Store and Food Hall undergoing full makeover. Noticed price hikes on foods that l would normally buy. Not acceptable when comparable foods at the Tesco store next door are cheaper. Sorry M & S, but shoppers are not fools. Will be sticking to Tesco from now on.0

Very poor rating, stopped to have a quick snack and hot drink only to find it was very busy but ordered a hot drinks and toasted teacakes, tried to make the drinks last so we could have with our teacakes but half hour later drinks gone and still NO teacakes I may not be a chef but even I know it doesn't take over half an hour to toast a teacake, went and asked for a refund and was told there was a technical issue which would have been nice if someone could have told us that plus there was others complaining about cold food....not a good experience !!!!

I’m afraid the cafe is not of a standard expected from M&S, Long wait for food, when it arrived chips were cold and sausage and bacon baguette luke warm. Very small and overpriced. Quite a portion of things on the menu sold out. Tables not cleared and floor dirty. This is a very busy cafe and I imagine takes a reasonable profit, perhaps it should be spent on more staff as the few they had were run off their feet. Come on M&S you can do way better than this, do not let your standards slip!

We visit this cafe almost daily. The coffee is good and the staff are wonderful but they have recently changed the bread for the toast to sourdough. We appreciate some people like this but we don’t and are disappointed that we are not given a choice, especially as Marks and Spencer sell all types of bread in the food hall attached to the cafe, so the don’t have a sourcing issue.

I had a credit not for £69.50 which had expired 4 days ago. I spoke with M&S customer services and explained that I had been self isolating and as I couldn’t use the credit not on line I couldn’t get to the store to use it. I was told that it is up to the individual store but as it had only expired 4 days ago most would honour it. I’ve just been to the Brookfields branch and explained to one of the managers what customer services had said and she replied that the Government had not imposed a lockdown for the whole year so she couldn’t honour it. I explained that regardless of the government’s position, being a vulnerable person I had to remain in isolation. Her response was regardless of that, the note has expired and there was nothing she could do! Great customer services! Very flexible approach! Needless to say I won’t be going back to this store again and won’t be accepting any credit notes (especially as they can only be spent in store - move with the times M&S!). I would also recommend their managers receive training in customer relations!!!

I went to the cafe in M and S only because it was convenient, even though I was somewhat disappointed last time. Regrettably, there has been no improvement, in fact it was worse. It took the staff 9 minutes to clear the used crockery from the next table. The floor wasn't swept and the dropped bits and pieces were still there when we left. On top of that, the coffee isn't up to much either.

What a disgrace this cafeteria is, really lets the reputation of M&S down!! It is a very busy, profitable, cafe and yet so poorly staffed and managed. Tables and floors are dirty, with trays stacked on any available empty table. You first have to queue to get your tea or coffee and pay, and then search for a empty or clean table. I have sometimes waited up to 25 minutes for a simple sandwich, you cannot walk out as you have paid. Feel sorry for the few staff that work there as they just cannot keep on top of it all. M&S need to spend some of their profits on staffing.

Cutlery is dirty and the cafe floor looks like a war zone. The finished trays aren't collected in a timely manner. You have to ask staff repeatedly to clean the tables rather than being a task that's done automatically. The staff are rude and at times hostile. The cafe doesn't seem to be managed properly. I visit here daily as I enjoy the soup. I am always surprised to see the number of empty dirty tables uncleared and cluttered with used crockery. There is no rush to clear the tables here, even during the busy lunchtime. The chaos of this place is caused by a lack of management. Uncleared dirty tables, then in turn creates a hassle for the customer to queue for food and then queue again for a table. The tables are never wiped down properly with bacterial spray and food is simply wiped from the table onto the floor. This is disgusting. The staff have no pride in their work. We ordered a hot toasted sandwich and two knives were given to me. The bread rolls arrived with no butter. If you need any assistance here, the staff are well trained in avoiding all eye contact. It is the most bizarre unfriendly place. If the management were stricter, this anti customer attitude would not be allowed. Dirty cafe created by lazy staff. The staff are allowed to be openly rude to the paying customer.

If after the hustle and bustle of shopping in the Brookfield farm and you need to recharge your batteries, then yes, by all means, stop over for a relaxing cup of coffee and a piece of cake. I would not recommend anyone with children to go though, they do have children's portions but it can be a bit noisy and busy at times. Reading over the reviews, I'm not quite sure what people expect. It's a cafe. It gets extremely busy because let's face it we're not exactly spoilt for choice with cafes in the local area. I agree it gets busy, you can't find anywhere to sit, it gets cramped with buggies but then..... Aren't most cafes like this? Get real!

Lovely design of cafe, spacious, good for families, nice food and drinks. Some things a bit overpriced as expected sometimes with m&s.

It's a lovely place to eat in but only if you've got a massive wallet! Silly prices and not the best food for the price!

Visited on Saturday afternoon after shopping, ladened with a toddler a baby a buggy and shopping bags. Glad to see till points had wide aisles. However after ordering a Frappuccino I was told this was made in the kitchen and I would have to wait, handed a 'buzzer board' with a number and told to 'take a seat'. I told her I was taking the drink away and dint need to sit down she said I’m not sitting they won’t be able to find me, I said what if I stand next to kitchen. She said ok, so I did. There were no tables anyway and with kids and bags it wasn’t feasible to try and find a table and navigate through the chaos just to collect a drink to take away. So I stood and waited DIRECTLY outside the kitchen, and waited, and waited. After watching several customers go up to the manager and waiter man standing there waiting for orders COMPLAINING where their orders where I approached him and asked where my drink was. It was right in front of him. I had been standing next to him with my 'buzzer board' the whole time. He advised me as I wasn’t sitting down he couldn’t give me the drink!!! This was the restaurant manager, I complained, there were NO seats and I wasn’t in a position to sit down with the kids in the squashed dining area and he said oh well!! So he handed me the dripping, melted, Frappuccino which wasn’t made with skimmed milk as requested and we left, disappointed. The staff are rude, the dining area in chaotic and squashed and useless if you have children, buggy’s or wheelchairs. It is drafty on an even slightly cold day, the coffee choices are limited, the food is displayed terribly and the kitchen is chaos with all the staff are running around in a stressed out chaotic taking order after order they cannot fulfil. It needs a complete overhaul. So much for the renovation, the service has got worse, they have crammed more tables in and the only good point is the wide aisles at the tills! Thanks god costa is opening over the road soon and there is Starbucks and other coffee places next to Tesco next door! AVOID! I won’t be going back. The coffee isn’t even that nice!

Firstly, can someone correct the cafe name at top. Having the opportunity to create a new modern restaurant/cafe has failed dismally. Waiting times for coffee was long and don't sit in the front half of restaurant unless you have a coat. The constantly open doors create a cold draft which is uncomfortable. The designers clearly didn't think this through.

I have been to the cafe three times since the has been updated. The cafe worked better before the make overVery disappointed7pm visit - loads of tables with dirty plates etc hardly any clean tables10am - very busy I was informed by a staff member that you do not take the sandwiches to the till.I pointed out that thee were no signs no reply. 6.30 pm - very busy cakes etc were a mess as you now help yourself. In summary the cafe seems to be very short of staff as it is not what you would expect from Marks and Spencer. The cafe is also very expensive and is not value for money.I shop in Marks a lot and cannot wait until Costa Coffee opens

M&S have been giving out free hot drink when purchasing another item vouchers to encourage customers to use the new look cafe. Used it today only to discover in the tiniest print that the voucher is only redeemable before 10.30am and after 3pm. I can live without a free cup of tea but the duplicity is appalling for a company like M&S. Treat your customers with resect rather than trying to con them.

I have been several times to M&S Brookfield Café and I wish I could find a positive. I find it is under staffed and whilst some of the staff are helpful and pleasant others could do with some training in pleasantness and customer service. Tables are slow to be cleared. The last time I went a week or so ago there is refurbishment and building work going on and to be honest it would have been better if M&S had closed the café for the duration of the work because it just makes a poor experience worse. There is a coffee shop due to open on the other side of Brookfield and there is a much better coffee shop in Tescos next door. It would be nice to have a GOOD café in M&S but please can the management provide a nice venue for a coffee offering good value for money and good customer service instead of a pooly run fast food venue.

This place is way too expensive, in every sense of the word the food the drinks (hot or cold) the desserts, the small pack of triangle sandwiches at £4.95 are a right rip off, the pasta salads at £6.95 are a joke. The unhelpful lady on the check out had no pleasantries about her, she obviously didn't like her job and she showed it, she was abrupt, made no conversation with me and was borderline rude.My colleague had the right idea he went to the food court in M&S and bought a triple pack of sandwiches a packet of crisps and a diet coke on a meal deal for less than I paid for my small triangle sandwiches in the cafe area, he then sat with me in the cafe!So don't pay the cafe prices, go to the food court get the deal lunch and take it into the cafe area to eat, come on M&S get your act in gear, remember customer satisfaction you used to be good at it, not any more it seems.

This is just a typical shop cafe. It's not their core business, just another way to try and keep their customers from going somewhere else. The food is typical mass produce ready to heat up fare. The staff are generally just there because someone has to be. The service genearlly slow and with very little enthusiasm and the place when busy is a tip.

We have just had lunch at m@s cheshunt and what a mistake that was. As usual the service was on the slow side but that's okay it was when we ordered that it went wrong. We ordered two tomatoes soups that were warm my wife went for the mulligatawny was so thick no way could it be considered as soup.we have a grandson three years old who is totally dairy intolerant the sandwiches are all ready buttered so could you do us one without butter no was the answer.ok I see you have fish and chips on the menu can we have a plate of chips for the young one again the answer was no.with an attitude like that why would people want to use your cafe.

I had lunch yesterday and I really wished that had 't. The cafe is very big and noisy. It's like sitting in a warehouse. The sandwiches are good, the coffee is ok. There never seems to be enough staff and at times it is difficult to have a conversation. Mark's and Spencer really need to smarten this place up interns of staffing and décor.

This is a place that could do a lot better! The cakes are a free for all 'grab-fest' so if you're not fancying having your cake manhandled by all and sundry before eating go elsewhere! Good sandwiches with loads of filling options. The coffee os ok, not one of a dark roast, more middle of the road and mild (possibly mellow)? The staff are friendly enough and the place is clean.

Found service very poor, had to queue for food not enough staff one person was doing three stations. Prices very dear just for a snack and a drink, very noisy think it would be better if it was totally walled off separate from store.

good range of hot and cold food and drinks, can be a bit noisy and does get very busy especially on a saturday afternoon. Open till the store closes, unlike Tesco next door!

We used to go to the Marks and Spencer Cafe every Saturday after shopping in Tesco next door. Over the last few months the service has become bad. People are queuing right to the end of the cafe and into the shop area. There is no organisation here as it hit and miss whether you get what you wanted. We only drink loose tea. If you want loose tea then yet again you have to wait whilst someone looks for it on the shopfloor. We enjoy the victoria sponge cake but overall the cafe is badly run, tables dirty and it is stressful to watch people queuing up and then dumping their trays and walking out. Food choices are limited, service slow and the staff have a bad attitude. Never used to be like this and has gone downhill rapidly. I have complained to the Store Manager, you can always find him on the till near the self scanning tills in a smart suit without his name badge on. He doesn't care about availability of stock and range on offer, so now I don't either. We won't be going back as it is bad value for money.

Waiting in a queue for over 25 minutes just to be served with only two staff behind the counter. More staff needed to help keep up with a very busy Costa! It’s only a Thursday afternoon so shouldn’t be such a wait.

First time visiting here with my partner. She had a sandwich that was ok my meal was the English breakfast about £11.50 which is at the top end for a breakfast The tomato was perfect, the beans were ok and served in a nice bowl, the hash browns tasted pre-cooked and odd not fresh and crisp. The sausages were poor quality I thought it was me so I gave one to my partner she could not eat it I left the half of one. I had the sour dough, it was overcooked and so hard I had to leave a slice. The bacon was ok but nothing special. There is no failure only feedback so I would say for the type of quality breakfast that they could offer I would say buy sausages made with a good quality meat to fat ratio no rusk. Rusk overkill in sausages denotes cheap low quality produce. By the time I got 1/2 way through the meal I didn't want to keep going it took all the pleasure out of the meal. The staff are friendly and the service was great but I didn't want to cause a fuss and complain at the time. I hope they do make these few small changes as it's a good clean place and I'd like to give it another try. The coffee was awesome.
