Marley’z is a bar situated in the heart of Derby City centre and to be honest I am going to struggle doing review for this but here goes. It is like no other place I have been to locally, it is run down, rough looking and you get the feel a fight could happen at any time. Surprisingly it’s also a vibe and plays all old school reggae and soul music and is a surprisingly good night with cheap drinks. Very unusual to visit but a pleasant experience, I wouldn’t go looking for trouble mind.

Wandered in not quite sure what we’d find, we went looking for something to eat and drink. At the bar a young woman called into the kitchen and a bloke called Ken introduced himself as the owner and cook and told us what food he had cooked for the evening. I had vegetarian stew with rice and dumplings which came with a great home made coleslaw side salad, delicious. My friends had jerk chicken and chicken curry with rice and dumplings and side salad. We all agreed the food was excellent and the price was very good. There was a dj in the back room playing top reggae and dub sounds. Really good and highly recommend.

wouldn't waste my time and money traveling to marleyz restaurant in derby again no where to park and take note this is not a restaurant its a dull bar with rubbish selection of food .......

This is genuine authentic Jamaican cuisine. The food is so tasty - genuine home cooked food. Don't expect a multitude of dishes to choose from - this place is as real as it gets. What's ridiculous is that meals are only £5. £5!?!? Ridiculous. If people weren't sheep and went to chain restaurants like Turtle Bay around the corner, life would be much better! Long may this place live!

Found this place by mistake last month, asked about and got nothing but great reviews about it, so we decided to give it a try last night. It was early doors so only a couple of people in there, we were made to feel really welcome, great atmosphere and music, especially as both of us love Reggae, I can't say enough about the food, it was very nearly as good as my mother-in-laws, luckily she won't read this. Also great value for money and larger portions than expected for the price, unlike another Caribbean restaurant. We've already planned our next visit and taking the mother-in-law with us this time.
