The Bowling Green in Leeds

Has to be the worst Wetherspoons I’ve been in.! Had to clear our own table as all the unused tables were covered in used plates and cutlery. Drink tasted like it had chemicals in…possibly dishwasher detergent.? Ordered same food order as at other Wetherspoons, food was barely warm, soggy halloumi fries and pizza. Mayonnaise bottles were empty but still there to use….surly the staff know when stock is low.?! Hot chilli sauce tasted like it was off. Staff eventually started clearing tables, using an old mucky grey washing up bowl, walking around placing it on the table next to us whilst we’re eating. Very off putting and not professionally for a well known food establishment. Staff are miserable and do not appear happy in their chosen work role, felt like someone was making them work there under duress rather than it being a choice they’d made. No atmosphere what so ever…no music etc. will not be returning to this Spoons

Staff were lovely, but Ladies toilets were disgusting and half didn't work, not impressed with the food.i got chicken and bacon panini and hardly any filling, all bread.

Decent Wetherspoons with nice staff

The Bowling Green pub seems to have lost it's way for some time now. Service is very poor with tables piled with dirty crockery at various times of the day and evening. Breakfast orders are either missing items of food, have poor presentation of the meal, also even undercooked sausage on the morning breakfast.. It is a popular Wetherspoons pub in the tourist area of Otley but customers do not want to have to clear tables themselves before being able to sit somewhere when they enter..

Durante 3 semanas después de ir de compras en Otley hemos llamado al Bowling Green en Otley. En cada visita hemos tenido que despejar una mesa para poder sentarnos en una mesa limpia. Si pienso de nuevo en la situación Covid se despejaron las mesas , se limpiaron (incluso las sillas) de forma regular. Hoy nos sentamos en una mesa a uno que nos sentamos hace quince días. ¿Cómo sé esto? Es porque estábamos hablando con una pareja que dijo que siempre es así, y recuerdo pasar mis dedos sobre la parte inferior de una silla para solo ver mi huella digital allí 2 semanas después. ¿Tim Martin lo encuentra aceptable?

An impressive building and outdoor space. Conveniently located by the bus station, (didn't see a train station). I had a guest ale (Swords) for 1.99. Definitely worth a visit.

Me encantó una tierna moza paseante de perros de naturaleza suave cuando me acerqué a la entrada del bowling green. Después de haber completado los saludos perfumistas tanto a la doncella como a su daschund, atravesé la puerta del bar. La bar wench nos informó que ales no se serviría hasta las 9 am, que aunque desconcertante no era del todo desagradable. Mientras mi hermano estaba atormentado por una salubre higiénica, disfruté de mi desayuno tradicional y disfruté de 2 ales poco después. Escribo esto sabiendo muy bien que muchos turistas orientales pueden elegir frecuentar este pub con la esperanza de una reunión de inodoros tsudere. Entrego a otros a un tesoro que no puedo poseer.

At first when you step through the doors,you're greeted by the dingy interior of a typical wherspoons. Walk further and you'll soon find yourself basking in the light of the sun roof. Here is where we decided to set camp. At the bar I was horrified to find that they didn't serve alcohol till 9:00AM. As I sat at my table yearning for the sweet nectar of life that is alcohol, the eggs Benedict that I ordered magically appeared on my table. It was thoroughly enjoyed and after a quick nicotine hit I made my way to find the gentlemen's. At the urinal, I was lost in my own world admiring the perfect porcelain that clad the walls. I was surprised to see a confused woman who had followed me into the bathroom. I was intrigued and curious and asked her is she was alright and she replied "I'm alright." Of course, she was clearly not alright cause she was in the wrong damn toilet. Returning to table 24, I enjoyed a decent 6 percent ale of middling quality while discussing the salubrious toilet wench with my sleep deprived sibling who had already scoffed his traditional breakfast and was now casually imbibing his ale.

Busy with standard lunchtime spoons crowd we started off in the large outside seating area but then went inside. We ordered online checking on any delays (none to worry us) but we had a change from our usual spoons fayre of breakfast or pizza: we ordered shawarma chicken topped fries ~ caution imo that sauce is 🌶️ 🌶️, chicken strips (yummy JD dip)& curry sauce chips; food & drinks served by friendly but busy staff. Lovely setting we’d not been for years = nice lunch & we’ll come again.

Muy ocupado con las cucharas habituales se agolpan cuando llegamos alrededor de las 12 ish. Un montón de mesas fuera pero aunque soleado era un poco demasiado brioso (pero en una tarde de verano me imagino un lugar popular) y después de una 3a mesa tambaleante decidimos entrar y después de un poco de búsqueda encontramos una mesa. Comprobé el tiempo de espera (útil), que era aceptable, pedí en línea y nuestra comida llegó poco después. Shawarma cubierto de pollo (cuidado con la salsa picante 😵‍💫) JD tiras de pollo con papas fritas y salsa de curry todo encantador. La mayoría del personal joven ~ todo lo que conocimos era amable y sonriente. Otra bonita visita de cucharas : )

Lovely old original pub, the usual spoons food. The problem with this one is the service, the last time I came I waited 15 mins for my drink ordered on the app. I asked a member of staff who said she'd check but never bothered so I had to go collect it myself. The same again today, nearly 15 mins wait just for a pint.

Cheap beer and a sunny garden. Was super busy but when you can pay a 5er and get 2 pints you can't go wrong.

Atención al cliente inexistente! El desayuno es tibio en el mejor de los casos! Eso es si pueden lograr encender el gas para cuando se abra, a menos que lo consigas ahora! No puedo recomendar, el personal ignorante y el desayuno demasiado frío! Prueba los cafés locales mucho mejor.

One of the better Wetherspoons in the Leeds area. Lovely location and a cosy, 'oldy worldly' decor and atmosphere with real fires. Food is nice and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended. Visited again today 12.9.24 and this place just keeps getting better and better especially with the landlords meal deal

Always like a good Wetherspoons, foid always top notch and good and hot. Like how can have a refill of tea or coffee too great idea. Friendly staff and helpful.

My recent order included a burger and chips; however, the chips were stale cold, and this is not the first instance of this issue.

Had really good buffalo burger chicken wings and pizza food was really good. Brewdog punk ipa wasn't that good at all.

Typical style Wetherspoons. My first time in here. Bit chilly inside and not much atmosphere. One coffee machine was out of order which my dad says has been like that for months and the other didn't have the usual big selection. Food was really good and very quick service (breakfast). Would definitely go back.

Visted The Bowling Green para un poco de almuerzo y una taza de té. Cuando fui a la máquina de autoservicio para hacer el té no había agitadores de madera así que fui al bar a pedir unos donde me dijeron que no tenían más que ir a buscar uno de metal de las bandejas de cubiertos. Fui y no había cucharas, así que le pregunté a una camarera si quería comprarlas. Desapareció para volver a decirme que no, pero que podía echarme una pajita. Mi respuesta fue que quería hacer una taza de té y la respuesta fue que no había nada que ella pudiera hacer. Terminé usando un cuchillo. Decir que estaba decepcionado con la actitud del personal es más allá de las palabras, así que honestamente puedo decir que no volveré a visitar y definitivamente NO recomendaría a nadie

Very typical Wetherspoon experience. Pub a little nicer than most, as is Otley in general. Food was a little below average. But the beer selection and quality was pretty good.

The service here is diabolical. One guy behind the bar having to serve customers in front of him and drinks orders coming through on the app at the same time, all at peak time of day. The lay out of the bar encourages people to queue up, which in a pub is very weird. Look I don't expect the hand pulled ales to be anything special in a spoons but the head completey disappearing in the 20 seconds between leaving the bar to find my seat is a new experience I would rather forget. All simple fixes and the joint would be half decent for a spoons

El personal del Bowling Green es muy amable y servicial, y especialmente Laura, la gerente. Ella mantiene el lugar funcionando muy bien, que es probablemente la razón por la que es tan popular. Honestamente puedo decir que nunca he tenido un mal trago o comida allí, y el personal es rápido, eficiente y muy educado, y hacen todo lo posible para complacerte. Definitivamente vale la pena una visita. Precioso interior también. Las mejores notas. Richard.

Nice pub, warm and comfy with new Christmas meal offers and Christmas drinks too. We had the chocolate orange espresso martini which was absolutely lush. 2 for £9.00 too which was great. Even the coffee is great so I would highly recommend.

Refused to deliver my order of a banana, a slice of cheese, black pudding and a glass of milk because it was not "proper food". This is a national delicacy in my home country and I've been discriminated against. Bloody jobsworth. Fit barmaid tho.

First time at this venue, all the best tables had been reserved so struggled to find a table, but proves how popular it was! Served by a lovely gentleman, and in a cosy atmosphere, well worth a visit.

Beer is good value food ok but standard pub food service comes over as what it is, a large chain where staff are doing their jobs, it just lacks the personality of the smaller pubs that Otley has, makes you feel like a number not a person.

Ordered food via app, stated that food would be 13 mins which is fairly normal. 20 mins later it arrived COLD after 3 mins still waiting for 2 extra slices of toast we ordered we chased this up to have to ask again, 10 mins later toast arrived COLD, asked to speak to manager that didn't seem concerned he had a complaint, he said there running 25 mins behind although on app it was taking about 13 mins, told him food was cold another excuse was there short staffed, couldn't really explain why we had to wait another 10 mins for our toast other than that there short staffed, only thing he offered was a FREE drink which you actually get free anyway with the refills. If there was a zero star I would definitely put that. Will not be returning here again, absolute shambles.

Comfortable pub, extensive food menu, coffee & tea available at all times. Had a very tasty meal from the breakfast menu, nicely cooked & presented, waited less than 10 minutes for it to be delivered to the table.

Had large Fish and because I'm on a diabetic diet I asked for salad instead of chips which they did without too much fuss. Nicely cooked fish which always seems to be done with more skill than my local Wetherspoons in Bradford.

Attended here with my mum and my 3 year old son. It's an odd layout with multiple little rooms and offshoots. We had the traditional breakfast which was delicious and very affordable and my son had the pancakes which he was very pleased with. Service was very good and quick especially using the app. My only criticism is that overall it's not very well lit and the ladies toilets are up and exceptionally steep staircase which is impossible to scale for anyone with mobility issues!

Great pub ,good food and fast service,tables ,toilets clean etc only 1 gripe tables left too long with plates and glasses etc after customer has left but didnt put us off we just asked a staff member to clean table if anything was left which they did so happy days

Go there quite regularly for breakfast on Saturday morning when attending Otley auctions

La gente viene aquí por los precios y esto era una ganga, una pinta de IPA y una copa de vino por menos de £ 6. Le he dado un 3 ya que la cervecería no estaba especialmente limpia, habría tardado 10 minutos en barrerla y vaciar los ceniceros completos. Aparte de eso estaba bien.

This has to be one of the best spoons in the UK. The food seams that little bit better, the beer is cheaper than others local. And Andrew the team leader, is fantastic.

Only went for a coffee very dark inside so sat at tables outside. And didn't stop long as a lot of people were smoking.

Tables not been cleaned leading to homeless people coming in and eating leftovers. Sick all over the gents toilets along with food all over the carpets which haven’t been cleaned.

Well located .. on the main road through Otley, just up from where the buses stop, and opposite Sainsbury's supermarket. Plenty of outdoor space, both at the front and at the side (which is a lot smaller)

A quietish Monday afternoon for a bit of dinner. My all day breakfast was spot on, can't review my family members food because I'm not a fan of what they eat. Service was ok, nothing OTT.

Called in for a quick drink while out chilling. Good service.

Big shout out to Beckie, called in to help out due to Microsoft outage, so cash or App only. Told the Manager Beckie was the best waitress they have ever had in this pub. Customer service excellent. Oh, and, Beckie is a cleaner, well she should be made waitress of the year. Thank you.

Food was absolutely vile! Jacket potato with FOUR beans! And they forgot the cheese. And potatoe looked like it was cooked a week ago and reheated daily since. Friends Pasta didn’t move when turned bowl upside down. Highlight the waiter laughing as he put it infront of us.. £16 only- £16 completely wasted!

A regular spot for us on a Saturday afternoon in downtown Otley. Fabulous service from Andrew tonight! Super, super polite!

We reserved a space here this afternoon for a family meal. 21 adults and some children. When we arrived, the man who greeted us was very helpful and welcoming. I didn't get his name but he wore a shirt with yellow ducks on. He was a pleasure to deal with. We all ordered our meals separately using the bar or the app and the food did arrive promptly apart from 2 meals. We waited a while and then politely mentioned at the bar that we were 2 meals short. The manager came over and was unhelpful and dismissive. He was adamant that the correct number of dishes had been served and suggested that someone had eaten two meals. He was unwilling to replace or refund the two meals that simply didn't arrive. !! The used dishes were still on the table and so it was an easy task for us to count them and see that we were indeed two dishes short. Rather than make a fuss and create an unpleasant atmosphere, we decided to cut our losses and reorder and pay again. In a large place orders will get muddled or missed and we would have accepted this as just one of those things but, for the manager to be accusing and unhelpful was unreasonable. The food we had was good, the serving staff were polite and helpful and for this I will give some stars but the way the manager behaved absolutely ruined the atmosphere for us and for this reason, I won't be visiting the bowling green again

One of the best spoons I've been to. Impressive building in beautiful little stone built town. Good selection of ales, all in good fettle. Food arrived sharpish, and on warm plates!

An excellent example of a well run Wetherspoons. Efficient and welcoming staff. A superb selection of cask ales which frequently rotated suggesting there is a strong following using this establishment. I enjoyed my first Spoons Sticky Toffee Pudding with Ice-cream, which was excellent 👌

Had lunch there. Found the menu a bit over complicated and almost too much on offer. Nothing wrong with the food we ordered but I think they offer too much choice. Staff courteous and friendly, good value for money.

Cool pub. Great location, the outdoor seats are great and is next to surprisingly quiet area. The food quality is on point. Variety selection of drinks; non alcoholic beverages too. Vegan and vegetarian friendly.
