The loopy Chief Executive in charge of M&S who claims to know “Mrs M&S” has taken another giant step in destroying M&S The Deli restaurant in Cribbs M&S has been closed down and removed Not only has the Beijing women’s clothing become a complete joke but the oasis where customers could have nice food and drink has gone Great management decisions More money available to pay buyers to cruise around the Far East looking for more disgusting clothing to buy by the container full and tell “Mrs M&S” this is what you want to wear 🤪

Can't believe it, made the journey from Hampshire to Cribbs for X as shopping and so looking forward to our usual lunch a the deli. SHUT! What an absolute travesty, this was one of the main reasons for travelling to Cribbs. Just spoilt our Christmas shopping trip. M&S appear to be losing the plot.

So sad to see that the deli bar is shut and not reopening?!! Why?? Always always busy, yes a little cold but that could’ve been rectified? Seems M&S not listening to their customers?

Well the Deli is closing, not sure why ...... perhaps it's because of Marks and Spencer failure to listen to their customers. Absolutely freezing cold in here, the only restaurant I have ever been to where you need to wear a coat to eat. The food has however always been pretty good. It they thinks the first floor cafe will be a replacement in any way then think again ...... it's an absolute pigsty, dirty tables, uncleared and inexperienced disinterested staff sums this up. The occasions we have been in for afternoon tea then we have had to clear crap off the tables. AVOID and star rating 2/10

I really used to love going here but it’s changed it doesn’t feel so clean and the staff there used to be so friendly and attentive. None of these things this time. Food ok, salad seemed a little old not nice and crispy. I hope it was a blip or just a busy day. I will return one early evening when shopping to see as I do enjoyed having a drink and snack in the middle of shopping.

Just to add to previous comments regarding the temperature I agree but if you sit on the other side nearest the wine dept it is much warmer. it’s a shame though that the environment is not a little more salubrious as the food is absolutely delightful perhaps it could be cordoned off with curtains and made a little bit more attractive to create the ambience it deserves!M&S take heed! However still love it! Watched staff preparing meals in front of customers everything picked up by hands ! from meat, fish, bread, and cheese then touching the till, the door to the kitchen, the fridge doors etc. Serious cross contamination going on here( have photographs to prove it !!) Noticed the staff wear hairnets but touch everything in sight without washing their hands or using utensils to put food onto plates !!! Reported it to store Manager who said thanks for mentioning it !!! I will return to see if this is happening again and will take it further if not satisfied!!

We were quite excited to try this place after often passing it on our weekly shopping trip.We arrived on Saturday around 12:30 and although it didn't seem too busy there were plates piling up on the sides. We patiently waited at a chair for 20 minutes trying to get the attention of one of the 3 members of staff who seemed entirely consumed in a conversation about something clearly riveting. We left after failing to even get a seat and will not return.

We have eaten here many times but not thought to review it. We both decided to have the steak sandwich (aged beef and cooked to order) and it was perfect. It was served by Mark who cooked it and it was accompanied by a glass of Nelson Pinot Noir wine from New Zealand. We normally would have a glass of champagne to start with but we felt the Pinot Noir suited the steak better. Really good and highly recommended.

After finding this restaurant on the ground floor, we found it to chilly to sit in the rather small environment and enjoy lunch, so moved on!! It is next to the veg, fruit and flower section , therefore has cold air blower or shelves that keep it chilly, not a problem if you don't mind that sorta thing, we do! As for the restaurant itself, very clean and tidy, the usual M&S; menu and sensible prices, enjoy your meal if you go and if you found this review helpful, I'd appreciate your tick, thanks. BM

I love visiting the deli bar at M & S but this time the hygiene worried me. I normally have prawns but not sure I will ever have them again there. I saw how they prepared the food and this time I noticed that the waitress just picked up a handful of prawns in her hands and put them on the plates. She dropped one and just picked it up again. Surely she should not be picking up fresh fish with her bare hands? Also this time we ordered our food and drinks, but our drinks arrived after the food was given to us. The guy who served us forgot about our drinks - the female waitress was very apologetic. Normally the service is much better than this - shame it was bad this time.

Popped in for a coffee at about 2'ish on a tuesday afternoon in November. The service seemed incredibly slow, we waited about 10 minutes for a tray then another 10 or 15 to reach the service area, we had picked up toasties but the word coming back down the queue was that they took 30 minutes to heat so we put them back and selected a sandwich instead. The coffee, when it came was hot and good but the wait was staggering. Surely they need more staff or better equipment.

Stop here quite often for a late lunch, my last visit found the place a shambles. Far too many people waiting far too long for drinks and snacks. Waited over 15 minutes to be served 2 coffees, the staff kept changing and people ordering after others were served before them. When the coffee eventually arrived it was nothing like the coffee usually served in M & S elsewhere, it was very watery and bitter. Not a good experience, where is your customer service M & S? Why is this cafe so badly run?

I do like the platters. However, the last time we went, the staff just walked around in circles, shuffling menus about instead of asking us if we wanted dessert or not. When we eventually managed to get the attention of one of them, they just thrust the bill at us. I've had better service in a fast food chain represented by a certain red-haired, big-footed clown. As for space, when it's busy, it's like dining in the armpit of the person next to you. For somewhere where everything is out of a packet, you're best off paying for the same things in the shop and having it at home; at least the people you live with will be nicer (hopefully).

First of all it felt odd sitting along side shoppers but then when talking with staff, looking at menu, looking at everything staff were doing it began to feel very comfortable. Menu was quite large and we chose steaks cooked medium to rare which were perfect. We only had soft drinks because of driving. We are looking forward to going again and having scones. The service could not have been better or more friendly. I was driving so couldn't enjoy a glass of wine but was offered chilled water at no extra cost. Instead we picked up our drinks they opened all the tops to our drinks and then asked us if we wanted any food and we were told they had run out of pretty much everything. After dining at the deli bar yesterday i was expecting much. After the food court being full i went on the prowl for another place to eat, i can see why this was the case. I sat and asked for a menu, which took more than 5 minutes to arrive. There was an older couple next to me who said they had sat just a few minutes before. They were also waiting for drinks which they had ordered prior to myself. However mine arrived first. The beer itself a lovely Czech Pilsner was great. This couple, my new acquaintances had a couple of good jokes over the waiting times of our food to be ordered as well as the drinks to arrive. When i asked for the 2nd time for my food order to be taken i finally got a response from the frantic barrister. Pouncing on this starving myself and the couple both ordered. However they didn't have my first choice, a smoked bacon burger, so i had to change my order to plougman. this did save me some money on a £10 lunch deal. Within two minutes three plates arrived, none of which were ours, now feeling like i'm dining with friends as opposed to solo, we had some more laughter over the service. My food arrived, a de-constructed sandwich, i successfully pieced it together and took a bite. The couple next to me still without food were speaking to me in utter jealousy. One of there dishes arrived.. a cold meat platter, luckily for the them it was cold so it didn't cool before there second hot dish arrived. I asked to pay and not so surprisingly my bill was wrong, the woman informed me that the beer i had ordered wasn't part of the deal and it was only peroni. Fortunately she changed this afteri explained to her what i had been subjected to for the last half an hour. Bad representation of m&s for an outside catering company. NEVER AGAIN.

The food was nice but the side order of fries was slightly burn and they agreed to not charge us for it. My only criticism is how cold it is in then. You are right beside the fridge and freezers. Such a disappointment this visit. The menu has been changed again & no seafood platter! Had crab salad, which was nice but not a patch on the platter. My husband ordered the lobster platter. Oh my goodness what a disappointment. The meat from the tail was almost non-existent; it had been replaced with a moose!! There were some nice prawns, but on the menu it did say Lobster platter, and the cost was £20. He spoke to the manager; who said he should have been advised, when he ordered, that there was not much lobster in it! It was replaced with a crab salad.

Visited the Deli Bar today for lunch as we always do when shopping at Cribbs Causeway. The staff are lovely and no complaints about their friendliness and efficiency. On the food front, my daughter had the steak sandwich which she said was cooked perfectly and very tasty. I had the small plate of chorizo and peppers and found it really disappointing. Four very small slices of chorizo served on a watery bed of limp red peppers that came out of a jar and it was just really poor. The cost of this little 4 mouthful plate was £6.85 and I found that quite unbelievable. We also found 4 dishes unavailable on the deli menu and no alternatives are offered. This is disappointing when the menu is not that extensive. The final comment is about the temperature!! The Deli Bar is freezing, it receives the full blast of the Food Halls refrigerated counters / air con system and is far too cold for an eating place. On previous occasions, i have never found the Deli Bar to be this cold or a portion of food to be this small and represent such poor value. Come on M&S, if customers are at the centre of you business and value for money is your mission, you can do better than this..

We found this purely by accident as we had never seen a M&S deli bar before, such sophistication is thin on the ground where we live! What a brilliant idea and great to see M&S doing something a little out of the ordinary. It was busy but we were lucky to find 2 seats together at the bar and were served promptly. The entire area was spotlessly clean and, despite being small, I found the high stools easily accessible. Having my hands full of shopping I was delighted to find a hook under the counter to hang it all on!! We had lovely hot soup with delicious breads plus coffee. Around us people were eating a variety of things: sandwiches, tortilla, salads and all looked delicious. Some were drinking coffee and tea, others what appeared to be champagne. It all looked very wholesome and very M&S in the quality, it was just the deli bar idea that was different and highly successful. M&S should open more as it is innovative, yet has their stamp of quality, and brings a touch of class and an alternative to their usual boring 'canteen style' of restaurant. A success I would say!

I visited the Deli bar and ordered the Eggs Benedict - which were hardly warm and contained quite a few pieces of egg shell. When I brought this to the attention of the staff, the chef came out and said 'I have inspected the "shell" [which I had left on my plate] and that is actually ham'. I can assure you it wasn't ham - and I took a photo beforehand to prove it. This defensive reaction, rather than an apologetic one, was unexpected and quite rude and condescending, because I know the difference between ham and egg shell. I have to be honest, I was then quite annoyed that there was no good will offer regarding the bill. I was charged full price for a meal that wasn’t nice – or a pleasant experience. I used to work for Waitrose and we were trained and encouraged to always ensure our customer had a good experience – and if they hadn’t, to try and fix it in some small way. The staff were not sympathetic or apologetic – I actually felt like we were an annoyance – it’s a shame that our brunch and subsequent browse around the other departments was tainted. Not a very happy customer and next time I’m at Cribbs Causeway I think I’ll go to Pret.

I have NEVER experienced such rude poorly trained staff EVER.Our problem started when I complained that the steak sandwich that my Husband usually ordered arrived with onions on, unfortunately my Husband is allergic, so I called the waitress over and explained that this ciabatta didn't usually have onions on, her answer was 'it's not onion it is an onion chutney'!! She then took the ciabatta way, put the two small peices of steak on a plain ciabatta roll and basically through it at us, I told her that this was a discusting presentation and it was not our fault that chutney was now being put on the meal! But it appears that the Staff are more important than the customer in this branch. We have since visited for lunch, more fool us, where we have been met by stoney faced miserable staff, obviously word has spread among the small staff and chef there.Out last visit was last week, we place our order, there were about four people ahead of us.We received our drinks a Latte that was so weak I had to return it, and an Americano that was half full. (after we sat down I did catch the chef peeping out of a small window on the door at us)After about 45 minutes, our meal had not arrived, we decided to call it a day, we asked for the bill, and when the bill arrived our meals were listed on it, I explained that our meals had never arrived, the waitress said we have had a problem with the till and the meal order had not gone through to the kitchen, why this warranted a smiling face from the waitress is beyond me. I explained that the four people ahead of us had all got there meals. She actually stood there and expected payment for coffee.( we didn't pay). There was no explanation of why every single person at the counter had received their meals apart from us. We complained to the Manager of the store, who made all the right sounds and expressions, I would have been more impressed if the Manager had taken our name and address. This counter needs their entire staff replacing with fully trained personal. These days people are lucky to have a job, it is not rocket science to be a good waitress/Waiter. It is a nice place to work and I suspect it is not to taxing. The staff look and act miserable. Our faces are know there and not once have any of the staff aknowledged us in a freindly welcoming manner. The atmosphere there is awful, when we call over a member of staff they do everything in there time, you wait until they are good and ready to wander overI reccomend that if M&S insist on keeping these staff they all attend a PR Coarse, o and teach them how to smile, when a couple stop there for lunch, it is not just about eating.I have previously worked with members of the public, and amazingly if you treat them with respect and do the basic politeness thing, public can be very nice and you enjoy your job more.We have given M&S chance after chance, but until this counter is run properly we will no longer be visiting, so congradualatuon all the staff at the counter two less customers to serve......If any members of the public are thinking of stopping for lunch there....keep walking......P.s We were also the only couple to not get biscuits with our coffee, and the staff do take tips when they are not allowed to accept them.Lastly ...it is far to cold there.

We've never been able to go here before because it's always so busy but not this time. Perhaps we should have thought a bit more about the reason for those. The older female member of staff there on the afternoon of the 10th of May ignored us completely. She noticed the counter was dirty in front of the couple next to us who had arrived well after us and sorted that out despite the fact it was much worse where we were sat. She took orders from several people around us as if we were invisible despite our attempts to attract her attention. By the time a male member of staff finally served us we had been put off by the poor service and unclean surroundings and just had a drink.

The M&S Deli serves reasonable food, largely because the cooking is automated. For instance, the manager explained to us that the pasta is cooked automatically by a special machine, so why we had undercooked pasta was inexplicable. Yet, it was undercooked. However, my penne and pesto was lovely and was just what I was looking for. We were told we would have to wait till 12 noon before ordering lunch (it was 11.55am), but it still arrived at about 12.25 anyway. This underlines the real reason we wouldn't return to M&S Deli: the food is reasonably tasty and reasonably priced, and the wine is good because it's straight off the M&S shelves, but the service is terrible! We were there for an hour, which was way longer than we expected. This was because of poor all-round service. While we were there, we heard at least three other complaints, with one couple actually leaving. I'm sure this isn't the sort of 'experience' M&S wants to encourage. Our waiter wasn't polite, wasn't attentive, was blasé and had dirty fingernails (yet still handled the raw Parmesan cheese).Get the staff sorted and the rest will follow.
