Thurcroft Fish Bar in Rotherham

After standing outside in the cold, I spent over £30 on food without salt and vinegar even through I asked for it. Chips that was still hard. Tasteless and couldn't eat them. Don't be returning. Fish batter is not fluffy at all.

What a lovely little shop! Popped in to pick up some dinner for my grandmother and a family member and was given a piece of chicken to try, it was so flavourful it ended up swaying me to order a portion for myself! Grandmother said the fish and chips were lovely too. Staff are super friendly, will definitely go out of my way to go there again!

Brilliant service called in after a long day's work. This shop is a hidden treasure cash only but the staff and owner where very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Prices very very reasonable was not expecting to get this quality for this price.

Comes out hot and fresh every time and is always a large portion. People there are always nice. If youre new to the village or is hungry but nothing to order. Go here.

Lovely white and tasty fish again with chips and curry sauce. Staff friendly premises lovely and clean highly recommend here since reopening with new management.

1st time calling but didn't know it was owned by someone who I knew from a previous chip shop. Lovely choice and the price was really good

Went to get fish and chips, but it was closed. Went again another day and it was still closed. Apparently the owner is retiring but we still don't know if it has closed permanently or not.

I use this chippy most weeks...can't fault it ...

Travelled down from whitby ,to visit family called for fish and chips and must say they was better than wot we get in whitby the fish was absolutely beautiful would highly recommend this fish shop and will definitely be in next time we are in the area

Had to go back and rewrite my comment about this it use to be good till I and my boyfriend got sick 3days ago we know it was the fish doctor said food poison and had to get medication.

I’ve always been very satisfied with the quality of the fish and chips here and I’ve given them a lot of my custom over the last few years. However today I visited and bought fish and chips, the first time for a couple of weeks and I couldn’t believe how much the prices had been hiked up !! I know things are happening with fuel bills etc but the people in Thurcroft just can’t afford to pay these prices !! The standard of the large fish I had wasn’t up to standard either, despite the high price. Very very disappointing 😡

Although it’s local and I have been because it is local I still find it very uncomfortable to visit. I get the covid restrictions but they go to extremes and the staff thrive on it by using it as an excuse to be rude. So much so that I now drive to The Fishnet in Dinnington. Their product is OK (not good) and often their choice of pies is limited. Just let down by unhelpful and scary staff.

Never had to complain about the food everytime I've had something. Staff polite and friendly.

Very nice fish and chips. The battered sausages are amongst the best I’ve had. The whole place is very hygienic and there’s not one thing out of place in the serving area. The language barrier can be a bit of a problem though, and the staffs ability to train a new employee is very poor. Overall, great place to eat, rubbish place to work.

Left us waiting 30 minutes when we was first in que, served 5 other people all who got their food before us (not pre orded customer etheir) , wasn't even a big or complicated order, definitely not going again would of been quicker going out of village and back again Not just us, my whole family have said they take forever to serve & cook and no longer go Chicken kebab was awful too

Just had our family fish & chips, one of the fish was a fresh cooked haddock, not only was it too big for the dinner plate it was white milky fish in beautiful light batter. The whole meal was scrummy, thank you

Nice staff, very friendly. Chips nice, I prefer more well done, but tasty as they were. If you like your chips lightly to medium cooked you’ll love these.

The best fish and chips I've ever eaten. Perfect even for the most demanding. The food is always fresh and the portions are more than generous. Last but not least, the staff is extremely friendly and highly qualified. It is definitely a place to return to with pleasure even if you don't live in the neighbourhood.

Best fish n' chips bar I've ever had the pleasure of ordering from. You get the best value for your money, as the employees there fill the casseroles and the pitas as much as humanly possible 😂 Seriously, sometimes I wonder how they close them! They have a variety of options to choose from, you can get kebabs there as well. You can't go wrong with this place. You'll be thanking me later :)

Great food as always! The mixed meat and chips is always tasty. Would recommend. Only thing I find is they rarely ask is if the customer wants salt and vinegar on there chips dunno if it’s a Rotherham thing but I’ve Never know a chippy not to ask the customer if they want salt and vinegar. Other than that great chippy 👍

The art of fish and chips has been slowly eroded over the last few years. As a general rule, if a chip shop has a kebab spinning round at the back, the fish and chips will be rubbish, cooked in hydrogenated oil, greasy and bland. This shop has a kebab spinning at the back. Ours no better or worse than every other high street chippy. For real fish and chips, look for a shop that only does fish and chips

poor portions. my wife picked me up a lunchtime special of pie and chips as a friday treat. treat it was not. i literally got around 6 chips plus a few overcooked chips plus the pie. £3.80 for that is ridiculous and i will not be going back there again
