Hadn't been here for ages as it is not the best of places for refreshments. We called in today to get a refund for some slippers that started to fall apart after less than two weeks. Person serving not very bright ! I put the defective slippers on the counter with my receipt at the side of them. I told him one of the slippers was falling apart after less than two weeks. In typical robotic style he uttered, "Have you got your receipt ?" Help!! As we were in there we decided we would just have a tea and cappuccino before walking back for the park and ride bus to return to our car. Queue was not too long but service was, as usual, so slow. The walking art gallery woman serving ought to have her long dyed blonde hair tied back as she was flicking and shaking it about all the time and where food is involved this is not good hygiene practice. Then, as we were sitting and having our drinks we, and several others, were shocked by a bang as a roof tile dropped down on an unfortunate customer sitting a few seats away. Luckily he didn't appear to be injured. I was shocked as well as I have PTSD. There was an area that was screened off for work in progress but it was inadequately guarded and the seats and table should never have been as close to the screened area as they were - as this poor chap discovered ! All in all, a very eventful visit but for the wrong reasons.

Cafe in the M&S near the market was very disappointing. The staff were slow and lacking in decent customer service skills. When asked if they had any gluten free options in their sandwich range we were met with a ‘no’ and the comment we normally do but not today! And no attempt to help get around the issue was offered (there were such sandwiches downstairs in the food hall)

Woman at til was curt and inefficient. Forgot to take my payment then wanted to know why I was still stood there! Her colleague looked uncomfortable. Toast was rock hard, avocado too hard to be crushed and poached eggs weird - runny yet cold. I usually rate an M&S cafe, would wouldn’t go back to this one

Just paid £2.25 for two pieces of toast which was rock hard and had more holes in the bread than bread itself.. Horrendous service with dirty cutlery

Visited Cambridge today with my daughter for a girls day out. Always have a visit to marks and spencer for a coffee and cake in the afternoon. Could not believe what we saw. Nearly all the tables had dirty crockery on them. One table was free and when we sat down the mess on the floor was disgusting. Looking round the floor was dirty around all the tables and clearly hadn't been moved to clean. You could always rely on marks but never again . Very disappointed 😞

This is for the beehive centre cafe as it don’t come up on here came here last week ordered 2 teas and wanted toasted tea cake of which they didn’t have any so don’t know why the lad couldn’t get some from the store but never mind my mate went for toasted hot cross bun which there was only 1 left we paid sat down and had our pots of tea which were only half full of water not a good experience here seems to have gone down hill for what you pay is very expensive

I always use this MandS and find it quite good. The cafe is on the second floor and I find that convenient as the store has elevators to get about. Would love a bigger store but find the food Hall quite good.

I have always found M&S Cafe good for a quick snack and coffee but there has been a noticeable deterioration in the place and the service recently. Tables are often left uncleared and the staff seem disinterested. Service with a smile has certainly disappeared. Last week I noticed one of the female kitchen staff constantly stroking and fiddling with her hair at the same time as preparing food. Staff are in urgent need of health and hygiene training and also customer service training.

Lucky to get a seat at a window overlooking the market in City Centre of Cambridge. It was busy and the empty tables were not being cleared, resulting in customers clearing the dirty dishes onto one or two spare tables as there was nowhere to sit... they were soon piled high! However, couldn't fault the food, it was hot and very tasty (cheese and ham toasty and jacket potato and cheese). The jacket came with a little coleslaw and salad on the side. It would be a nice touch if the toasty also came with a garnish or offered as an additional extra for a few pence more. We went on two occasions for a bite to eat as my son loves the toasties and the tables were not as bad, but still not cleared efficiently (possibly short staffed during school holidays???). All in all, I would recommend if you are lucky to get a table.

In many ways M&S cafes are generally a reliable stand by - but I was really put off by our visit to this cafe. Many of the empty tables had loads of crumbs/remnants of food all over them but no one seemed to be making any effort to clean them - even though there seemed to be plenty of staff around. There was also a lot of food on the floor around a couple of the tables - so much so that I wouldn’t have wanted to sit there - it was gross. We ordered a fish finger sandwich - when it came it was on far too small a plate and also it was just 2 slices of bread (one of top of the other) and it hadn’t even been sliced in half - very odd and awkward to eat. Went to get cutlery and some of the ‘clean’ cutlery had visible bits of food on it. Really unpleasant. I don’t expect amazing food from an M&S cafe - just a basic tasty snack - but I definitely do expect basic cleanliness - and that definitely wasn’t the case at this cafe. It really put me off my food - and I won’t return because of that.

Wenn man eine Pause einlegt und solide Klassiker wünscht, zu moderaten Preisen, ist man hier genau richtig. Leider waren Fish & Chips ausverkauft, Crispy Burger alternative Notlösung. Afternoon Tea ist klasse: Scone, Jam, flotter Cream und Tea. ...immer wieder gut.

We had tea, hot chocolate, scones and bakewell tart which were all delicious.Prices reasonable, plenty of seats even on a summer Saturday. Good selection of food and drink, which revived us for the next hour of shopping! You find the restaurant on the upper floor of the store.There was also a discount offer on household items temptingly close by!

We stopped here on the way to the train station and got sandwiches quickly. They were nice and filling. The chicken avocado is my preferred. We love the preprepared salads too! Quick service and nice staff.

This M&S cafe is on the top floor of the store at the Market Square. It was not busy but service was slow and chaotic. No glasses, no bread and the tables weren't cleared and this was at 10.30 in the morning. After queuing for 15 minutes and paying for my order I was then told that it would be a 10 minute wait for 2 toasted teacakes. When the items arrived the tray that the assistant was using was filthy and the items were served with attitude. It also appears that if you order a hot drink you no longer get the small biscuit unless you ask. The cost of the drinks have gone up but what you get has been cut back.

A Cambridge, in stazione, c'è uno dei più riforniti negozi di MS. I cibi pronti sono ottimi e dunque c'è solo l'imbarazzo della scelta. Invitanti i vari tipi di tramezzini che sono tutti buoni come pure i panini e le torte salate solo da scaldare. Tantissimi i dolci, a un prezzo davvero buono e c'è anche parecchia frutta. Qui si trova poi anche l'acqua frizzante, non tranto diffusa in queste zone. E poi tanti, tanti tipi di birra. Cin cin e buon appetito!

Confusing situation as there are 2 M&S buildings in Cambridge. We walked in first building and just by chance asked the security guy was the cafe upstairs, and he replied No, go through the gap, over there where the Food Hall is. It is upstairs if you go! It was quite spacious and it was clean. There are toilets right by the cafe. I got tuna and corn filling in a jacket potato, and my wife got cheese in the same. They both came with salad and dressing (in a jug NOT poured on your salad). However, the 'baby' tomatoes were disgusting and I actually spat mine out!!! They were too hard and I did have difficulty cutting into them so should have known better. The spuds were cooked properly. The tuna tasted fresh. My wife asked for butter as neither spud came with any. The lady brought butter without question or comment. It was all ok.........but there was just something missing......can't quite explain. Don't get me wrong the staff were friendly enough, and the service was quick, I suppose the food quality could have been just a bit better.

This store has been here for many years,remember coming here as a child,lovely bright and well spaced out.

We visited the Marks and Spencer cafe and really enjoyed our shopping break there. We had a good view of the centre of cambridge and loved how spacious and open plan the cafe was. We would definitely come here again.

A nice quick, fresh and tasty lunch. After placing our order our food arrived, hot and quickly which was impressive. Friendly counter staff too. Great value for money. Only complaint would be that, although it wasn't peak lunchtime, the restaurant did have several empty tables, but they were all dirty, which would suggest to me that they might be a little understaffed. Table was cleaned when we asked, so we were happy.

Food OK and view over the market lovely but the place was far too cold. It was a winter's day and they had the air conditioning blowing cold air so hard that napkins flew off the tables and our drinks and food were cold before we had finished.

Had a nice tea cake and hot chocolate. But I don't like the ambience - it's so bright. Also the q took 15 mins and the tables weren't cleared.

Whenever in Cambridge I always visit this store and purchase loads of food stuff and visitthe cafe upstairs for refreshments which again are excellent.

We called in to the cafe on Wednesday 20th September 2017. The premises are bright and airy and the staff were friendly, even though they were working flat out. We had tea and cakes and could not fault the quality or the choice available.

Dwalend door Cambridge, wat een leuke stad, hadden we trek in thee en we zagen een M&S.; Wanneer je verteld dat je niet van hele zwarte sterke thee houdt, mag je zelf het theezakje erin en er bijtijds uit halen. Het restaurant gedeelte van het warenhuis is gedateerd en het publiek erg leuk "Brits". Geen toeristen gezien hier boven! Verkwikt na een drankje en een hapje - tegen heel betaalbare prijs - gingen we verder met Cambridge bekijken, waar tussen de buien door, veel afstudeerfeestjes werden gevierd bij de diverse colleges.

We called in for tea and cakes, the floors and tables were in desperate need of cleaning. We had to brush the seating prior to sitting down and although the cafe was not busy staff appeared to consider cleaning low on agenda.Not what you expect from M& S

Marks & Spencer Food Hall next to the Market Square is perfectly placed for picking up the essentials for a picnic in the park or on a punt.

Shopping on my own and needed a coffee and something to eat. Had a lovely bowl of chicken and broth soup with fresh rolls and butter and coffee always good in M & S too. Busy but staff efficient at clearing up and serving.

About the only place in Cambridge I can get away from fellow students and escape the bubble (most of the customers are above 60 but they're farrrr more interesting than students!). Sat there and did some uni work today (bought breakfast and lunch) and the staff are very polite - offered me a free drink because lunch took 20 mins to come. Before the male waiter brought me the drink he came back and said "sorry it was presumptuous of me to offer you a medium. Would you like a large?" Good food and great service!

Once more, very disappointed. I ordered a jacket potato with cheese & beans, a jacket potato came with cheese, so I sent it back and I was then given a jacket potato with beans no cheese (beans had been cremated) sent it back. Third time lucky I guess it finally came with cheese and beans but I had already eaten my hand.

We stopped calling in for tea and snacks eighteen months ago after having complained twice about untidy tables and messy floors. Shame really as they do serve a good coffee and hot chocolate. Also could not help noticing the price of their fresh fruit 50p per item, where that sounds acceptable for a large banana or apple, it does seem quite extortionate for a small satsuma.

If we just want to buy a healthy cold lunch to eat on the go, we enjoy eating their healthy lentil salads from their downstairs food hall. And some edamame from nearby Boots.

We stopped here for lunch on a Monday. There was quite a queue, but it was at a busy time. However it took 30 minutes to toast a sandwich. The food was tasty, but the wait for something so some was not good.

A very nice, very clean place to shop for food. Everything is packaged nicely so you can come in for a quick meal or shop to take home. They have a nice café, but I did not get to experience that.

As always with Marks & Spencer's great customer service, good coffee and food, recommended.don't feel awkward having lunch out on my own at m & s.

Recently visited Cambridge and in walking around the fascinating town came on the M&S; store off the market square. Feeling a need to sit in comfort and air conditioning after a long morning of walking and sightseeing we went in to try the M&S; High Tea. It was kind of fun and very tasty. Order the for two and you get a tower of little sandwiches and desserts, scones, clotted cream and jams to share. A couple pots of tea complete the "Tea". You can sit in a seat with a window overlooking the Market Square. Note that this is sort of cafeteria style and functional but comfortable seating. They do bring the "High Tea" to your table. For value, not too bad. About 13 pounds for 2 which is about $26 Canadian at this writing. Many of the items for sale in the restaurant are carried by the M&S; store and are available for purchase and to take home.

We enjoyed a very good lunch of fish & chips in this restaurant which was just what we wanted during a day out in Cambridge. However, the queue to get served was awful and seemed to be mainly caused by the time taken to prepare exotic coffees. If restaurants want to offer these drinks then they should ensure that they have sufficient staff to cope with the demand. Having said that, the staff were still friendly and the wait for our meal, once ordered, was relatively short.

When travelling in the UK, we often seek out Marks and Spencer for lunch, and Cambridge does not disappoint. The standard lunch fare in England seems to be tomato and basil soup, jacket potato, or dressed salad. These are available, but also a variation of the old favourite 'pea, pie, 'pud' with a tasty and crisp chicken pie, peas and beans and broccoli, and mashed potato with gravy. We also enjoy the bottled 'Pink Lady' apple juice. Yum! This café is spacious, light and attractive, and we find the service efficient and friendly. We would come again!

M&S; is my regular breakfast or coffee stop in Cambridge. It is best to arrive before about 10.30 since there can often be queues later in the day, although I've never had a problem finding somewhere to sit. The coffee is good and, for Cambridge, reasonably priced. Staff are well-trained, friendly, and always willing to help their often elderly or disabled customers by carrying a tray to their table or in other ways. There is rather fierce air conditioning which is welcome in summer, but less so the rest of the year. There are good views over the Market and Gt St Mary's which visitors I've taken with me have enjoyed. Nice loos too.

I have to admit that the quality of the food in M&S; was good. If you would like to pay a bit more for better quality food then that is the supermarket for you.

Progress is often slow in this restaurant, even when waiting just for coffee. However, I was pleasantly surprised to be served my ordered cod, chips and mushy peas after only about a 15 minute wait. I have to say the battered cod was cooked and ok but the chunky chips were almost raw and inedible. After a conversation with a member of staff, there was general agreement that preparing chunky chips in the oven in a relatively short time was not a good idea and she immediately offered me a refund. I hope my comments are fed back to those who manage this type of food and changes are made without delay. I think I might stick with the toasted sandwiches in future!

In Inghilterra c'è un Mark & Spencer ovunque. Bello quello di Cambridge. Ottimo il M&S; cafè. Buona zuppa e ottimi tramezzini

Often there is a queue here so it's not suitable f you just want a quick coffee! I try to get there just after 10am and it's ok. Always a good coffee and tea. Scones and cakes always look fresh and very tempting.
