Had Sunday lunch and it was so nice, beautiful country pub atmosphere and service was 💯 definitely recommend

Wonderful place with a massive car park. The food was great and fairly priced. Service was quite quick and they had 2 real ales available. See you in 2 weeks.

We've been here severely times for the Yorkshire ASBO Society Car Meets which are always very relaxed and have a great atmosphere. Pub seems cozy and the pies are alright.

Very nice little pub, went to car meet there, staff were great and I had a enjoyable evening. Worth a visit.

Only called in for a pint when out on my MTB. Always warmly greeted lovely sitting outside in the warm sunshine . I will be back

A friendly pub tucked away in a valley bottom village. Small selection of ales etc. Dog friendly. Loads of free parking. Seperate dining room. It hostes car and bike rallys and the occassional music fest. Well worth a visit.

Frequently visited as part of fund raising and nights out for local charity. . Staff are friendly, atmosphere relaxed, and nothing is too much trouble. Would highly recommend for special function or for the entertainment they provide.

I have been going to the travellers now for over a year for their act night and all I can say is wow! The talent of the performers is unreal. The atmosphere in the pub is outstanding! Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff, they are so friendly and approachable. The pub itself is spotless, well decorating and looked after perfectly. It’s just a shame this pub doesn’t get the recognition they deserve.

Absolutely love this pub. It is my go to for when I go out anywhere for a quiet pint. Have amazing turns on every month and everyone is super friendly. The staff are second to none, always helpful and you are never waiting for long to get served even when it is super busy. I would 100% recommend paying The Traveller's a visit especially if you like a well looked after, quiet country pub drinking establishment.

The most friendly and warm welcome from the staff. The pub is so clean, well decorated and nothing is ever too much trouble. A real diamond of a pub.

Family run pub. Absolutely brilliant. It's what we have needed for a long time. Beer is really good, and not to expensive compared to other local country pubs.

Redecorated, Refreshed and set to be be Reeeeaaalllly good with a new chef on board soon we're told. A very warm welcome given and received for these folk who look like they'll make a great Go of our local. Well Done and Welcome! Had a pint of lager and lime, and on asking why it was so expensive, was told lime juice is charged at 60p a dash.No chance of going there again!

After several changes of ownership in the past few years, I'm sorry to say the Traveller's Rest has sunken deeper and deeper in terms of quality. Very sad.

Very overgrown garden. Only went inside to toilet and that left a lot to be desired. Very dismal and dirty looking inside.

Great pub with quite a lot of quiet outside space and gardens to get away and have a nice peaceful and safe drink during covid. Fully recommended.

We walked in to have food and there was no one at the bar, we asked if the food side of the place was actually open as there were no menus on the table and no one at the bar, to which a man from the other side had to go and get someone. The owner came out and said with an attitude after I asked if they were open ‘well obviously because there’s a bar full of people in there’ for starters there was literally 3 people lmao. He was rude, obnoxious and we will definitely not be returning any time soon.

Had a booking for 25 people for my daughters 14th birthday, the staff were great our food came out all together and everyone said how lovely the food was, deserts were beautiful. Staff more than happy to help and assist with the birthday cake, we all enjoyed the night especially my daughter and would definitely do it again, highly recommended to anyone who wants a big booking or even just for a quiet meal. Love this place and it’s lovely setting and staff.

Poor Poor Poor. Where to begin. The function room is advised to hold 50 guests. This is fine if your happy to be packed tighter than a tin of sardines. WARNING We had 30 and it was cramped We attended a christening there a few weeks ago. While setting up we were advised that this was a private function room but upon arrival we found kids playing in the room and customers using it for access. The 2 slowest bar staff who looked like they didnt want to be there was another major issue especially with 30 guests arriving. The Cold Buffet was arranged for 15:00. The Buffet finally arrived at 16:50 with No apology. Totally Unacceptable. We booked our engagement party there as it brought back memories of my partners childhood. This has now been cancelled. When I explained why the response from the staff was OK Fine Bye. Management need to have a long hard look at this before they lose more business

As soon as me and my husband walk in you just wanted to turn back out but we thought we’d give it a try. The room was cold the chips under cooked definitely won’t be returning back

Overall really good value, friendly staff. A couple of changes to say a bit more about their food (particularly the on the day specials) could help as I didn't get a clear idea about what would be served without having to ask, with this I'd have changed this to 5*. The pub is in a lovely location, our food was served promptly, generous portions and very tasty.

The last review I gave was on the lovely food and steak we had here. After the recent visit something seems to have changed and not for the better. 45 minutes it took for steak & chips and my partners burger to arrive. The burger was tasty with the dripping gravy but my steak really was a let down and the mushrooms that came with it were inedible, hard and shrivelled up. Bog standard frozen chips that were tasteless and the steak wasn't a good piece of quality meat. Sorry but we wont be returning for a while, hopefully things will improve

Walking day out with dogs came across travellers rest lovely area and outside space for families

Booked in for 17 people for Christmas menu on a Saturday evening. Table presentation was poor only 1 cracker on each place setting and a very drab offering of a napkin. At this point it is worth saying that for a Christmas event, the Christmas cheer was definitely lacking in the room (not even a tree, bauble, tinsel or Santa in sight). We all had starters, mains and dessert courses. Soup was cold, mushrooms were cold, prawn cocktail was very small. Turkey dinner again was very cold and most people left it due to the taste. Festive burger looked pretty good, however, soaked in Cranberry sauce was an interesting challenge. Overall the selection of desserts was ok. It would have been nice to be approached by the staff to ask how things was going, however, no one asked.

Wanted to book a wedding here for September 2018, didn’t bother as was messed around so many times that we couldn’t deal with the stress!! Visited in september 2017 to organise booking our reception. We were met by Nathan who seemed nervous to the point of crying when we asked basic questions about booking and prices... very unprofessional. Thought about looking elsewhere, then gave them another chance. Arranged another meeting with his wife in October time, she seemed more with it, confident and assured us of the prices, we asked what kind of deposit they would accept, to which she said “you can just pay it all on the day itself, if you like.” We wanted to pay some form of deposit to secure the date, naturally, so she said £50 would be fine. I also asked how much it would be to set up the room and she said she wouldn’t charge as she sets up weddings “all the time” and it takes her “no time at all”. So after we left we arranged to pay the deposit 6 months before (March 2018). I emailed sometime in the November 17 to finalise some arrangements, didn’t get a reply for almost 2 week and got told “sorry we’ve not had time to reply with it being bonfire night” sorry are we not important??? Two whole weeks?? Then the prices started to change, I was told room set up was now £60 and that Charlotte had never said she’d do it for free!! Should have sacked them off there but I thought We’d give them the benefit of doubt. So I rang to arrange my deposit in the March as agreed, to now be told they needed 50% of the entire amount upfront. Again I was told, no we never said £50 as a deposit!! This was the final straw, why would they ask for such a large amount upfront? We were worried our money would be lost, and they were probably going to go bust, so took our business any money elsewhere!!! I don’t know how anyone has arranged a successful wedding through these unprofessional people!!

I have eaten here quite a few times now and never had a bad meal. The pub also caters for my gluten free diet. My choice of meal usually consists of chicken or steak and it has always been cooked to perfection and plentiful. Service is good and staff are friendly. It is also lovely to sit outside under the trees on a sunny day.

have used the travellers for many years, if we did not think this was a good place to visit we would not be writing this review. good food, good prices, good food menu and in a very nice area, plenty of car parking spaces, outside eating area safe area for kids to play

Lovely place, set in great surroundings. Good food at good prices and reasonably priced drinks. Very cosy and well presented dining area with seating available outside in the garden with space for kids to play. Dogs also welcome outside in the garden area

I went here on a Tuesday night with a friend for tea, it was quiet so we seated ourselves we had to get the menu from the bar as no one came to see if we wanted one, we looked over the menu and it seemed to have a good choice and so we ordered from the 2 meals for £10, I ordered the “roasted tomato soup” as a starter I thought it would probably be homemade but when it came it turned out to be unmistakably a small bowl of Heinz cream of tomato soup with a very thin sad looking piece of white bread cut into half I couldn’t stop laughing as the cheek of advertising it as anything else was so funny to me, then the mains came I ordered a chilli... the only way I can describe this is as gravy gloop it was runny but some how gloopy with hardly any meat and tasted like last Sunday’s gravy with some spices added in also it had water logged yellow rice which was clearly microwaved or boiled in a bag from a packet the whole thing was completely inedible, I didn’t want to send it back as the staff seemed pretty unfriendly with forced smiles but I had to there was just no way I could eat that - after the waitress said “what’s wrong with it it’s supposed to look like that” I knew I was in one of Gordon Ramsey’s kitchen nightmare type of pubs! She sent out someone else out from the kitchen presumable the cook who looked in her early 20s she asked me what I wanted to swap it for so I opted for something I thought would be a safe bet and fairly quick as my friend was now halfway through her meal - a chicken burger - how wrong could I be?? It came in super fast time (always worrying) the bun looked nice but the chicken was coated with some rock hard southern coating that was hard to bite into and the chicken itself was very poor quality parts of it looked grey - it came with some anaemic fries which hadn’t been properly cooked, needless to say I left most of it all in all one of the worst meals I’ve ever had, also to add to the unfriendly ambience the cook came out and was talking with the waitress and bar staff at the bar while looking over to our table clearly the fact that I had complained had caused some bad feeling I have never felt so uncomfortable in a pub and will not be returning. Also with mentioning there was a party of people behind us who also complained about their food. Enough said.

Travellers Rest is a slice of heaven based in one of the most photogenic villages in Rotherham. The service is brilliant, the regulars welcome you in like you've been the for years. Dodd is a great price and so is the drinks

Been here a few times with it being local and cant complain for the value of the menu. Not tried the two for £10 meals as yet, we always have the steak or surf & turf which has been lovely each time with a tender piece of steak cooked just as we asked, we will return. Thank You

Booked a table on Saturday night for my daughters birthday 8 of us in total including teenage children. What a gem food was of excellent quality and very good value for money. Starters were £2.99 garlic mushrooms and plenty of them slow roasted tomato soup...

We have had drinks in the travellers rest but not had the cheeses and pork pie platter before. Tonight we ordered Somerset Camenbert and Yorkshire Blue cheeses plus a Huntman pork pie between two of us. We were so pleased it came with onion relish...
