Davian's Fish Bar in Rotherham

Not as good as use to be.Last couple of times theres been a issue1. charged twice when i ordered online got 2nd charge back a week later but not nice getting messages from your bank saying overdrawn when wasn't my fault. 2. Didnt get all i ordered when i rang ahead. Got refunded next day but spoilt my dinner that evening when was really looking forward to it. Will go back to Five ways from now on.

Just been to this chip shop today and my first time. Absolutely love the cod and curry sauce. I just dont like it mix up as they pour the sauce at the top of the chips and fish, which make it soggy but otherwise it taste really nice. Will recommend to anyone.

I have used Davians for last 5 years and now it's gone down the hill. Lunch time special is now £5.95 and the box is very small with a small fish and hardly any chips. Fish & chips quality has gone down at Davians now. Very expensive for the portion you get now. Prices are going up regularly.

I don’t normally leave any reviews but I’m sorry Davians but Iv been coming to your shop for over 15 years and you food is going down especially you having the best food around Rotherham you are letting your customers down price going up and portions going smaller I ordered large fish and chips few days ago and the chips were cold and not really cooked the fish was ok you need to better I’m very disappointed in the standards off your food lately

Food is really nice, just sometimes the fish is a miss, overcooked and tasteless. Just depends what day you land on. Good portion sizes and well priced.

Chips were absolutely disgusting eyes not taken out lots of black bits on chips some not even cooked and tasteless absolutely terrible

Love this chippie - haven't lived in this area for 30 plus years - but when any of our family is visiting this is a must for our first dinner - and it doesn't disappoint!🥰

We had to travel North unexpectedly at short notice and after a long journey we needed refuelling, Davians Fish Bar was recommended and it certainly met with it. We joined the long queue for take away but the staff were brilliant, quick to take the order and get our hungry tums filled, this was all done with a smile, a joke a friendly and in a helpful way. The food was naughty but very nice and excellent value.

My son went in paid for food and as he was walking out the staff shouted thank you, he is shy and didn't say thank you as he said thank you she goes loudly in front of the everyone this boy has no manners but what manners do u have picking on a 12 year old about manners, shame on u every child is different and there is no need to embarrass the child

Fish was off and tasted old and also was grey! Fish went straight in the bin.. chips stuck together and beans average … just a massive let down as heard it was a great chippy.

Huge portions Lovely fish. Deja vu: My mum asked me to pick her up some fidh and chips from here. I knew as I was standing inside, that it seemed familiar. I asked one of the staff if they'd been there long. When they said "since the 70's" I recognised it as the place my dad used to take me on a Saturday evening to get the Dr Who viewing dinner. It was great then, and it's still here 50 years later. I think that says all you need to know. Highly recommended! They even do "scraps", if you remember those from being a skint child. 🤣

7.40 for a small chips and Donna meat really and it wasn't that nice. Never returning to this place again

i walked inside the shop i saw raw pigeons being fried and they were walking in the shop i saw rat tails in my chip butty. as i walked out the shop i saw pigeons swarming me as tried to eat they took my food and attacked me. "Absolutely dreadful experience! The fish was as soggy as a wet sock, and the chips were so greasy they left a permanent stain on my clothes. The ambiance was reminiscent of a dingy basement, and the service was slower than a snail on vacation. Save your money and your taste buds, and avoid this fish and chips disaster at all costs!"

This place is not what it used to be, the fish quality has gone downhill, hardly any fish and is mostly batter! The customer service is non existent and i was charged a lot more than my order was!! Not sure if this is on purpose but some other reviews suggest the same, so guess they rip you off!! Morbid staff, the woman serving me looked like she didn't want to be there. I won't be returning!!

Food has gone downhill recently and the prices keep going up. Got charged £15.95 for one lunch time special which is normally £5.95!! paid by card (contact less) which i didnt realise at the time when i did realise and contacted them, they thought i was lying!! becareful when paying by card as this has happened to a friend too!! Shocking customer service!! I have been a regular customer for over 10 years too but wont be going back!! WELL DONE YOU LOST A GOOD CUSTOMER!

Always the best chips n peas. Couldn't believe the choice of food. Chicken wings, rice, kids meals including crayons and small colouring book too!

I've knocked a star off because parking close to it is a nightmare, but it's well worth the effort. Superb fish and chips, the fact it's full tells you a lot.

Chips here are mid, nothing special. The prices went up and my interest was lost. It’s okay if you are walking around the area and want a quick bite to eat.

Very good selection of food freshly cooked will definitely go back there.

Been to Davians today for the first time in a while but let me tell you the food as got better than it was when I used to go years ago. The Greek chicken gyros are to die for and the service is second to none. If you’re looking for good clean takeaway food I’m Rotherham then trust me this is the place to be. 100% perfect in every aspect 👌

batter on fish half cooked - clearly fat not hot enough to cook. Inside of batter still mushy and mushy yuk ! Not been in for couple of weeks but wont be back it was awful. Go to 5 ways - Ringobells or somewhere they know how to cook fish

Had fish and chips today. Not the best iv had but it did the job. Fish was tasteless unfortunately. Normally food is tasty and top quality but today it lacked alot in flavour.

Used to love this place. Cant understand why staff place items like the card machine or other items on top of the wrapping paper for chips like someones food is going in there use your common sense and also handling ppls dirty cash and then serving food to customers like how is that hygienic. Health and safety need to give some instructions about this for real! So sad when there is so much potential

Sub par Fish and Chips Very greasy Fish, probably a reflection the oil needs to be changed. Chips were average. Service was good but would not go back again.

The nicest chips with the most amazing sized portions! The naan kebab was huge & was enough for 2 days. Chips were so nice, crispy yet fluffy on the inside. Perfect 👌. The staff were so welcoming & friendly too, first time to this chip shop & will definitely be visiting again!

Prices have gone through the roof keep changing all the time yet chips are always undercooked and raw, numerous times this has happened. Sausages are drowing in grease, its all you get when you bite into it is a mouthful grease no flavour fish is just a soggy mess all i can say is its just greasy food if they gave it time to rest it would be okay but since covid hit its just gone downhill

Sub par food rude staff with a even ruder “gaffer” (kitchen hand last year lol) Refused to fufuill dietary requirements and allergy in regards to sauce and refused to deal with my needs as a customer in a humane manner not some kind of jumped up robot . Staff member was standoffish and clearly unhappy in her role avoid like the plague . Manager also cooking without a beard net to stop loose hairs falling in ew .

I have to say Damian’s reputation as a chippy is very good and usually I find thier fish and chips nearly as good as the marina in raw marsh. However on this particular night the fish and chips I got were poor to say the least. However all catering establishments have a bad day and I think this was for davians. Would I go there again …yes certainly

My Family have been ordering from this chippy for many years, and the quality of food has always been incredible. Unfortunately the service recently has taken a turn and the staff have been quite rude on some occasions. Its very rare that orders have anything missing, but the staff refused to credit for the lost item and questioned on whether we had proof that the item was missing. We will not be returning and have found an alternative for our weekly order. Also I'd reccomend ordering online if you pick up, as the ques for walk-in customers can be a very long wait. Parking is also a nightmare due to location.

I had better chippy and fish from here and it’s changed a heck of a lot, the batter is uncooked, the chips are old. And the staff are just as bad, they don’t wear gloves or a net for their hair like they used too! And they handle the food with the same hands they used to touch money. This isn’t just the first time that this has happened.

Been going to Davians for years and never been disappointed. Today was no different. Theres good takeaways and there’s Davians, exceptional. Always busy always fresh food and in my opinion always tasty. Good portions and good value. I live a couple of miles away and drive past many others to get to Davians and will continue to do so.

A long wait outside, despite ordering almost an hour in advance. All the other same time orders, plus later ones came, collected and went, whilst I stood for 20 minutes in the rain. Good food, as always and pleasant staff, but additional requests on the order were ignored.

Friendly staff and excellent food

Unfortunately on my visit, their advanced ordering system, seems to be at the cost of people who visit in person . I was ignored for 10 minutes by the staff who were l completing pre ordered food orders or speaking to folk at the side window. No explanation or apology. Quite rude, but chips were nice!

MMM...TASTY! I heard this place has been in business for some years now in Rotherham & its obvious to see why.. Super friendly staff, quick, efficient at serving and most importantly acknowledged that you as a queuing customer actually exist! Shop is an absolute delight. Very clean, VERY busy. Beautifully cooked tasty food (the fish is excellent) All priced well for the area. A must go-to place for the area. A big thumbs up and 5 stars!
