Marks and Spencer Cafe in Bolton

Bacon sandwich is just cheap streaky bacon , rubbish had to bin most of it as it was sooo fatty Jacket spud and beans was like elephant skin and hardly any beans . They had no eggs , not really a cafe as it claims . Ok if you want cake. Don’t bother find somewhere else . The coffee was more like warm frothy milk with a couple of coffee beans present Defo not value for money

Visited the cafe with my mother and 3 year old daughter. My daughter wanted a scone as a treat but there was no plates available, so I asked a member of staff if we could have more plates and she acted as though it was an inconvenience to herself and miserably brought the plates out. The lady who served behind the till was the only pleasant member there. In general the staff that work here showed a lack of respect for customers. For example an elderly lady had asked a young girl who was clearing tables where she could find the toilets, again the attitude of the staff member was as though it was a trouble to show or explain where they were. The elderly lady still was confused and said that it look like a fire escape and she didn’t want the alarm to go off and all the staff member could do was pull her face at the lady and treated the elderly lady as though she was dumb. The girl who worked here then proceeded to go off and talk about the lady to other members of staff quite openly making a joke of the elderly lady for myself and other customers to hear. This shows to me that most of the staff here do not have the right attitude to work In hospitality. In general the experience left us disgusted with how we were and how others were treated if it did not suit a member of staff to be helpful!!

I went in the Bolton cafe today at about 12 .15 for my cheese and ham toasty (have had one or two in the last couple of weeks ) something I have missed while you were closed only to find they have been changed to sourdough bread I hate sourdough bread with a passion. When I asked the staff why it had been changed there reply was we have no idea as they were not constellated so had no say what so ever in the change.. It might seem to some people that I'm making a fuss over nothing but when you like something and go in the M and S cafe just to sit down with latte and a cheese and ham toasty and for no reason that I can see its been changed then there is no other reason to go in your cafe any more, there are other cafes in Bolton I can and will use from now on .. thankyou for nothing

Had the misfortune to choose M&S cafe today for lunch. At 12.15 my choice of sandwich was not available. When the second choice sandwich came it was a small portion, no salad either. My husband had the jacket potato with beans. The potato must have been baking for a long time as the skin was burnt and tough. I feel this standard of food and choice will lose customers. Will not return.

Popped in quickly for lunch, usual nice M&S sandwich, toastie, crisps, drinks & a cream tea. Scone was nice, not dry as other reviews suggest.

Came here after shopping not been for awhile there was a member of staff in charge of the tables we had to wait a couple of minutes until we had a table no problem.We had 2 fruit scones and 2 coffees service was ok staff not as friendly no acknowledgement at all,the only staff who was attentive was the man in charge of the tables.

An employee was put in charge of directing traffic into the restaurant and ensuring we did not"block" egress for people leaving. The power apparently went to her head. Other customers also let me know they were challenged about stepping over the invisible line! Then, when I was leaving, I saw a bunch of customer shopping trolleys blocking the way out! This is typical of English shops.... terrible customer service, employees told to"control", not "please" customers, and then have a totally dysfunctional system that can't possibly work!

All day breakfast...the clue is in the title... Sorry, we don’t have poached eggs, only scrambled...started to say but they are made out of the same thing but hesitated...fine I said. Once sat down, sorry, no sausages but can do extra bacon...sigh...ok...that was 12.50 by the way not at the end of a day...an all day breakfast? Still a clue there folks... When it came the scrambled eggs was cold rubbery and tasteless and the bacon was curled up and hard. The toast was cold and hard and the butter was on the plate and was liquid in the packet. Altogether an awful experience! Avoid, I will!

normally have a coffee or tea here and yes we've risked a toasted teacake, but today we wanted some lunch and had jacket potato with tuna mayo, a big mistake the potato was barely warm and the tuna mayo with sweetcorn very cold, hence each mouthful it got colder and colder , i think food like this is a step too far for M&S, unless they increase their kitchen capacity as there are some obvious problems, warming stuff doesn't appear to be a problem but cooked food certainly is , lesson learned back to tea/coffee/cake or teacake

Really a higher standard than a lot of the other m and s cafes we have been to. Friendly staff who are helpful. Gluten free options available . Nice a cool inside to escape the sun. Happy to go back.

I visited late morning one Saturday and was so disappointed - M&S cafes are usually ok. Ordered a Full English - two small rasher of brittle bacon, two fried eggs with solid yolks, two tomatoes complete with burnt skins, two slices of brittle toast which was too cold to melt butter, mushrooms, a small sausage (best bit!) and, oh yes, loads of baked beans to make it look like a full plate. It wasn't cheap (can't remember exact price) and you'd get better fayre at a roadside caff!

I have visited here for Afternoon Tea & found it to be lovely, however I came back with my daughter one Saturday afternoon approximately 4 pm for 2 meals. I had goats cheese quiche which was nice, but my daughter was given such inedible fish & chips that I think the cook should be sacked. The chips must have been -not hours old but days old. Rubbery & black; inedible. I wanted to complain, however my daughter was too embarrassed to let me do so. For M&S, it was an utter disgrace!

It's was very busy when we first arrived but the queue soon went . I had fish chips and peas and my son had steak and ale pie mash and gravy...both meals where very good and only waited about 15mins for the meals to come. I asked for the table to cleaned but it didn't happen but over all it ok

Love this crayfish , mango and rice salad with a coconut and chilli dressing whenever I am in town and want a quick lunch . A taste of summer .

Slow service, but good selection of food, food quite expensive but warm. Ordered toasty, quite small for price but enjoyable, extra charge for salad.

When ladies do shopping,at some point LUNCH is essential so as M+S foodie fans,thought we would try the cafe.

Stopped for coffee whilst shopping in Bolton and joined a long queue. Only 2 staff manned the counter, one taking the money and one making the drinks.finally it was my turn and I gave my order to the drinks assistant. The till operator then turned to me and I said I was being served. She said yes but you need to pay me in a off hand manner. I paid her although still hadn't received all my order. After a few moments the drinks assistant asked if I had asked for something else and I said yes the Latte that I had also ordered. She apologised , gave the woman behind me her drinks ( as she had started them) and finally I received my latte. The whole thing took over 15 minutes on a relatively quiet Wednesday morning. Although there was a queue there were loads of empty tables in the cafe. I sat down and drank my Luke warm latte and left. Very disappointed. Mistakes can be made but my main grievance was with the rude till operator who perhaps needs customer service training.

Came here for a quick breakfast, the cashier man was very rude, speaks like if I am a little child, he ruined my mood with his attitude I cant find a reason to come here again and pay money to be treated like this 👎🏻

This m&s; restaurant at Horwich is getting more packs every time I go.

Thought we would have a quick lunch here in between a busy working day, sadly we were waiting 20 minutes for 2 bowls of soup, the restaurant was not busy and other people appeared unhappy with the service too. Eventualy we could wait no longer and asked for a refund, staff were disintetrested we were offered no apology, so will not be going again anytime soon.

Enjoyed coffee & scone with my mum whilst we were out shopping. OK, nothing special, but the staff were very helpful and the Café was spotless and comfortable.

Called in while shopping in the rain. Dishes are all pre-prepared but okay. Guess that it was as shoppers expect.

Welcome break on a shopping trip. Usual M & S standard of coffee. Large café in large store. Would definitely visit again on a shopping trip to Bolton. Did not sample the food but it looked excellent.

We do visit here quite often on our travels, but the ecor is now dated, and the space needs updating. The food is still okay for the price range.

Afternoon tea very good with plenty of it could have done with the place been cooler it was a bit hot. Service very good.

Called in on a Sunday with my grandaughter. Staff not particularly friendly, calling loudly accross to one another. One even walked past our table shouting loudly to the others ' some customers are really dirty'. Left the cafe another said that's the last we'll see of her. Not the normal standard we expect from m& s. Won't be visiting again.

Went into the M&S; cafe for a quick tea. Toasted sandwiches and tea and coffee (and a little cake). All were the usual M&S; Stansted food. An enjoyable quick tea.

Had a lovely afternoon tea with my daughter. I had an offer on where it was £10 but normal price is £23. Gotta say that's far in excess of what I would pay for this BUT at a tenner, excellent value!!

Nice cafe for drinks and snacks local to all main shops in Bolton Town centre. Produce nice and drinks lovely. Not the cheapest but staff quick and helpful.

Visit this cafe regular and everytime we come find the staff shouting across to each other even worst behind the scenes. Certain regular who serves always as attitude and it seems like to much for her, the staff on the front always to busy talking and not paying enough attention to the customers. Dont know if bad company to work for but one of the girls who use to work in shop on ground floor use to be so friendly, came in one day said hi you ok, she snapped my head off. Anyway they need to tone there volume down and some need more training in customer skills. I work in a cafe and if I did half of what they did would be out of job now.

overheard several customers complaining about their meals, but the brew was fine. toilets were accessible, but awkward to get to. the cafe was clean and tables spread out.

Not a lot of variety and choice but for what we had to eat it was lovely hot and fresh and there doesn't seem to be a lot of room/tables so it can be a bit crowded

Used to go in here a lot but, due perhaps to a shortage of staff, it is now not a pleasant experience at all. Long queues, uncleared tables and long waits for hot food.

Just had a lovely lunch with my husband, both had soup and buns and a piece of carrot cake between us, and a delicious cup of coffee, served by pleasant staff. We were lucky to get a table as very busy with post Christmas shoppers.

We have just visited the cafe in Marks and Spencer and I'd like to say how lovely Lauren was on the till. Great customer service and a lovely manner. Had a nice Christmas turkey soup too. Thank you

If you want a good brew and something to eat mid shopping then you can't go wrong. It's not the cheapest of store restaurant cafes but then again it's not the cheapest and they are usually in great locations.

Neat clean carm, wheelchair assessable, friendly staff good food drink, this is Marks and Spencer, I'd expect nothing less.

The food and drinks are very good but I have to say the service is and always has been very slow. The staff just dont seem to have a system.

The cheesy bread sausage and onion hot sandwich and latte this is always a treat so times very busy and you have to wait

I only wanted a coffee ! Ten minute wait with only half a dozen in front of me ! When I get to the till the girl ignored me until I gave her the "seriously" stare ! Then asked me was I being served . Not yet !! Poor organisation , poor supervision, poor customer service attitudes / coffee didn't come until after I had to complain about others behind me in the queue served before me ! Not a nice or pleasant experience .

Always pop in marks for a coffee and a tea cake when in need of a good coffee fix, I don't think it's to expensive for a little treat in the afternoon.

Standard cafe great food and served hot. Kids menu available, but not memorable and other options locally for cheaper prices

As always with M&S; the food is very good and the staff are upto the Marks and Spencer training, I do prefer to be waited on but never mind you can't have everything. Cleaning is up to scratch

Always really busy here . Toasties are very nice and tasty and soup is also very good. You can buy the soup in the shop aswell. Mince pies are beautiful at Christmas. It is quite reasonable. Only one issue we have is the air-conditioning , as we find it makes hot drinks go cold quickly.

Queues are very long and you lose the will to live! Do not like the brand of coffee they have changed to either.

Lovely café, buttered fruit scones and cup of tea are delicious, convenient while shopping in the store.

Always pop in for a cuppa & slice of cake or scone when in town shopping. The cafe is always clean & staff are friendly! :)

Usually cafes annoy me when you have to queue and your food is cold by the time you sit down.however I was pleasantly surprised to see that the staff had a brilliant system of getting the queues down. The the food was hot and enjoyable. 10/10 well done

Good coffee,sandwiches and cake . Plenty of tables and easy chairs. Top floor of M & S at the rear of the mens dept. Service is fairly quick for hot sandwiches etc. Soup is good too.

all the high standards you would expect from marks n sparks. Mainly 'older' visitors sometimes not enough tables and a feeling of being rushed but it's fine for a latte with your mum and nana

Long queues, changed layout. Coffee not as good now that they use 'Fair Trade' Have started going to Costa instead. Not the same in there anymore with the high windows.

The Cafe at M&S; is a very busy place and luckily, I was able to get a seat right at the huge window overlooking a square. Though this is not a gourmet's paradise, the food was good and I enjoyed my tea with scones and clotted cream while watching people go by below in the square. The Cafe is clean, but very busy. It is self-service - so you have to take care navigating around with tea and other beverages. But it's a welcome break off one's feet and the food is just fine.

Went to M & S cafe one Saturday lunch in May just for something quick to eat and drink. Toasted sandwich was OK but lacked taste which they would introduce something different.

You always know what you are going to get with M&S; and the cafe is no exception. Pleasant staff and good quality. Always a pleasure

Regularly visit. Value for money and consistently satisfying. When I win the lottery, I've decided all my food will be bought from M&S; lol :)

We decided to have the afternoon tea. It was not cheap, about £12 but the quality of the food and service was excellent, I use a mobility scooter and the Young Man who did the drinks insisted on bringing them to our table. I chose the sandwiches and scones and a lovely Young Lady arranged them on a three tier cake stand and brought them to the table along with napkins etc. It was just enough for us both and it bought back memories of cream teas in the West Country in our Youth. Thank you.
