Hemos estado recibiendo nuestras cenas de pescado con papas fritas de los viernes de Marlow Rd durante 20 años. Excelente cada vez! Estamos muy mimados en SE 20, ya que hay varios chipspies excelentes, pero Marlow Rd siempre es nuestra primera opción.

Me encantó la comida increíble de Bacalao, exactamente lo que mis amigos me aconsejaron. Las porciones son masivas y el pescado es fresco. Verdadera pescadería inglesa.

He utilizado este lugar durante muchos años. Tengo que hacerme eco (y gustosamente) de que este lugar es el mejor chippy de Londres, sin concurso.

Totally totally stunned. Just walked into Marlow chip shop to buy a small supper. I asked for the smallest size chips and a beef n onion pie. When ordering I asked if the pies were microwaved? No I was told. The proprietor came out from the kitchen with a freshly microwaved pie, the lady serving seemed somewhat uncomfortable, probably as the proprietor and micro waver totally contradicted her in front of me, awkward. Here comes the really difficult bit. I could see from the price list that the pre bought ( Peter’s) pie was £4.80 but hey I was hungry. The lying serving lady then put said smallest portion of chips in a small box and as she proceeded to unwrap the peters pie she told me that would be £8.00. More awkward I felt. I explained that I understood the pie was £4.80 ( a whole £1.50 more than the area norm) but that surely half a portion of chips could not possibly be £3.50. Here comes the really awkward and rather inflammatory issue…. She then sneered at me and said I knew you’d say that….. I was in possession of £100 and a debit card with a decent capacity, so was more than able to pay a reasonable price for a reasonable product, but there was no way I was paying the extortionate prices being asked. As I left the owner/microwaver waved and smiled sarcastically proclaiming bye bye in an extremely patrionising manner. I left, This all happened in Penge, a relatively low income area, I’m utterly astonished at the asking price these folk attach to their basically average and pre bought mass produced product I intend to go back and discuss the matter with the microwaver and his lying assistant over the weekend. FOLKS, AS LONG AS YOU PAY THESE UNREASONABLE AND UNJUSTIFIABLE PRICES THEY’LL KEEP CHARGING THEM AND THEY’LL KEEP PUTTING THEM UP. Thanks for taking the time to read this regrettably negative review. The tea, chicken, and steak were absolutely delicious. But the highlight? Hulya. Super friendly and knew the menu like the back of her hand. She made our outing feel like a special occasion. If you visit, ask for Hulya – she’s the real deal!

Excellent food every time ,freshly cooked to perfection. Lovely people been running this place for years. I have moved from area several times and have traveled back for Marlow road as do my parents from caterham . Well done guys !! ❤️

The owner buys fresh fish from Billingsgate market and fillets himself . Been going here for 35 years even visiting from South Africa . I found it incredible he's never entered into the completion for Best fish and chip shop in Britain . Every meal is consistent , perfect fish flaky and with a moist texture , batter is always perfect and the chips well in a league of their own . He buys the finest Saveloys in . I know of family that drive miles just to go here passing dozens of other chippys on the way . From a food business owner myself Marlow road have produced outstanding consistency and set the bar in fish and chips excellence . I took the time to write them a letter from Devon after I went to the so called best fish and chip shop in Plymouth that was voted best in Britain . If I was going to open a franchise group I would ask them to do the training , that's how good this place is . Colin Goodman , Devon

Nothing comes close in terms of quality of produce and taste to Marlow Road. This old style chippy has been supplying outstanding fish and chips for over fifty years. Adam and his wife are the second generation of this family business, and he guards his well earned reputation jealousy. They is meticulous in everything they do. Even the wrapping of the food is done with loving care and precision. Like many of their customers, we travel a considerable distance, and pass many take aways ,to get to Marlow Road. Definitely worth the effort. Very covid aware.

Serioulsy, this family run business has all the old school values and service with a smile. The best chippy in the South East....we moved from Anerley to Croydon and still go there, such lovely people and the best fish and chips.

For more years than I remember I have been buying my fish and chips here, and driving or cycling passed many other places. It is easily the best fish and chip place more miles around and better than several in South London that trade off a hyped up reputation. It is all to do with freshness of fish and quality of batter and cooking oil.

Always perfect, great haddock and the spam fritters are delicious, I’ve never had a bad meal from here and Adam the owner is lovely chap.

I can’t believe I’ve just found this place after 10 years living in the area. Hands down, the best chip shop for miles. The place looks like it’s still in the 70’s which is great! The food was amazing and reminiscent of my childhood chip shop In ireland, absolutely delicious!! Thoroughly recommend.

Tried the chippy several times over the last 20 years. I've never had a decently cooked portion of chips. God knows why Adam hasn't cottoned on to the fact that they require a final high temperature dunk in the oil before dishing them out to the customer.

I have used this fish bar since I was about 6 years old and continue to do so to this day as its the best ! The fish is tasty and the chips ate perfect ! Long may it continue!

Great little authentic fish and chip shop! Definite highlight of the fast food shops in this area. Good value and lovely staff

Established in 1962, this simple traditional English fish and chip shop serves some of the best fried fish in the entire area, possibly south London. Family run, friendly and step back in time you can't ask for better fish and chips. We have been eating here for18 years. Fantastic!
