling an ambulance. They really made a difficult situation so much easier for us. Thank you

Literally just left here. Staff absolutely fabulous, couldn’t do enough, friendly, helpful, really lovely. One meal, really nice, cooked perfectly (eggs Benedict) the other (steak) burnt on outside (and I mean black burnt) tough as shoe leather, chunky chips almost black but also soft and soggy, tomato uncooked, mushroom (well) meal went back, message came back from chef ‘realise not the best meal I have sent out’ . This is 4th time I have visited and 2nd time been presented with inedible meal. Spoilt the whole afternoon

As a local, we have been in a number of times. We booked in today for drinks Only . The food that was being secured to others looked and smelt amazing. I honestly cannot fault the service and the quality of drinks. The recently appointed manager (I don’t know his name, I believe he’s a young Italian chap? ) absolutely amazing! A true role model to the team! It’s not the cheapest place, however, in terms of value for money compared the others in the area … it blows them out of the water! without offers others are only £1 cheaper! This place is a huge step above the rest in wickersley!

Got order wrong we ate separately food poor even if it was half price , go to the W it's same money but much better

We were a party of 12 pre-booked and paid deposit which was £10.00 per person. Our table was ready and available on time. The food was lovely. The staff treated us very well and were very polite and professional. The ambiance was very relaxed and we played games at the table in between drinks and food. A thoroughly enjoyable experience. We would all return there.

Upon recommendation we decided to have a works leaving do here…Sadly only one person enjoyed their (food which was steak)out of 11 people? After preordering we all expected a better deal.The king prawn linguine was I believe constructed with the prawns being added to the sauce as they were two different temperatures overall being barely warm.. The cocktails were enjoyed. Once again sadly they wanted to charge more for a lager shandy than a pint of lager!? Disappointed.

Visited Gas Lamp for breakfast with a couple of friends. The food was well presented, very tasty and reasonably priced. Bonus that the sun was out so the roof was away, a little sun trap! Took a while for the bill to come but that is the only down side we had, the staff were all friendly. We had double poached egg on sourdough with avocado spinach and tomato chutney, priced at £10.00.

This used to be great breakfast and atmosphere but today 09/06/24 it was totally different and didn’t enjoy it at all very disappointed we won’t be going back

We had Sunday lunch and the food was excellent. The service was friendly and very welcoming and professional. Finished off with salted caramel espresso martinis which are highly recommended. We will be visiting again soon

Been here a few times now latest visit was so different and not pleasant. Asked to swap fries for sweet potato fries and got charged an extra £2!!! Why when my meal included fries anyway and surely they are not that much more expensive to buy in. I found a hair in my salad which was very off-putting and the chicken in my wrap was tiny cubed pieces. The place was pretty empty on arrival but we could not go to our table straight away for some reason, even though our table was empty and had to wait near the bar. Would not visit again unfortunately.

Had breakfast for my mum's birthday, fantastic food and fantastic service in a beautiful setting.

Update. Brilliant again last night. Nice vibes. Friendly and efficient team. Good food. The panko lemon sole was delicious We had a lovely time for my wife's birthday. The team were super attentive and the food excellent.

Breakfast get together with a friend. Lovely food and coffee . Not the cheapest menu but food is well cooked, generous portions and beautifully presented. The staff were very friendly and approachable . The property is decorated stylishly

Had a meal on Friday night, again I can not fault this place, great atmosphere. The food was delicious, service was first class & your staff are so happy and friendly, especially Tiago, a credit to your restaurant.

A gorgeous little place . I ordered the fish & chips which looked delicious. The fish was undercooked & cold to touch inside which really put me off and spoilt our meal . Such a shame .

Only had a coffee with friends around 10.15am. Coffee wasn't very flavoursome, service very good, only a few other guests in, could have been a little warmer.

Amazing staff Very friendly and great food

Really good job at deco and ambience overall. We have all been there loads of times now and will keep coming back again. The only reason I wouldn’t give it 5 stars is that the service can become slow because they are regularly understaffed but I will have to say they are best compared to anyone else near by so we will have to keep them busy

Best Sunday lunch I've had, great service and atmosphere.

Lovely looking place. Good atmosphere. The food was an extortionate price. The pork belly was advertised with crackling. No cracking served and the tiny bit of pork was a lump of fat. Very disappointing; especially at the prices charged. Staff were very pleasant but it was made clear that we’d have to eat and go as there was another table booked. Given the long delay between starters and main course, it’s just as well we didn’t have pudding.

Was really looking forward to trying this place after recommendations from friends. We don’t mind paying a decent amount for good food so never put off by prices. The starters were okay but very small portion and nothing to write home about. Both ordered steaks, the fillet was bang average and the sirloin was terrible. I can only describe it as leaving a musty after taste in the mouth, maybe it was a reused pan from another dish?. Inedible. Seemed like they forgot to season anything including the chips. For the prices they charge, underwhelmed is an understatement. Maybe we caught them on an off day but either way, we won’t be back to find out.

I cant stress enough just how good the food and service was at The Gaslamp, we stumbled in after a long shopping day and were not expecting much. The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff were absolutely lovely, so attentive. Price wise was perfect as well, we ordered from the set menu so it really didn't break the bank, will definitely be returning 😀

Afternoon treat for me and my wife today despite the horrific weather. Hats off to the staff, as they'd sorted some issues and provided a great service. The burger and fish finger sandwich were outstanding. I've only given 4 stars not 5 as I was incredibly disappointed with the cheese board. £15 and we barely got enough cheese to make a butty... Plus no chutney!!. Didn't spoil the afternoon and we will definitely go back... But come on Gaslamp, sort the cheeseboard out!! 👍🏻👍🏻

This is my fourth visit for food and again it was very bland which is a real shame as for the price you would expect much more. Looks nice on the plate but not much taste at all. The place is nice for a drink but the service is so very slow. I wouldn't personally return for food the Courtyard and Olive Lounge are much better.

6 of us went on Sunday for breakfast. It’s a lovely place with a nice atmosphere. The food was really good quality, tasty & very reasonably priced. I have only given 4 stars purely down to the service. There appeared to be only 2 waiters at 11am when we arrived & it was busy. Neither of them cracked a smile the whole time & hardly spoke whilst serving us! We had our order taken swiftly enough, but both drinks & food were slow to arrive. We then had to ask for sugar when the drinks did arrive, & sauces when the food came as no one asked if we wanted any. Such a shame this service is letting the place down as the food was so good. Wouldn’t stop us returning, but would just make the experience so much more enjoyable to be served by friendly, efficient staff.

First time visiting today for Sunday lunch. The food was amazing, the beef was served just as I like it and all the accompanying sides were delicious too . One of the best Sunday lunches I've had.The staff and atmosphere are perfect. Well worth the visit and will definitely be going back.

Delicious food and the decor is lovely. The salads were spectacular. I was cold however. I had to keep my jacket on.

Called in for drinks only. Had to seek waiter to order drinks.

Went for Sunday lunch celebration. Starters fine and desserts fine. Main course a different matter. Huge Yorkshire pudding overpowering plate and 1 thin slice of beef 30% fat on mashed potatoes with side veg. My partner had pork which was served in chunks which she was not able to cut with thick layer of fat around the edge. We were being hosted so did not complain straight away as to not embarrass them. Saw the manager before leaving who was most apologetic but really the meals were not of a standard to warrant the price.

Nice food, forgot about a couple of times

Visited last night with a group of friends for a birthday. Food lovely but the service was awful. We had to keep trying to catch the eye of the waitress to get things. Not attentive at all. I did tell them that the service was terrible.

Outstandingly sumptuous food, service 10/10: came as part of a birthday celebrations because we know one of the chefs used to work at the milestone, which was a favourite eatery of ours. The scallop for starter was a triumph, the main of duck breast with the malbec pairing was wonderous. Service was pleasant and attentive without being obsequious, and both waiters were absolutely lovely. First time I've been and I will 110% be back.

Came here for birthday celebrations with friends and family, we were all well looked after by the serving staff. Food was delicious and will be back to try more of the menu. Also a kind gesture for the staff to offer a free cocktail to the birthday girl.

I came here at Christmas for a meal and it is well worth it for that special occasion. Don't expect Weatherspoons prices, but remember, you get what you pay for, amazing food! You can also nip in for a drink, where it is table service only.

Really underwhelming to be perfectly honest, the food was something I’d expect to get at a Wetherspoons. Had the burger and the roast chicken, both mediocre. Ended up at the restaurant next door for desert. The interior and decorations were like a display in The Range or Dunelm, tatty old velvet stole dining chairs that were dirty and falling apart, couldn’t imagine having any more fake plants dotted about. The female staff downstairs were lovely and polite, the only redeeming quality. But I would not recommend this tired over price restaurant. Money grabbing at the end of the day really…..

Visited for Sunday lunch as a party of six and we all had a great experience. The food was absolutely gorgeous. My beef was served pink as requested with plenty of veg and perfectly cooked roast potatoes. The wine list was very reasonable and our red wine was very nice. Afterwards we sampled a few cocktails which were also very good. It was our first visit but won’t be our last. All six adults enjoyed their meal, fab food with very attentive service. It’s a 10/10 from us

Really disappointed, the service and food was not good. Not once did a staff member come to our table for anything, we had to try and get their attention for drinks/food/bill/payment and often had staff rolling their eyes or blatantly ignoring us. When we finally got someone’s attention and asked for a drink they would walk off before anyone else could order one too. We had to pre order our food which is fine (despite being told the new menu wasn’t ready even though it was posted on Facebook the day before…) however our food still took an hour to come. There was no apology or anyone asking if we would like another drink while we wait etc. The menu is very over priced, and the food was very bland. A lot of us went for the ale battered codling fillet (as it was the cheapest option at £18) however the menu states it comes with scraps, which it didn’t, I had three small potato’s on mine and an inch of burnt batter around the fish. Also no salt pepper or vinegar on tables. I should have raised this on the night however.. couldn’t get anyone’s attention! Also there was no soap in the ladies toilets and the hand sanitiser boxes near the bar were empty… ironic considering there are still covid warning posters around.. Would not recommend nor come back, sorry!

Excellent breakfasts and great choice

Visited twice in the last two weeks and have not been satisfied either time. First visit, I opted for the Sirloin steak (£34) which was fatty and tough. After asking for a steak knife, I was told they didn’t have any. My friends braised beef was charred and black. Wish I had taken a photo. Server questioned colour was when asked. It tasted like charcoal. Second visit, the food was better but the service was very poor. All the basic have gone out of the window. I had to get up and ask for salt as the attendees were too busy chatting at the bar. Again, we had to ask for water and no one came to check on us at any point during our meal to see if everything was okay which in fact it wasn’t for one member of the party. I won’t be going back.

I attended the Gaslamp last night for tea with my partner for the first time (I've had breakfast their a few times) to try their new summer time specials menu. 2 courses for £25.00 or 3 courses for £30, every Wednesday and Thursday evening, which also includes a small glass of wine, pint or soft drink- which I think is an excellent deal! We were greeted by a magician, who did a couple of magic tricks as we waited for our table and again came over to our table whilst we waited for our starters. Very talented and added to our experience. He even gave us a card as a souvenir to take away with us. What can I say... the cocktail I had was amazing (Passionfruit and Rose martini) and the food was some of the best I have ever tasted! The service was just excellent! Very chatty, always got a smile on his face and nothing was too much trouble. He even removed the roof from the outer section to show my partner, as he was very interested to see this. haha! Thank you so much and we will definitely be back! :)

Yeah place was "alright", very quiet but was fine. Parking was tricky as it's very limited. Didn't have food, just a few drinks on the balcony. Would I visit again...? Maybe but wouldn't rush to go back.

The staff at The Gas Lamp, are friendly, polite and nothing is too much trouble. The food, is exquisite. Service is fantastic. I would highly recommend, I can't wait for my next visit.

We have been to the Gas Lamp on many occasions and the food is always outstanding! Staff are polite and friendly and there’s always a lovely atmosphere! We will definitely be returning!

One of my favourite places for breakfast/brunch around our area. Been several times with several people, groups, couples. Great variety of food on the menu & drinks. Great, friendly and helpful staff. Easy booking system, never had a disappointing visit. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

We called here on our way to a hospital appointment, which is only relevant because of the length of time taken for service, which was almost 1 hour from being seated. Fortunately we had left plenty of time, but it became an anxious wait and we had to eat more quickly than usual to make our appointment. That was a pity, because the atmosphere and decor are lovely. Having ordered one sandwich and one wrap, we didn’t really anticipate such a long wait. Unfortunately the food didn’t make up for the poor start - having ordered a wrap which was described as being chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese, avocado, Romaine lettuce and garlic mayonnaise, the only contents were lettuce, chicken and a fairly plain mayonnaise. There was a great deal of cucumber in it, which is not on the menu description, which was a problem for me, as I do not like cucumber. The fries that accompanied the sandwiches were very good, and the salad fresh. It was perhaps telling that at no point were we asked whether our food was OK. I’m afraid we would not return, primarily on the basis of the delay in service, and I am unable to recommend the restaurant

Nice atmosphere, comfortable seats, but slow service and food disappointing. We arrived en route to a hospital appointment with a good two hours to spare. Having ordered a wrap and a sandwich, we were getting a bit anxious when the food hadn’t arrived 55 minutes after being seated. It duly arrived, but we felt under time pressure which rather spoiled the enjoyment. When the food finally arrived, having ordered a wrap with chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese, avocado Romaine lettuce and creamy garlic dressing. Mine had chicken, Romaine Lettuce, plain mayonnaise and lots of cucumber, which is a problem for me as I don’t care for cucumber! It was the dominant ingredient. On the plus side, the fries were good and the salad fresh. Unfortunately we wouldn’t return nor can we recommend, primarily because of the slow service, for which no-one apologised. Interestingly, at no point we’re we asked whether our food was good either.

Went for breakfast, which was good. Good range on menu, beautifully cooked and presented. Had to wait for half an hour for it to arrive though.

I have been here a number of times for breakfast and for cocktails which are both always really great, I would recommend to all my friends and family!

The waiter didn't know the soup du jour. They forgot to make one of the appetizers and we had to ask after it 5 minutes after the others were served. We were never asked how the food was. My appetizer Tuna Tartare was a very dark colour unrecognisable as tuna. And it was inedible as it had an unbelievably massive amount of salt in it. I left it on the plate but the waiter never commented when he took the plate. We all had the Chicken Kiev main but it had no butter in it as it is supposed to - even though the menu stated Garlic Butter. There was a small amount of pea sauce but very inadequate so the chicken was eaten just dry with no sauce of any kind. Very poor. The deserts including Treacle Pudding were excellent, greatly enjoyed. There was a table-roaming magician who was also excellent.

Only ever had breakfast here and enjoyed it every time! Staff are attentive and food is delicious, what more could you ask for?

Lunch ,very disappointing fish and chips .. fish grey , very pale batter .. not cooked fully . Items missing from what was described on the menu .. bread and tarter sauce. Not what was expected for this establishment and for the price . Desert again disappointing..bland and poorly presented.

Great experience at the gaslamp for breakfast. Lovely atmosphere, the place is spotless, including the team, who are nicely turned out. Fully recommend going out for breakfast there. Full English is mega, pancake stack is huge and full of flavour. We loved it so much, we’ve been back again!!

Regularly call in for breakfast. Coffee and eggs royal are always spot on. Service is great and staff friendly.
