Today I visited for the first time since before the March lockdown. The cafe was full to capacity with queuing out into the store. Surprisingly and disappointingly the table layout was the same as before Covid. No distancing. Staff were extremely busy and were doing their best. What was most surprising was the amount of mixed households. I know its difficult to police but it was obvious that many tables were mixed households. Two ladies ordered separately and paid separately but sat together on the same allocated table. Expected better from M & S.

Visited today & was disappointed to find there were no fruit scones out to buy in the cafe. We enquired whether any more were available & were told they had just come out of the oven & were too hot to be sold. The assistant then offered to go downstairs to get us some from the bakery department of the shop, which she proceeded to do. This was much appreciated & made our visit. Will visit again soon!

Good selection of sandwiches and cakes. Self service is quick and easy with plenty of places to sit. Price range is reasonable and the coffee good.

My elderly friend and I had a coffee together. I had a decaff black Americano and the barista put a double measure pod in for me because she asked me if I liked my coffee strong, I do. It’s unusual to be asked most people assume I want it weak because it’s decaff, no I just don’t want the caffeine!! My friend enjoyed her Americano with milk! Very impressed!!

We had been to the retail park at Birstall and decided to call at M&S cafe for lunch before heading home. What a waste of time. Ok, it was busy, but the place was full of staff, mostly procrastinating while the poor young girl behind the till was left to take orders and make hot drinks for a huge queue of people. At 12 o'clock two things we wanted weren't available on the hot food menu (which is fairly small) so we ended up having to get a sandwich to go with the hot drinks we'd already ordered, we could've just got one of those from the M&S shop downstairs and eaten it at home. We had already queued for 20 minutes though and our baby son was fraught by that time. The girl serving behind the counter was the same, thoroughly miserable. There were no teaspoons, I wasn't given any milk for my tea, the serving area behind the till was a complete state. Our table was eventually cleared so we could use it but it wasn't wiped. Sort it out M&S, too many chiefs and not enough Indians!

Now I'm reviewing this as a shop cafe, and as a place to go when you are out and about shopping and want a quick lunch or cake stop. I'm not reviewing this as a cafe to rival bistro, independent cafes. I came here whilst shopping at Birstall with my 4 year old. We had a successful trip to Ikea and wanted a small lunch for me and dinner for him. I had a cheese and mushroom toastie, and he had a microwave kids meal (£2.50) and piece of choc cake. Water was self serve and food came quickly. Comfortable booth type seats which was great as it made it easy for me to have my 4 month old in the push chair beside me. Sparks card gave me a coffee free. The cakes looked great but we're pricey. Nice treat though. A nice place to take a break and have a food shop afterwards.

I went to the Terrace Cafe for Afternoon tea with my Aunt and it was absolutely delicious. Ultra fresh and a very good selection of both sandwiches and cakes and the fruit scones tasted like they had just come out of the oven. It was a warm day so was nice to sit on a terrace overlooking Trinity Centre as well and we will definitely be going again as the price made the whole experience excellent value too.

Came to the M&S Café in Trinity for lunch with a friend. We had the Afternoon Tea for two priced at £12.95. This represented good value for money and was tasty. Plenty for two ladies, but had I been with my husband there wouldn't have been enough. I have had bigger Afternoon Teas (where you could ask for extra if needed!). Having said that, the quality was nice and the scones were fresh. Once thing that I did find annoying was that the sandwich options were either "vegetarian" or "normal" we weren't able to select which sandwich fillings we had, nor the type of bread. We wanted a selection without egg and luckily this was down to choice and not allergies, as both selections contained egg and, as we were told they were pre-packed weren't able to be swapped for an alternative! All in all worth the money for a nice tasting lunch I'll go again if I'm out and about shopping and want a value for money lunch in a city centre!

We recently visited M & S cafe , seven weekly snacks at 9.30 A.M. Morning coffee and Bakewell Tart to die for. It was so nice I cut it into small pieces to make it last. It wasn't cheap at £2.50 a slice, but worth every penny. I couldn't fault anything. Just the job for an early morning treat.

This is a review of M and S Briggate, Leeds You really would have thought that M and S should represent consistant quality, I often have breakfast and a coffee there and it seems to vary according to who is working. Last Sunday was a bad day. I ordered their Scrambled Egg plus bacon and cooked tomatoes on bloomer, had it before and it was good. I asked for it to be well done. Things started off badly. I saw my food on the service hatch, waiting to be brought to the table, I waited and waited. Other food came from the kitchen and went straight past. After 10 minutes it was brought over, stone cold. I sent it back. After 5 minutes, served again, near raw bacon, uncooked tomatoes, not even warm. I assumed by now that the chef was wound up and taking it out on me. I took the food back and brought this to the supervisors attention.

This is nothing special. A mince pie will cost you £1.75 but then you are expected to sit on hard uncomfortable plastic seats. To be fair, the staff were excellent, and the food and drinks were good, but I'll try somewhere else for coffee next time I'm in Leeds.

Feeling peckish my friend decided he wanted fish & chips, we were on the Headrow so l thought of Nash's even though l've never eaten there. The reason for that is the business & alley approach looks so unwelcoming. And it did again...7 large green general waste dustbins right outside, rubbish everywhere. Now l know this is not the fault of Nash's but it's plain off-putting, they could screen it off for a small outlay. Secondly l said to my pal "lt's shut", everything about it led me to thinking that, even with an "open" flyer on the door, l was amazed the door opened when l pushed it. Oh oh, totally empty, no food in the fryers, really strange. The woman behind the counter was great, she explained that it was cooked fresh & wouldn't take long. 2 fish & chips were ordered and tbh l was not expecting much. I was wrong, the fish was really good and the chips fine & plentiful, mushy peas ok if a bit watery. The only negative was the tomato sauce, it was terrible, orange & cheap. Whilst we were eating 2 other customers arrived, so 4 in probably 40 minutes there. There is something wrong here, the food was good, the woman friendly & efficient but it is devoid of any atmosphere or decent furnishings, to me it looks like totally wasted potential. I'd probably give it another try, maybe l caught it on an unusually quiet day, but still, please make an effort on the approach & frontage to make it more welcoming, l'm sure it'd make huge difference.

£8.70 for a small portion of haddock and chips with a drink. The batter was completely soggy. Definitely not a proper fish and chip shop. Such a shame, as the staff seemed very nice. Hygiene around the premises seemed an issue.

Called in for a quick beer with my partner, I noticed there was a staff member from the Wakefield spoons, now one of the team managers at Morley, I spoke to her and she basically just ignored me, don't think this is professional from a management member. All other staff were friendly and polite, won't go back to that venue again.

so, normally we go to the Bridgewater arms for food (another flaming grill), however our nearest pub is actually this one so we thought we'd come here for food on Saturday evening. I looked at the menus and opening times and saw that the app stated the kitchen closed at 9 pm, so I booked a table for 8.30 on the understanding that I’d be able to get food thinking nothing of it and that we could have a night out with some food, and then to stay and drink until closing. We arrived in a cab around 20 past eight, giving us ten minutes advance for the table anyway and were sat at table two, where they normally have it reserved for the festive menus but were told we could eat there anyway. We then went ahead and were just about to push our orders through the app when someone ran over and told us not to put any food through as the kitchen was closed and had been since 8. This was extremely frustrating as if I’d have known this before, we would have probably gone to another green king pub where we could both eat and drink throughout the night. once finding this out, I then quickly rang ahead to first the GK in LS15 which said we'd make it to late for food then to Bridgewater, who also told us we wouldn't make it as they also shut at nine so not only could we not eat here, but we also missed out on a flaming grill, resulting in us last minute having to book to the harvester in Scholes LS15, resulting in yet another cab fair, which was significantly higher, but unfortunately the only option left to us at this point and also meaning green king missed out on our custom, because the information on food wasn't known before we'd arrived. I went to speak to a manager at the bar before we left, he told us there was nothing he could do even after I explained the situation so not only were we not able to order food from the kitchen that was advertised as open, but then had a manager tell me there was nothing that he could do and walking off. Overall, I was really disappointed with my experience
