Nice food, nice staff and nice price. But the toilet needs a bloody good clean and the pub itself could do with painting again this century.

Had a lovely meal here on saturday , food was the best i have ever had at any green king pub , compliments to the chefs , staff were very friendly and made our visit very special with the welcoming and friendly hospitality, top notch customer service , what a great team , the manager was very accommodating and made us feel welcome and comfortable with any of our needs , it was lovely to be greeted with such enthusiasm and kindness. Beautiful pub , amazing food , great staff , lovely management. Will be visiting again! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Absolutely disgusting service, was booked 3 weeks in advance for my dads birthday, we arrived with around 60 men surrounding the bar, we were stood there for 20 minutes so we went up to the bar and were told to “just sit down” and were told there’s barely any staff as they’ve all left. Absolutely disgusting that we wasn’t notified and no respect for a family walking in, would not recommend.

Had a fantastic night here Saturday with the DJ playing fantastic soul tunes, lovely atmosphere with friendly people and great to have a dance. Hope this continues every month.

Fantastic food and service. Value for money. Friendly and helpful staff and manager. Have eaten here at lunchtime and evenings with family earlier in the year and have found the service and food to be fantastic.

Food and staff were lovely. Long wait for some food, 6 eating and 4 had finished by the time the last meals were served. No fish and chips and no burgers as the buns had been recalled. Also sign said table service but there wasn't. Very good pricing.

Came in for dinner with my family Restaurant was not upto standard Neither was the food was sent back twice Staff & General Manager Tim were well below par they all seemed clueless and not bothered THE ONLY SAVING GRACE THERE WAS THERE AMAZING ASSISTANT MANAGER MATT who was polite and welcoming and was so over worked and fixing others mistakes Been a couple times and never seen the GM only ever Matt who is always working his fingers to the bone and that's why given 5 stars on service that 5 stars is purely for Matt He should be running the place he is great with customers and seems he is only one who truly cares about the place. MATT YOU ARE SPOT ON WITH YOUR MANAGEMENT SKILLS The rest of you should be ashamed of how you were in our visit

This is the first time we chose to eat here, on a Sunday evening with family. It was pretty empty but that didn’t matter. They seemed to be very short of staff and everything was rushed. Drink orders weren’t correct. No cutlery or napkins on the table. Tables from the lunch service not cleared properly. The starters came out separately, mains too. The food wasn’t great, I couldn’t eat much of mine, soggy Yorkshire pudding and very fatty beef. The server changed and it was the kitchen caterer who was serving us. Very slapdash. Rowdy people at the bar, swearing and shouting, not an ideal atmosphere for a family meal. I’m sorry to say we will not be returning, which is a shame as we are local.

Really good Sunday roast and plenty of lovely fresh vegetables staff were very friendly but not enough of them so service was rather slow

I was greeted by assistant manager Matt when I arrived, he was very friendly and helpful. He recommended some dishes for my partner and I and they did not disappoint. The food was exquisite and beautifully presented! The service was excellent! Matt made our experiance seemingless, checking our food was okay, noticed our drinks were nearly empty and came over to ask if we wanted more. Even when the place was becoming busy Matt made the time for us, quick and efficient but not rushed. We were very impressed by the staff, atmosphere and presentation of food, drinks and pub.

We popped in to the Marquis of Granby spontaneously after visiting a nearby baby/toddler event and we were not disappointed. Staff were very attentive and went above and beyond to serve us well. As a group of 5, we ordered quite a lot of dishes including starters, mains and desserts and all of the food came out in a timely manner, all well cooked and well presented and at the perfect temperature. We had no complaints. Their choice of music/playlist was a nice accompaniment to our overall experience, playing all the old school bangers that we hummed along to! Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area :)

Amazing place to eat and have a drink. Myself and my partner came here today at open and we were greeted by the Assistant Manager Matt. Very friendly guy and very welcoming. We then sat and ordered and our food came out swiftly and tasted amazing. The beef and beer croquettes were delicious and the burgers were superb! Matt checked in every now and then to make sure everything was going well and the food was good which was a very nice touch as not a lot of places do this anymore. Matt was also saying hello and goodbye to all the patrons during our stay which was also nice to see. We will definitely be returning here again as everything was perfect from start to finish. Came here last week spoke to James the manager on shift who was very nice and polite, had a great pint and some lovely food nothing to complain about!!!!

We were not warned on booking that they were holding a disco that night. We were trying to have a family meal but it was too loud for conversation.

I’d give zero stars if that was an option. Came here for a roast. Service was slap dash. The wait for food was far too long and the food itself was fairly substandard. There was more gravy on the underside of my plate than on top. Half a roast potato (and deep fat fried). Burnt cabbage. Undercooked parsnips. Yorkshire puddings unpleasant. Gravy had skin on it. When asked about our food we said it was very underwhelming- we were told they were doing their best! It’s not good enough! Asked if we wanted dessert while we were still eating the main. Will not be returning. There are so many better options for roast in this area. Give this place a swerve The diners around us were also unimpressed

The food was not what it said on menu The meatballs are more like a sausage and it was hard. And food not very warm. And some of food was under cooked.The service was not bad.

It was my first time visiting this place as a local and it was absolutely lovely! Amazing variety of food, friendly staff and wonderful interior. Very convenient for the locals and visitors being easily accessible by road and foot! I have heard live music will be playing here soon, so I will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend.

I spent the evening here with family enjoying one of their monthly Soul Night events on Saturday. It was a great atmosphere with friendly people enjoying the music + drinks. The staff behind the bar are on point with service, very nice, we didn’t have to wait long at all receiving our drinks. I’ll be back again very soon for dinner, I love the pub & the warm welcome you get when you walk through the door by the staff, my new favourite place to come. Thanks again.

I felt that place was just a pub, not a restaurant. Food was pub food . Customer service was not that good, short of staff. Normally at the restaurant they show your table and give the menu but we waited on the table for about 20 min no staff member came back so we ordered food on their app.

I have to say that had to be the worse roast I have ever had and the starters was awful . I can’t cook but I could cook a better roast than that . You had 2 young boys serving everyone, they kept taking food to the wrong tables . Had no uniform on , just in tracksuit and trainers on . No pad to take orders on , I’m not surprised they kept taking the food to the wrong tables . I’m not blaming them but the management needs to sort that pub out . I would never go back there again and you should defo get a better chef

Really nice pub, nicely decorated...Staff are brilliant. We've been a few times and enjoy it when it's busy and when it's quiet. Very family friendly-kids options are great. Sunday roasts are good... They even do their best to fit you in when their fully booked. Great parking. Good music.

This is a nice pub with a nice atmosphere. We didn't book a table but they made sure they got us seated and took our order quickly so we didn't have to wait. The roast dinners were nice but I ordered scampi, which was very small and came with very few chips. The other order was gammon and chips, which was also small. The puddings were great and I highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding.

Food is the delicious. And it is very clean in there . And the mash is the best . Angel rose 8 years old

If I could give less than one star for the food I would! I had the mushroom pie. I've had worse but I can't remember when. If youre prepared to send a search party out for the mushrooms and use a hammer and chisel to tackle the pastry then I suppose you might find the pie quite palatable. Dreadful food.

A superb venue for a party. The staff were fantastic, especially James. The party food was delicious, particularly for vegetarians, but I must say the pork pie was the best I have ever tasted. Looking forward to our next visit , thanks chaps

Hired the dining area for a surprise 60th birthday party and what a success it was! The service was incredible, thank you so much to the staff who made the evening perfect.

I visited pub with my family today it was very busy still one Indian guy wearing blazer made sure we are comfortable. We ordered roasts and kids meals and will give 10 stars if possible adding 5 for the efforts bar and floor staff made. Food and drinks got delivered on time. I would to appreciate management, bar staff and kitchen for making our visit marvellous. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.

I went there last weekend for a few drinks, and here are my observations. The location of the pub is excellent, it is very spacious and has huge parking. It wasn't very crowded when I was there with my wife. The staff at the bar was efficient and courteous. Special mention to the indian bar tendor and Merian. I did not have food. Hence, the review is strictly drinks, atmosphere, and service.

Food was nice and reasonably priced. Service was OK if a little lacking. Did right by advising on slight wait on food (really wasn't that long), checked in on how food was and acted quick to correct a couple of errors but also seemed to forget about clearing the plates, gave mains whilst we were still eating starters and one guy struggled a bit in understanding what he was delivering. Would still go again.

Actually, I increased my rating from 4 to 5 as the food was very good and they have a varied choice of beers. We had an issue with the taste of a beer but after telling big James, the lovely waiter changed our glasses and gave us a free half pint to apologise and to show us they'd replaced the faulty beer. Two lovely staff both called James (big & little) were very nice and attentive. Big James has a good sense of humour and made me laugh! I'm so sorry to have forgotten the name of the lovely and friendly waiter who gave us such an amazing service (and is handsome to boot!). You know who you are: you said you're from India and chatted with my husband about the places he visited in India. The pub had a good vibe and is architecturally beautiful. The place was warm and there was quite a lot of families having lunch in the dining room. The rooms were clean, welcoming and warm. If you don't want to be around children (which I don't mind), there's other areas for having a quiet drink (their cocktails have very affordable prices). Good food and beer, lovely staff, very large car park and clean toilets; What's not to like? I highly recommend the Marquis of Granby!

Thanks to Vishi and team for the warm welcome and quick service - for the kindness you demonstrated when we needed to pause our order because of our young person being dysregulated. Food was great value esp the 241 deal and portions were large and tasty - Good quality ingredients.

This place used to be my regular but haven't been here for years due to previous bad service and cold food served almost every time but popped in just before Christmas and was pleasantly surprised, I asked if there was new management and it was the new manager I spoke to who was really nice a friendly. Went back again a few days later with my partner who was sceptical due to past experiences and again food and service was great. We will definitely start visiting this pub again. Friendly staff, good service and great food. Well done to the new manager and his staff.

We stopped by on our way back from a visit to Hampton court. The outside was a bit grubby looking & the inside definitely needs some tlc BUT the food was fantastic & the staff were absolutely amazing! Very friendly & couldn't do enough for us. The chief even came out to see if we were happy! That's a first! We will most definitely return & recommend 😊

Came for a meal on Sunday. We have not been for years since it was a carvery so we weren't sure what to expect. My husband and I both had roasts which were lovely. I had the beef and he had the turkey. The portions were huge with a lot of meat and a nice selection of vegetables. We ordered extra roast potatoes (just in case) but needn't have. The gravy was lovely and yorkies were perfect. My son and his girlfriend had burgers and said the flavour was amazing and my daughter had chicken strips. We were surprised by the amount she received and she really enjoyed it. Only disappointment for my husband was they didn't serve Thatchers cider (his favourite) as they had Thatchers glasses on the tables. For the price we paid, this was an excellent meal at good value. There was plenty of parking, the toilets were clean (if not a bit cold) and the staff were great.

Nice place, although outside looks like it did 30 years ago. Looks tatty, but inside some care been taken. Warm and welcoming, food was good and portions were towards the large end of the scale.

I've been here twice for a family meal, once for a big family meal (12), and once for a funeral wake. All times it's been clean, staff are friendly and efficient, and the food makes you want to return. I highly recommend this place.

Group of 11 for Sunday Roast yesterday and must say was impressed with the quality and service. Price point was great too! Would definitely recommend a visit as also recently been taken over by Greene King too.

I've had better and I've had worse. For the price it wasn't too bad, but the fact that they'd lost the booking for our party and were working a limited number of tables, coupled with the fact they appeared VERY short staffed, seemed to make the whole thing a bit chaotic.

The Marquis of Granby is a pleasant, traditional pub with a nice atmosphere. I haven't eaten there but have seen food being served to tables which looked good. It has a very large car park and is conveniently situated.

We had no booking, late on a Sunday afternoon, a week before Christmas Immediately a staff member found a table for dinner We had two main courses which were really tasty. Service was attentive.

Terrific meal, great atmosphere, ideally located and excellent cheerful service from Russell who made us very welcome

Had the Hunter chicken and it was bad! Not cooked properly. Soggy and bland. I complained and didn’t need to pay. Won’t go there again.

Very good pub with large carpark and garden overlooking golf course. Staff were super helpful and friendly, and gave a dedicated area to us. ( we were a film crew). Great lunch of Hunters Chicken warmed us up. Highly recommended. Simon.

I came here with friends for my birthday and had the best time! There was ample parking too. They stocked the drinks we like and the service was on point. My friend's kids played outside and didnt want to go home! The food was delicious and I hear that their Sunday roast is even better! Can't wait to come back.

We held a funeral reception at the Marquis of Granby last week, and were very pleased with it. Despite being unexpectedly short of two chefs and one further staff member on the day, the team produced a very good finger buffet for over 50 people. Tomas and Russell were extremely helpful both before the event and on the day, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend holding an event at this venue.

I was served by a lively man called Thomas. He was really knowledgeable, kind and got the job done. All my food was just as I wanted. Definitely coming again!

Very quiet pub - not many customers when we visited which is a shame - roast was OK but the roast potatoes and the stuffing were a bit shrivelled and dried up! - lamb shank meat was really good though - service was friendly and pleasant.

We thought we knew the M of G having driven past it so many times, but decided it was time to finally pay it a visit and we were not disappointed. Sunday roast was excellent: lots of tasty food with all the trimmings, all well cooked and served with a smile by Russell and the team. The pub has a very relaxed atmosphere and is family and dog friendly with plenty of parking AND was exceptionally good value. So rather than drive past I suggest that you drop in for food and a drink or two - you will enjoy it!

So please we decided to give The Marquis of Granby, Esher a try. Our Sunday roast was ‘just like Mom’s’, and the service was 5/5. Great value for money. Will be back.

Lovely meal, delicious food and super friendly staff. Children’s meal is such good value too.
