Marks & Spencer Cafe in Dudley

Usually very good service but today pale white cold chips came with the chicken burger and the tortia was missing the rainbow coleslaw, on return of plates as we were dissapointed i overheard all the comments from the kitchen staff which were very UNPROFESSIONAL. lost customers for that alone.

We went to M&S cafe for brunch and asked if they had any gluten free bread and they only had rolls and they couldn’t toast them so my wife asked can we choose any single item on the menu as she would have had some mushrooms we her rolls but they told us that we can’t choose individual items and I thought that as a big supermarket they would have had some gluten free bread and that we could have had at least some mushrooms on the bread but we got told sorry. It was so disappointing from a big company as this.

My partner and I ordered a breakfast and bacon roll, the breakfast was cold, the bacon was almost raw and the eggs were hard. The lovely lady working there said she would crisp the bacon for me. All the staff work extremely hard but the chef needs training how to cook.

Second time attending second time breakfast cold, advised they are kept warm in a bain marie which suggests to me that the water is cold in the bain marie. It is not really acceptable one full english one advocado on toast with bacon and two coffees just short of £25.00 and all cold, sent back and it came back reheated not re cooked fresh. This is worse than Wetherspoons but at three times the price I will never go back to eat here.

A good menu that has something for everyone. The staff are friendly and pleasant. I have to say I go for cleanliness and have stayed for the food, friendly conversation and nice atmosphere

M&S are so very lucky to have such dedicated staff. They work like trojans. They all support each other. Each one of them gives 120%. Just cast your eye over just what they achieve between them. I applaud them for such commitment of service to us the Customers. I find the menu rather boring & probably needs a revamp. I’m a returning customer because of the welcome you receive from the staff. Nothing is to much trouble. Thankyou.

Very disappointed with Marks and Spencer cafe Merry Hill. Only one member of Staff delivering food and cleaning tables. This is the second time this week for terrible service. Cheese and mushroom toasty undercooked. Member of Staff moaning about colleagues. In general both stores in Merry Hill are badly understaffed. Come on M & S pull your fingers out and give us the service we pay for and deserve or no more custom

I don’t why I came here again. It’s so poor. There are often queues and waits whilst someone argues about something to do with a Sparks card with the till operator. The staff clearly don’t like each other given the way they abruptly talk to each other. I must say it’s the older staff not being nice to the younger ones. The lady on the till was surly and not pleasant or welcoming. My £6 jacket was slammed down in front of me. The cheese was bland and the potato dry. All good is just warmed up. No wonder Costa wins. Their coffee is better, there’s more of it and the price is comparable. The high chairs were predictably dirty.

Fresh food,choice of food poor,this is a kerrching 🤑🤑🤑 restaurant,totally run for massive profits,had jacket potato my male friend was given literally a child sized portion of food,good job he's not got big appetite,the service I feel is pretty good and quality of food is fine,but the portion sizes are a greedy rip off..americans please beware...🙏

I visit this cafe at least once a week and it is variable. This was yesterday’s experience. Firstly the customer service at the till was not great. “Anything else?” No eye contact. I would suggest that this could be massively improved with a few manners and a smile. You have presumably interviewed the young man on the till and I would suggest his interpersonal skills could be better than this! Choice was limited for sandwiches and made all the more difficult by the 3 members of staff standing in the way at the fridge. No concept whatsoever that customers were trying to get to the fridge, It may be that there was a problem. If there is put up a sign. Our food was lovely. We ordered from the menu rather than disturb the discussion by the fridge. No issues with the food. Server could be a little more friendly but I can live with her slightly frosty approach. My observations and suggestions apply to a neighbouring table of 4 who ordered afternoon tea which was probably a treat for them. The food arrived minus drinks. One of the 4 got up and had to go and ask for drinks. A young man bought the drinks….. then went back for the cups…. Then the lady had to go and get milk and serviettes. It was a proper fiasco, and you should do better than this. Afternoon tea should be a treat, you had sufficient staff and you were not overly busy. I regularly stop by this cafe and will continue to do so and I am writing this in the hope that someone at M and S reads this and acts on it.

Slow service .when the bacon came out on a roll the bacon wasn’t cooked . Asked for a t cake . Was told I’ll get a refund but had to asked 3 times .all milk jugs had cracks in them . And people cooking in kitchen with long hair hanging down ,

45 mins waiting and food order didn’t arrive! Ordered a Breakfast Wrap and Latte (paid for at same time) at 15:02…. Cafe wasn’t very busy at this time. Chose the wrap because they had already run out of Jacket Potatoes, Avocado and a couple of other things. By 15:50 the wrap still hadn’t arrived…. despite my order placard being clearly visible the whole time! Other customers had ordered cooked food, eaten and left within the same time…. Had to query what was going on…. To be told…. “The order hadn’t gone through, but they could do one now, and we can get you a free coffee”. Didn’t fancy chancing another 50 minutes for food so requested refund of the food (which they did) and left. Not once was my placard number checked either…Having worked in hospitality and retail I am generally quite patient and maybe today was an off day for them but awful experience today and I won’t be returning again. Shame because I have used this cafe a couple of times before when at Merry Hill.

Bought my mom here for brunch, it was great, great breakfast wraps and coffee, tills were a little slow but they were really busy staff were really helpful and polite tables all clean

Cost £22, really not worth the money, pastry is hard and the contents are not good, just lumps of something.

clean cafe,quick service,choice of food menu,poor,lady on till polite pleasant,gave the impression she understood my order quickly and efficiently,only to return to my table and over heard her telling the cook something totally different only 3 minutes before she took my order,and 3 mins later got it all wrong and mixed up,then to make matters worst the food that I ordered was handed out at the table to the wrong person,which could of caused further complications,thankfully I have alot of patience,it's not the first time this has happened,it's many times,I'm thinking I cannot understand why or how they could get such a simple order all mixed up..on top of this the portion of the plate of food for the money it cost is a rip off..nowt short of a greedy rip off..on a positive fair note though the food was fresh..that's about it..unfortunaly there's not many good eating places in merry hill..so we always choose to eat at this place..come on folks get your act together..

Popped in here for a quick lunch whilst birthday shopping in Merryhill. Even with the Chancellor’s generous contribution of 50% off with the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme, we were unimpressed. Food is (and I’m being generous here) *just* about average (we had a cheese and ham toastie, fish finger sandwich and two smoothies), decor is drab and service is certainly not with any form of smile or enthusiasm. You pays your money, you makes your choice.

Popped in for quick lunch and had their newish tomato, pesto and mozzarella cheese toastie, great!! BUT the highlights came from the brilliant staff, wonderful service, eye contact, smiles, banter!! The best staff in any M&S cafe anywhere!! And the place was clean and tidy, tables cleared promptly and properly. Wonderful!!

I visited this Cafe on Friday 27/10 and have to say it was not good at all! Tables hadn’t been cleared for a while and the food and coffee was well below standard. The food was only warm and the coffee was very weak. It seems to me that the coffee shop has been expanded but the service cannot keep up! What a shame it used to be so good. Definitely room for improvement especially with Christmas looming.

Went to Aylesbury branch for a decaf coffee and it was absolutely tasteless! Worst coffee I’ve ever tasted - when I complained I was told ‘it’s because it’s decaf bags and we only use one no mater what size of cup!!In this day and age and for the price you charge invest in decent decaf coffee! Last time I’ll ever use your cafes

I went to the cafe late afternoon and ordered a Chicken, Bacon and Cheese toastie and an Americano - £6.90When the toastie arrived it was toasted on one side and not on the other so I asked if it could be toasted a little more. It came back with almost black stripes on one side but at least it was toasted on the other side. The filling was very poor - minuscule bits of chicken - a few bits of streaky bacon and a bit of sauce which had no cheese flavour at all.The coffee was ok but not as strong as an Americano should be. The assistant who brought the food over was friendly which is more than I could say for the young girl at the till when I ordered. I expect better quality from Marks and Spencer but it was disappointing and I wouldn't bother going back.

Ordered a small late. Person making coffee never spoke. Coffee was luke warm at best. Long black hair on saucer. Yuk. Won't be going again.

Good efficient staff make a big difference. The cafe layout was good and it was a relaxing break from the shopping

merry hill cafe, fan in open ceiling over table 34 was cold, windy and uncomfortable to endure, was told cannot be turned off as it was connected to air con in kitchen. very busy and not easy to find another table.

We stopped off in the restaurant after shopping in Marks and Spencer. The place is convenient after shopping and offers meals most people would find tasty.We chose our meals and sat down at a table for our meals to be brought to us.They were piping hot and very enjoyable. Good place for a reasonably quick meal.

Came here for coffee for the first time in ages and was pleased to see the seating area has been extended to accommodate more visitors. Finding a table was always a problem in the past, but no more it seems as we found seats straight away. Range of cakes and pastries, sandwiches etc was good and in good supply. Cafe was clean and child seats were available. Will be happy to visit more regularly now.

A friend who offered to treat me was left frustrated and shaking with rage! She chose the offer of a free tea cake with a pot of tea. She ordered 2 pots of tea but was told very firmly that she only qualified for one tea cake. The assistant reluctantly finally relented but only toasted one and it came without butter. The knife provided was dirty, had to be replaced and there weren't any teaspoons as usual. I felt so sorry that my friend had to endure such an unnecessary experience.

All Day Breakfast looked like it had been there....all day, just rubbish.

Had to wait ages in queue to order. Poor girl had to take order and make coffees by herself as no-one else available. Long queues to door. Had to wait ages for a toasted teacake. Had finished my warm cup of coffee by then. More staff needed and waiters need to try to work faster clearing tables.

Went here one Saturday expecting a lovely all day breakfast. "Sorry we haven't got any all day breakfasts", this was at 12:15. Also went recently and the cutlery was disgusting, still had food marks ("marks" and spencer, get it :D?) on. Even basic things like mugs were running low. The kitchen needs to be expanded and more staff need to be taken on. The staff is enough for quiet perioids but lunchtimes are awful, food is sometimes for a 40 min wait which is horrible! We would be better off by cooking it at home ourselves. Wouldn't come back here until things are drastically sorted out.

What a friendly cafe with wonderful caring staff. Tables are kept clean and tidy with plenty of seating especially now they have extended out into homeware

Is it really so very difficult to organise proper service at this café?. You are short staffed however you are taking top cash for the things you serve up. Dirty crock piled on tables. One of the women mangers cleared some of the dirty crocks from the tables however left some of them on the tables and proceeded to tidy the cake section up. You cannot forget that there's still dirty crocs littering up the tables so what cloud was she on?. Sometimes the coffee is okay and there again sometimes its crap. £2.95 per cup you don't get second chances it should be good every time. Come on management Christmas is over and no excuse now. Get your act together and sort it. I have taken to ASDA café and guess what they are spot on. Clean, no crocks on tables and half the price. If they can do it M&S; so can you. ps £4.50 egg on toast, beans on toast and two tea's. Served with a smile too.

the restaurant was busy as usual and the staff were working hard. We’d planned to have their all day breakfast but as at previous times it was on the menu but just not in the kitchen! I settled for the Christmas turkey pie, oh dear: tough over heated pastry (it was about 12pm) the cubed meat inside was dark brown and also tough, the sauce was interesting if you have a liking for a sweet, savoury pie...I don’t! Four hours later and I can still taste it, whoever they use for making these pies need to have a rethink and perhaps use some of the turkey breast so that we know what we’re eating!...it could have been rabbit for all I know!

Cafe within M&S; store. Good selection to choose from. Staff very helpful, nothing to much trouble for some. Lovely food although a little pricey. Served on very old and worn crockery. Would definitely visit again but hope they decide to invest in a popular cafe.

Dirigido para borrar un espacio y luego para mi sorpresa una señora de un par de mesas trajo la bandeja sucia de su mesa y lo puso justo en frente de mí diciendo que no había ningún otro sitio para ponerlo. Lo que el. . . . . ? Me gob.golpear y así estamos la gente que me rodea. Si tenía estaciones de al menos autolimpiable tendríamos un lugar para las bandejas sucias

We have used this cafe facility many times before and it is always busy but on this occasion(Easter Saturday) it was chaotic with lengthy waits for food cited, no baked potatoes left, limited availability on some hot food items, and staff clearly at their wits end. It as almost as if someone had forgotten it was going to be a busy weekend for the Centre. Vacant tables were left piled with dirty crockery. The cost of some of the sandwiches is ridiculous. Come on M&S; you can and have done better than this in the past!

The cafe is very clean and coffee scored 5/5 table can be too close together but staff very helpful. A range of food from cakes to sandwiches and plenty of drink choices

Eat lunch fairly regularly here whilst shopping. Toasted sandwiches are excellent. Downside, it's always very busy but usually worth the wait.

Only white people dining in the cafe.Is this M&S policy to drive out the children of Islam,leaving the kaffirs to enjoy their post colonial tiffin?I sense a plot to slow down the islamisation of the UK.Brexit has much to answer for.

Cafetería concurrida, bebidas calientes como siempre fueron muy buenos. Esposo la sopa de champiñones de castaño, que era muy sabroso, tuve la chaqueta con un bonito y ensalada de salchichas y la hija tenía cebolla calentito. Hemos comido aquí antes y la quiche es muy buena. El té de la tarde también es buena y no demasiado cara.

Visitamos este nuevo café hoy para el almuerzo. Estaba muy concurrido y perfecto para tomar un café o un almuerzo ligero de ensaladas, sándwiches, por ejemplo o chaqueta de patata pero el rango de comidas principales es muy pequeña.

Been in this restaurant many times. Always up to the level of standard that you would expect from M&S. The drinks take a little longer but they are always individually made. A good range of drinks and sandwiches, hot food too. Recommend the cheese and ham toasties. Tables are cleared regularly and staff are always pleasant and helpful. Highly recommend.

Thought would try afternoon tea here. Arrived around 1ish. . Very loud and busy.. tables were far too close to other's. . Moved chair and ended up bumping chair behind me! Food was nice.. not too much of a wait.

As a regular customer of the M & S cafe I am sorry to see the care of service towards customers deteriorating. Not the fault of the normal staff but of the management. Where hot food was once brought to you table with the cutlery you now have to fetch your own. Tap water was always available in jugs with glasses, now you are required to purchase bottled water. The minuscule paper napkins are useless and they no longer have reward cards for regular customers to obtain a free drink after purchasing 9 previous drinks. Small things but for the majority of customers who are elderly these things matter. The food is quite expensive but good.

A busy Christmas shopping night and this cafe is quietly tucked away in the men's and household departments store, It lacks ambience with the new style cafe all Formica and plastic, But having said that the choice tonight was the best I've seen in M andS, 3 choices of cake AND a turkey bacon and cranberry sandwich - good size sandwich for a g-f version packed with filling, tables needed a good clean but otherwise needs less harsh lighting. Toilets close by.

Enjoyed a quick food stop at this cafe. The choice of food on offer was perfect for the food fuel for shopping top up. Service did the job with a smile and the staff were attentive to keeping the facility clean and tidy for the quick turnover of people.

Today me and my freind poped into the cafe for a drink whilst out partners were shopping, the cafe was very busy and there was a que to get in but we were seen to very fast, the staff were rushed of there feet and obviously under staffed but they all found the time to make us feel welcome our drinks were nice and I had a jacket potatoes which came with a very good size portion of filling. I will definitely go back and relax whilst the misses shops

Today in your cafe I thought I would try the fish and chips. Very disappointed for £7.50.Dry soggy battered small portion of fish, variety Unknown. An eggcup full of mushy peas and 9 chips. Not even presented with a slice of lemon. Come on Marks you must be able to do better.

The café was clean and airy. The seating was comfortable. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The food was god and the coffee excellent. An ideal place to rest whilst out shopping.

Fab pot of tea with huge piece of carrot cake. Tea was great, they had skimmed milk and the cake was scrumptious. Staff couldn't have done more to accommodate my baby and pram. It does get really busy though, so when it does I go to asda which is admittedly half the price!

My last review was far from complimentary and nothing has changed since then, except the toilets are cleaner and the quality of food is still good. I still believe all the bad staff from M&S stores nearby are sent here as a punishment and to get their own back on the customers! What a rude, arrogant and lazy lot they are. We had to ask for plates to put our self serve purchases on, derisory comments in our earshot ensued and when we left there were 14 tables that hadn't been cleared and cleaned. Nowhere for the new customers to sit. Our table had the previous customers tray and leftovers on it all the time we were seated. Other customers were moaning about the shambles, I hope they will also put their comments on here. Please M&S,get this place sorted once and for all.

Average coffee, seemed quite weak compared to other coffee houses close by. Long queue, very slow service. Not for those with a time limit. The toilet is close by which is handy though

My daughter and I visited this cafe on a Saturday afternoon after we had been to an event at the NIA, on our way back to the train station. We only wanted 2 pots of tea and a snack. We stood at the counter and were ignored by the staff who carried on talking and when we did get served the girl virtually threw the pots of tea at us and was very rude. The counter was also very messy with a rejected cup of cold coffee just left there. The whole cafe looked messy and the staff disinterested Not what I would expect from Marks and Spencer.

We have visited this café at Marks & Spencer at least 8 times in the last 10 weeks and whilst the standard of the food is consistently quite good the service and staff attitude can vary from 'indifference' to just below 'acceptable'. There seems to be no continuity of staff on duty and you can easily believe that the staff working here were sent from other M&S departments as a punishment! Last Saturday (5th April 2014) we were there again and the previous comments apply. However, this time they reached a new low as the adjacent ladies toilet was absolutely disgusting with liquid all over the floor, no toilet rolls and filthy toilet bowls and hand sinks. We were shocked at this considering how 'up market' this establishment tries to be. Had we visited the toilets before eating the food we think we may have given ourselves bad stomachs from the germs.
